— Open Blogger Evenin' Moron Nation and welcome to another weekend. Genghis seems to have been tasered while trying to chug a can of beer while upside down so I'm stepping into the breach to fill in.
Well, I guess there was some kind of big wedding today. This picture kind of stood out to me. Coincidence?
Curious where Ace has been? I think this headline may explain:
Ace, "De Niro" Unlikely Heroes of Japan Nuclear Crisis
"I spend several hours each day thinking about Ace or watching his clips," one online follower said on a message board dedicated to Ace.
"I think his rich expressions and the unpredictability of his actions, as well as his voice and fingers, are sources of his charm," one said.
WTF?
And why did no one just say NO to her.
Speaking of doom. Here's a nice little write up with pretty graphics showing just how boned Michigan is and how the State Workers there are livin' a pretty good life. Helpful Facts About Michigan's Public Sector.
The average teacher salary in Michigan has risen for 13 consecutive years, to $63,445 for unionized teachers in conventional districts (excluding charters). The average salary for private school teachers nationally is $39,700; when including benefits, the disparity is even greater.
Ever wonder how the word Boob came about? Well wonder no more.

Pretty interesting read on The Economics Of Death Star Planet Destruction. I'm sure Krugman would approve.
WhatÂ’s the economic calculus behind the EmpireÂ’s tactic of A) building a Death Star, B) intimidating planets into submission with the threat of destruction, and C) actually carrying through with said destruction if the planet doesnÂ’t comply?DoesnÂ’t the Empire take a huge economic loss from the lost productivity of an entire planet? They were presumably paying taxes and providing resources to the rest of the Empire. Presumably the loss of that planetÂ’s output would have to be made up by increased output from other planets that were either slacking in productivity due to rebellion or threatening to rebel and withdraw from the Empire altogether. It doesnÂ’t seem to make good economic sense.
Today's beastly duel. Dog vs Duckling.
I read this last weekend and I am pissed that it wasn't the screenplay that they used for the movie Tombstone. The 4th Draft For Tombstone by Kevin Jarre. This is so much better than what made it to the screen. I especially liked the part where Wyatt Earp rides into the Cowboy camp all by himself to get back his stallion that the Cowboy's had stolen from him the day after knocking Curly Bill out for shooting the sheriff. This might've made Tombstone the greatest western of all.
I don't think today's TV shows that still do a theme song can touch the theme songs from the 70's and 80's but here are 15 Shows That Still Have A Theme Song. I have to say that Hardcastle and McCormick was pretty catchy.
This Day In History The Oldsmobile died in 2004 (too bad GM didn't follow). Union captures New Orleans in 1862. Dachau was liberated in 1945. Riots Erupt Following The Rodney King Verdict in LA in 1992. Nixon announces the release of the White House Watergate tapes in 1974. And that 'roided out pitcher Roger Clemens struck out 20 batters in one game in 1986. You think he was doing steroids back then or later? Operation Frequent Wind begins in 1975 (sounds like code for an Obama speech).
Well fellow 'rons, that's all I got. It's Friday, bottoms up and time to relax!

That's my feeling too. She's one of those lucky girls who grew up and married a prince. (I still wouldn't marry a prince, but I like the fairy tale aspect of it.)
Mark Steyn was remarking on it today, that she's a commoner who may one day get to be queen, something that's really unheard of. He also pointed out that it used to anyone could grow up to be president, but within recent years we've only been selecting those with higher pedigrees from the Ivy Leagues...

I had to laugh today when I was going through boxes after my move. When I went on a cruise in '04 I had to have a birth certificate (now you need a passport), so after that I put it in a box and thought I had lost it. While going through the boxes, I found it and laughed when I read at the top "certificate of live birth." Not a birther.

Beatrice and Eugenie should've had their wardrobe choices approved since they were sitting right behind the Queen.
And as a disgruntled Episcopalian I want to spit on the Archbishop of Canterbury. It is too bad the Queen hasn't inherited her ancestors' methods of dealing with affronts to the kingdom because that aging hippie deserved to have his head removed from his shoulders years ago.

