Prepping For The Zombie Apocalypse: How to Build the Ultimate Survival Shotgun

Okay a good reliable shotgun is always nice to have around - for apocalypses or any other social occasions. But can a shotgun also become an entire survival kit? Well Creek Stewart set out to find out.

For this project, I decided to build a survival kit using a shotgun platform–creating the Ultimate Survival Shotgun. My challenge was that everything had to be included in or on the gun itself–no extra pack items or containers. Below is what I did as well as the survival logic behind each decision.

And this is what he came up with:

survival_shotgun.png

In addition to ammo, flares, flashlight/compass, knife/bayonet, he also managed to stuff a complete survival kit into the pistol grip and stock. This includes a multi-tool, saw, fire-making kit, and the following which all pretty much guarantees a good time in Vegas:

4”x6” Aluminum Baking Pan, Trash Bag, Fishing Kit, 2 Non-Lubricated Condoms, Water Purification Tablets, Emergency Survival Blanket, First Aid Supplies, Carmex Lip Balm, Whistle, Small Bic Lighter, Paracord, and Snare Wire.

And here it is in action.

As Creek says - if the zombies eat your brains while you're carrying this, it's your own damn fault. Has Obama Lost the Jews?
Short answer: no.
Jews are not going to vote against Obama, at least not on the scale indicated in a recent poll.

...I reach my conclusion not based on the quality of the polling, but the reality of what I hear and see day in and day out. Purely anecdotal observations: Obama will lose some Jewish support, on the magnitude of 10% (give or take) less than in 2008, but Jews still will vote significantly in favor of Obama.

Want to know why? This is why:

“In my house growing up, The Times substituted for religion. If The Times said it, it was the absolute truth.”

ItÂ’s true, like it or not. IÂ’ve lived it my whole life, and there is no getting through to most of these people for whom liberalism is a religion.

Dennis Prager has long made the point that while most American Jews are ethnically Jewish their real religion is liberalism. So realistically the best the GOP can hope for is for Jews to sour on Obama enough that they don't bother turning out to vote in the usual numbers.

Get A Job You Lazy teens!
Only 25% of all American teens have summer jobs this year - the lowest rate since WWII.

How come? Well letting teens work at part-time jobs (or any jobs) seems to have fallen out of favor. And then you have the current economy.

So what is going on? There are two main answers. First, more teenagers are staying in school or choosing to do prep programs over the summer, at their own behest or by order of their helicopter parents. Second, young workers vying for menial jobs have faced increased competition from older workers and immigrants.

Indeed, a lot more teenagers are enrolling in summer school, and it goes a long way to explaining their dwindling participation in the workforce. In the summer of 1985, about 17 percent of teenagers attended some kind of summer school. Now, more than half do. On top of that, thousands more kids are taking other test-prep, advanced, and remedial classes.

Is 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' Too Politically Incorrect for NYC?
Apparently so since activists have dubbed it 'offensive' and don't want it to be shown:

A petition is circulating to stop an outdoor screening of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” next month at a Brooklyn Park. The beloved romantic dramedy starring Audrey Hepburn, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in October, has long been considered problematic by many because of the bucktoothed, splenetic and bumbling Japanese character played by Mickey Rooney — an ethnic stereotype that was outdated even in 1961, and seems much more offensive than funny today.

A planned outdoor screening in Sacramento in 2008 was replaced by “Ratatouille” after a public outcry.

Nazi Sex Dolls!
Rockets, jets, nightvision scopes and ejection seats - the Nazis were advanced in everything and that includes sex dolls:

According to Mussolini’s Barber, a new book by Graeme Donald documenting bizarre episodes from military history, the Nazi sex doll project was launched in response to concerns that German soldiers might contract venereal diseases from prostitutes and loose women while occupying foreign countries and, uh, doing the Nazi nasty. In 1940 Heinrich Himmler, boss of the elite-and-terrifying S.S., got the go-ahead from Hitler for the “Borghild Project” to create a not-quite-life-size “gynoid” doll to provide German soldiers with inanimate company on those long occupation nights.

For extra creepiness, the blond-haired, blue-eyed dollar doll was otherwise left featureless in the facial area, supposedly to allow soldiers to picture their own wives, girlfriends, or favorite celebrities.

