Overnight Open Thread Thursday Edition [Ben]
— Open Blogger

Ben Franklin once wrote, "In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes and VD from French Prostitutes".

Okay, maybe I made a transcribing error.

Then again, maybe not

I think this quote needs to be extended to include : "Taxes can't die".

Let me give you two examples.

In 1861 Alabama became the fourth state to secede from the union. They contributed approximately 120,000 soldiers to the Lost Cause. In order to facilitate an easy re-entry into civillian life, the government of Alabama instituted a property tax that provided pensions to Confederate Vets and their wives. Now in 2011, some 150 years after the end of the Civil War that tax is still being levied.

The Great Johnstown Flood of 1889 was followed by many smaller floods in the early 20th century. The worst of which was the flood of 1936. In order to repay for the cleanup, Pennsylvania instituted an 18% levy on every bottle bought at state liquor stores. Some 75 years later we are still paying that tax.

Check out this website, Awkward Family Photos.

Here are a few samples.

Just a reminder for all you morons and moronettess who travel frequently. Giving a TSA Agent a titty twister will get you arrested. On the upside it isn't a felony.

Meh, I'd let her give me a titty twister

A List of the Seven Best Movie Trilogies. Many of the usual suspects, but I guess there aren't many trilogies to choose from are there? I think the Matrix and Bourne series don't belong on that list, what do you think? [hat tip CDR-M]

Imagine going to bed one night only to hear a loud boom that sounded like it came from within your bedroom. Then when you get up, you notice a huge sinkhole under your bed.

No this isn't a method of travel for creatures like in the 1989 classic Little Monsters starring Howie Mandel and Fred Savage.

Not responsible

This actually happened to Inocenta Hernandez of Guatamala

I'm not a big fan of Louis CK, but I love this rant. My favorite line:
"And then when you ran out of money you would go, 'well I canÂ’t do any more things now.' "

I caught this ad on Fox today. It's very well done.

Most people don't know that the "Don't Mess With Texas" slogan is from an 1986 anti-littering campaign by the Texas DOT.

However, based on this chart I saw in Der Speigel(which roughly translates to "The Speigel"), I think the Texas Department of Corrections should make their own slogan, "We'll Freaking Kill You".

Texas, AIDS just called and said to slow down, they are having a tough time keeping up.

Don't forget to join the AoSHQ Facebook page. Where else can you see photos of Empire of Jeff's cleft nipple?

21 I don't think the Bourne movies should be on the best trilogy list, but that's because I hate Matt Damon with his liberal drivel. And he doesn't have Don Draper's great looks to make up for the liberal stupidity. Course I'm not pretending to be objective here, I just don't like Matt Damon at all. Keenu Whatever is probably a liberal douche also, but I don't think he's as big an asshole as Matt Damon, so I'll give him a pass. Now you know why I can't make a career out of reviewing movies.

I just think the Matrix's second and third movie were so fucking bad.

The first movie was very good and it ended perfectly.  There was no need to make 2 more other than to rake in the cash so one of the Wachowski brothers could afford a sex change.

47 Hey, we're not doing too badly lighting up our bad guys in Alabama, proportionally speaking.  Then again, they might be leftovers from the Confederacy, just having languished on death row a little too long.

Fun fact:  Alabama has the longest constitution in the world, with (iirc) 874 amendments and counting (this will increase come the next election, count on it).  This is why we have stupid shit like Confederacy taxes still in effect - nobody is really sure what's in there any more.  Discovering oddities in the Alabama constitution is sort of like discovering archaeological treasures, like King Tut or the Dead Sea Scrolls.

51 On the TV show "House", they had an episode involving curing some killer from death row. The black doctor was in favor of capital punishment. When one of the other doctors brought up the fact that they execute a lot more blacks, he said something like ,"That just means they should execute more white people." Of course by the end he was rethinking his pro death penalty stance because, all those damn shows are written by liberals.

