Overnight Open Thread-Sith Edition [CDR M]
— Open Blogger

Evenin' Moron Nation! Another work week has come and gone. Time to pour yourself a cold one and dive on in to the ONT. Sith style.

Yup. You know the economy is in the tank when our favorite Sith Lord is moochin' on the side of the street. Even the Emperor knows another stimulus package won't help. Here are some more awesome pics of our favorite Sith Lord. As for some economic doom that would make a Sith blush, how about 4.2 Million Americans Are Living Mortgage Free in their homes for up to 5 years and counting. Now, all you wanna be Sith types need some Extreme Substances to go along with your sorcery schtick. AboveTopSecret has got that covered for you with their Top 10 Most Extreme Substances.
A lot of things burn with astounding intensity; Styrofoam, napalm, marshmallows are just the beginning. But what if there was a material that could set sand on fire? Okay, so clearly that was a loaded question, but it was a necessary set-up. Chlorine triflouride has the dubious honor of being terrifyingly flammable, to the point that historyÂ’s evil boy-scouts, the Nazis, deemed it too dangerous to work with. When people who consider genocide their lifeÂ’s goal donÂ’t want to use something because it is too deadly, it bears treating it with some caution. There is a story that a ton of the stuff was spilled once and caught fire, and it burned through 12 inches of concrete and another meter of sand and gravel before going out. I hate to say it, but in this case, the NaziÂ’s were right.

Man, if the Nazi's wouldn't mess with it, you know that's just Sitheriffic.

Now, how about some weapons. Here is a little video of a new Glock pistol called the Compact Ninja Glock. I think I know why Ahmahdinnerjacket thinks we can control tornadoes and stuff. Because we have the Ninja Glock that's why!

Alright Rum, I know you are in this video. So how was it?

Some interesting fapping facts. 12 minutes?!?! Man, you are doing it wrong.
Math for final figure: number of masturbatory aged people in US: 240,052,886; average session: 12 minutes; average frequency: 62.5 percent masturbate daily; therefore 153,053,044 masturbate a day; equals 7.5 minutes of everyoneÂ’s day (or 450 seconds a day); therefore, 797,151 Americans are masturbating right now.

Alright, since we had the Ninja Gun, how about a Ninja Dog. Damn clever dog.

Ok, I know Jedi is a friggin' religion down in Australia but this is just too much. A Star Wars Wedding. Ace wouldn't have liked it either. Not one Ewok there. The Sith in these photos aren't true Sith either. A true Sith would've crashed the party. And what's up with the bearded Leia?

Speaking of Ace. Here he is sporting his new look with Glee star Chris Colfer. Nice shades.

BEWARE these 9 Deadly Words Used By Women. Know these. It may save your life.

OK, the other night, Maet had the hottest 10 conservative ladies posted. I thought it would be fitting to then post The 10 Hottest Liberal Women. I gotta say, I'm not impressed with this list. At all. Nope. Not. At. All. It's horrifying actually.

Speaking of liberals, here are some facts about poop you may or may not have known.

Nude Video Gaming Party. Good lord. I was surprised there were some actual good lookin' ladies at this thing. No word on whether Congressman Weiner was there with his joystick.

Here's a list Flavorwire put together of The 10 Most Memorable TV Theme Songs. I don't agree with about half of these. No Airwolf? Magnum P.I.? Nightcourt? What do you all think?

Speaking of 80's themes. This beer commercial is awesome and features a theme from an 80's TV show rather well.

BTW, Duff Beer does exist. In Mexico, Colombia, Argentina or Chile.

Rushbabe sent this to me and you'll probably never guess what the ad is for. Well, except that the damn embed function for this says it at the bottom!

Dirt Devil-The Exorcist from MrPrice2U on Vimeo.

Now this little video could've been a bit better but I like the idea. If only it were true that George Lucas HAD been kidnapped and someone else had put out the dreck known as the prequels. Princess Leia is pretty hawt in this. In a not so princess way.

So morons, who do you choose? Jessica Biel or Jessica Rabbit? Decisions, decisions.

17 It is naive to portray the routine police questioning in Delaware as a major sex crime investigation.  The cops refrained from taking the girl down to the precinct so it's basically a non-story.  The much  larger issue is why the press is still pursuing this kerfuffle after two weeks.  There hasn't been perjury to the FBI or any other law enforcement agency. If the coverage of this nonsense continues even through the weekend I'll be surprised.