Shape of a Woman's Lips May Mean More Orgasms

Now, in a paper published last week by the Journal of Sexual Medicine, and called “Vaginal Orgasm Is More Prevalent Among Women with a Prominent Tubercle of the Upper Lip,” Brody has come out with another marker for female orgasm; the little spot just at the midline of the upper lip. Called the tubercle, it poofs out a little more in some people than in others. (Brody stresses he’s not referring to puffy Angelina Jolie lips, just to that one tiny spot.)

According to the results of an online survey featuring 258 mainly Scottish women with a mean age of 27 years, having a prominent tubercle means a woman has a greater chance of ever having had a vaginal orgasm.

Ok new ONT policy - all moronettes must post lip shots.

Thurman supports the United States Democratic Party, and has given money to the campaigns of John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and Joseph R. She is a member of the board of Room to Grow, a charitable organization providing aid to families and children born into poverty.  She serves on the board of the Tibet House  In 2007, she hosted the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway with actor Kevin Spacey.

106 The more  I think about it and read the differing opinions, the more I come to believe this (debt ceiling) is the hill to die on.  I don't think anyone is certain about what the results are if somehow a default occurs...either political results or real world results.

However, if the R's hold firm to demanding massive and actual cuts with no tax increases, they can at least make the case next year that they presented an alternative and the demos only want to spend much more and tax much more. Perhaps the voters reelect Obama and sweep the demos back into both chambers.  Well, then at least we know that the citizenry wants to ride the fast track to third world status and we can get on with it.  The R's can ride into history knowing they did the right thing.

At some point, you have to, IMO, go all in.  Push the chips towards the middle, and prepare to deal with the results.

119 "I'm thinking of getting a tactical shot gun, any suggests. Ideally I don't want to bankrupt myself getting it." (Assuming pump, 18-ish" barrel) Pick a brand: Mossberg or Remington. Then, pick a country of origin: USA or elsewhere (Red China). Then, if you choose USA, pick a trim level. Mossberg 500 (US) $$-$$$ has the Maverick 88 as its foreign-made version Remington 870 (US) $$-$$$$ has the NEF Pardner Pump Protector as its foreign-made version. Whatever you get, shoot the hell out of it. Learn how it patterns, and then run as much buckshot as you can through it. Try slugs, as well. And, learn how to pull it tightly into your shoulder since butt-to-shoulder fit is the key to managing recoil.

About 10 years ago when Warner Bros rereleased The Exorcist in theaters, I watched it in a packed house (great fun, by the way). Early in the film, the psychiatrist is in his office talking to the mother, and he pauses to elaborately pull a cancer stick from the pack, light up and blow smoke at the ceiling. The audience broke out in laughter. Kind of took me out of the film for awhile.

Posted by: booger at July 13, 2011 06:51 PM (9RFH1)

143 @126 self Shit. I forgot to mention why the Mossberg vs. Remington is the first branching choice: The manual of arms is different for both: Remington has a button safety on the trigger guard. Mossberg has a tang safety on top of the receiver. Remington's shell lifter stays down until the pump stroke starts moving forward while the Mossberg's shell lifter stays up except when the pump stroke is all the way to the rear. This impacts tactical reloading under stress. If you're used to the Mossberg way, then you can get your fingers caught in the lifter on a Remington. If you're used to the Mossberg way, then hitting the lifter is a huge WTF. I've read many things that make me believe that the Mossberg pumps are superior; however, I am an 870 guy.

Posted by: FRONT TOWARD LEFT at July 13, 2011 06:53 PM (qLdnK)

144 but I am thinking of making the upgrade given the way things are going in this country You might consider doing some research on building rifles from 80% receivers. AKs, ARs mostly, but others are available. LOTS of people build 'em nowadays. Perfectly legal, and has some advantages. Paperless (Rifle? What rifle, Mr. ATF Agent?) You know your rifle inside & out. Total control of the build quality. If you like building things as a hobby, it's kind of a no brainer.

I don't like smoking as a habit (and I've never tried it myself), don't like the smell of it or really anything related to it. I wouldn't date a smoker.

That said, I abhor the fact that it's been all but banned. Or in some cases, it really has been banned. It is one of the worst violations of the nanny state as far as I'm concerned. I may dislike the vice of smoking, but I damn well support people's right to do it.

Posted by: Rum, Goddess of Doom & Sith Lord at July 13, 2011 06:55 PM (YxBuk)

150 Very much so.  It is far more unhealthy to live in an environment of constant anxiety (the source of a slew of physical ailments) than to allow people to smoke.  The second hand smoke arguments are asinine.  And smokers are cheaper, too.  We tend to pop off more quickly than others, saving money on the way out.