Mark Steyn was remarking on it today, that she's a commoner who may one day get to be queen, something that's really unheard of. He also pointed out that it used to anyone could grow up to be president, but within recent years we've only been selecting those with higher pedigrees from the Ivy Leagues...

When William becomes king she will be queen until his death but she won't ever be the sovereign. I believe she'd be the queen mother after his death (like Queen Elizabeth's mother was) if her child inherits the throne. When a female inherits the throne her spouse is relegated to prince (prince consort, maybe?)
Posted by: Dumb_Blonde at April 29, 2011 07:03 PM (+pEDS)

Point I was trying to make is that a Dominican baseball player complained that Haitians should not be let into the Dominican Republic after the quake. Even the Dominicans hate the Haitians. Also, the Haitians cast off French rule over 150 plus years ago, became a sovereign nation, and still do not know how to rule themselves. But yet if anyone criticizes the fact that they cannot handle a catastrophe like an earthquake because they have not evolved as a country, they are branded racists. And yet the Dominicans have thrived.

Yes, I thought it was funny when representatives of other governments were shown today attending the wedding. Now, granted some were from the commonwealth countries, and some were related to the royals, but still, I believe if we had a different set of tenants in the White House they would have been invited.

You seem to be confusing her with our First Lady such as she is. I expect the royal family is *far* more humble than the Obamas. In spades.
Kate's father was a dispatcher for British Airways. I think she knows what an honest day's work is. I imagine she'll end up being a spokeswoman for charities much like Diana was. You can ridicule her for that, but at least she's doing something good and not flitting around going on shopping binges and telling people to sacrifice while wearing an outfit that cost more than most people's paychecks.

Maybe it was just a convenient excuse but the Obamas would have made security a nightmare. The President's security can't be handed off like other heads of state. The secret service has to be involved in everything. Plus Jugears carts around about 40 planes full of crap with him.

Sure it was, and rightly so. You don't get to ship the bust of Churchill back as your first order of business, give the prime minister a shitty stack of DVD's that won't play, give his kids some shitty plastic marine one helicopters from the gift shop, and give the queen an Ipod filled with your gas bag speeches without paying a price.

Bwhahaha! There's some fallout from the WH banning that San Fran Chronicle Scrunt reporter from the press pool:
Chronicle editor Ward Bushee called the press office on its fib:
Sadly, we expected the White House to respond in this manner based on our experiences yesterday. It is not a truthful response. It follows a day of off-the-record exchanges with key people in the White House communications office who told us they would remove our reporter, then threatened retaliation to Chronicle and Hearst reporters if we reported on the ban, and then recanted to say our reporter might not be removed after all.
The ChronicleÂ’s report is accurate.
If the White House has indeed decided not to ban our reporter, we would like an on-the-record notice that she will remain the San Francisco print pool reporter.

Well, I'm going to stop wading in here because I really don't understand it. Other than to agree with Peaches that I think the Black uniforms are better. But that's probably only because they remind me of Christoper Plummer in Sound of Music.

Oh, and WSJ had a great op-ed the other day about the Middletons yesterday, "The Entrepeneurs' Princess". Her mom was a flight attendant and her dad was a dispatcher for British Airways. Her mom started the family business, "Party Pieces" in 1987 "after finding it difficult to source fun, simple party products for her children's parties."
"Party Pieces started out in a shed in the Middleton's garden. There, mail orders were taken for boxes with preselected party favors to fit a certain theme. Party Pieces really took off with the advent of the internet.
....The Middletons symbolize the opportunity that exists in a free-market system for those who take advantage of it. It is worth noting that they founded Party Pieces during the Thatcher era, when the Conservative government focused on lifting barriers to entrepeneurs through lower taxation, less regulation, and privatization. Coincidentally or not, the year Kate's parents started their business, 1987, was also the year that their longtime employer British Airways was sold off, with shares of stock going to its workers.
....In an interview on the Party Pieces website, [Kate's mother] says: 'I still work through to the early hours to hit a deadline and never take our success for granted.'"

