Overnight Thread- Cram & Puke Edition [CDR M]
— Open Blogger

Well Moron Nation, I'm still at work but damn, when ONT duty calls, I'm there. So I'll have to live vicariously through y'all gettin' all drunk and topless and perhaps pantsless. So get your swerve on and it's time for the ONT. If the ONT sucks, you can blame NMCI (Navy Marine Corps Internet).

Deadlier US Munitions
Oh yeah. Sounds great until we cut the budget some more. U.S. Military Munitions To Become Even Deadlier.

A groundbreaking material is slated to replace steel in warhead casings. It will allow U.S. munitions to detonate with more force than ever before, while significantly increasing the chances of eliminating enemy targets.

By combining multiple metals with standard manufacturing methods, High-Density Reactive Material (HDRM) has the potential to seriously bolster the explosive capabilities of most munitions with virtually no sacrifice in strength or design.

In contrast to current munitions, the innovative materials system integrates the casing with approved warhead explosives for additional deadliness. The unique design for fragmenting warheads also enables the release of chemical energy after impact, which increases the chances of the bad guys dying.

Political Cartoon Of The Day

Yup, this image pretty much nails it.

The Institute Of ExtraTerrestrial Sexuality

I bet this Institute of Extraterrestrial Sexuality gets federal dollars, probably from Stimulus Funds. I'm sure CAPT Kirk might have some input for their upcoming book that explores, well, I'll let their own words explain.

A nearly 300 page, full color book and DVD containing art, writing, and film that envisions the sexualities of beings that may some day be encountered – if not in outer space than at least in our dreams! A joint publication by Encyclopedia Destructica and the The Institute of Extraterrestrial Sexuality, this project will publish the work of 69 artists, writers and filmmakers who have created an amazing range of expressions that expand our conception of the possibilities of alien life forms and the nature of sexual desire. Strange Attractors straddles the line between a speculative scientific exploration and a work of artistic imagination and creativity.

The Best And Worst Designed Alien Species In Video Games

Speaking of ET's, here is a listing of The Best And Worst Designed Alien Species In Video Games. Now, I haven't played some of the games discussed here like Halo and Gears of War, but really, no Doom 3 baddies?

Star Wars Pron Parody

Oh damn. This little trailer beats the crap out of the prequels. Hands down. And yes, the video is safe for work. The only naughty part is the letters X X X. And maybe the stormtrooper armor cut for a lady. Definitely no blaster protection there. So I wonder how some Star Wars lines will work in a Pron movie. Big walking carpet can take on a whole new meaning in this movie. Or it could mean we'll see what happens when an Ewok meets a Wookie.

Moron Lifestyle Underwear?

So some company in Chile is pushing a new type of underwear made of copper that eliminates the fungus and bacteria on your dirty arse. Not sure this is a good idea in today's economy with all those copper thieves out there. Or from a hygienic point of view.

It's the sterilizing effect of copper that works the cleansing magic. The copper underwear is made by merging copper with polyamide to produce an oil that's turned into wire. The wire is then woven inside your tightie whities so that the copper stays in contact with your skin so it can kill fungus and resist odor. So fresh and so clean!

Party Manners

Now, I know when I've been invited to parties, I usually bring something along with me but that usually was a 40 oz Bud in a brown bag or double Whopper with cheese depending on the menu. Seriously though, does anyone still practice good manners when attending a party? So what does one bring to a moron meetup? Puddin? Plastic bottle vodka?

All this talk of flowers and scented candles aside, most men prefer to bring liquor to events they attend. Yes, as we’ve mentioned it’s not very unique, but it’s well-received, it’s easier, and it’s something many men feel more comfortable buying and giving. Appropriate to nearly every occasion—except if you’re visiting a “dry” house—alcohol can be a thoughtful hostess gift if you think a little before you purchase it.

