Overnight Open Thread-Just Another Caturday Edition [CDR M]
— Open Blogger

What up Moron Nation! Another Caturday is upon us. So get properly dressed, grab your proper refreshment and read on. The ONT is here.

Lucille Ball's Birthday

Well, today would've been the 100th Birthday of Lucille Ball. Probably Hollywood's most recognized ginger. Yeah, yeah. I know there is another ginger that is more recognized by the moron herd but show some respect to Lucy.
15 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Lucille Ball.

5. Like most other actresses in Hollywood, Lucy auditioned for the role of Scarlett O'Hara in 'Gone With the Wind.' But on her way to audition for producer David O. Selznick, she got caught in a rainstorm, was drenched, and had to audition wearing nothing but a long sweater she'd borrowed from Selznick's assistant.

Obama Birthday Party Games
Heh. Here's a list of some of the birthday party games the White House had going on last Thursday. I'm sure we can come up with some more.

10. Jenga: U.S. economy edition

9. Tic-Tax-Toe

8. (Getta) Clue

7. Monopoly: Spread the Wealth edition

6. Barrel of Soros Monkeys

5. Red Rover, Red Rover, Send Your Paycheck Right Over

4. Duck Duck Responsibility

3. Pin the Debt on the Children

2. Scavenger Hunt — for a job

1. Unfollow The Leader

History Repeating Itself?

Alan Caruba over at Warning Signs wrote a blog post title Flirting With The Great Depression 2.0 and wonders if history is repeating itself. It's a good dose of history and what lies ahead.

Hello Kitty VS Street Fighter

Heh, no. It's not the chemjeff ONT edition with this photo but I'm sure he and Kratos are dying to play this game. Here is Hello Kitty VS Street Fighter.

Caturday Video: Cats and Water

Conspiracy Theory Of The Day
Damn those Smurfs.

Caturday Video: The Cutest Kitteh

25 Sneaky Little Guns

25 Sneaky Little Guns. There was a trip I took to Russia sometime back and the security detail that we had with us had something similar to this briefcase gun. It was pretty damn cool.

War Pron
The only thing missing from this video is the kitchen sink. Seriously. A-10's? Check. JDAM's? Check. Apache's? Check. UAVs? Check.

Walter The Farting Dog

Is Walter The Farting Dog really a children's book series?? Seriously? And now they are going to make it a movie. Oh jeez.

Putin's Army
I don't know why but it seemed like a bit of James Bond/SPECTRE-ish.

Well, that's all folks. See ya next weekend. I'm out.

Tonight's ONT brought to you by:

More Hilarious Movie Cliches.

23 Gooooooooooood evening Morons!

Can I have you double-check my work?  (Not drinking yet so the logic may not be solid).

Followed the link about History Repeating Itself, and it mentioned that our total debt equals (or exceeds by now maybe) one year's GDP.

I thought, Hey, why is that so bad?  Years ago the better half & I bought a townhouse, and our total debt with that mortgage was equal to our gross income.  BUT...

The GDP is the whole country's (the productive part anyway) "income" ... the government is who has the debt, it doesn't have any real income (just taxing).

Is that right?

It's a one megapixel camera - I think that's just stills. Video is probably 640 or even 320 across. That's, as they say, pathetic. Check out geeks.com , they have a Sylvania 5 megapixel w/ 720p video for $40.

I was re reading Amity Shlaes book The Forgotten Man today looking for parrallels to our current situations and guess what I found quite a few.

1936 Banking Bill which forced banks to have more capital and ended up killing loans=Dodd Frank

Harsher labor laws=Our NLRB

New entitlements=Obama care

tax hikes=they're threatening.

Either Obama can't read and he's by coincidence doing all the wrong things or he can and he is doing them on purpose.

I will dispense unto our moronettes - of whatever age - the same advise I give my Main Squeeze each time she whines about wanting a facelift because she thinks her eyes look droopy these days: you look FINE, and your eyes and face are the ones your hubby LOVES. Why would you want a surgical cut across your entire forehead, followed by the surgeon literally pulling the skin on your face up and suturing it back to your scalp, just so you could end up looking like Joan Rivers??? DON'T, Gals!

Well last night they were on the ONT talking about the bigotry and racism of "our conservatives heritage" we must get by.  Today they are an idependent unhappy with both sides but really upset at Republicans refusing to make the rich pay more money and it was Obama willing to cut a deal and the Republicans and Tea Party refused him.