That's total bullshit, pop.  I'm a smoker.  All you gots to do is walk outside, take a few steps away from the door and smoke yourself to death.  There is no earthly reason other people should have to stink because of you.  There is probably no other nanny-state legislation I approve of, but not allowing people to smoke wherever other people are is A-OK with me.

173 Gas is best for me - easy to get going and best for a crowd.  Halibut or salmon on a cedar or alder plank works great.  Charcoal may be best for chili though.

Posted by: Skookumchuk at July 13, 2011 10:56 PM (btzPD)

Oh man I disagree. I like what the charcoal smoke does to the top of the salmon in a weber grill. You don't get that with gas.

174 @111: agreed, this is the (first of many) hill as for the whole "default" situation; there is no logical, financial reason to default. It would be a conscious choice by the administration to forego debt service. Jimmy P had the goods earlier, I'll see if I can find the link. His basic point was that there is enough existing revenue to cover the debt service, medicaid/care, social security, and defense spending. Defaulting would be a decision by Obama to pay for all the other crap instead of servicing the debt first. Like when he took over General Motors and all the bond holders got paid off first.....no, wait...

175 The second hand smoke arguments are asinine. As I recall, the first second hand smoke studies were done on cancer rates for cocktail waitresses on the assumption that they were living in their customers' second hand smoke. Of course, the fact that most cocktail waitresses smoke like Soviet-built coal power plants apparently didn't factor into the equation.

178 You might consider doing some research on building rifles from 80% receivers. AKs, ARs mostly, but others are available. LOTS of people build 'em nowadays. Perfectly legal, and has some advantages.

Paperless (Rifle? What rifle, Mr. ATF Agent?)
You know your rifle inside & out.
Total control of the build quality.
If you like building things as a hobby, it's kind of a no brainer.

That's an option, but keep in mind that the rifle will be non-transferable.  Can't sell it, can't give it away, can't even leave it to your heirs after you die.

184 The original no-smoking ordinances were drafted and passed as labor laws.  The premise was that, if you had employees, you could not fill the air they breathe with disgusting shit.  I happen to agree with it.  I'm guessing y'all are not even smokers.  I am.  I don't smoke in my home, I don't smoke in my car, and I feel guilty if someone else has to breathe that crap.  It's a very vile habit, one which I have, but control (half a pack a day, I don't even worry about death and cancer and all that), but it really has no business impacting others.  And, by its very nature, if not controlled, it does.

187 That said, I abhor the fact that it's been all but banned. Or in some cases, it really has been banned. It is one of the worst violations of the nanny state as far as I'm concerned. I may dislike the vice of smoking, but I damn well support people's right to do it.

It's been several years since they put the restaurant smoking ban on the ballot here in Florida. I have allergies and asthma and still voted against it. I couldn't believe the righteous indignation from folks who call themselves conservatives yet voted for it anyway: "But I'd like to eat there and the smoke is too bad", as if it's was their God-given right to eat at any particular establishment. Where I live there were already websites dedicated to listing the non-smoking establishments, and there were plenty, but the idea that those folks couldn't have it their way, any place they damned well felt like it, drove them nuts. The bill passed.

BTW, that was the same year that saw constitutional amendments requiring smaller class sizes, prohibited the separation of mama pigs from their piglets, and...get this... high-speed rail. Yes. We, in Florida, have a constitutional right to high-speed rail.

191 183:  From the Morning Jay column; this pretty well sums up where I've landed and I hadn't read it prior to my post at 111 (italics in the original):

This is the partyÂ’s best bet: rein in spending as best it can in a debt ceiling deal as well as the upcoming budget, then take the battle on deficits to the November 2012 election, offering the public this position: Our entitlement system is no longer sustainable with the taxes we raise to support it; either taxes must be raised substantially or the system must be reformed; we Republicans oppose tax hikes and believe that reform of the system can be achieved without reducing benefits.

Obama will offer his alternative, and the people can decide.

If the people vote Republican in 2012, then the GOP can get its plan through. If they vote Democratic, well thatÂ’s that. And if they split their vote, then congressional Republicans can worry about finding common ground with Obama in 2013.