33 I have it narrowed down to a county. I think we are looking at houses in four different cities.

The location was the hardest part for us.  I don't have a great sense of direction, so basically what I had to do was scout out the houses in advance, including doing drive times for work etc on Google maps, and then go to see the interiors with the realtor.  Really tiring, but it did make it a lot easier (emotionally) to pull the trigger quickly and decisively when we found the right house in the right neighborhood.

Best of luck to you!

49 MSNBC is actually "live blogging" reading Sarah Palin's e-mails. Here's one particularly damning piece that shows just how evil Palin is:

4:27 p.m. AT (8:27 p.m. ET): As the mother of two teens during her time in office, Palin sought some help from her staff in keeping the alcohol in the governor’s mansion away from young people. She wanted it boxed up and “removed from the People’s House,”

54 All right, I guess I have to show up for this one. We're no closer to a new Death Star, thanks to the profligate ways of my predecessors, and the tight credit environment, and frankly interstellar travel is getting a *bit* expensive, what with gas prices, so I have no excuses.

At some point I'm going to bail to play Oblivion, which I spent all day yesterday and part of the day today reinstalling, troubleshooting, and installing mods. If it doesn't work, I am *seriously* going to force-choke a bitch.

Most people are unaware that jedi (or Sith) mind control works at a distance, if you bother to actually study under a real master, not one of those commonwealth correspondence fakers. Useful with highway patrol. Little-known fact.

Sith are generally fond of Glocks, such as the 17L, seeing as how they're all black and utilitarian and crap. Mind you, I prefer a somewhat bigger bore IYKWIMAITTYD.

Of course, as someone who has carried two glocks and 90 rounds of ammunition concealed (short story I'm not going to tell you), I have to say that Glock video is like sleight-of-hand, only lame. Next time guys, phone it in, it will be better.

Well, if you can conceal two large-frame firearms, you're halfway there.

With a properly cut suit and good posture, you can hide a submachinegun. A carbine is harder but I've seen it done, under a coat. Unobtrusively. Never tried that.

The fact she has this gig in the first place means somebody had a good couch interview.  I mean really, how does that happen?  Who gave her this job?  oh thats right, probably Weiner recommended her, as she got the gig while he was banging her.

Explains why she was defending him.  He's still his meal ticket.  haha pathetic

Then you'd know he was kidding around at least.  But you've got to wonder if there isn't a bit of the psychology of liberals and conservatives at play here.  We can think of Conservative media women that are pretty hot, but as for liberals it sort of seems lacking.

Could it be because of their feminist push in their circles.  The women are likely to be jealous of the cute looking liberal girl and despise her for apparently wanting to be appreciated for her looks.  The men are going to loathe to promote them for fear of being accused of only promoting her because of her looks.

Meanwhile conservatives are looking at the women and going "hey she's got the right idea, oh and she's kind of cute too."  So no real jealousy from other conservative women so they'll like her and no fear for the guys because there isn't a stigma in noting that they're hot.

132 NY Times article: Advertise on NYTimes.com Says He Sent Private Messages to Girl Representative Anthony D. Weiner said on Friday that he had exchanged at least five private messages on Twitter this spring with a 17-year-old Delaware girl who became an admirer of his after hearing him speak during a high school trip to Washington. Mr. Weiner’s spokeswoman, Risa Heller, did not provide copies of the messages, but said they were not inappropriate. “According to Congressman Weiner, his communications with this person were neither explicit nor indecent,” Ms. Heller said. A member of the girl’s family who spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect her identity characterized the messages as “harmless” but expressed concern that Mr. Weiner had communicated privately with the teenager, a high school junior. The family was aware that there had been exchanges between Mr. Weiner and the girl but assumed that all of their conversations had taken place on a public Twitter feed. Then a scandal erupted last month over a photo Mr. Weiner sent of himself in his underwear to a college student. Last week, Mr. Weiner acknowledged that he had sent other explicit photos and messages to at least six women he met over social media. The family member said: “I am angry. This is surreal and unbelievable. It is absolutely crazy. We are just regular people who go to baseball games and basketball games, as ordinary and plain as can be.” In the past few days, the girl and her family have become subjects of intense interest in the news media. On Friday afternoon, the local police arrived at their home and asked the girl and her mother to bring the girl’s phone and computer to the police station so they could be checked to make sure no crime had occurred. The family member said the family complied, and did not expect any further action to be taken. The girl’s contact with Mr. Weiner started in early April, after her trip to Washington. The congressman spoke to her school group, and she began following him on Twitter, posting a public message saying how much she liked his speech. Two days later, Mr. Weiner began following her on Twitter. On her profile, she says she aspires to be president. In a private message he sent to her, he said: “How hip am I talking to a future president.” Delighted that she had heard directly from a congressman, the girl wrote a public post on her Twitter feed: “talking to Rep Weiner from New York right now! is my life real?” At the time, a group of conservatives was monitoring Mr. Weiner’s Twitter activity, after noticing that he was sending messages to a woman from Tennessee. When members of the group saw the girl’s post, suggesting she was engaging in a private conversation with Mr. Weiner, they alerted the congressman that they were watching him. “@RepWeiner new pal is a high school girl. First porn actresses now little girls. Weird.” They also copied the girl on some of the messages they sent to him, so she sent Mr. Weiner a private message telling him that she felt she was being harassed. He apologized to herin a private message, and removed her from the list of people he followed on Twitter. About a month later, Mr. Weiner sent out a public message saying he wanted to attract more followers on Twitter and offered to follow people on his account if they wanted him to. The girl responded to the appeal and posted a public message to him: “Don’t forget me. I used to follow you.” On May 16, he began following the girl again, and over the next 10 days they had three private message exchanges, the family member said. One was about baseball. In another, he replied to a question she had about legislation by jokingly asking for her advice, the family member said. His third message to her was in response to a link she posted to a YouTube video of his giving a speech, with the message: “My true love.” In a blog post on Tumblr, she later shared the contents of that private message from him. In it, Mr. Weiner appeared to liken himself to a superhero. “I came back strong,” he wrote. “Large. Tights and cape. ...” On the Tumblr blog post she added, “My favorite Congressman.”