I mean, it's cheap as hell, but would it be better to just spend a little more and get a lot more in value?  Those Flip cameras seem popular.

78 Futurama episode did this.  Probably the only time that show actually got my eyes to water a bit was with Fry's dog waiting outside the pizza shop for years for him to return.

I remember that one..  Fry was going to clone him but decided against it because the dog died years after Fry was frozen..

Fry though the dog went off to find a good home and a good life and nixed the clone at the ending, they flash backed to the pizza place and they showed the dog waiting for Fry to return..

I agree 100%.

but a lot of women find that once they start to look about 45 yo they start to become more and more invisible> strangely even other women and salespeople will pay less attention to them and even take them less seriously than before.

Our society puts a premium on being young and beautiful in not just your own way, but a certain way.

You are the best of all possible husbands for telling your wife what you said, but you will have to tell her often. Our society is cruel to women as they age. She just wants to stay beautiful for you.

And you didnt mean to upset me, but someone really did blow up a kitten in front of me to make me cry. It made quite an impression on me.

96 The owner dies while at work but the dog still waits for him to come back home on the train.. And he waited years and years for him.... Akita. From Wiki: In 1924, Hidesaburō Ueno, a professor in the agriculture department at the University of Tokyo, took in Hachikō as a pet. During his owner's life, Hachikō greeted him at the end of each day at the nearby Shibuya Station. The pair continued their daily routine until May 1925, when Professor Ueno did not return. The professor had suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage and died, never returning to the train station where Hachikō was waiting. Every day for the next nine years the golden brown Akita waited at Shibuya station. The permanent fixture at the train station that was Hachikō attracted the attention of other commuters. Many of the people who frequented the Shibuya train station had seen Hachikō and Professor Ueno together each day. They brought Hachikō treats and food to nourish him during his wait. This continued for nine years with Hachikō appearing precisely when the train was due at the station.

The Godfather II is actually the beggining of Mario Puzo's story in the book. The story starts somewhere in the 1920's so  younger actors were used to portray the charcters, hence Robert DeNiro as the godfather and Bruno Kirby as Clemenza ect. The movie followed the book very well. My brother sent  the book home from Trenton state prison where he was doing 11 to 13 back in the sixties. post sixties note: my brother whos son is a township sheriff as well as state swat officer and my godson has redeemed himself with society and never returned to his youthful indiscretionary ways.

nobody likes getting brushed off over and over. They did some hidden camera expiriments on this issue and the results were quite non-surprising. I am sure you will be stunned to find out people are more inclined to help people who are young and attractive. Amusingly they were more inclined to help the attractive even if they were assholes and would treat the less attractive and the older people like they were assholes no matter how nice they were.

i find it interesting because i am particularly interested in the trend of younger people not only not respecting their elders, but really behaving as though they despise them.

It's a long story, but the far left has a vested interest (and has for a century) in cutting off youth from the culture behind them. It was a major tenet of the "counterculture movement" and the "Gramscian movement" behind it that youth had to be cut off from their families and their culture or "revolutionary consciousness" could not be achieved. In practice, the result is more chaos than revolution, but the left keep on doing it like mindless guided missiles with only a vague idea of their targets.

Posted by: CoolCzech at August 06, 2011 10:39 PM (kUaEF)

the fashion industry considers you OLD at 21. And there are young women getting botox at 20 years old now.

Its flippin sick. theres so much work done on people in certain hollywood and upscale zipcodes to them it looks normal, and any natural look is derided as "Old" "tired" and "worn" looking. they are all so fake they simply dont recognize Fake looking when they see it. Instead they are insecure and feel safer and more attractive as cookie cutter people.

I hated that so much (sister a model, Ex an advertising exec) that i proudly let my hair go prematurely grey, and would not tone or dye it. Its knee length and silver streaked. Nobody dares say a word about it.

And i like being invisible.

But i might get insecure if i didnt have a man who told me how he loved me and thought i was wonderful all the time. I know i would. Our society should respect people for their brains and good hearts, and fine character, but they dont seem to as much as they used to, any more. One of the reasons i like Grim is that he can see something beautiful in almost any woman he meets. He's just really positive that way.

Most men arent. And it borders on cruel.