I don't know about Gunga Din, but comparing Huckleberry Finn and Breakfast and Tiffany's doesn't really go down smoothly.  Huckleberry Finn is more or less accurate to the period as far as racial attitudes are concerned, but Audrey's landlord is simply nonexistent either then or now.

242 Gas vs. Charcoal is a bullshit argument. Get an inexpensive version of each: A Charbroil (or equivalent low-end gas grill) and a 22.5" Weber One-Touch kettle. Also get a (Weber-branded--important this time) chimney starter. Cook with both. Get good at it. Settle into a preference, or settle into preferences for various meats. I do all five: 1. Gas for quick grilling 2. Weber Smokey Joe for nice grilled steaks for two 3. Smokey Joe grate on top of my chimney starter for black-and-blue steaks for one (me) when I'm on my own; 4. Offset smoker for grilling or smoking with hardwood coals left from burning borer-infested hardwood 5. Smokey Joe with same coals And, as much as I smoke, I have settled into doing pork in the electric oven in my house: 1. Buy a shitload (4 lbs or more) of sliced pork shoulder (aka "Country Style Ribs") dirt cheap (bone-in or boneless makes no difference) 2. Preheat oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit 3. Sprinkle ribs lightly with seasoning salt 4. In foil-lined cake pan with pieces *not* touching, bake for 3 hours or more 5. (CRITICAL) Drain foul-smelling juice and toss the foil 6. Sauce the ribs and put back into the oven Depending on when you want it ready: Immediate is 425 degrees for ten minutes Soon is 350 degrees for up to thirty minutes Whenever is "Warm" (usually 170 to 200 degrees) for as long as you need to keep it in a holding pattern You can do this with beef ribs, too, except: 1. Beef ribs are much more expensive 2. Add liquid (a can of Coca Cola works) 3. Cover them with foil and check periodically during the three hours--if liquid is diminishing, then seal the foils

My brother in law felt that way about the feds. He was a contractor for 20 years and was laid off. Then he tried like hell to get in the govt but those jobs are full of people who previously thought themselves too good. Stayed out of work for over a year and finally his old company offered him a temp spot in Brunai for 6 mo. He took it, went there got lonely... took up smoking and increased his drinking, had an affair, wife starts divorce. Comes back takes another temp job in Texas. Has stroke.

248 So, I was thinking of something earlier today.

The left likes to claim National Socialism and International Socialism are nothing alike, because, DUH! one is like Nationalist, and the other ones is like, uh, not.

And then to the extent that they will recognize that the modern left is also socialist, that too is completely different then the other two.

But in reality all they are is the exact socialist flavor of their native culture.

International Socialism is rigidly ideological because the left that gave birth to it was rigidly ideological - Stalin, Lenin, etc. After spending a generation at war Lenin had no problem with killing millions more to achieve the vision.

National Socialism is pragmatic and centered on the popular will, because the left that gave birth to it was awash in nominal German hyper-efficiency and the superiority of the collective Kulture reborn as a racial trait.

Modern Western socialism is centered on the supremacy of the narrative over the real preciously because it is born out of a culture of failure. WesSoc has been a continual drain on prosperity and rights, so they simply redefine reality. Constantly. History becomes a topic of scorn and derision because it must NOT be examined for the illusion to continue.

So you can have a democracy where all the important decisions are kept out of the hands of the people and their elected representatives because all you have to do is mouth democratic platitudes. You can have no rights save who to have sex with, but be free unlike your benighted ancestors who had to make all those difficult decision. You can even be materially better off, because your friends in the government can regularly tout how much they have upped your chocolate rations...

Posted by: Kratos (Ghost of Sparta) at July 13, 2011 11:17 PM (c0A3e) Actually, Fahrenheit 451 is just about the only "White Male Author" book Liberals still approve of, probably because of how ham-fisted its allegorical plot is. Nuance is not exactly a liberal strongpoint. It's OK to teach in the classroom, I suppose, but it's amazing just how much of the traditional Western canon has been dropped. Instead, another mediocrity - I forget the name, but it's about a cola nut or something in Africa, and the black hero's struggle against (What else but??) arrogant White Males - has suddenly been blessed as a PC "masterpiece" for the classroom. I read the book - it's as subtle as Bradbury, and it's chief insight into the human condition is, Native Good, White Bad. BLAH.