80 #52: I remember an episode along the same lines that really irked me. House was treating a rape victim who'd been impregnated in the attack. He spent the whole episode urging her to have an abortion, and she refused because she felt it was murder. At the end of the episode, without having shown any signs of internal conflict on the matter (and having stood her ground adamantly in arguments with House on the matter), she suddenly says, "Yeah, I had that abortion," like it was nothing.

82 There was a murder case in Michigan a few years ago, where a guy was going to trial for rape. A woman who was supposed to testify against him disappeared, along with her 2 year old child, and a friend of the perp, who was also on the witness list. They found the body of the woman at the bottom of a pond weighted down with chains or something. Here's the good part. The pond was in the Manistee National Forest, federal land. They convicted him in federal court and applied the death sentence, because the U.S. does allow the death sentence. He's appealing the death sentence. Personally, I'm hoping he gets a shiv in the back or raped to death or something. You can dream.

91 A perfectly round sinkhole?   Horsefeathers!  It's a sandwormhole.

That's one of the things about sink holes that amazes me. Whether 2' across or 50', they seem to be perfectly round.

Here in Florida the bottom drops out, and then the sides just keep caving so they aren't quite as perfect. After seeing that massive hole in Guatemala, a short distance from the one under the lady's bed, I'd worry about the whole damn town dropping out of site.

Here is what I got emailed earliler, been working on it, trying to get some reliable confirmation

The Dems will get their debt limit raised and some revenue enhancements, via a few tax loopholes closed and no bracket increases yet, plus a bonus. The COLA calculation will be recalibrated to show reduced inflation. The debt limit extension will not be the great big deal, but a medium big deal, worth about 8-10 months, taking us to next April-May of 2012. Plus a few tidbits here and there.

In return, the Repubs get some cuts across the budget of about 3 trillion in future spending reductions, about 500 billion in real cuts next budget year. There will be cuts in Medicare starting 2013 via means testing for the “rich”, with a significant upper limit for eligibility.  Medicare eligibility will be matched to SS eligibility ages.  SS cuts will not be part of it now, but watch for an impact study of increasing eligibility ages.  It will be hands off ObamaCare. That Dem bonus I mentioned earlier? The Repubs will agree not to oppose a limited and bipartisan created medical review (“rationing”) board for Medicare benefits, initially to provide non-binding recommendations only.

Yup, Obama will agree to cuts in Medicare. Significant ones.

Only Nixon could go to China.

Only Obama could cut Medicare.

Heather,
Check the unit outside and see if there's sign that it has frozen.  There's a pipe leading from the big loud box to the house and it can frost up.  If so, turn it off for a couple of hours and try again, but set the temperature closer to the ambient temp.  Move it a few degrees at a time and keep checking for freezing.
Half the a/cs in our area froze up a couple of days ago.
Also, if you can access them, check the filters.

Posted by: Y-not at July 21, 2011 06:29 PM (5H6zj)

123 Shit. Posted by: HeatherRadish at July 21, 2011 10:24 PM (0vDuM) Is it humid? Do you have access to the cooling unit (usually behind a panel in a hallway, looks like a radiator)? Sometimes they freeze up, literally cover with ice. It's behind the replaceable filter. You have to turn the system off and, ironically, heat it uop to melt the ice, clean the water out, and then turn it back on. You may need a dehumidifier if your place is humid.

Worst heat and humidity I felt was Labor Day weekend 2007 in LA.  Once in a while a high sits and heats up, then draws humidity from the Gulf of California.  It was in the high 90s in the middle of the night that weekend. Rum must have cooked in the Valley

I still remember the episode of Hill Street Blues where there was a long blackout in NYC during a stifling heat wave. One of the detectives was talking to his mom on the phone and worried about her situation when the perp handcuffed at  his desk asks "Does she have running water" Reluctantly, the detective asks his mom. The perp says she should draw a cool tub and sit in it.