I think at this point my tree house would be a sturdy observation platform with a good rail and at least a partial roof on it. Maybe a full roof. One example of Montebello’s shadow budget: An effort by City Administrator Peter Cosentini to track down off-the-books funds turned up a $1 million payout the city made in 1999 to a connected local restaurant developer. The forgivable loan, according to a staff report, was intended to fill an “untapped market” for an “entertainment venue and restaurant” by funding a new chain of Latin-themed restaurants branded by the pop star Juan Gabriel. After that deal went south, the developer put up an Applebee’s.

has anyone here ever wanted to build a tree house or a club house of some sort? I kinda wondered.
and if so what kind?

I think at this point my tree house would be a sturdy observation platform with a good rail and at least a partial roof on it. Maybe a full roof. Painted dark brown and green it would blend into the tree. Definitely need a rope and pulley. Think a block and tackle is overkill? I think it might make it easier to get a good chair up there...

231 Gushka, we had the greatest tree house when I was a kid.  It was just sturdy boards Dad nailed over a couple of tree limbs, but to our imagination it was whatever we wanted it to be.  The littler neighbor kids couldn't get up in it because you had to jump up and grab the lowest branch, too high for a  small kid, to climb up onto it.   My sisters and I had the greatest adventures up there!

Now, if I had the money to do it, I'd have all the amenities in my treehouse and an elevator!

236 We lived in a leased house that had a treehouse for about a year when i was a kid, only thing i didn't like was the typical boards nailed to the tree to get up to it, they were sturdy but it was a bitch to get a good foothold and you always thought you were gong to slip and fall. there needs to be a better way to get up to it.

Since there really are sick bastards that torture animals I can't see any humor in torturing animals.  We have three little dogs.  All are 10 to 14 years old.  A particularly energetic one we call Tootsie, about 13 lbs., had the misfortune to drink from an infected puddle of water somewhere and get a case of leptospirosis.  It was killing her about 3 years ago.  A couple thousand bucks later we cured her but she was left with kidney damage.

Recently I noticed she was losing weight and took her to the vet.  It was renal failure.  After admistering IV fluids to flush her system she recovered somewhat only to hurt a rear leg a week later.  She was just limping a little so we didn't do anything.  As she was limping the next day it was off to the vet again.  Somehow she had dislocated it.  Another stay at the vets to reset the leg and rehydrate her.  She wouldn't eat  wasn't doing well so we took her home and began giving her sub-cutaneous fluids, phosphorus binders and a special low protein diet.  She seems do be doing well for now,  gaining weight and lots of energy.  Still we know it is a losing battle.  When the time comes, we won't let her suffer.  She has been a good dog and part of the family.  I can't get my head around folks that take pleasure in hurting a dog or cat for pleasure.

242 The tree for our treehouse was a huge tree, and sometimes we'd try to see how high we could climb up.

The neighbor girl who lived next door was up in the treehouse with me and my sis.  Mom came out the back door to hang the laundry and yelled at us that we weren't to climb up too high above the platform, which was exactly what we were planning to do, and she knew it.

Soon mom and neighbor girl's mom are talking over the fence, and our friend decides to climb up higher.  We're watching her, whispering that she's high enough and she should stop, when CRACK, a branch she was holding onto breaks and lands right between me and my sister on the platform.  Friend goes whizzing by us, screaming as she falls, with her arms still up in the air.  Sis and I look over the platform and there is our friend, she'd caught the swing-up branch we used to climb up into the treehouse and is just bouncing.  We look over at our moms, and yep, they're still talking, clueless to the tragedy that almost took place.

Realistically, though, when is California going to grow self-aware enough to allow the hunting of hipsters?  Our hipsters here in TN are weak imitations of the real thing, granted, but we're much more likely to have a hunting season declared at some point than Cali ever will be.  Hell, they're probably considered "people" out west.  On the plus side, in CA they would be legally denied from self-defense (even if all that would amount to is some light slapping and obscure references to alt-culture, that should count for something, I guess).

308 Posted by: booger at August 07, 2011 01:15 AM (9RFH1) I loved it at first, but about a year in it started to act strangely. It would freeze, lock up or restart randomly. I really think this has to do with different companies being responsible for the hardware and software. Motorola moved onto the droid 2 and X, so they don't have much of an incentive to push out software updates for my phone. Google doesn't bother either. So, basically I got a phone I loved for a year, but was then abandoned by Motorola and Google and now I'm stuck with a phone I can't update for a year that I want to fire into my living room wall. Apple is so much better about software updates to older models.

