Overnight Open Thread Wednesday Edition [Ben]
— Open Blogger

I couldnÂ’t pick a theme for tonightÂ’s OOT, so I settled on a smorgasbord format. IÂ’ve got a little bit of fun for everyone.

Do you remember reading about that angelic underage Neo-Nazi band Prussian Blue? HereÂ’s a visual reminder.

Not to be confused with the Olsen twins.

Well it turns out they are no longer Neo-NaziÂ’s. TheyÂ’ve converted to liberalism. It must have been a tough transition.

But their mother, April, is holding out hope that ths liberalism thing is just a phase:

But April, who is working to create an “intentional” white community in their area, called Pioneer Little Europe, also suspects her daughters’ liberal turn may be a passing phase. “They’re 19,” she said. “I think when they have children of their own, they’ll come to the same conclusions I have.”

Yeah, that makes total sense.

Speaking of Nazis, I've found a rare photo of the Mark XI prototype tank made by Herr Krupp.

Why the Allies really won WW II

The real reason people are still hunting Sasquatch

A study found that fewer than 1 in 3 students are proficient in geography. "No Timmy, Stankonia isn't one of the three Baltic countries."

How good are you at geography? Test yourself here.

On that note, here's a website of Funny Test Answers

A few samples:

Ace has been making with the Norm MacDonald jokes as of late, so I thought I'd post a few of Norm's funnier moments.

The infamous Conan appearance. I remember watching this on TV and I almost died laughing.
A bit from SNL

The first and last time Norm MacDonald was asked to host the ESPY's.

I found the whole Contessa Brewer/ Mo Brooks interview on Mediaite. For your viewing pleasue:

Think you can balance the budget? Here's an interactive flash game that will let you do just that. [note: it asks for your information, but it's not required to play]

I know some of the game's premises are flawed. Repealing Obamacare would not cost money as the game suggests. However, the game gives you a good idea of how deep in the hole we are and how hard it will be to get out of it. In order to balance the budget you have to slaughter quite a few sacred cows.

This just in as I was puting the finishing touches on the tonight's OOT. A Wall Street Prostitution ring has been busted. Please god, let Elliot Spitzer's name be on that list.

Don't forget to join the AoSHQ Facebook page. You'll get to see what other morons look like in real life. Had I not joined, I never would have known Peaches has an eye patch.

Tonight's OOT brought to you by bailouts:

39 24 Hey, what have I missed? Well, you missed my wondeful retelling of the ancient Greek Myth of Pandora's Clit. Legend has it that any man that licked it was instantly turned to stone. Prometheus, the hero of the tale, borrowed Athena's cloak of invisibility to use as a face shield. Guided by her vaguely perverse owl, snuck upon Pandora as she lay sleeping with her legs splayed as though making an offering. Prometheus carefully crawled between hardened men (so to speak) turned into stone, their tongues still sticking out. Throwing the cloak over her holy of holies, our cunning linguist went to work. Pandora hardly knew what was coming over her, until it came multiple times! Thus was the curse of Pandora's Clit lifted! Of course, later Athena was royally pissed at the stinky wet spot Prometheus left in her cloak, and as retribution made him eternally horny. Hence the legend of the Minotaur! But I'm all through with Greek mythology tonight... unless you morons beg me for more...

53 24 Hey, what have I missed? Any new and exciting AoSHQ scandals, take downs, etc. in the last week?

Since it's slow tonight and I'm too lazy to type up anything new I'll repost my brilliant, groundbreaking, soon-to-be-a-major-motion-picture Gilligan's Island concept from last night.

==========

I have a dream.... a dream of a completely serious, dramatic Gilligan's Island movie.

Professor Roy Hinkley, recently fired from his gig at the science lab for unethical conduct.  Mr. and Mrs. Thurston Howell III, sad refuse from the 2008 financial crash and former GM bondholders.  "Ginger" and "Mary Ann", two junkie lesbian porn stars on the run from their unpaid dealer.  Jonas "Skipper" Grumby, the down-on-his-luck captain of the S.S. Minnow, a shitpile yacht; he offers "three-hour tours" to people looking to disappear, no questions asked.  And First Mate Gilligan, the Skipper's retarded half-brother who was put to work on the boat after the hospital threw him out.

This particular excursion of the Minnow proves to be its last, as the ship runs aground on a small, deserted island four miles off Catalina that no one ever bothered to chart.  The castaways scavenge what they can from the Howells' trunks of clothes and throw together rickety makeshift shelters.  Skipper and Gilligan construct a raft that promptly sinks, and the two barely make it back to shore.  Gilligan's foot is torn off in a shark attack on the way, and he is thenceforth unable to work.  The thin familial bond between the two becomes further and further strained over time, as the Skipper increasingly resents his now-useless first mate and becomes abusive, spitting his old pet nickname of "Little Buddy" at Gilligan every time he punches him in the head.  Poor Gilligan, with an IQ of 38, lacks the capacity to understand what has happened to them all and spends his days huddled in a corner of the hut weeping.