It made so much sense I never forgot it.

During the rolling blackouts in Detroit, I hope they are advising the residents the same.

158 #30 You're right Ben. Trilogies work when the sequals add something to the storyline. Too often all they do, is pick out the jokes or quirks that were good, and creative in the first movie, and repeat them. My sister dragged me to the last "Pirates of the Carib", and I thought I would barf at Depp doing the gay pirate again. And I'm actually embarrassed for DeNiro with the later Focher messes. My developmentally disabled older brother was colicky as a baby, and the summer of 1957 in St. Louis was armpit hot. My folks didn't have air conditioning. Mom said to comfort the baby they hung wet towels around the crib and blew a fan on them.

I imagine the few truly desperately poor folks having to suffer through this will do likewise.

A woman in her 50s died here in St. Louis of the heat about 10 days ago. The inside of her house was more than 100 degrees. She had a functional air conditioner but didn't use it.

Perhaps coincidentally, prehaps not, last fall the charges for water and trash went up dramatically. Homeowners now have to pay over $520 a year for water and trash. I would have to think an increase like that (the rate doubled, I believe) would hurt people with marginal incomes.

But hey, at least we have shiny new blue recycling dumpsters in the alleys...

I tried growing tomatoes a couple of years and never had much luck so gave up on that endeavor.  I remember bumper tomato crops from my childhood in the midwest and I think even "hot" years here are marginal for good crops. 184 142 77 Here in Sarasota it's almost always between 90 and 95 every day, rarely above or below. A lot more humidity than CA, but not as much as NJ or on the east coast of FL

Worst heat and humidity I felt was Labor Day weekend 2007 in LA.  Once in a while a high sits and heats up, then draws humidity from the Gulf of California.  It was in the high 90s in the middle of the night that weekend. Rum must have cooked in the Valley

It's been routinely been 94-100 (sometimes higher) during the day here, except when it rains. Actually have had some pop-up thunderstorms as-of-late, which has been wonderful. People have stopped wishing for a mini-hurricane.

185 Ah, looks like you're right, Jones. I found this... "We hear of the conversion of water into wine at the marriage in Cana as of a miracle. But this conversion is, through the goodness of God, made every day before our eyes. Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards; there it enters the roots of the vines, to be changed into wine; a constant proof that God loves us, and loves to see us happy. The miracle in question was only performed to hasten the operation, under circumstances of present necessity, which required it."

186 Perhaps coincidentally, prehaps not, last fall the charges for water and trash went up dramatically. Homeowners now have to pay over $520 a year for water and trash.

We averaged about $400/month in SoCal on a 0.22 acre lot that we'd partially xeriscaped and laundry for just two people.  My husband's colleague, who had a mid-sized family (3 kids iirc) and a much grander lot paid something like $1600/mo.

141, I'm right there with you.  I can't stand anything over 70.

And Heather R, keep their ears cool any way you can.  The blood flowing there is right at the surface and if you keep cooling that off, they should be OK.  Poor little kitties.  Mine did OK last year when it got up to the 90s one week, but they just sprawled out and pretty much didn't move.  Then again, they're not elderly.

Try putting a damp towel in the freezer and once it's frozen, maybe put it inside another towel and see if they will tolerate having that in contact with their bodies.  If they're like most kitties, they're paranoid about spray bottles but if you could mist them with cold water, that might help too.

194 My old a/c unit used to freeze up all the time, finally figured out that the old wiring/fuses in the house weren't supplying the juice necessary for it so the fan wasn't blowing enough air over the coils causing them to freeze up.

