Good evening, Moron Horde. With Maet away on a “business trip,” the cob-loggers and some special guests have agreed to take over ONT duties for a little while. This is the first ONT thread I’ve ever created, and in the spirit of full disclosure I have to admit that I do not often venture into the ONT. I have nothing against this fine AOSHQ tradition, it’s just that you people terrify me I’m not one to normally stay up this late.
And with that out of the way, itÂ’s time to fill a mason jar full of grain alcohol, grab some beef jerky and/or Doritos and get reading.
Meet Caius Veiovis, currently wanted for the murder of three HellÂ’s Angels bikers in Massachusetts. Shockingly enough, his appearance isnÂ’t the strangest thing about him. What is? WellÂ…
Then known as Roy Gutfinski, he and his 16-year-old girlfriend cut a teenager’s back with a razor and kissed as they licked the blood. The injury required 32 stitches to close. That’s right. Being a human freakshow is not enough for this guy. He’s also a wannabe vampire. Since he was arrested in Massachusetts, I figure he’ll be eligible for furlough in about a year. “The Walking Dead” returns October 18 at 9 p.m. on AMC.The Kennebec Journal reported Gutfinski claimed to be a vampire and a Satan worshipper. His name was changed while in prison.
I thought the first season was uneven, but overall it was some decent television. IÂ’m a bit nervous about what the early staff shakeup will mean for the showÂ’s quality, but IÂ’m hoping the source material is a strong enough foundation upon which to build a good series. Based on the new trailer, it looks as though theyÂ’re planning to deviate from the comic a bit more this season. I have no problem with that...just so long as they keep with the gory zombie killinÂ’.
Memo to guys: cheating is a bad idea for more reasons than you might think. Seriously, donÂ’t do it.
It seems SEIU has a chapter in the Ukraine.
A top city official leading the session asked Pashchuk to leave the meeting, prompting a guard to try to remove the activist from the room by force.Upon hearing about the incident, the union said Mr. Pashchuk is now ready for classes in Intermediate Racial Thuggery and Invisibility (to the Press) 101.In the ensuing scuffle, Pashchuk hit the guard in the head several times and bit his hand, chomping off part of his little finger.
The 2011 Ig Nobel Awards have been announced. This year’s award winners “include the inventors of a wasabi alarm clock, a study that shows we make better decisions when we have to pee, and the discovery of a beetle that likes to mate with a certain brand of Australian beer bottle.”
You canÂ’t stop the Sandman:
POSSIBLE ACTIONS TO PROVOKE, HARRASS, OR DISRUPT CUBA. In February of 1962, Brig. Gen. William Craig sent out a memo outlining ways to hurt CastroÂ’s regime.
11. Operation GOOD TIMES:That might have worked. After all, what kind of leader would openly enjoy the luxurious perks of his job - gourmet food, travel, vacations - while the people supporting that lifestyle were in economic distress? Surely the people would eventually throw such a jerk out of office, right? More at the link.a. Objective: To disillusion the Cuban population with Castro image by distribution of fake photographic material.
b. Concept: Prepare a desired photograph, such as an obese Castro with two beauties in any situation desired, ostensibly within a room in the Castro residence, lavishly furnished, and a table briming over with the most delectable Cuban food with an underlying caption (appropriately Cuban) such as "My ration is different." Make as many prints as desired on sterile paper and then distribute over the countryside by air drops or agents. This should put even a Commie Dictator in the proper perspective with the underprivileged masses.
TonightÂ’s ONT is sponsored by Johnny CashÂ’s to-do list:

I have this really original idea for a movie or TV show...
See, it's like this: suddenly, for some mysterious reason (maybe an Army experiment), the Dead start coming back to life! Only, they're like mindless, violent zombies that want to eat the living! And the only way to kill them, is to blow their brains out!
So basically, picture a world of a few living, hopelessly outnumbered people fending of huge masses of Walking Dead. The plot could be about how they are holed up somewhere, hiding, while trying to figure out where to go to survive.
I'm still working on a title... maybe, Night of the Walking Dead, or something like that?
So what do ya think? Too crazy? I know, I know... nothing like this has really been tried before...