But Verizon said its wireline business has been in decline for more than a decade, and that it is asking for changes in the contract to strengthen the unit. The company said union employees contribute nothing to their health care premiums "Seriously," said our highly placed source within Verizon's corporate offices, "these people are literally less useless than tits on a boar, and I can't even fathom what purpose boar-tits could ever serve.  We almost called them a "customer disservice" group when considering a new, more honest approach to dealing with our subscribers.  Thankfully, the motivation for that passed quickly.  So, hey, iPhone and [mumbled]."

319 A friend of mine worked for a union LTL for years and years. Everytime their union contract came up for renewal she walked the picket line for minimum wage.

Me: Why the hell are you walking the picket line?
She: Because what they're doing is wrong. They want to hire two part-time workers instead of one full-time worker so they don't have to pay benefits.
Me: And why do you think that is?
She: Because they're greedy and don't want to pay what we deserve.
Me:
She: Yeah.
Me:
She: If I don't walk the line I don't get paid.
Me: How fucking good can the union really be if every damn time your contract up their negotiations wind up with you walking a line, for little more than minimum wage, in 90 degree heat?
She:
Me: That's what I thought.

Well, they won. The company didn't get to hire those part-time employees. Instead, they went out of business entirely.

Finns are obsessed with saunas - I know a Finnish born guy here in Nashville (where it's been 95+ on the reg for a couple months) whose first act upon buying a house here was building a sauna in the garage.  Be wary of the Finns - they're neither Scandi nor Russian, but rather a hybrid of both.

/In the Finns defense, they did kill the *shit* out of the Leninists in 1917.  Later history was less impressive.

351 ...dog was hanging his head out the window, thought he saw something in the vast area of sagebrush and nothingness that is Eastern Washington State as they were driving by that he wanted a closer look at, and jumped out the window.

Yeah, one reason why my dawg never got to hang her head out of the car.  (Not that she ever really wanted to.  Much.  First long trip from Santa Fe to my Dad's new digs in Tucson, she spent the entire 8 hours either trying to worm her 45 lb. ass into my lap, like a kitty-kat or panting and drooling over the center console in my  Toyota Celica RA65 because of stress and worry.  I swear that the wallet I kept in there has never been the same, due to all the water damage!)

That was one of the sadder things about ALWAYS keeping her on leash, 'till almost the end.

For over a decade of my life, I learned to be prepared for an explosive burst of manic "chasey" energy no matter how polite and well behaved she could be.

Was super depressing her last year or so, when I realized that I'm seeing/hearing all the critters and all she really had going for her was sniff.

Well, anyways...

Thanks, dawg!

I have an eye and an ear for the critters now, like you wouldn't believe!

I still brace myself and ready my right hand to take a hard grip on the lead (if need be) that's invisible and now connected to nothing...

You will always be a part of me dawg.

I'm so happy to have got to know you too!

I hope, that if there is a canine after-life, you get to chase down and BITE all of those dirty birdies, bunny rabbits, lizards (not like you didn't make a repulsive mess of enough of them, first go-around) and nasty kitty-kats and get showered with bacon bits and kisses and PRAISE, once you pop one.

Also, someone WILL come down and say, "OMG! That is a freaky-ass gigantor BUG!  Nothing should move like that!  Thank you for the  warning.  We'll take care of it now...

{How do you tell the difference between a gunshot and a fire-cracker?  First one, sounded like a gunshot at 10:57PM.  Second one, less than 30 seconds later, from same street corner sounded more "crackly".}

366 Re the "mass atrocities" proclamation:

The President's Proclamation fills this gap, and by enumerating these grounds for denying admission to the United States, policymakers will have a new tool to warn groups that have carried out, or may be about to carry out crimes against humanity, war crimes, and related abuses , that their conduct falls within explicit standing bans on admission to the United States.  As such, we will be able to more effectively shame those who are organizing widespread and systematic violence against civilians based on ethnicity, religion, or other protected characteristics. In banning would-be organizers of human rights violations as well as perpetrators, it allows the United States to act expeditiously before planned atrocities metastasize into actual ones.

Shame?

Shame?!

I'm sure the mass-atrocicists (my new word) carry an acutely sensitive shame-gene in their makeup.

382 Coulter on Redeye

Also, Coulter is going to be on C-SPAN 2's  Booknotes tomorrow.