Looked like pretty heavy pro-Weiner spin to me.  How many times did they mention the "conservative group" that was following Weiner's tweets?  And who was it who was committing the bad act?  Why, the "harassing" conservative group of course!

And no other context.  Nothing about Weiner's multiple lies and attempts to make scape goats out of the whistle blowers.

I'm still annoyed with the attitude of the girl's parents. Like it is all cool that a 46 year old man is privately messaging their high school aged daughter, who is talking about blow jobs and using honey mustard for lube.

That is one effed up household that is "just regular people who go to baseball games and basketball games, as ordinary and plain as can be.”

Unless this is the new normal for Democrats? Which, really is probably true given their pasionate defense of someone like Roman Polanski.

As a teenager in the 60Â’s, my heroes were Ayn Rand and William F. Buckley.  If you were not a teenager (or older) back then, it might be impossible to understand how unusual that was.  I went to a high school where many “Honors” level students were Leftists; certainly, I was the only outspoken non-Leftist.  My college (in the 70Â’s) was nearly entirely Leftist, and again, I was an outspoken non-Leftist, though with several others on board.  And since, for reasons not worth disclosing, my environment has been Leftist.

The vindication and joy felt with the triumph over Soviet communism, and the seeming contemporaneous global acceptance of free markets, has been completely negated by the dispiriting triumph of Marxism over the values of liberty in all the commanding institutions of America, bizarrely including the otherwise vibrant organs of free enterprise.

Now comes a book by David Mamet.  I am a Sarah Palin lover, and so have an extravagant perspective on contemporary politics.  Integrity, principle, and an understanding of the human condition (intuitive or otherwise) means a lot to me.   After all these years, I am still unsophisticated.  Sarah Palin, to me, is the best person to confront this low dishonest age, given she has the rare fortitude to do it.

David MametÂ’s book The Secret Knowledge is and has everything the critics of Palin believe she lacks.  The best Conservative document in existence is War and Peace, and Mamet perfectly refers to it.  Mamet makes observations about marriage and abortion (for example) Sarah could not make (I assume, because almost nobody could, regardless of intellect), as well as explaining the central cultural enigma of modern America, which is why so many young American men are so screwed up.  He restates amazing insights by Hayek, Sowell and others, less dryly.  He is a playwright, a dramatist, an observer, a moralist who understands the origins of morality - - generations of common sense, a/k/a Conservatism.

There are a thousand wonderful things in this book, things merely pleasurable to read, regardless of the political implications.  Ace could very well have influenced Mamet, because Mamet has a thesis (in some respects) strikingly similar to the original insights of Ace.  Maybe it is a coincidence, maybe not.  This book is so human, so Down To Earth, so delightful (sardonically and pop-up unexpectedly), maybe even Leftists might pause.

But thatÂ’s the rub, brilliantly explained by Mamet.  Leftists do not have the intellectual capacity to understand the subtlety and sophistication of MametÂ’s book.  Read the book to find out why, not that Mamet is crude enough to state it explicitly.  He is deeper than that.