195 Here's another good Franklin quote from that same page (a Snopes forum thread)... "To confirm still more your piety and gratitude to Divine Providence, reflect upon the situation which it has given to the elbow. You see (Figures 1 and 2) in animals, who are intended to drink the waters that flow upon the earth, that if they have long legs, they have also a long neck, so that they can get at their drink without kneeling down. But man, who was destined to drink wine, must be able to raise the glass to his mouth. If the elbow had been placed nearer the hand (as in Figure 3), the part in advance would have been too short to bring the glass up to the mouth; and if it had been placed nearer the shoulder, (as in Figure 4) that part would have been so long that it would have carried the wine far beyond the mouth. But by the actual situation, (represented in Figure 5), we are enabled to drink at our ease, the glass going exactly to the mouth. Let us, then, with glass in hand, adore this benevolent wisdom; -- let us adore and drink!"

@188 Oh, I agree it's cheaper than in a lot of places, but it was a huge increase at the time in St. Louis (to be fair, the people of this fine democrat-controlled city did vote for it--it's not like it was a surprise). Missouri has a LOT of water (springs and rivers) and St. Louis has the two biggest rivers in the country to draw from, so you kind of assume it'd be cheap. And, the theory is that the people of St. Louis are poor--I don't think that necessarily holds true, some of the inner suburbs are actually worse hellholes than north St. Louis, but there you go.

I was getting my water turned on in my new house last October, and I was seriously worried, standing in line at the water department. People were PISSED about a bill that had previously ran about $30 a quarter running up to $120. Guess they didn't think that fee they voted for was going to apply to THEM. I was glad to get out of there before things turned uglier.

An extra $50 a month for a person on a fixed income can be HUGE. The sad part of a death such as the one you described is that SOMEONE, a neighbor, family, SOMEONE should have been looking in on her.

There was a story a couple of years ago about a lady who died in her bed and the house was sold before anyone even realized she was missing.

OK morons, for those who want to create a t-shirt with a fake alternative hipster band name that is so cool "you haven't heard them yet", suggest some kind of hipster-alternative name

It really sticks too.

Funny but my sister and i were discussing this name, and its suitability for  an alternative hipster band just last night.

302 Wait, can I like the Ace of Spades Facebook group? Or is it just join not-join. I'm such a moron I haven't quite figured out this shit.

I periodically like right-wing crap on Facebook just to out myself as a right-winger to friends and family, but then I start getting all these stupid updates from AEI or whatever right-wing group or person I "liked". I don't want that main page (the wall, right? stupid name) filled up political crap. That main page I mainly want to see friends and family post cute pics of the kids or dogs and bitch about the heat. It's basically a simple way for me to keep up with who's pregnant, who's dying, who's getting married, who just gave birth, and the like. Basic life functions.

So I "like" some right wing thing on Facebook and then have to immediately hide all the future posts I get from said thing so it doesn't block out posts about cute babies and/or prayers for the dying.

I'm starting to think I'm doing this stupid Facebook thing wrong.

I have a large extended family with lots of people coming and going out of the world each year. The main page already gets filled up with all my younger female cousins random musings they feel compelled to share with everyone. Which, even though I bitch about, actually is kinda nice and life affirming. Plus they occasionally post pics of their hot friends.

I want to break up with my friend because we have almost nothing in common anymore. She is a liberal, has very odd ideas about money (for example, she is probably going to file for bankruptcy so she's running up large bills on her credit cards since it "won't matter" anyway), and she has made some really weird relationship decisions with guys.

I don't want to meet her new boyfriend, she had this vision that the two of them would be spending the summer hanging out in my swimming pool, which seemed rather presumptuous. When I told her I didn't want the guy at my house until I'd met him somewhere else first she was offended.

343 My dear friend of over 30 years is now disabled. We have a long distance phone friendship now.  And he has been really angry with me for turning into a righty.

When I made a joke about Ted Kennedy, he snarled at me:  don't go there!  And whenever I've said anything about the crummy state of education he's snapped: Fox news! Fox news!  I haven't had cable for years, and he knows that.  But anything I might say that crosses him, he starts yelling about Fox News!  I kinda wonder, brain damage?   But what do you do?