Succession in the United Kingdom is also governed by the Act of Union 1800, which restates the provisions of the Act of Settlement 1701 and the Bill of Rights(1689). These laws stipulate that those who are not legitimate descendants of Sophia, Electress of Hanover and those who have ever been Roman Catholics or who have married Roman Catholics, are disbarred from succeeding to the Crown.

We have 7 sacraments too. Seriously, as an Episcopalian I never have trouble when I go to a Catholic church (unless they do their service in Latin) because it is identical to the services I grew up reciting.
I can't take communion in the Catholic church though. Whereas the Episcopal church is more accomodating and allows any baptized Christian to take communion.

Yeah but during the service there was a whole lot of "no man shall put asunder" stuff which I thought odd. Only because my impression had always been that divorce wasn't the offense in CoE that it is in Catholicism. Not that I thought there would be any implicit "stay married until your don't want to anymore" message but it seemed that message of marriage being a forever thing was more pronounced than in even Catholic ceremonies.

Superman's origin was reconned; He was "born" in Smallville because he was growing from an embryonic state and his maturity to an infant finished on the ground.
The comic book editors who decided to turn Superman from an American icon (Truth, Justice, and the American Way) to a more international icon should follow Supes' example, renounce their own US citizenship, and protest non-violently for the protesters in Iran....

So Episcopals split from Church of England after the Revolutionary War because the Priests had to pledge loyalty or whatever to the monarchy and obviously in the US that was no longer gonna happen. I think the easiest way to understand it is that we're all Anglican, there are 38 churches(groups in different countries) in the Anglican Communion. Anglican means we believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. The Archbishop of Canterbury is the symbolic head of the Anglican Communion.
However, there are many Anglican churches in the rest of the world who believe that the mainline Anglican Communion is becoming waaay too liberal and they want to embrace a more traditional interpretation so there is a split in the Anglican Communion with churches splintering off and joining another grouping.
It would take a term paper to sort it all out and even then it only sorta makes sense.

Yeah. He's good. I hate him. He's a green hypocrite, and has a shitty attitude. I'd rather have Montana. Or Bradshaw. Or the Mormon.
I really like Phil Simms. He hardly looked like an athlete, but he got the job done. And he had one of the best lines I've ever heard on TV. Announcing with the less famous Gumbel brother, who was going on and on about Terrell Davis' head for football, hard worker, first one in the locker room, last one out, all the intangibles, blah blah blah.
And Phil Simms says, "Yeah, and it helps to have arms as big as my legs."

Draft history on quarterbacks is really interesting. You had Brady go in the 6th round and Joe Montana in the 3rd - both multi-Super Bowl winners, Hall of Famers, etc.
Meanwhile, first-round picks Ryan Leaf, Cade McNown, etc. ... nowheresville.

Uh, no. There's that whole heretic thing that the CofE has going for it, plus the lack of apostolic succession, and then there's the lack of basic obedience to the Holy See, and then the abnegation of Sacraments, and ... well... no. They really aren't even close any more.
Of course, the folks in the CofE who decided they are tired of being led by a bunch of limp-wristed morons who joined the church as a dating club? Well, they are being let back into the Catholic Church, but they must renounce their allegiance to the Head of the Church of England, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth R. So, it's pretty much one or the other.

Bradshaw and Montana are the only QB's to win 4 Super Bowls. Montana also took a second team almost to the Super Bowl. Montana is the greatest QB of all time.

I keed. I have no idea what it means. When I was a smart mouth college boy, I used to like shocking folks by talking about it. The one rebuttal was "Jesus wasn't human, it ain't cannibalism." But now I'm thinking he had a human body and blood. Just idle chatter.

Staubach was OK. Aikman is a fruit loop. Emmitt's a chump too. He should've gone to Auburn, but Florida offered his father more money. The great thing about Smith is that he never beat Auburn, and the last time he didn't, he sat down on the field and cried like a little girl. Ahh, memories.
But yeah, I think Emmitt had a very beneficial effect on Aikman's accuracy. Along with the thug WR. Irvin. That was a bad time in my life.