No, not brainwashed at all. The Skinemax version.
Kratos, aged 17 years, 364 days, is engrossed in playing "Leisure Suit Larry", when on the old Philco tv Shannon Tweed appears in a bathing suit that leaves very little to the imagination. At this point, young Kratos decides to head to Hollywood to find and woo the siren. Kratos and his two best friends hop in the old Biscayne for said roadtrip that finds them running into all sorts of young ladies with ample bosoms that are barely constrained by skimpy bikini tops.
Upon arrival in Hollywood, our hero finds out that Miss Tweed is protected by all sorts of bodyguards that thwart any contact with her. Discouraged, Kratos is seen by the pool of the hotel he and his buddies are staying at, when all of a sudden, the pool cleaner offers him a job, the job, cleaning pools. Kratos jumps at the chance, and goes over right away to start on the first pool.
Upon his arrival, he gets to work, not even realizing who owns the house. As he is pulling his hose out of the pool, the homeowner asks if he would like to use his hose on her pool table, the homeowner, Miss Tweed. As we go to credits, the big smile on Kratos' face changes to his vinegar face.
And Scene.

Oh for f*x sakes Rick Perry.
Perry continued, “In 2001, we had this choice: Are we going to kick these children over to the curb and say you cannot have access to college? Because the fact of the matter is there’s no way they could pay the out-of-state tuition. And are we going to have them on the government dole over here because they’re not educated? Or are we going to have them in our institutions of higher learning, paying in state tuition, pursuing citizenship?”…
I think I'll go to Texas and just sit on the ground until someone gives me a home and a meal ticket. Because the fact of the matter is there's no way I can pay rent.

A few years ago, in a philosophy class, I was asked by the professor to give an example of pseudo-egoism as defined by Nietzsche. I answered that the black's unquestioning devotion to the Democrat party had led to them receiving nothing except being taken for granted by the Democrat party power-brokers but they are convinced that conservatives and Republicans are evil racists.
Hilarity then ensued when I told the young kids in class that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 would not have passed without Republicans and about 80% of Republicans voted for the bill compared to about 60% of the Democrats. Surprisingly, the professor didn't try to shut me down even though he was an avowed communist.

I wouldn't recommend watching it, but the thing that really got me--other than the sight of two men being beheaded--was that the victims showed absolutely no fear or emotion whatsoever. They were completely passive and stolid. They were sitting shirtless on the ground with their arms tied behind them. The chainsaw was fired up in front of the first man, and he calmly watched it come at him. He was killed with two strokes, but other than a brief grimace, he had no reaction.
The second victim was the nephew of the first man. He watched the chainsaw beheading with no emotion, even though his uncle fell against him. The nephew may even have been cut on the arm by the chainsaw. When it was the nephew's turn, he was killed with a knife, but other than a brief retching sound, he showed no reaction as his head was cut off. Most of the actual beheading was done out of view of the camera.
As I said, I never watched such a video before, and I won't watch another. I think this video is going to lead to even more atrocities, because the victims didn't seem to be in much pain at all. Maybe they were so desensitized by doing such things themselves or watching such videos that they didn't put any value even on their own lives. This video made beheading seem like not such a bad thing for either the victims or the perpetrators.
If you must watch a beheading video, this is the one, because there are no screams or even apparent discomfort, and the men killed were monsters themselves. It was an utterly surreal, horrifying experience to watch such a thing. I don't regret it, but once is enough.

I figure the cowards drugged them so they wouldn't fight back.

Totally agree. And I think he has work to do in New Jersey.
I also think -- and this is completely independent of my fondness for Palin -- that if she announces that she's NOT getting in, her power will go POOF. Her entire threat/appeal is based on the possibility that she'll gain access to the levers of formal power. If she says she's not interested, her threat level goes down to white and no one tunes in.

I have a different idea. If the left plans to resume beheading as a state duty, let's start with with the worthless, leftist entertainment/ infotainment millionaires who, unlike people who work in a bank, have not done anything important to earn their pay.

Zeta are tough. I suspect it would be a badge of honor to them not to show any fear. I thought Saddam Hussein died like a man, and I'm not ashamed to say it. They were taunting him, and he gave back as good as he got.
Some men, unspeakable bastards and animals though they may be, just have that kind raw courage, and probably an excess of testosterone....I'm guessing it's a contributing factor in their ability to be brutal dictators and savages.
I often think about what kind of good these kinds of men could have accomplished had they not turned to evil.

Well, I never watched a beheading video before because I didn't want to see suffering. There was no suffering in this Mexican video. It was exactly like a video game where you kill shambling zombies that don't seem to mind when you carve off big hunks of them.
The video-game quality of this footage makes it much more likely that it'll be repeated and then topped. It was so low key that the horror of what actually happened was very muted.

Your average self made millionaire had to work hard to get there. Long hours, a high level of skill, some new idea or breakthrough.