Do you give up decades of good friendship or is it up to me to dance around the political?  It makes me think that I have to treat him as "special."

344 PGiS,
She wants the "friendship" on her terms.
Change the dynamic.
Invite her and new b.f. to see Undefeated or something like that.  If she is willing to move out of her convenience zone to make you happy, you might be able to save it.
If not, she has demonstrated that she's not your friend.  And kind of demonstrated it to herself, too.

I've found that this tends to make them keep their distance: Explain that there's no real distinction between liberalism and communism. That means that liberals subscribe to the most muderous political ideology of all time, making them accessories after-the-fact (in the sense of trying to sweep the evidence under the rug) to the murder of over 100 million people. In other words, they have blood on their hands as surely as if they had done the deed themselves.

351 There are benefits to coming from a big Catholic family. The constant stream of babies is #1. There constantly being a group of young cousins full of life being another. I think Heinlein had a good quote about that ... ah here it is.

"All societies are based on rules to protect pregnant women and young children. All else is surplusage, excrescence, adornment, luxury, or folly, which can — and must — be dumped in emergency to preserve this prime function. "

The flipside, of course, is that somebody is also always gravely ill and/or dying.

I don't live near the main clan these days. So I see most of this through Facebook.

Random thought about communism I had today. No book has been assigned to me in school more often than The Communist Manifesto. I went to two different high schools, and was assigned it in history classes in both of them, then I was a history major in college and took three different classes in which it was assigned. Now, the teachers assigning it never say they're communists or anything like that, they just say they're assigning it for historical reasons, because of its influence. Okay, fine, I'm willing to believe that. But wait - I have never, ever, in any of those classes, been assigned Hitler's Mein Kampf. Now, believe me, I don't want to read it, but if we're just going by important books written by important historical figures, it's up there. But the teachers would never assign it because they think it's twisted and evil - well yeah, but so is the Communist Manifesto, no? And of course I've never been assigned the Bible, though goodness knows that's a pretty important historical book - I guess they don't want to get religious issues involved, it is the opiate of the masses after all, fine. But what about capitalism? Isn't that an important theory? Never been assigned anything bySmith or Hayek or Friedman or anyone like that. Indeed, we learned about the other ideologies either secondhand or not at all, the only time we were given the real deal was with the Communist Manifesto, over and over again. That can't be an accident.

I think it became that way but it wasn't always that way. It was much better the first four seasons when it was more realistic and balanced. The move of focus from plot to character was far from helpful, too. I realize it's a character-driven show, but you can't have the personal overwhelm the plot. They need to go hand-in-hand, IMO.

Dude, I think you mean

Rio Grande ( a lot of singing, with Maureen O'Hara, too)

Fort Apache (Henry Fonda, before he knew what GAF meant)

She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (most sentimental of the three, with John Wayne as an aging and about to retire Captain of the cavalry)

John Ford's famous Cavalry Trilogy (starring John Wayne in all three, with Ben Johnson as a supporting actor in all three, as "Tyree"). But yes, this is a great trilogy of movies about the cavalry, the West and the way things used to be.

397 I've been on  both sides of the ruptured friendship over politics. In one (friend A) I cut a decade-long friendship off after he said my Vietnam vet father was no different from Bill Ayers. We had had many tough political arguments over the years, but that was the straw for me. My father had treated friend A well, had housed and fed him at times during college and the immediate years after when he was broke and occasionally crashed on my or my Dad's couch. But he'd become super left-wing in recent years. Anyway, he refused to retract and apologize for the Ayers thing... that was that.

The other (friend B) was a mutual friend of the two of us, who chose sides. He had also become quite left-wing since college, but he and I had never had cross words, but he all of sudden stopped returning calls or emails. We were all college friends and only talked every few weeks anyways, with work and families and stuff, so it took me a while to realize I had been ex-communicated.

I have to admit it hurt. And not being told why and just becoming a non-person. It sucks.