And that was with really no running game and 3 of his top receivers out of commission.

Posted by: FUBAR at April 30, 2011 01:17 AM (1fanL)
It wasn't much of a punishment that year either. Because they only had to give up their pick at 31. And they actually had another pick much earlier in the draft that they had gained the year before in a trade with Dallas or someone else. And they traded that one away anyways if memory serves. So there was basically no one in the first round they were too terribly interested in anyways.

Yeah, hard to claim it wasn't a great, great game, even though the good guys lost.
Poor ol' Scott Norwood. You knew the Bills were gonna lose, it was just a question of how. Was that the year (91?) the Bills had that insane comeback against the Oilers, down 31-3? Or was it 35-3? I sat through that whole second half thinking, "OK, if the Oilers score once more, or the Bills don't score on a possession, it's over and I'm outta here."

Pavelski is a beast in the playoffs though.
The Plumber is a hard workin' sob. He brings it and makes Big Joe look like a slacker...
I thought the boarding call on BigBert was a marginal call at best. He went for a chip and the Shark turned into it.
Detroit will have a better offense once Zetterberg settles in...and if Pavel decides he wants to win a game by himself he will make it happen. He tried awful hard to get Z involved tonight.
I hope it goes 7.

I'm curious if there has been a mass exodus that we haven't heard about that went to Key West and Obama ordered the Coast Guard NOT to intercept. We'll never know since the media is silent.
3. And lastly this from zerohedge.com
Dear Congressman:
ItÂ’s here: Your moment at the plate. YouÂ’ve whiffed more than a few Â… and, yes, weÂ’re counting. But youÂ’ve been gifted another at-bat, and the PresidentÂ’s tired. Seventh inning stuff is coming out of his teleprompter, and this full-count fastball will be straight, level, and slow. You wonÂ’t see another one like this for five years.
An embattled first term president is faced with an outcome that he must, at all costs, prevent, and heÂ’s done very little ground work ahead of it. He is about to become the first President in American history to preside over a default on the national debt, unless you vote to let him raise the limit on the financial burden we leave our children. He would ultimately be crazy to deny any reasonable option, absolutely anything, rather than live with the outcome of his refusal. Politically speaking, heÂ’s whispered a prayer to the Greek God of Imprudence and Fiscal Insanity, raised a one-finger salute to the nationÂ’s savers through the sunroof of a stolen golden Beemer, and revved it toward the draw-bridge that you were elected to control.

Facts we know. Obama has a birth certificate and was born in Hawaii. Obama's father was never an American citizen.
Check out this link now.
http://tinyurl.com/6ztvocz
Takes you to Senator Patrick Leahy's website. A link to a press release from back in 2008. The Senate passed a resolution saying McCain is qualified to run for President. He meets the "Natural-Born" requirement.
Leahy "Because he was born to American citizens, there is no doubt in my mind that Senator McCain is a natural born citizen"
Also a link under related files to a PDF file that I've never seen before. Check this PDF file out.
http://tinyurl.com/6zaxseu
This McCain Analysis is dated March 19th, 2008. After I read it, I can not see how the bill Obama himself cosponsored would make Obama qualified as a "Natural Born" citizen.
Then there's this funny bit at the end of the press release. A statement by Senator Coburn.
Coburn "John McCain was born while his father was fulfilling his patriotic duty to his country. Even though they were not standing on American soil, his fatherÂ’s uniform still proudly displayed the flag of this nation."
How could that apply to the great one?
Barack Obama was born while his father was fulfilling his British or Kenyon patriotic duty cause his country wasn't America. Even though he laid the pipe down into a 17 year old American girl and conceived the "Smartest" man ever his father's suitcase still proudly displayed the flag of Kenya or Great Britain.
Now you gotta admit. That PDF file lays the case that Obama may not be qualified to be POTUS. I would say it's an honest question that deserves to be answered. I just don't understand why they made this entire resolution up about McCain yet totally ignore Obama's status.
I think the SCOTUS would need to answer; but with the Senate passing this bill for McCain would it not apply to Obama?
I don't want any fighting either. I'll longbow your ass to last week. I agree there is no doubt about Obama being born in Hawaii and he's an American citizen. I just question his "natural born" status cause of this stuff I read.
Other questions I would have. Would the marriage between Obama's parents be legit? I have read he had a wife in Kenya still. I don't even think it has anything to do with BHO jr. Just want to know how our courts would see it.
And Damn, have you guys seen the photos of Pippa Middleton? Whew, smoking hot.