Take wine, for example. If your hosts are oenologists, donÂ’t insult them with a bottle of two-buck Chuck. Visit a real liquor store and purchase something in the $20 range, like a nice chardonnay or cabernet sauvignon. Or you could exercise a little creativity and select an interesting sauvignon blanc, viognier, zinfandel (red only, please), muscat or shiraz from a more unusual wine region, like Alexander Valley or Chile. If you are helpless around wine, ask the proprietor for help.

Fine liquor makes for another excellent hostess gift. Unless you know your host has specific tastes in spirits, stick to the basics, like brandy, fine gin, flavored vodka, or top-shelf tequila. Jagermeister, Goldschlager, and flavored schnapps are never acceptable.

Well there you go. No box wine and no liquor that is usually found at frat parties. I'm pretty sure at a moron lifestyle party, ALL booze is happily accepted.

That dog reminds me of the Irish Setter bird dog I used to have. A good sized stream separated my property from my neighbors and there was a deep pool in the stream by the neighbors house. They bought some ducks and put them in the pool.

My dog would break out of his pen even though I kept adding on to it until it looked like a prison camp (the fucker started tunneling then) and go to the neighbors, swim underwater and come up underneath the ducks and grab them.

Well, I'm guessing you mean an auction and not estate sale.

An Estate sale is essentially a yard sale, but with everything in the house. Normally this is done after the owner dies and the family doens't want to deal with all their stuff. So they bring in a company that sells it out of the house and takes a cut of the money.

An auction is where you give you information to the auctioneer and they hand you a card with a number on it. Then when the auction begins you use the card or some other signal(a nod or raised hand) to bid on an object. Then when you win the bid, you hold up your card with the number on it and they record it. Then at the end of the auction you bring your card up, pick up your stuff and pay for it.

As for hostess gifts, we always take something and the RushBabettes usually take a plate of brownies when they go to friends' houses for sleepovers.  I'm thinking of making limoncello now to use as little Christmas goodies.  I'm just stuck as to what kind of bottle I could use to put them in.  I need something sort of nice looking but not too big and not too little.  By Christmas, I figure people will appreciate alcohol way more than cookies.

75 My wife got a DUI five years ago. It was completely her fault, of course, but what really pissed me off was that the cop watched her walk to the car, waited until she pulled away, then followed her and pulled her over. To me, this totally goes against "protect & serve". DUI is illegal because it's dangerous to other drivers as well as you. Waiting until someone pulls away defeats the purpose of "protecting". Sadly, it's largely become a way for a municipality to make money on fines. Again so there's no confusion, 100% my wife's fault.

When we lived in Saudi, we would bring bacon as a hostess gift. It went over really, really well. But my favorite hostess gift story was a friend who went ot a superbowl party, arrived with popsicles as his hostess gift, ate a bunch of food, took a dump in the restroom, and then realized he was in the wrong house, when he looked out the bathroom window and saw his other friends going into a house across the street. Awkward.

The problem is "inflation" means two different things.  To someone like Ben Bernanke inflation is an increase in the total number of dollars in the economy.  From that perspective there really is no inflation - the housing crash wiped out trillions of dollars.

When normal people say "inflation" they mean the cost of living, which has definitely been going up unless you're in the market for a house.

By every legitimate definition of inflation, we be 'flated—the "stag-" kind of 'flated, if you prefer the illegitimate definition.

267 "M2" has approximately doubled since 2006. Five years, two times. That's inflation. The kind with Hitler in it.

And it doesn't matter because of the credit destruction.  The reason they're printing like mad (and that's all QE is) is to make up for the money that disappeared in the housing crash.

By every legitimate definition of inflation, we be 'flated—the "stag-" kind of 'flated, if you prefer the illegitimate definition.

Nope.  In terms of actual dollars people have to spend we're mired in deflation, still.  That's why the economy is sucking wind.  If we were really having "the kind with Hitler in it" don't you think prices would be going up a bit more?