I'm going to tape it (DVR it?) because I think it will be interesting to watch but I have to say, I'm not really all that impressed with what I've read so far of her latest book, Demonic.

I think that she has a skeleton of an argument but gets too bogged down in re-iterating the same MFM outrages we have all seen over the past couple of years.

So far, none of it is NEWS to me.

It's just a depressing re-hash of the "same old, same old, MFM" bullshit of the last 4 years.

No insight.  No vision.  Just...

I guess I would be okay with that, if I had any sense that she were trying to get converts but she isn't.

This is, clearly a "preach to the choir" book and as an Alto, have to say, I'm dozing

Meh,  it was the first e-book I bought, so I guess I'll finish it.

Meh.

Hope it gets better.

387 Nah, he's the fun kind of socialist who thinks that the ideal society and somehow he won't have to do any work any different that what he does now. I'm pretty sure he's done little, if any manual labor his entire life. We usually just avoid talking politics since it's fruitless, and we have similar musical, sport, and female tastes. But I guess he saw I was in no mood to fight back, and just went on a rant. But hell, even if I did, I'd have better chance convincing the wall to move than overcoming his weapons grade ignorance and stupidity.

Verily, thou'rt correctly informed.  The thieving bastards sometimes wouldn't even wait until the addressee was present before tearing into a box that was known to have any sort of home-made baked goods in them. Most of the time they would just be hanging around like a pack of vultures.

429 I would have whoever send me three boxes; one smallish one with my personal stash inside a larger one with night shift's stash inside an even bigger one that day shift could open and maul like a bunch of savages. They would take night shift's box out and when we got in that evening there would be nothing but the little baggies turned inside out, licked and thrown in the trash. Night shift in turn would take my box out and go through their box like a pack of wild mangy dogs. That way at least I was sure to get some of the loot. The idea was if anyone violated a box not theirs, the packages would stop coming. It worked pretty well on all the cruises I was on, and lemmetellya, my Mom could bake some cookies!

I think we (people who think of themselves as sovereign citizens) should all awake to this verse every day!

It's dark I grant you, but why not put up a scroll with those words on it that every member of the family touches before they leave the house?

No, not a Mezuzah on the front door, where nobody but strangers approaches but along the same idea...

On every garage door that the family uses!

To be mindfull...

Not that you have to recite the poem in full, every day, but you could, if pressed, 20 years later, when you might need it.

448 This one is regarded as horribly racist, of course, but it's spot on as well (I particularly like the description in the first verse of "Your new-caught, sullen peoples"). It was a warning to the Americans of the price you pay to be an Imperial power, the only time we ever flirted with the idea was during and just after the Spanish American War. Teddy Roosevelt (who really wasn't all that good a man) later remarked that America has no stomach for empire.

Dejah, your writing style has a certain resemblance to Deety, so color me curious (ack!).

This is my normal time of night to compose a rant of some sort, but the events of the week have left me drained. Or I'm just not likkered up enough.

There seems to be rage just beneath the surface, occasionally popping up across the world. Yesterday in Britain, it was in a place called Tottenham. Buses and police cars burned. I'm sure there were more killings in Syria Friday (over 2k killed so far), where the latest word from Hillary is 'we are unhappy'. When my dog poops on the carpet I am unhappy.

I've been called a terrorist all week, when the biggest thing I've blown up is a few blood vessels in my nose from too much drinking. Somewhere up above in this thread is a link to Janice Daley, writing for a UK paper. She says that the Tea Party is the ONLY group asking the right questions. She sounds a little wistful that there is no serious organized force in Europe asking the same question, which is:

Can a capitalist society support a socialist welfare state? That really is the question, and many people will riot and die in trying to settle this question.

Alright, I did manage a bit of a rant after all. Pretty weak sauce if you ask me, but there it be.

451 Yes, Kipling was opposed to the war with Spain and the occupation of the Phillipines.

It's regarded as horribly racist by illiterates who know nothing about history.

452 GGE, our lack of full imperial ambition has been a source of much weakness, and great strength at the same time. By not requiring tribute, it is hard to focus hate upon us. Hate and assimilation combined undermines every empire. Until they collapse. Ours is a young empire too, at only 235 years old.