Uh you realize that our laws allow that babies born on US soil to be natural born citizens even if niether parents are citizens of the US. Their are a bunch of babies born to illegal immigrants that can't speak English that meet that starting qualification for president. Michelle Malkin was born in the US while her parents had not yet become citizens so she also qualifies as natural born. So his being born in the state of Hawaii makes him a natural born citizen.

I blame unicode. And Halliburton. But mostly Halliburton.
I suspect it's some software that has gotten all fancy and decided to use a curled apostrophe instead of the ASCII tick-mark all-purpose straight apostrophe that serves triple duty as an apostrophe, opening single quote, and closing single quote. But it's using a different code set than the browser displaying the web page. And cutting and pasting, for some reason, doesn't translate between the codeset being used by the fancy software and that being used by the web browser.
But most of that is conjecture.

I can't link it here, but, watch the You Tube of Trump in Vegas. I think I like him. Maybe we need a no bullsh*t businessman in the high office for a few years. "
Yea - Trump is great. Until he runs his mouth one time too many and says something so incredibly stupid that it tarnishes not only Trump (who I could care less about) but the entire Republican field. Trump is a self-promoting huckster who started gaining traction when he turned the amp up to 11. Problem for The Donald is he is at 11 and isn't going to get the same attention talking about boring stuff like trade inbalances and the economy. So he ratches up the rhetoric until he goes that one step too far and the inevitable media backlash kills him with swing and moderate voters (who are still needed to win an election).
But, really, its not about winning elections is it? Its about finding a candidate who will insult Obama 24/7. So, lets ignore his 50k donation to Rahm Emmanuel, all his other Democratic donations, the casual way he adopts positions of principle and his 4 prior bankruptcy filings cause Trump talks about Obama like he is on an internet blog site.
Lets.

I had to google it to even find out about it. Normally it is top 5 links on Google news.
Did he say or do something stupid?
I did find this though:
In rural DeKalb County, Ala., where 32 people were killed by the storms, Matt Bell ignored two black helicopters that flew overhead at noontime. Instead, he focused on a field of obliterated homes, scattered with pencil-size wood shards, shredded insulation, ripped paper, shoes, toys, towels — lives in a million fragments.
Bell was helping a neighbor look for documents. Asked about federal assistance, he just shrugged, as many in this county did Friday.
“It’s not really in the mind-set of people here,” he said. “People here take care of each other — you see perfect strangers helping.
“We’re not going to turn it away,” he added. “But if we need to set up tents, start a fire, fish and hunt, we’ll do that.”

