— Open Blogger Yup. I drew the short straw and I got the ONT tonight. Or is it that you guys get the short end of the stick? Whatever. Drink up. It's time for the ONT!
Now let's get this party started with some music. Here is Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser playing their arrangement of Welcome To The Jungle by Guns N' Roses. They got some flair too.

Beware this group of people called Bronies. It seems that there is a growing group of adults that are totally into My Little Pony. Wow.
Each day, out-of-work computer programmer Luke Allen self-medicates by watching animated ponies have magical adventures. The 32-year-old, who lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, loves his daily fix of My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, and he’s not alone. He’s part of a growing group of “bronies” (“bro ponies”) — men who are fans of a TV show largely intended for a much younger audience.
“First we can’t believe this show is so good, then we can’t believe we’ve become fans for life, then we can’t believe we’re walking down the pink aisle at Toys R Us or asking for the girl’s toy in our Happy Meal,” Allen said in an e-mail to Wired.com. “Then we can’t believe our friends haven’t seen it yet, then we can’t believe they’re becoming bronies too.”
This video is timely in light of the whole Wiener saga thingee. A new opera in London called Two Boys put together this video and highlights our weird behavior from your everyday facebook/twitter/myspace/??? world and bring it into the real world.
How about a little Emo Kitty since it is Caturday.

I'm sure Congressman Weiner wishes he had heard of this extension for Chrome. Save Yourself from Weiner-Caliber Online Embarrassment with Internet Shame Insurance. Too funny.
Lifehacker also asked a great question in this article, How Long Can A Hard Drive Hold Data Without Power. Hope to see a follow on how long CDs/DVDs/Blu-Rays can realistically last.
A little montage of 250 Introductions of People, Groups and Things. Makes we want to break out the movie collection and watch some of these!
Alright 'ettes, since I'm a giver, here are your The Hottest Conservative Men. I'm sure I'll be on the list this year.

Crap. When the TSA see's this, they won't let us fly with luggage. Just as well since Delta charges an arm and a leg to bring your bags. Cheaper to just buy clothes at your destination. Pretty clever idea by these thieves. One question though. Why the hell were they using a 6 ft dude in the suitcase instead of, like, you know, an ewok or something?

Music contest. Which version of Land of Confusion do you like? Genesis or Disturbed.
This is the Ginger of the Week. Meet Esme Bianco from Game of Thrones. If you've seen the show, hmmm, hmmm.
Remember, in Soviet Russia, kitteh pet you.

I hate them both. Genesis is a screed against Reagan. Disturbed covered on their album as an attack on Bush, and the rest of that album is a pathetic piece of pussy hatred against our soldiers.

Also, it looks like the scalps from todays ban-a-thon are

Kaspar Hauser

Bordo.
feel free to add names as you get them.
It's a shame, I like steuic.

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch, the public interest group that forced the release of Hillary Clinton’s daily White House schedule on March 20, announced today that the preliminary results of an investigation into Senator Barack Obama’s record as an Illinois State Senator show that his statements about the maintenance of his files are suspect. Judicial Watch’s investigation included the filing of a Freedom of Information Act request with the Illinois State Archives to obtain his records and papers...
During a campaign stop last fall, Obama at first claimed he did not have any records of his eight years in the Illinois state legislature. “I don't have — I don't maintain — a file of eight years of work in the state Senate because I didn't have the resources available to maintain those kinds of records.”

One claim he's making is that the calls for resignation are coming from Democrats who aren't safe in their House seats like Rangel is, so they have to pretend they're offended by Weiner to hang on in the next election.

I bet Apostle Claver is a fine looking man - naked. 'Not a big fan of his outfit.
The rest are ok.

Mind you, she is the only white woman I find attractive at all. Most of the "bombshells" out there are emaciated bugeyed freaks with either no tits or fake tits. Part of the reason I like Christina, actually. I like the natural look.
Much better than the heroin chic broads that occupy Hollywood nowadays. It's also why I love Beyonce'. Well, I love what she looks like, but she does a lot of stupid things.

Gay fashion designers, yes, but I'm of the understanding that it's because gays seem to have a natural proclivity towards preferring lean bodies with zero fat. Well, gay men at any rate. Lesbians (real ones, not the Hollywood variety) lean towards the beer bellied truck driver look.