YES, That is who Obama reminds me of - that kid in the class, who never handed his homework in on time, but who talked a good game and who always had the most creative excuses.  You'd want him to be late with the homework again just to hear what bullshit excuse he'd come up with this time.  Until the gig was up and he knew that he just wasn't going to pass the class.  Then he just got mean.

The Liberal bug is telling the dog that he must give most of his food to the other bugs out of fairness.  The bug also tells the dog that some of the bugs may want to attach themselves to his skin to suckle a bit of his blood.  The bug then tells the dog that after he (the dog) dies from the diseases caused by the bug bites, the bugs will live off his carcass for a long time while hatching their eggs, larva and maggots in his rotting flesh to perpetuate themselves.

A.  The dog should submit to the fairness requested by the Liberal bug.

302 ChemJeff, picric acid is/was used as a fixative (Bouin's Fix) for histology. I used to see it in tissue labs, when we would go to clean them out. I was not supposed to touch the stuff unless diluted by 30% in H^2O or 10% in Alcohol, but my instructions were sort it and pack it. The week I started, two guys were badly hurt opening up a chemical cabinet that a bottle of the stuff had broken and crystals had formed on the hinges. The cabinet was painted yellow so they had no warning of the crystals. Of Course Health and Safety blamed them for the accident .

The owner of the boat the japs ran over later boarded one of the whalers and they took his ass back to Japan and put him in jail for six months.

He must have got religion in jail because he ended up suing sea shepard because they abandoned him and didn't pay for his boat.

one of the southern islands around argentina siezed one of the sea shepards big boats and won't give it back unless they pay $1.5 Million.

Note number one, the whale boat is much bigger and thus less manuverable, the little boat just about had to have run right under her bow because there isn't much of a chance that they would be able to turn into it so quickly.  Note number two, the small boat (looked like the batboat) should have been able to back out quickly if her skipper had been at all competent.

368 Yeah Picric Acid is shock sensitive when it forms crystals that will detonate roughly 3 or 4 times stronger than Dynamite. It was one of the more Nasty things we would commonly come across. When we spotted it the rule was call it in and get the right people to handle it. Mostly soaking it in alcohol or if it was a plastic container cut through the sides while holding it under water. I would hate to have to make Lead Picrate in prison, I think I would go with the Shiv instead.

well, once it gets to your bones, it's too late, because it irreversibly binds to calcium.

360 yeah, hydrofluoric acid.... that stuff is just pain in a bottle. no way around it.
if you spill it on you, the way I've heard it described, is that it feels like your bone is on fire, but you can't do anything about it because it's under your skin - cold water doesn't help
it's scary shit

People get all excited about Hydroflouric because of the unique properties that allow it to actually eat through glass. But as acids go, it's not particularly any more reactive  than others for the same concentrations. Just keep in mind IT'S AN ACID.....IE: keep it off your skin in the first place! You get the equivilent in hydrochloric on your skin and you'll be bitching just as much.

414 MrObvious - well, HF is different though.  the thing that hurts about HF is not the acidic property, but the fluoride attacking your bone.  with HCl, it doesn't attack your bone, it just dissolves your flesh.  they're both bad but with HCl you can wash it off because it doesn't actually attack your bone.  I've had a concentrated HCl spill on my wrist, it wasn't fun, it hurt like hell but it was a surface pain.  from what I understand, an HF spill feels like the inside of your arm is on fire.  which is just scary.

No and actually I think its more closely connected to the original storline, and think it could be most closely associated as a remake of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes even though I've never seen that.  If you see it don't get up after the credits start to role though.  You don't need to stick around all through them though but they do throw in little tag like 30 seconds- a minute in.

Example of high density reactive material (HDRM). Composites of hafnium or tantalum powder with teflon-like fluorinated engineering plastics such as  PVDF. It's a patent:  http://tinyurl.com/3q7bffw

Pyrotechnic mixtures of fluoropolymer and metal have been around for a long time. For example, a plastic composite igniter material made of magnesium powder and Teflon has been around for decades. The magnesium oxidizes by pulling fluorine out of the teflon; combustion products are magnesium fluoride and carbon. Once it gets going it burns hot. These things are  thermite-like in that they are made by combining reactive metal with an oxidizing agent that would normally be considered unreactive.