453 Well, not to put too fine a point on things...

I'm sure that, no matter what, those in the know (i.e. "friends of Curious" on Wall St. or on Long Island, or in trendy sections of Brooklyn, or in ironic sections of Queens with lawns, with ironic yard flamingoes, hah, hah!!) feel very secure...

Why?

Are the junkies that were tolerated, nay, ENCOURAGED in Tompkins Sq. Park in the early '90's less jonesing, less amoral, less willing to bash another's skull in, to (possibly) get that last $8 for their fix?

I've been told that they have mostly been moved, in these last 20 years since I lived there.

Whatever.

WHERE WERE THEY MOVED TO??

Oh, yeah...

I forgot.  It's a cute, touristy thing, from the movies, having junkies own the park.

Untill, you get some buyers...

So,  If  you own one of the apartments with a view from the north side of TSP, do you have to pay bus-fare for the junkies and child-molesters?

454 I was over at Newsbusters reading Ms. Huffington's words re the JEFe -- she doesn't think his focus is on jobs. Well duh. So it's an easy target for any debater to slap him with. But how about this -- he's a known liar, he cannot resist it.

So you get him to repeat any well worn lie, then slam him with 'There he goes again.' Presto majesto, you've just Reaganed him. Ouch.

455 I saw earlier where the NE morons are planning a RI meet-up. I'm jealous, so let me rain on your parade ( or give you tips on what do when you are there):

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—A record number of Rhode Islanders are receiving federal food assistance and advocates for low-income residents worry that federal budget cuts will add to the strain.

The state Department of Human Services says 163,608 residents were signed up in June for the federal Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program. That represents a nearly 88 percent increase in the last two years.

If enough M&Ms sign up, we can get this number over 90%. Go team go!

456 Dejah, your writing style has a certain resemblance to Deety, so color me curious (ack!).

Well...

Duh!

Yeah, I'm Deety.

Sorry.

I should have been a Hazel Stone but that nic got nicked about 4 years ago by the hosts of the very first blog I posted on.

Meh, I had to go with a "mathy" kind of innocent persona instead...

Nope, I do not  have anything like, Deety's ample bosom.

I'm just nice and logical and love to dance with a Col. Carter!

458 Congrats NJ and NY commuters -- get ready for a big load of man juice to be delivered fresh hot and piping to your anal tunnels, or some kind of tunnels:

Seeking billions in new revenues, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey today proposed a series of steep hikes that would increase bridge and tunnel tolls by 50 percent or more — and much more for those paying cash.

It's 50%, or worse if you pay cash. So 1.5 blowjobs per trip is probably the cheapest way out. Remind me to never visit that corner of the country again, ever. They are trying to charge daily tolls that exceed the value of my car.

Nah...

It's a no-go, Monty and Deety.

He e-mailed me personally and apologized, for possibly offending me by being such a dick, in a previous thread.

I thought it was very thoughtful of him, to follow up.

Also, I really didn't take offense to that, at all....

Meh, OKAY THEN!

468 Okay, SMARTY-PANTZ!?! Who, pray-tell, should I send my letters to? Gabby Gifords? Fuck NO! She's been shot in the head! She can't possibly read the letters from her constituents about all of the stuff that has happened since 01/08! Fuck her. I DON'T and haven't had, a representative since 01/08/2011. That's how evil Gabby Giffords can become... She would walk, zombie-like, from Houston to D.C. if Nancy Pelosi compells her to.

484 Morning rons and ronettes, just watched a video of Alex Jones now claiming that Seal Team Six actually died trying to kill Bin Laden and Obama had their deaths attached to the downing of the chopper so as to not have a Carter moment in a failed military op. Seal Team Six was an inside job!!!

You mean they are going to do to the city what they already did to upstate?  When the bonds that financed the Thruway were paid off, the tolls were not removed, they were raised.

489 I always wonder how Dems would feel if the military were to unionize and we appointed Steve King as Union Head. Collect all those union dues for the RNC. Heads would be s'plodin.

Posted by: TendStl at August 07, 2011 04:22 AM (0gKao)

490 the comments after that Verizon story are downright frightening.  Every "at will" private sector employee I know, across the board, has taken a huge pay cut "to keep everyone working", now, probably pays for their own health insurance and it is not as good as before, takes fewer vacation days, mostly attached to weekends to not have so much time away from the office, still may have a 401K but the company no longer contributes and is afraid to lose their job, every minute, every day.

so, yeah, who is going  to have any sympathy for the verizon folks?