One sample: Near Greensboro, Vt., there was a monument to two colonial-era residents, “killed by Indians and buried where they fell.” One was Constant Bliss. The other was Moses Sleeper. This was when I was a child — don’t know whether the monument is still there. But I remember thinking that “Constant Sleeper” would have been a great name.

I am officially a footnote to history for talking about this subject (specifically, how to ensure that your digital data survives as technology changes) back in the mid-1990s. I wrote a piece for the Wall Street Journal's Manager's Journal editorial feature called "Why Johnny Can't Read His Data," and it was cited in a report on data preservation issued by the Commission on Preservation and Access and the Research Libraries Group.

Just don't try to race any front-range storms or anything if you're not used to them. It's usually a looong way to the next place and you don't want to be stuck on a freeway, or potentially floodable scenic highway, in a blinding rain.

Okay, I fully recant the diss against the "bronies." I see from the My Little Pony link that Lauren Faust, who worked on The Powerpuff Girls, is the showrunner for the new My Little Pony. Any interest in the Million Dollar Highway between Silverton and Ouray? If you're afraid of heights it might not be a good choice. Otherwise, I remember it as being very beautiful, and I wasn't driving so I have no idea how difficult it is. I wouldn't reccomend the Silverton-Durango narrowgauge railroad though. It's a lot cooler in theory than practice and quite expensive.

It's a knockout. Last time I was on it was 1995 when WDOT was still paving the road over Dead Indian Pass. The view from the top, especially to the south and southwest is knock-your-socks off beautiful. And to top it off, some of the onstruction workers in one of the WDOT suburbans had glued fins to the PVC tubes on the top of their vehicle to make them look like Sidewinder missiles, so there was a bit of humor in the wilderness, too. We turned on the east side away from Cody and went on up towards Red Lodge and Absaroka instead.

My mom grew up in the western suberbs of Denver over 40 years ago and, from what she says, Boulder was a lost cause back then.
Boulder has been left wing as long as I've lived in the area, which dates back to the 70s. Many parts of Boulder County is relatively conservative, but the City of Boulder overwhelms it in congressional voting and the like.

Lyda knew she would never go as far as Sarah, ergo the snot. Just ridiculous.
Of course, nobody knew the demented asshat would pick up on it and magnify it so outrageously, but Lyda started that and tried to start much worse.

Okay, I fully recant the diss
against the "bronies." I see from the My Little Pony link that Lauren
Faust, who worked on The Powerpuff Girls, is the showrunner for the new
My Little Pony. If its DNA includes that majorly awesome show, then
there must be something to this "bronies" phenomenon that is not totally
eunuchified.
Posted by: stuiec at June 11, 2011 11:28 PM (HMdeP)
Yeah, and she's married to the guy who created Powerpuff Girls. I also recalled seeing a quote from her some months back about how, when she was given the Pony job, she wanted to shake things up.
"From what I've seen since I've grown up, little has changed. To look at the quality of most girls' cartoons, it would seem that not one artist really cared about them. Not one designer, not one background painter, not one animator. Some of the more well-meaning, more expensive animated productions for girl audiences may look better, but the female characters have been so homogenized with old-fashioned “niceness” that they have no flaws and are unrelatable. They are so pretty, polite and perfect; there is no legitimate conflict and nothing exciting ever happens. In short, animated shows for little girls come across as boring. Stupid. Lame.
"This perception, more than anything, is what I am trying to change with My Little Pony."
And if there are enough "bronies" now that Hasbro is marketing to them and not just the kids, I guess she did something right. Granted, you got the usual "single guy in the basement watching cartoons" demographic, but that demographic's always been around, for every cartoon, and isn't quite big enough to account for the level of attention this has gotten lately.

A "reactionary" is that part of the Right which forms the Left's caricature of all those who align themselves to the Right. Ace and I'd estimate over half the "morons" here are right-libertarians. RS McCain is conservative, as is the Blogmocracy. And then... there's those who just say "fuck it".
Lawrence Auster is I think the Internet's best reactionary; there was also Mencius Moldbug but he mostly said what he needed to say. Thinking Housewife is another. Foseti. There's others out there. Ace used to have a commenter by the nic "Reactionary" - not sure if he's returned during that month or two I bailed on conservative sites.
Reactionaries are united around democracy-skepticism. They don't concern ourselves overmuch with who will win an election. Moldbug worried more about who will win power; a bit like the Left does. Auster and the Housewife are more into crying out in the wilderness.
There are splits in the reactionary-sphere: over Jews (I'm pro-Judaism as are Auster and Moldbug; but then there's Mangan and alt-right); and over religion (Auster is against "Darwinism" and, well...). I tolerate the religious reactionaries; I will always consider antiSemitic reactionaries to be scum.
In total, I prefer reactionaries to conservatives and libertarians; but the reactionaries need to clean up their house. I'm not exactly sure how they can do that though.