Apparently what is new is using high density metals and engineering the material to give it structural strength, and also to not ignite/explode until it is first fragmented and then impacts a hard object.

Note: I checked the price of hafnium and tantalum. On the order of $75 per pound.

541 Here's some thoughts on the movie trailer for Battleship I sent to some friends.  It was part of a larger review of Cowboys & Aliens, so just keep that in mind. I post them here cause they were all greatly entertained by it and I figure, well, Morons would love it too.

Oh, and it's a bit stream of thought.

--------

Saw some good trailers.  Brett Ratner is directing one with Eddie Murphy that looks good.  No, please, don't give me those looks!  I mean, I know, I know...Brett Ratner...Eddie Murphy...but it looks fun.  There was another one directed by the guy who did Zombieland...also fun looking.  Really fun.  I forget what either are called.

But ya know which one I saw?

The one that is fucking bafling me?

I mean like jaw on the floor, why Jesus fucking why scratching my head and wondering why all them smart Jews what run Hollywood would run with something like that?

Battleship.

Battleship?

Battleship .

Like the fucking 80s board game.

I mean, I'd *heard* that they were making movies based on board games, but I *assumed* they were just buying the rights and wouldn't actually do anything with 'em.

Cause they do that.

Optioned for film!  Then...development hell.  Then nothing.  Then tax breaks and subsidies.

Okay, yeah, remember the Clue movie?  Okay, that was corny, stupid, ridiculous...done for laughs.  So that's okay.

I think one, they're gonna go for...I don't know.  Lots of boob squish.  They got nothin'.

It's not like I have anything against a shameless actioner with battleships blowing each other the fuck up.  I mean...dude...that's awesome!  I just can't believe that, for starters, it required optioning rights for a board game and...well, that's prety much it.  Really?  I'm pretty sure the idea of naval battles are public domain.  It's happened in real life.  A lot.  Doesn't even have to be based on history, just have a movie that's, like, two sides squaring off against each other and pounding away at each other like two coked up, oiled up gay 15 year old boys letting their inhibitions go for the first time.  Fucking savagely, ya know?

Oh, but there was a second thing.  It's Battleship...does anyone remember the game having alien invaders?  Come on!!!!!  Do we have to have this fucking coalition of diverse international partners holding hands taking on some menace that's totally nonexistant but inoffensive to anyone in any way shape or form?  That is until intelligent life is discovered and Hollyweird commences the handwringing bullshit.  Why can't it be something like coalition of diverse internation partners holding hands and taking on...America?  And then America stomps the motherfucking shit out of those pinko faggots at great cost but decisively stomping their little faggot cornholes before raising a flag up in 'em?  Ya know, something patriotic.  With slo-mo, all Michael Bay style.  And Bruce Willis's manly tears.  Can't go wrong there.  Maybe Olivia Wilde's purty, dark, hardened nips.  I mean, they got the boob squish.  But that girl's made up like a whore.  She doesn't really count.  But anyway, the gayballs "many nations" bullshit is why everyone in the world hates us.  Hollywood wonders, I answer.  You people do more to represent us across the globe.  Time to fucking represent.  Make us look like a bunch of gaywad assholes and people act like America is full of gaywad assholes.  Go figure.

Oh well.

I'm doubly surprised Liam Neeson is in it.  I mean...Liam Neeson?  Well, either he's slumming it or his career is in a nosedive.  What a shame, great actor.

547 The only thing about Battleship that surprises me is that they're tying it into the board game.

It obviously has nothing to do with the game, so why not claim it as it is - a rather original story?  Do they really think they'll get more mileage out of it by branding it?  Sell more games?