I value friendship and loyalty. And with my friend A I had forgiven a lot over the years. I'm willing to forgive mistreatment of me. I'm willing to overlook a lot. But you can't mistreat and disrespect the people I love. You can have a bad day, or bad month, or bad year and treat me like crap and I'll probably forgive you. I'll be angry, but I'll get over in a few days. Life is too short to hold a grudge. I'm very thick-skinned about myself, but I guess a bit thin-skinned about my family.

Yeah, see that's what I thought too. Especially since I have a kid. I tend to be extra cautious as to who I have over to my house. I've come this far in life not being material for a Lifetime Television for Women cautionary tale, I'd like to keep it that way.

Do those even work?   If you're feeling fatigued, you might just want to go with iron supplements or eat more red meat.

May I ask, is there a particular reason why you want testosterone supplements?  I wouldn't even go there unless I was ordered to by a doc.

419 On the other hand, I have a friend in LA whom I worked with 11 years ago and he leans way to port. He knows my politics and while never agreeing with me, he's never been disagreeable and never hurls insults. He was a great help to me on the job and in fact probably saved my job. We also have many interests in common so everything doesn't devolve into political battle.

He's still a good friend on Facebook, and it's not his political posts that annoy me (he presents his points very thoughtfully) but his posts about what wine he just had or what fancy restaurant he's visiting. Great guy though

One laugh I get with him is that he's a firm Microsoft man, calls the Apple cultists "Macolytes". Asked him if he gets strange and suspicious stares in the coffee shops when he brings out his Windows laptop and he said "I always get strange stares, but not because of my laptop"

I'm probably biased because I'm a Richard Armitage fan, but I really liked the character (Lucas North) and thought he added something to the show. Though they had to bring the water-boarding controversy into it, which made it hard to watch.

Nah, probably not.  If you want to feel better "naturally", try some iron supplements as you may be anemic (have you ever donated blood?  They test your iron and they'll tell you if the concentration is high enough).

Moderate exercise also works for getting the "natural" happy-pills, the endorphins, flowing.

Exactly.  I'd have done the same thing unless I had complete confidence in my "friend's" judgement, or if the boyfriend was new as I think you mentioned.  By virtue of being a lib, her judgement (especialy about people) is automatically in question.

Maybe her taking offense is good if you want to dump her anyway.  Maybe you could offen her some more and get her to dump you.  Otherwise I'd probably try the fade-out to end the friendship rather than a direct confrontation.  It's not worth the hassle to be more direct for someone you don't care about especially if she might have a spiteful side.

441 When debating politics with left-wing friends and family I try hard to keep it de-personalized and in the realm of ideas and, I think policy X would be better than policy Y for reason Z.  Don't mind being told I'm wrong. Will get annoyed, but will get over it, if told I'm stupid. React very poorly to being told I'm evil.

The racist, sexist, homophobic charges give lefties a plausibly deniable "you're evil" card. I consider being called a racist for supporting welfare reform, or opposing affirmative action, the equivalent of being called flat-out evil. But lefties will deny that. I don't think you're evil, just racist.

It's a common way, in my experience, that lefties bend the rules of polite argumentation. Everybody knows that once you call the other guy evil the conversation is over. But racist, sexist, homophobic, etc kind of get around that commonly accepted ground rule.

470 Most people don't know that the "Don't Mess With Texas" slogan is from an 1986 anti-littering campaign by the Texas DOT.

Really?  What do they think it is, then -- just a bad-ass Texan warning that a can of whoopass is opening?  If that's what people think, then that's even more awesomer.  Best ad slogan ever.

I remember when those ads first came out when I was a kid.  One of the first ones had Mike Scott of the Astros (who was the best pitcher in baseball for like 5 minutes, a no-hitter threat every time out) throwing a fastball at a trash barrel, 'sploding it. Not sure why that meant not to litter.  Seems like giant cascades of flame are much worse to have around than McDonald's wrappers.