That's a possibility, too. Still, if someone started up a chainsaw right in my face and then moved it toward me, I don't think I could keep from flinching or blinking.
The other day I watched The Godfather Part II on DVD and saw something I hadn't seen before: In the scene where Robert DeNiro puts the gun in the mouth of the dead Don Fanucci and pulls the trigger, the actor--Gastone Moschine--blinks and flinches. He can't help himself.
These two Mexicans actually being killed violently and painfully showed less of a reaction than that actor. Incredible. They didn't seem drugged, either, because they were questioned before they were killed.

She becomes a kingmaker and probably gets her voice heard but it's not mandatory -- but she's no threat to the left and no mystery to the right from that point on. She might keep getting Hannity appearances, but I think most people tune in now just to hear how she weasels away from the question of whether she's running. Once that's answered, poof. IIRC, in medieval times, when royalty were executed, they were beheaded because it caused the least amount of suffering (because it was done correctly) while commoners were executed by strangulation. Remember that scene in Braveheart where William Wallace was mercifully executed by beheading after being disemboweled? With that being said, what happened to Nick Berg and other victims of Islamist terror doesn't count as a "merciful" execution because the Islamists used rusty knives to behead their victims, thus sawing through the head in order to produce pain and shock value.

Historically, torture (far worse then a mere beheading) and death awaited any warrior captured by the enemy. And anything other then fighting to the end or stoic acceptance were considered dishonorable.
Reading a little American Indian history for example, why not just fight tot he end? A smashed skull couldn't be anywhere near as bad as the fate that awaited you when you got back to the enemy camp...
I'm guessing that the notion that trained fighters turn into jelly in this sort of situation is a bit of Hollywood and a bit of the change in modern western society...

I don't know whether to hope that they have done so, or to hope that every Italian walks around taking it for granted, and assuming that he would do as well in that position, as a matter of pride.

The Taliban have told their bosses that they don't want to face U.S. Marines anymore, because the Marines "run toward the bullets."
The USMC is now teaching the Israeli Defense Forces MOUT (military operations on urban terrain). Prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom, we learned from the Israelis.
The USMC built a training camp in Israel and staffed it with Marine instructors. During Operation Cast Lead in Gaza, the Israelis lost only 13 men in combat while killing at least 700 Hamas terrorists.

Dear friend,
Recent tactile events may not give us of this age that pleasent option. May have to remove from that long locked box that what we swore would never see the light of day again for we wanted only a peaceful life after what most our age went through. Pray we not have to unlock that box...but swear we will if a time comes in this nation.

They actually do. A bunch of guys I grew up with are America hating Marxists, and they were discussing on Facebook about how they would basically be able to bum rush Tea Partiers homes because there would be no police because TPers hate police or something. I told them to come on over and try that at my house because if there was no police, then the gun laws would be very lax and I would have several 50 cals waiting for them.
They were unamused and downright offended when I told them that their "Buck Fush" tshirts are not bulletproof.

I would argue that you can expect a society to produce the type of men and women it honors. Were I in the Italian government, this is the sort of example I would try to honor - very much like Nathan Hale...
Looks like Silvio Berlusconi gave him a medal, but the Italian left doesn't think highly of Quattrocchi. Wiki says that little Isalmist Quisling Sgrena was especially critical.

138 There is no Mason Jar Company. It's a generic term, from the name of the original developer. Both Kerr and Ball "Mason" jars are products of Ball Aerospace.
You can't launch that capsule until you hear the hatch go "tink."

Yes, I know--I graduated from Ball State University, founded by the family who manufactured the Ball jars.
Ball Aerospace makes teh flying space stuff. Ball Corporation is the parent company which, BTW, doesn't even make the jars anymore. They license out the name.

I don't think you misinterpreted the vinegar face, but if it is the chase you want, then we go for a Skinemax series. "Chasing Shannon Tweed". Each episode has our hero chasing after Shannon Tweed but ending up with some Hollywood strumpet or celebrity named Shannon and bedding them. The twist, each week the hero finds out Shannon's whereabouts, but it is the wrong Shannon. One week it is Shannon Elizabeth, next Shannon Whirrey, Shannon Miller, Molly Shannon and Shannon Sharpe. It will be money!