Things are little better with the Howells.  They are too old and infirm to work.  Mrs. Howell is wasting away from an undiagnosed disease, and nights on the island echo with her cries of extreme pain.  Mr. Howell, numb with shock after everything he and his wife have gone through over the last few years, spends his days wandering the shoreline with an old golf club, looking for fish to beat into submission for their meager meals.  He, the Skipper, and the Professor get into frequent, often violent arguments over the division of labor among the castaways, with "that useless old woman" and "that fucking retard cripple" regularly used as objects of contention.

Only the calculating Professor seems to be making out somewhat decently.  With a few native leaves, some lab equipment he'd brought with him aboard the Minnow and his own unprincipled genius, he's able to synthesize a form of heroin to which he quickly addicts Ginger and Mary Ann.  The two girls accept their new status as drug slaves to their master; they retrieve food for and perform unlimited sexual favors upon the Professor in exchange for a constant supply of the heroin.

Mrs. Howell dies of leukemia three months into their ordeal, aggravated by extreme malnutrition.  Mr. Howell, stripped of everything he ever owned and despondent over his beloved "Lovey", puts on the tattered admiral's hat that is his last remaining possession following the looting of their trunks and walks off silently into the sea.  Two months after that, Ginger and Mary Ann, jealous over the Professor, turn on one another in fits of drug-addled jealousy and gouge out each others' eyes.  Blinded and unable to perform their fishing and gathering duties, they have their teeth pulled out by the Professor, in his attempt to keep them from his stockpile of food and not chew his dick off during blowjobs during their remaining days of life.

After the girls have died and his supply of food begins to run out, the desperate Professor raids the Skipper and Gilligan's shelter to take whatever they have left.  The Skipper, wasted down to almost nothing, is able to put up only meager resistance to the Professor's attack -- until he spies Mr. Howell's golf club sticking up out of the sand.  Skipper uses his last ounce of strength to bury the club in the Professor's head before collapsing himself.  "I'm sorry.... Little Buddy...." he breathes to his former first mate before expiring.

Gilligan, alone, crying, and never having understood any of what befell the crew of the Minnow, survives upon the corpses of the two men until there is nothing left.  He lives for three weeks, never leaving that corner of the crumbling hut.

In an epilogue set ten years later, a rescue party arrives on the island to find only the Minnow's rusted hulk, the ruins of old shelters, a few test tubes, an unrecognizable golf club, and a sandscape of bleached skeletons.

Well, I'm not huge but not small either.  I think he thought I would modestly cover my boobs with the gown and then show him, but I didn't even think about it.  I just took the whole think off in one swift movement and pointed to the mole.  I mean it would have looked stupid and probably clumsy to try and be modest.  Hell, when you have had three kids modesty went out the window a long time ago.

203 jewells45, that's hilarious. i'm in med school now and can attest that when we are trained to do physicals, just as much time is spent on drilling us in appropriate gown placement at every single step as is spent on the actual important medical stuff. we're taught to have as much of the body covered at each step as humanly possible, there's all sorts of techniques to go through to drape patients a certain way, they make a really big deal out of it, so i can imagine if it was a young doctor, after having years of training like that and being taught that women are incredibly sensitive about being covered as much as possible, that to have a woman just rip her gown off in front of him was quite the shock.

No, you're missing an essential piece of the story, and I like to think you'll feel bad for just a moment when you hear the whole story. She's reaching out to a dude who invited Betty White. Betty White couldn't make it. So she's offering herself in Betty White's place. I think that takes the age thing off the table.

OK, fess up Lacey!  We know this was you, who was the other Indiana moron?

JULY 20--An Indiana couple is facing public indecency charges after they allegedly had sex for 30 minutes Sunday afternoon in a community pool while dozens of witnesses, including children, watched the illicit aquatic action.

Pool manager Cindy Schwab told cops that she walked up behind Helms and Cross “when she realized what they were doing,” according to a Connersville Police Department report. After telling the pair to stop, Schwab said that Cross moved away from Helms, which was when “she could see the male’s penis.”

The police report states that one concerned adult stood near the trysting couple “to make sure her children didnÂ’t get too close to the subjects.” Additionally, cops noted, “All the witnesses were visibly disturbed by the incident.” While it is unclear what drove the couple to allegedly engage in public fornication, the heat wave gripping the countryÂ’s mid-section has forced many sweltering Americans to seek a cool, watery respite.

Helms, who works as a reserve officer with the neighboring Laurel City Police Department, has been suspended without pay due to the Connersville incident.

In light of the Helms-Cross coupling, municipal workers added additional chemicals to the pool and recycled its water.