264 Yeah I won a cheap Aussie Gas Grille in some raffle. I've had it for a few years now. It's nothing special but it always works and the food tastes great

I spotted mine at Target (several years ago) and it was about $200. I couldn't afford to spend that on a grill so I kept looking for it to go on sale and, when it did, I called all the Targets in town to find a store that still had one. A store about 15 miles away had one remaining unit and put a tag on it for me. When I showed up there was Target employee standing next to it telling me it had been sold.

Sold? Then why is it still sitting here with a price tag on it.

Turns out an employee wanted it and she and several of her co-workers conspired to, quite literally, run me out of the store.

Before all was said and done I was so pissed I was standing at the front of the store on my cell phone speaking with a director of security at the HQ in Minneapolis. It wasn't the grill that was the issue by then, it was the treatment by the employees.

I would kill to see that video. It must have been hilarious to watch.

I got the grill for $100 so, in the end, they could bit my ass.

It depends on you. If the convenience of gas will make you grill more often, go that way. If the magic flavor of charcoal has you in its grip and won't let go, convenience be damned, go with charcoal. I started out with gas for the convenience, switched to charcoal for flavor, and have never looked back. Once you get used to the charcoal drill, and have a good way to ignite (I use either those soaked-sawdust-waxy-brick thingys or an electric igniter), it doesn't seem like much of a hurdle, the way it did when I was trying to use the stupid newspaper chimney. And chips or no, I could never get anything like that flavor over gas.

1) curse this commenting apparatus, using italics is full of booby traps

2) Mickey Rooney's character, who apparently is named Mr. Yunioshi, is not representative of any living person then or now.  Sure, he represents the idea American propagandists had of Japanese people in the 1940s, but in the movie he is presented as being in existence.  This is simply not true.

3) Re: the WWII posters themselves, I still maintain they are inaccurate.  The Japanese cultural evil was storied, ingrained, and one of the most diabolical strains of wickedness we have ever seen.  But the posters did not capture what we later learned about them and how their culture could have done this.

4) After reading the article, I say full speed ahead to whoever is sponsoring the showing.  But that doesn't mean yellowface is A-OK

330 "Ten minutes. That's the difference. Tops. " I do both, and I also cook with firepit coals from felled oaks on my property. In addition to the ten minutes, there is the "braking" factor of letting the coals die out or dumping them to a place where they can be smothered. A gas grill does not have this problem. There is also the question of energy density differences between a 20lb tank of propane and the equivalent of charcoal (in my experience, well over 200lbs of charcoal). Then, there is cleanup: Wood ash and water makes lye. Lye will eat anything with iron in it--even stainless steel. So, you have to dump the ashes when they are cold and scrape-out the grease-caked parts. I like charcoal-cooked food. I like gas-cooked food little less, but much more than anything I can cook under roof.

Charcoal all the way from my GrandDad's knee.  Then 7 years ago bought a combo gas/charcoal grill.  On the third tank exchange, mentioned that I seemed to be getting less and less grill time out of each tank, tank guy said the distributor was now only filling the tanks half-way due to "safety concerns."  Same price, though.

Yet Dr. Strangelove included a non-German actor portraying a German scientist with a strange impulse to do a Nazi Sieg Heil. Should Germans today be "offended" by the "German face" promoting the image of Germans as Nazis? You're only looking at ONE Asian character portrayed in the movies during the pre-PC past. There were also movies showing Asians as intelligent. (One can also ask: How did Asian movies portray - and continue to portray - whites??) Lots of movies portray white characters as bumbling idiots, too. Should Asians be exempt from that, merely because they are Asian?

Patsy Cline sang it best (written by two unknowns, Tiny Colbert and Bobby Geeling): "You used my heart like a plaything." WTF? 415 Well of course... just like we no longer looked at the Germans as Krauts, because the war ended. Yet Dr. Strangelove included a non-German actor portraying a German scientist with a strange impulse to do a Nazi Sieg Heil. Should Germans today be "offended" by the "German face" promoting the image of Germans as Nazis?

I didn't think about that much before, I have to admit.  Americans of German heritage need not worry, since a good deal of them don't even know they are German.  German nationals, on the other hand, tend to be a little more touchy about media that makes reference to Nazis.  Quite a while ago, my family hosted a German exchange student, and we avoided movies like Dr. Strangelove while she was there for precisely that reason.

You're only looking at ONE Asian character portrayed in the movies during the pre-PC past. There were also movies showing Asians as intelligent. (One can also ask: How did Asian movies portray - and continue to portray - whites??)