Fuck with the best die real fast.
Best story about Fallujah: In the First Chechen War of 1994-1996, the Chechens destroyed an entire Russian armored brigade at Grozny, using three-man teams consisting of an RPG gunner, an ammunition carrier, and a heavy machine gunner. After inflicting this catastrophic defeat on the Russians, the Chechens proudly explained their tactics to everyone who would listen.
Among the people who interviewed them were intelligence officers of the USMC, who filed a report. Fast forward 10 years. In preparing for the Second Battle of Fallujah, the Marines got wind that Chechens were being imported specifically to take on the American armor that the terrorists knew would be used. The Marines looked into their files, found the report from 1995, and therefore had the Chechen game plan.
When the battle took place, the Chechens were wiped out to a man. Their tactics were utterly ineffective. The Second Battle of Fallujah was the last time the terrorists in Iraq faced U.S. troops in combat.

Yup. I read that the U.S. military now has the most cumulative combat experience of any force in human history. That's why we really don't have to worry about the Chinese. The last time the Chinese fought was in 1979, and they had their asses handed to them by the Vietnamese.
Plus, every soldier in the People's Liberation Army is an only child. There's literally no way on earth the Chinese will squander all those precious children--who are expected to carry on the family name, continue the family business, and take care of their parents--in a war.

Hmmm...must be a different game. I think what I played was actually Populous II. Mostly it was about terrain deformation. "Highest mountains" were worthless. What you needed was lots and lots of population on flat ground that you created (or flattened from those high mountains), so you could generate the energy to visit floods and fire and volcanos and rampaging angry gods on your enemies. So you spent your time building land, and leading your population to settle it, and firing off attacks as soon as your peasants generated some darned energy. Good times.
There was also a later incarnation called "Populous: The Beginning." But as far as I could tell, it sucked.

Ummm...maybe I'm misunderstanding your statement, but...no. US troops were facing terrorists in combat for quite awhile after 2nd Fallujah. I was there, and I was in combat against terrorists. Granted, they were wearing their asses for hats after every encounter, but we were still fighting them on a regular basis in late 2007 when I finished my second tour.
And on a completely unrelated note, demon wannabe guy did not kill three Hell's Angels, he is "connected" to a Hell's Angels chapter. He and his co-defendants killed three men, one of whom was supposed to testify against one of the co-defendants.

Absolutely. I stuck with Walking Dead into the 40s or 50s, but the book pretty much turned to shit after those first six phenomenal issues. It got way too talky and introspective, the plot ground to a halt as the characters holed up in that prison and then never left, and worst of all the book lost the great artwork of Tony Moore in exchange for the weird-looking crap of Charlie Adlard.
It's just as well the show isn't following the comic's storyline. I just hope it improves from the garbage that made up most of season 1.

Another complaint about the evil corporations:
They have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut workersÂ’ healthcare and pay.
The nutjobs claim they want this movement to spread abroad. I think in India and Taiwan they have a different view of outsourcing.

you see thats just fucking wrong. you never ever put yourself in that position. The Gigging for Metalheads Groupie Etiquette handbook says plain out. If you feel compelled to pull your dick out in the same room as another dude, let alone the same fucking building, the chick must go on all fours across the bed. One dude gets the ass end and grabs the ass, the other dude gets her head and grabs her hair, and if sync it right you get a 2 man saw thing happening.

Americans' incomes in August fall for first time in almost 2 years
WASHINGTON — Americans earned less in August, the first decline in nearly two years. With less income, consumers could cut back on spending and weaken an already-fragile economy.
Their lower pay explains why consumers increased spending at a slower pace in August. And most of the increase went to pay higher prices for food and gas. When adjusted for inflation, spending was flat.
Many people tapped their savings to cover the steeper costs. The savings rate fell to its lowest level since December 2009.

Officers Thad Holmes and Clem Parnell have launched Holy Smoke LLC, a company that will, for a price, load cremated human ash into shotgun shells, and rifle and pistol cartridges.
This isn't anything new. We've done it with the ashes, well, some of the ashes, anyhow, of a couple of deceased members of our Cowboy Action Shooting club. It's not like it's difficult. Almost all of us load our own ammo anyhow. It's pretty much the only way we can afford to shoot that many rounds a couple-three times a month.
I will say that when making a shotgun ro9und with ashes, rather than shot, it's best to load the shells with black powder, rather than smokeless. Smokeless powder shotshells, well the weight of the shot is super-imortant as to the pressure of the round, too much pressure you can blow up the shotgun, too little and, instead of getting a "BOOM!" you can get a" Fffft." With Black you always get the "BOOM!" and if you're even somewhat judicious with the amount of BP you won't blow up the gun.
It is kind of important to check the wind direction before you fire off the salute.