Most likely you're thinking of David Allan Coe. The linked song is one of the mainstream hits; the raunchy / objectionable (to me, even though I'm a fan of his "normal") stuff is up to the horde to find themselves.

Later, when the case was over, we were cleaning up stuff.  She had already left the area, and we found the specimen that she was suppose to take to the pathology fridge.  I went ahead and took it down.  When I saw her 15 minutes later, I very sweetly said "I took the specimen down that you left in the room."  Heh!  Kill 'em with kindness, my mom use to always say!

Garth had some really good songs:  "Two Pina Coladas", "How You Ever Gonna Know", "The River", "To Make You Feel My Love" and some  of his duets with Trisha Yearwood.

My husband had a man-crush on him too.  Garth is why he started listening to country music (I use to call him an "orange neck" as I was listening to NPR!--ha!)  And now I'm a proud orange neck too!

They're one of those "it fits or it doesn't" kind of things.  You ever noticed that there's only two tribes re: Grok - lovers and haters?  The folks I know who love them adapted to the grip and trigger, and won't go back.  The haters either never tried, or just didn't like it, but like to shit-talk anonymously.  I, personally, love the engineering and vision, but the ergos don't work for me.

Okay, so the movie picks up exactly at the point the last one left off, with Voldewhathisname getting the Elder whatchamacallit.  Then we go back to Harry somethinerother at the cottage of his ugly friend's brother and his wife after burying Stubby the  mangy poodle.  So they get this idea to break into the goblin bank by transforming Emma Watson and the ugly redheaded dude into Helena Bonham Carter and some random asshole to steal a whore's crutch.  Yada yada yada, this is when I realize that the Goblins were all supposed to be Jews and become saddened by the film's apparent anti-semitism.  But, hey, apparently Jew hating is the new black.  Or maybe I'm reading too much into things.  Anyway, they get halfway before their spells are broken down and I spend the next 20 minutes halfway paying attention to what's going on and mostly gawking at Emma Watson's very lovely cleavage.  My goodness, that girl grew into one FINE looking woman!  I was hit with this massive urge to lick her up and down before filling her love tunnel with my thick, rock hard...um...*cough*...anyway, she is *most* delicious.

Then from there things happen at a fairly quick pace.  The kids get back to Genital Warts, Snape takes off and the battle begins in short order.  One thing I noticed was that the battle begins fairly large scale but ends...much less so.  Things that were written with such intensity in the book are seemingly glossed over as an afterhthought in the movie.  Like the scene where Licks My Bell End LeStrange dies.  In the book, it was an intense battle where she's dueling like three witches before Ma Fatty jumps in and murders the shit out of her.  In the movie, it's like, "Okay, we gotta hurry this shit up to meet ou deadline."  When Neville Tall Water heroically slays the snake, Penis Envy?  In the movie, he's totally punked.  Oh, he still kills the snake, but not before getting his ass handed to him.  And then the Elder Ribbed Pencil Dick?  Harry just breaks that shit in half and tosses it over a bridge.  WHA?!?!?!?!  And there's so many other changes that don't make much sense.  Oh, I'm not saying they need to be mindlessly faithful, but some of the changes made don't even preserve the spirit of things.  It was strange.

But I also think that maybe they're looking to do an extended cut on DVD.  This movie, before credits, was 117 minutes (*BEFORE* credits).  Every other Harry Pooter movie has been well over two hours.  Usually ranging from 2:15 to 2:30.  This makes Harry Pooter and the Stanky Hookers the shortest film of hte series.  So why do I think they're going to do an extended cut on DVD?  The ommissions.  Much is omitted.  Like...the evil scandi!  He's brought up in 7.1, ignored in 7.2.  But, wait, he's kind of important to the story of the Elder Ribbed Pencil Dick.  And Dumpywhore.  His backstory was left out etirely.  No talk about his evil youth, his raped and dead sister or his reformation.  All left out.  Either David Yates fucked up royally or there's still more to come.  We shall see.

So overall...three and a half out of five stars?

Huh?

Yes, I complained, but the movie is actually pretty damn enjoyable.  It's not high art, it's a fun adventure story and the adventure wraps up pretty well.  Certainly there are things I would have liked to have seen, but I've been saying that since part three.  There's action, there's tragedy, there's great big FX...did I mention Emma Watson's delicious young body?  Mmmmmmmm!!!!!

So yes, go see it.  Have fun.  Enjoy yourself.  Get a giant bucket of popcorn and the biggest Coke money can buy.  Have fun!

Happy Birthday, Gushka! Many happy returns!

As for the S&W... when I got my first handgun, everyone was telling me to get the Lady Smith. Hammerless revolver. I was interested. Fortunately, my local shooting range has a wall of guns. For the price of a box of ammo, you can shoot anything on the wall. I tried it and hated it. The trigger pull was clunky and heavy. I found a Walther PPK-S. It was a .380 but with the proper ammo (blue glazers), it had adequate stopping power. Loved that gun. Unfortunately, the only time I thought I needed it, it jammed.