This White House vs. Free Press wouldn't get ANY msm attention were it not the San Francisco Chronicle -- not begrudging them attention, btw. And of course the Chronicle wouldn't cover this story if it weren't happening to them. Evidently Jon Steward did with the protesters' own video.
It isn't as if Carla Marinucci hoarded her video by posting it for the public to view and copy and link for distribution.
Do recall, Obama began his administration breaking and dismissing Contract Law (Detroit Auto Deal), providing precedence for all to disregard inconvenient Law.
He certainly hasn't grounds for whining that Carla Marinucci utilized the Press Pool guideline that "Print poolers can snap pictures or take video. They are not obliged to share these pictures...but can make them available if they so choose." The White House might be backing off their Carla Fatwa.
Imho, regarding the Constitutional premise of Free Press, the reaction by journalists evades the basic premise, arguing contingencies rather than reaffirming the original Amendment's power, as if that authenticity of Free Press is gone by the wayside, whittled into a mutant revisionist purpose so distant from the original, applied not to a free distribution of information but in covering up and hiding sourcing of information.
"The White House of course would have no problem including any reporter who follows the rules in pool-only events," White House press secretary Jay Carney said. But the POTUS has no constitutional right to dictate. If he wants to remain secluded, then he can't go prancing around the public inviting scrutiny only to censor people for having eyes to see.
Dan Gillmor, a media critic and head of the Knight Center for Digital Media Entrepreneurship at Arizona State University, said "Neither the White House nor the journalism organization in this case are showing much imagination about what's possible in a world with democratized media creation and access," Gillmor said.
NOT ENOUGH IMAGINATION?!
For us here in SF who went through the BALCO case and other fisticuffs with the George W. Bush Attorney General's prosecutors, this is deja vu. -- Bronstein
Hell, Obama's cult rally was all about expanding the frontiers of imagination, thriving together, following the Tucson assassination of a Republican Federal Judge and brain shot through Gabby Giffords, and murder of civilians.
This is deja vu, media fabrication of news, from one story to the next.
"Neither the White House nor the journalism organization in this case are showing much imagination about what's possible in a world with democratized media creation and access."

Plus, my lib brother always e-mails me articles that reflect good on BO. He didn't send me one article on the visit. Proof he did something stupid.

BS. He hasn't forgotten Katrina but it just shows that without a teleprompter, he does not know what the fuck to say.
No, I was just bragging about my time in office.

I think that this is a good example of the lack of rigor in his "working" life before he became president. There is nothing quite like an externally imposed deadline to focus the mind and teach one to draw from reserves that didn't seem to exist last week or last month or last year. That's how most of us have developed our skills at dealing with whatever life and work throws at us.
Obama (pbuh) has never had this kind of pressure, so it is predictable that he is unable to rise to the occasion the way Bush did after 9/11, or many other presidents have throughout our history.

We the American Citizens must carry on State by State together.
On that note, God bless our Southern State Americans through these days of grief with what bounties we share in times of sorrow. I do NOT place any trust whatsoever in FEMA or Presidential committees organized for their own financial money laundering of tax funds and charitable donations for the poor stolen by the elitist administrators.
/And shame on Bilderberg elitist Rick Perry for whining as if Texas only cares about Texas, without extending sensitivity and best wishes for the victims of these epic tornadoes.
Rick Perry's "Historic" administrative highlights:
Texas CPS kidnapped and held without legal cause and without proper facilities all (hundreds at once) non-adults from their "undesirable" community of families outside of Eldorado; the infliction of a health hazard on the State's entire non-adult female population for Perry's kickback; official State website posting Texans' personal information including SS#; arson that completely gutted the Texas Governor's Mansion allowing Perry to live in the most luxurious country gated neighborhood of estates at taxpayer expense; the blaze with no bodies found after a small plane hit the leased IRS property in Austin; no executive active response to Hassan's Jihadist terrorism against Texans (civilians and Military) victimized at Ft. Hood; and the loss of private property rights to enforce kickback Perry's mandated freeway through the open border with hell from Mexico built by a foreign company hurting Texas' local economy. It never helps having illegal aliens, human smugglers and drug cartels to compound the civil stress from panhandlers trespassing on state property and private property, starting campfires. Now Texas is going up in wildfire smoke spread by the strength of winds on drought. Likely just as Ann Richards did after leaving the Governor's office (and Bush), until things cool down at home Rick Perry will hightail it out of state pursuing globalist banking interests.

Obviously, this president isn't about to view the carnage resulting from his own orders.

So Heinlein was right. The Moon is a Harsh Mistress Dirty Hippie Slut. Explains a lot.
Oh, and congratulations on Cam Newton going first in the draft.

Thanks man. I'm not quite as obnoxiously defensive about him as I was when he was on campus.
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is a great book. I'm glad I read it before I read the brutal reviews, though.

1) This is proof that values, tradition and culture still do matter.
2) Today, we are all British - a tremendous example of unity and national pride
3) What would it take to unify Americans in such a celebration? Is it even possible in today's United States?