This path leads to a tu quoque fallacy.  Nevertheless, to my limited knowledge, most Asian movie has a benign view of whites as a race.  However, there are extreme racial problems within Japanese movies and animation (that anime stuff).  Japan as a whole is insufferably racist, and they don't give a damn if we think they are or not.  I would imagine your question would become much more relevant outside of America.

Lots of movies portray white characters as bumbling idiots, too. Should Asians be exempt from that, merely because they are Asian?

Posted by: CoolCzech at July 14, 2011 12:14 AM (kUaEF)

Hardly, and some depictions of whites in movies are wrong, but I don't know if you are referring to the same movies as I am.  perhaps some examples would be nice

418 I don't, but I think I have witnessed an odd phenomenon: my born-in-america half-Asian niece whines about "discrimination," even though it did not keep her out of a private, prestigious high school, did not keep her out of Vanderbilt University, did not keep her out of med school, did not keep her from getting a full scholarship at Vandy and at Med school. Nor will it keep her from being a wealthy doctor, from doing anything she ever wanted in her life. On the other hand, my born in Korea, heavily-accented wife couldn't care less if anyone dislikes her because she is Asian, and never had discrimination cramp her school and career aspirations, either. Is it something about growing up in our hyper-PC age that makes American non-100% whites convince themselves they are discriminated against, all evidence in terms of their life outcomes to the contrary? I don't get it.

So can you prove someone slighted you because you're Asian? Are you even Asian? If so, what kind? Chinese? Japanese? Korean? Hmong? Did they profile you for being a thief? Posted by: chemjeff at July 13, 2011 10:44 PM (s7mIC)

Does it have to be either/or?  There's no reason you can't just go with both.

I got me a $50 dollar kettle grill from Lowes that works perfectly fine.  Weber is a great brand and all but they're very expensive.  Mine is a...well...I have no idea.  But it cost half the price and I can light that sucker up all the same.  The quality of the food mostly depends on the skills of the man grilling it.

I don't own a gas grill, though the ones I typically see around aren't too expensive.

501 "Actually, if one pays close attention, he realized that Paul was a whore, too. It's just that his arrangement with his patron was a bit more subtle than Holly's." Of course. I did not remember this, but it does not affect the story. He is smitten with Holly, and she acknowledges him only insofar as it tickles her fancy to do so. Perhaps I missed that, in1958/1961, this was scandalous enough in and of itself to make it a plot twist? Maybe according to the feminists who had not yet then emerged as equals in a benighted world. The power that women hold over men is a power that might be older than time. In my reading, the point of _Breakfast_at_Tiffany's_ is that most people suck--even to people who suck to other people--and the key to happiness is to find somebody that doesn't suck.

Oh jeez, are you one of those fanboys that complain about the casting of white people for a live action adaptation of an anime show?

You know that stupid cartoon wasn't even Japanese, right?  It was American.  "Wapanese" as I've heard the style called.  It was some fake anime animation style, and really badly done at that, that the kiddies all love.  But...not Japanese.  Or Asian.  Just really shitty American animation.

My opinion, for what it's worth: It's not quite what one would expect. He provides details of where they are in the talks, his communication with the Speaker, his concern about our credit rating, and the mood of the House R Conference. I still don't trust him completely because he is such a political chameleon but it sounds like he's intent on seeing this through, for whatever motive he has.

Won't say much more here other than we shall see.

The characters in the show were all non-white, which the movie acknowledges by using Eskimos for the people of the white heroine's village, but somehow they didn't quite get around to making the characters that actually mattered the color they should have been.

The show was more explicit about nationalities than you might expect.  Earth was Chinese, Water was Eskimo, Fire was Japanese, and Air was Tibetan.  Anybody who knows a little bit about those cultures would easily see that.

Grow some rosemary over in the corner -- it's undemanding and easy. When you fire up the grill, go take a look at the rosemary -- chances are it'll be straggly and weedy looking, so take this opportunity to prune it. Put all the trimmings on the grill on the side you're not using......

But regarding the shotgun, there is a product called "XRAIL" for many shotguns, pump or semi-auto - the short of it is it makes it nose-heavy, but gives you up to 26 rounds of 12 ga 2 3/4 inch before reloading. Search for xrail on youtube to see an example. Holy crap. Not the fastest reload but I thing you can reload the first 8 the same as a normal shotgun.

As with all lighters, you might have to by a few until you get one with enough flame for survival purposes.