When you go to the range frequently, the regulars let you shoot their guns. I shot a Desert Eagle and realized that if I had one, I could probably become a nun. Unfortunately, the rounds cost over a buck a piece.

I shot a Sig .45. Loved it. Also, unfortunately, I'd gone to the range on a lunch break and was wearing heels. The shot scooted me back about an inch and I realized it was more gun than I needed. I ended up buying the 9mm. Best gun ever.

About two years ago, I realized that I needed to get a gun that wasn't tracked. A friend had a 9mm S&W he was looking to sell. It had never been shot. I bought it without shooting it. When I shot it, I hated it. Same problems as with the Lady Smith. Sold it soon after.

I do so much love gun talk....

421 I once heard from a total stranger for no reason that a .22 pistol with snake shot in it was the perfect gun to hunt sidewinders in your 4x4 headlights in the desert in Arizona while drinking beer.

422 Oh, rum, Mr. rn swam in Lake Union once for a triathalon (his only time he completed an entire one--just a sprint distance, I think).  I thought he was going to drown in Lake Union.  It was June and it was freezing cold, and he didn't have a wetsuit (a lot of people didn't because it was 1989, and triathalons were not that popular).  We were newly married, and I thought he was going to die on the first event!  It was totally disgusting (all this diesel in the water).

429 Posted by: StPatrick_TN at July 21, 2011 01:07 AM (D+phB) They aren't pretty, but they're damned good guns. Although, mine had problems when I first bought it, which is probably why I got it cheap. Turns out the extractor was screwy, the hook hadn't been shaped/polished at all, and there was WAY too much tension. It'd gouge out frickin' canyons in the brass, when it bothered to feed at all. About 30 minutes of work and it's been sweet ever since.

Posted by: Ima Wurdibitsch at July 21, 2011 01:16 AM (otfJ1)

The Glock has a slightly different grip angle, so if you don't use one regularly your muscle memory isn't tuned for it. It's not a lot different, but it is just enough.  The Sig is a nice piece, nothing at all wrong with them.

437 Posted by: Ima Wurdibitsch at July 21, 2011 01:16 AM (otfJ1) I had a first gen Glock 17 back in the 80s, when it was the hottest thing since the subway blew up Marilyn's dress. HATED the grip angle & ergonomics. That gun just never felt comfortable to me. At. All. But for some weird reason, I could shoot the tail feathers off a gnat with that particular gun, and I'm just an average handgunner at best. Damnedest thing.

Posted by: Ima Wurdibitsch at July 21, 2011 01:16 AM (otfJ1)"

Not that uncommon.  GGE is right that the Glock's grip is simply at a different angle.  I first picked up a Glock and it was terrible.  After a little practice it was the most accurate pistol I ever fired that wasn't extremely expensive.  I still prefer my USP instead.  It's accurate, but also I just like that damn safety lever, and I like seeing the hammer, and I like a double action so my first trigger pull is not quite so easy.

Sigs are sweet.  Whatever you're comfortable with, as I'm sure you realize, is the best way to go.

Posted by: Dustin at July 20, 2011 09:25 PM (519+h)

439 Lots of folks aren't comfortable with the Glock's trigger safety (I wasn't real crazy about not having a safety other than the trigger one myself). Of course the best gun is the one that you will carry because the one in the safe doesn't do you a damn bit of good.

There are those Americans who live on the "wrong side of the tracks border" in order to afford a standard of living (that includes a greater threat against your life). This isn't the first time one of the border towns provided the setting for torture and murder of an American citizen, adult male college student. The last story I read, the American student was living on the Mexican side with his girlfriend and child, where they could afford a home while he went through school. This article didn't say if Navarro lived in the upscale Colonia Kennedy neighborhood. It also didn't say whether Navarro had been kidnapped from the American side of the border, or whether there's reason to believe that Navarro had a drug habit or clientele. I do know that the Mexican cartels target American/Mexican dual citizens of Chihuahua who won't participate in crime, breaking and entering, torturing, kidnapping and murdering the upstanding citizens in front of the children, those in the right denied gun rights to protect life and property in Mexico. San Diego is another setting where Americans retire on the Mexican side of the border in order to enjoy a "better" standard of living.

498 I don't get it... that budget game tells me that making the Bush tax cuts permanent increases the size of government? How does letting people keep more of their money lead to a larger federal government as % of GDP??

Eagle Scout with my Orienteering badge (many years ago, but some of it still sticks in my head)... I can use a compass and directions without a map, or make a map if need be.  Yeah, reading a map isn't a problem.

502 So these two bimbettes went from one form of utter stupidity to another equally perfect example of utter stupidity.  At least they are consistent.