That's what they originally made their bread and butter on: Showing older movies.  We used to get it when it first came out.  I don't think they were showing any recent movies (90's era) and the newest they had was in the 80's.  They showed the Star Wars movies a couple times and this was pre-Special Editions.

And is that Andy Levy on the Panel with Greg?

I got to see them play in 1999, about 6 months b4 his death. They were great. Their music lives on.

Never got to see 'em, but managed to catch my attention at the right time....and, sadly, they got dropped off the radar. Hugely underrated.

595 Sorry ... getting the house ready for the night.

I picked up some goodies at Borders and was planning to go again this weekend & then the washing machine blew...

Fortunately I was standing close by & heard the water overflow.  Got that vacuumed up & the agitator still works but then it wouldn't fill at all on the rinse cycle, so hosed the water in ...

This machine is back from the rock & stick days, so hubby does NOT want to repair it ... and neither of us knows how ... so probably not to many more books.

I will really miss Borders at Christmas time.  The people there were really helpful with age suggestions for teens and kids ...

600 @ 610 -- Ready to go back to bed and rest after reading the latest horseshit from Juan "the Victim" Williams.

Here it is, if anyone feels like losing their breakfast: http://fxn.ws/mUx5OX

Still remember when conservatives were going to bat for the slimy little fuckweasel after NPR broomed him, and Fox News ponied up a whole pile of money to dry his tears.

Maybe he can get a gig over at Tepid Air (he'd be a perfect foil for the "Captain" and "Allahpundit") after Fox dumps him. If they do, that is. FNC seems hell-bent on becoming "mainstream" these days.

GOP is out of step with America because they do not believe we need to raise taxes? What is funny is that Romney and Huntsman didn't try to dodge the question.

605 For those who missed the debate Thursday night

Transcript of 8-11-11 debate

I can tell already that I am not going to like this crap just from the very first opening round of questions. Bret Baier doesn't ask "questions", he states "opinions" and asks the candidates to agree with him.

Example:

BAIER: OK. Congressman Paul, as you know, when Standard & PoorÂ’s downgraded the countryÂ’s credit rating last week, one of the reasons S&P listed was because of partisan gridlock in Washington. Congressman, what specific things would you do as president to increase growth, calm the markets, create jobs that could pass through a divided Congress?

Fox and the rest of the MFM pushed this crap through the entire debate over that phony "deal". It wasn't "gridlock" that caused the damn downgrade you asshole. In fact it was the damn direct opposite. They raised the debt limit and did not cut spending. That was the reeason for the downgrade.

606 Sri Lanka, from Reuters linked at Breitbart BigPeace

Historically, a "grease devil" was a thief who wore only underwear and covered his body in grease to make himself difficult to grab if chased. But lately, the "grease devil" has become a nighttime prowler who frightens and attacks women. "The story we hear is he comes and bites young women's necks and breasts. Despite several complaints, the police have failed to act on that and in fact in two places have released the culprits."

There's nothing like marking yourself making intent obvious, covering yourself with grease.Vigilantes rounding up grease devils caught after attacking women are themselves arrested while the criminals are set free by police. When police don't intervene, the grease devils are either hung or dismembered by the population at large.

Posted by: Velvet Ambition at August 13, 2011 03:56 AM (0OJd9)

613 I read through about 3/4 of that "debate" transcript. It was not a debate. It was just as bad as the damn CNN debate. A bunch of "gotcha" questions/opinion statements by the panel. Gingrich was right.

There was no way for any of the candidates to "look good" in this POS forum. Drew stated he thought Romney came out on top for the simple reason that he didn't commit any gaffes or otherwise hurt himself.

I think he did hurt himself. He did not adequately dodge the Romneycare question. In fact, he once again defended Romneycare as being "right" for MA.

These debate rules and format are simply crap. They need to reduce the number of panelists and get rid of Wallace all together. Also need to get rid of any candidate who is polling less than some percentage. I would go with 5% right now and raise that bar the closer we get to 2012.