M80B heh I remember some episodes of sleep-deprivation-induced hallucination - like I was sitting in the front row of this talk, really super tired, and I swear, I thought I saw the speaker motion to everyone with his hands to "get out! get out!" - and I almost got up out of my chair but I shook my head and realized I was hallucinating
that was a little scary

I know and I agree. My point is more that it will be interesting to see what the
Dems say later today, which will provide insight into how they plan to completely shift the narrative back to Mediscare. As for the Rs, they should be taking the opportunity to expose Obama's economic incompetence.

They've tried but they need to do it in a way that catches public attention more. I've tried to hold out hope that perhaps people don't really need catchy slogans and emotional pitches to reach the average uninformed voter, but it seems they do. The Rs have some great ideas but most of them are still lousy at communication. Though I did note that at least one important House committee is getting a new press secretary, so maybe that might help a bit.

Not exactly the same, but frosh year of college, a group from the dorm went to the movies. That night I had a dream. I was so friggin' realistic ... I dreamed I ask one of the girls how she liked the movie and she said, 'Oh, it was all sold out, so we decided to see xyz'.
So that next Friday, 'the gang' is getting ready to go to the movies and I asked, 'Well, are you going to try to see original movie this time, and the girl looks at me and says, 'What for? We saw that last week!' And I said, 'You told me it was sold out...' And she's, 'I never said that ...'
yadda yadda yadda

That's actually only half true. Yes, there are some dumb examples, but also clever ones. The problem is, the medium is run by the opposition. So you're not really going to see that cleverness much on TV, or even through ad agencies, which are often sources of sabotage.
Communication *is* our weakness, it's just not all laid at the feet of the R's.
That being said, they have just not yet decided to give the finger to the MBM and go *entirely* around, do our *own* ads, do our *own* internet work, make dedicated ad agencies, rip the magic carpet out from under the MBM and the "communication industry", which is not far from the MBM, ideologically, IMO.
And make it part of the campaign when the MBM won't run ads unedited.
And the GOP is reluctant to do that, to say the least.

No, "obtuse" is devoting your blog to a story about somebody's cock for several weeks at a time, and then losing your fucking shit one day when the half of your readership that actually gives a damn about said story does nothing more than comment on the very subject you created your latest thread about.
Actually, wait. That's something else.

^ This is what I'm referencing when I talk about communication weaknesses. They're great at pressers, editorials and interviews, Facebook updates, websites, and other such mediums, but they really need to be churning out more ads. They need to share their research in a way that can be seen by a larger audience.

How long can data last on a hard drive without power? I don't think it makes much difference whether it has power or not. The data is nothing more than a magnetic spot on the disk. Eventually it will lose its magnetism unless it is rewritten periodically.
CDs and DVDs though not so. A music CD or data CD/DVD professionally made is a series of etched pits in an aluminum foil disk coated with plastic. As long as the disk isn't physically damaged it should last virtually forever. Home burnt disks though are not etched. They use a laser to burn a different color into a material beneath the plastic. I have some disks that still are working great after 10 or 15 years.
That being said, the government only allows you to count them for 5 years for the purposes of required record storage. (Nuke Plants are required to keep a host of records for the "life of the plant" plus 10 years)

But in its prime, the cassette was an astoundingly good-sounding medium, considering its natural limitations of slow speed, narrow tape and captive tape path. I usually rolled my own, and always used either Maxell or TDK. Typically, the tapes I recorded in the Eighties and early Nineties still sound good enough to make them worthwhile to dub if I don't have another source for the material.
Towards the end of the run, sadly, the quality of even Maxell and TDK blank tapes took a nosedive; tapes I made in this era are often unusable now because of phasing problems, especially at the beginning and end of the side. And the irony of it is that by that time I was finally well-heeled enough to get a really good deck.

As far as longevity goes, however, the most stable medium I've found is the coarse-grooved shellac disc. I have records dating back to 1900, and they still play clearly. As long as they are kept from moisture, heat and physical damage, they hold up better than anything else.