517 The Bourne books were written from the perspective that our operatives are the good guys. Jason Bourne was created to eliminate the assassin Carlos the Jackal. They did this by building up a mythology about Bourne as top assassin by having him falsely take credit for mysterious high profile deaths. He was not actually an assassin of innocents, but a virtuous soldier.

In the movies, they turned the people who backed and created him into evil thugs who killed indiscriminately for petty political gains. Rather than Bourne as a virtuous soldier, the movies turned him into a victim of the powerful, evil people who serve in our intelligence agencies.

It is no surprise that Damon was all too happy to join in a project that perverted the original pro American story into an anti American one.

I live in Shanghai and am just getting over an incapacitating summer cold blech.  The problem here is that the vaunted healthcare system hooks you up to an antibiotic drip before you even talk to a doctor.  Thus every strain of whatever crap flies around is super-powerful.  If the Chinese wanted to take over the US militarily they'd just have to invade and cough on everyone.

I used to think Jonah Goldberg's characterization of liberalism as fascism was unfair, but the more I see of the left, the more convinced I am that if it were in their power, they would stifle all dissent. It reminds me of a cliche I heard once that strikes me as having more than a kernel of truth: "Conservatives think liberals have bad ideas. Liberals think conservatives are bad PEOPLE."

My boss called me a couple of hours later wondering where I was, and I told him I'd called in. After I hung up, I looked at my phone and saw I hadn't made the earlier call. I count myself lucky that's the weirdest thing I've done, and I've weaned myself down from one a night to two a week, so there's that.

562 So, I was over visiting Wretchard at the Belmont Club, and a commenter said:

Caligula made his horse, the mighty Incitatus, Consul of Rome according to Suetonius. Others say he merely made Incitatus a priest. But he did do something shocking with Incitatus. Caligula lived to “stick it to the man”. He was history’s first modern leftist, as far as I know.

His given name was Gaius Julius Caesar Germanicus. Caligula was a nickname meaning “little boot”. He acquired it as a boy from the military out on the frontier where he grew up. He was an outsider to Roman society growing up and grew to hate Roman society proper. As emperor he utilized his power to stick it to the Roman ruling class. For instance, Rome was gripped with a fiscal crisis and his solution was to force Senators to lend their wives to a state-run brothel, invite the whole of Rome, and pimp the proceeds. The purpose of this action was not to balance the books, how could it?, but merely to smear the elites’ faces in dung.

Gaius Caligula was very much the intentionally subversive emperor who was out to sabotage and up-end his own empire.

567 Wow, who knew the Okies were so chair happy?

Good evening, Morons!

Got back from Cap'n America.

Captain America is a movie based on the Marvel Comics comic book of the same name.  It stars Chris Evans as Captain America and Hayley Atwell's delicious breasts.

So the question on everyone's minds, is it awesome?

Ladies and gentleman, yes, Hayley Atwell's breasts are fucking *awesome*.

And the movie was damn good, too.

Go see it.  Twice.

But did you see it in 3D, you ask.  Yes, I got suckered into seeing it in the threeeee deeeee.  Aaaannnndddd...well, the 3D is better on Cap than on Thor, I'll tell you that.  But again, by and large, it adds fuck all to the proceedings.  Oh, there's some cool shit.  When Cap and Bucky cross over a platform as explosions happen underneath them.  As Cap and the Howling Commandos take a zipline to catch a train in order to destroy it.  As Cap caresses Atwell's sweet, delicious melons while sucking on her pert, pink nip...oh, wait, that didn't happen.  But it should have!

Chris Evans totally sells himself as Cap.

Hugo Weaving is the Red fucking Skull.

Tommy Lee Jones is pretty cool, too.

Did I mention Hayley Atwell and her pert jugs?

See it, my Morons.  See it...today!

And stay through the credits for the Avengers preview.  Cool stuff.