Sarah is the personification of MametÂ’s book.  Who gets it is not the point.  It is just there to get.

Mamet and his book might be a spark, it could be a spark, let's hope it is a spark.  It is an amazing reading experience for the right sort of Conservative.

Of course, that doesn't stop the tech blogs from reporting it as "that evil Republican dominated legislature causing problems for us liberty minded geeks in NY and SF.

Non-sequitur.

It looks like that was console, from the slow and imprecise aiming, camera control, and character movement.

I love the Star Wars universe, art, and stories, but over the years the gameplay and user interface has degraded. They got better from like JK2 to JK3, but KOTOR was clumsy and like most new games it looks like this was created for consoles and ported to the PC without taking into account the PCs control capabilities.

Basically it looks (without being able to tell because they yammer about everything but this in the videos) like it was designed for thumbsticks and triggers rather than, say, a mouse (which is precise).

I would definitely want to play a demo first, but I'm not really into "social grinders."

238 @235 That's possible. I can't imagine a Court in Tennessee putting itself in a situation where they would not be focusing on very specific cases and instead just hearing any and every complaint of offense no matter how silly. But the key to me is the sites like Engadget, Ars Artechnica, and Gizmodo, left out the fact that HB 300's main sponsor is Charlie Curtiss (D-TN43), and so the fault lies with him and the legislature of making a dumb decision and not Gov. Haslam or the Tennessee GOP hating freedom. Those blogs sings Obama's praises with any article about him talking about Net Neturality or Free Broadband Internet for everyone.

Definitely need to go low-end on the graphics demands.

Any other older RPGs you never played? Like KOTOR or Neverwinter nights (may still be too demanding on the hardware) or Fallout 1 & 2 (NOT 3), Nox, Diablo 2, Morrowind (look up online tweak guides)...

The Old Republic demo had jerky player and camera movement like a console. KOTOR on PC did too, because it was designed for a controller.

Posted by: Merovign, Dark Lord of the Sith at June 10, 2011 11:48 PM (bxiXv)

I don't know.  I'm watching the demo and you can see the guy mouse pointer moving around some and selecting options at the bottom.  It just seems more like a case of someone playing for the first time.  And so not completely familiar with everything.

It is on DVD. I've seen it. I don't think I have it though. It wasn't one of my favorite movies, to tell the truth. I barely remember the songs from it. But being able to pull the sword out was really cool. Since they pick two adults to do it first, then a little kid to be the one to pull it out. I don't know when they stopped doing the show - I just noticed I hadn't seen it in years.

345 376 The Black Cauldron and Robin Hood aren't really pushed anymore either.

Disney has done its damnedest to pretend The Black Cauldron never existed.  Took them 13 years to finally put it out on VHS, and then it was sold as kind of a curio for adult collectors.  I'm not sure it ever made it to DVD at all.  Its characters sure as hell never turn up on merchandise or in the parks.

Seems like most of the Disney features from the '60s and '70s are being buried these days.  In the cases of most of them (Robin Hood included) that's just as well.

394 Good...evening?

Showed up for Federal jury duty selection today and managed to stay awake for 27 hours in the process without murdering anyone.  Working nights sucks like that.

The case involved some dude possessing, receiving and transmitting kiddie porn.

Now since all defendants are innocent until proven guilty, had I been chosen to serve (I wasn't) I would have looked at the facts in the most objective manner possible and decided based on the evidence and the law.

But I'm gonna tell you what, I've seen enough To Catch A Predator shows to see that the man was guilty as sin.  I mean he might as well have had teh word "pedophile" tattoed right across his forehead.  This tiny, scrawny, shifty eyed little fuckwad...I'll tell you what, should the gub'mint ever finally decide to give me full authority to decide who lives and dies on a whim, I would have saved all 75 potential jurors the headache, taken the guy out back and shot him in the balls before strangling him to death with piano wire.  Guilty, guilty, guilty.

Paultard. I just don't get Birchers. Very strange vibe from the very few I have actually ever talked to. But, granted, most of those conversations were in the early 80s. I guess from what I have read they (the Birchers) are trying to get a little more mainstream as of late.

Nice idea, wrong way. You need a fairly sophisticated computer program to translate control of the props (fans) into movement.

It can be done, but you can't keep up with it manually.

Such a computer, on the other hand, could be the size of a large cellphone, redundant, and powered by a backup battery.

With the right software, that could work.

Oh, and the prop design is comical.

There are better power-to-wright ratios available.

BUT if he's not too attached to any particular component and gets the right crew on board, that could be a Hell of a toy.
