— Open Blogger I'm back! Evenin' Moron Nation! How are we doing on this hump day? In all of the doom and gloom out there (thanks Monty), you might've missed this little bit.

The Sun has entered a bit of an active phase. We had a couple of big time flares the last few days and a few Coronal Mass Ejections. One of the CME's hit us today around noontime with a speed around 2000 km/s. You can track all of the fun here.
This is a particularly impressive video of a CME that thankfully was aimed away from us. Now to cheer you up, here's an article on What If The Biggest Solar Storm On Record Happened Today? It would be interesting to see what would happen if a Carrington Storm type of event happened today. Probably chaos right Kratos?
Hmmm. Speaking of things a CME can do, how about what an EMP can do? North Korea Nears Completion Of Electromagnetic Pulse Bomb. Hopefully Mr. Peace Prize is paying attention.
The Libyan Rebels have got a fight on their hands and Ace had some good discussion on it earlier. This article has some good photos of the action on the ground. Not sure about their fighting technique. Not even Rambo wore bullets around his head. The guy in the office chair has got to be union though.

Well, since we are discussing war stuff, here's a little musical ditty with some pretty good war footage from the 'Stan. I always liked me a little Oingo Boingo. Is Danny Elfman even scoring movies anymore?
Now, it's been some time since we've had a discussion on cooking. I remember back during the holidays thinking that I've never had Plum Cake. So I finally got off my butt and decided to look up how to make it. I found this video highly instructional on how to make this cake but I can't seem to remember the ingredients. Maybe I'll memorize them the next time I watch it.
According to the AP, there are too many whites, men leading the military. I respond.

Text messaging may help smokers quit. Of course, if you end up having texts like this, you'll be back to smoking in no time.

More autocorrect texts here. Highly recommend checking it out.
I'll be damned. Didn't know Stormtroopers had feelings. Chicago band Shattered Trees presents a little emo stormtrooper.
Psst. Obama. This might work well on some Libyan military types. 7200 pounds of explosives. In the 'Stan of course.

After reading this article, I'm convinced that I just witnessed journalistic literary fellatio on the President. Good God she just went overboard in her description of Obummer. Cool handling of the Egyptian crisis?? Seriously. He did nothing. Just about as much as he did to earn the Nobel Peace Prize.
What's a teacher gotta do to keep a job around here? Tera Myers, ex-port star, loses teaching gig in St. Louis after student discovers her X-Rated Past. I bet the student who found out tried to blackmail her to sleep with him. She said no and he went forward with the information.
I swear, this is dog torture man. With cupcakes.
Man, these birds are damn fast.
Name this celeb.

Well, that's all for tonight. Enjoy and discuss.

After an EMP attack? Sure.
Ever see Jericho? It followed the similar path of shows with really good premises that turned lib-tard, but I think it modeled the aftermath of a nuclear/EMP attack well-enough. If you've ever seen Iranium, an weapons expert in that movie estimated that an EMP attack that managed to cripple the electrical infrastructure of the US would lead to the deaths of at least 70% of the American populace.
Thinking about how interconnected and dependent on electricity everything is today... that estimate might not be far off. Its horrific to think about.

I miss having the fleebaggers here, by the way. It was hilarious getting updates on them. Last week, one of the douches said Walker is trying to turn WI into a police state. O RLY? Seems to me that the "anti-democratic" forces are the ones who refuse to do the people's business. How the fuck does he think Walker got elected if not through an election? Also, the police are on the union's side. So, how is it a police state?

Ok so I've got a computer problem. My PC has crashed while playing some games but always has been able to run fine after a restart until yesterday. It crashed. And the monitor showed distortions on reboot. It crashed and blue screened before windows booted up. So I started it in safe mode. and It loaded. Disabling the driver for my video card would allow it to start up in normal windows. Restarted it today and no screen distortions. Reenabled the driver and it was running fine for a while and its back to crashing.
So I'm thinking video card is shot. Any other possibilities, before I go and buy a new card?

Funny you mention that. I was working on that last week for an article. I was trying to find out if some of the union supporters have in fact supported cop killers or were involved with the WTO protests which injured a lot of cops.
I believe Beck said he was putting the Van Jones stuff up on The Blaze. I don't usually listen to Beck, but he's been eerily right about some bad stuff lately. I tend to listen for about 15-25 minutes or so when I'm driving to work or back from a run.

Posted by: buzzion at March 09, 2011 11:49 PM (oVQFe)
1) COMPLETE uninstall of drivers and install newly downloaded drivers. Depending on your card you may have to look up online how to do a complete uninstall, most of the time drivers leave bits behind. If those bits are corrupted, a normal reinstall won't fix it.
2) Do you have software that monitors the temp of your video card? Have you opened the box to see if it's caked with dust? Temperature can do stuff like that, and over time destroy the chipset.

You people cost all the families or your students duress because you assholes closed schools and the parents that have to go to work to pay for their families suffered in order to either stay home with their kids or find daycare. You should be ashamed.
Yup, all that time wasted on crap "anti-bullying" campaigns and curriculum--total bogus. Look who's bullying whom. Any teacher that participated in these protests should be canned for violating anti-bullying rules.

re video card -- do the software reinstall as Merovign recommends, but first pull the card from its slot, clean it with canned air, then reseat the card. Sometimes a contact point will get a bit dirty or corroded. Wipe the contact points with a clean soft rag.

I lost my head (literally),In a tragic car accident.
Speaking of losing your head, did you see that moderate Muslim man who beheaded his wife is only going to get 25 years in prison for 2nd degree murder! This was that tv producer who had a tv station called "The Bridge" to dispell stereotypes of Muslims after 9/11. He claimed that he was traumatized and abused by his wife. Other witnesses claimed that she was planning to divorce him, and that's why he killed her. I believe she also had a protection order against him before he killed her too.

We've been spared a lot of pain because jihadists as a whole are inept and ineffective the vast majority of the time. But we cannot count on their stupidity protecting us all the time, and outfits like Hezbollah have much more competent terrorists..

It would be even better if that cat could scoop his own litter and put it in the toilet and then flush it.
I actually knew someone who taught their cat to go to the bathroom in the toilet. They built some kind of thing that cat climbed on and perched so he didn't fall through the seat.

About the only thing I didn't do was the clean rag on the contact points. The rest I did do. Like I said I really think its the video card being shot. Considering I would get a blue screen on start up, but disabling the display adapter in safe mode would allow it to start in normal mode without issue

All Black is certainly a stylish choice, Darth Rum. Very traditional choice.
Of course you can have milk, we have whole milk, chocolate milk, vanilla milk, egg nog, and a variety of non-dairy choices. That "Silk" stuff terrifies me but you might want to give it a shot.
We'll have to order a custom mug for you, to go with your uniform, but you can pick one of these for the time being.

Is the fan on the card running at full speed? Sometimes if the bearings get cruddy it'll still spin but not fast enough to do much good. It sounds like it's temperature related, some component on the card may have deteriorated so that it fails even though the temp is officially within specs.

Friend of mine says she's going to crack Gluten Free Crullers and Croissants, which leads back to some very, very interesting cookie possibilities.
I haven't baked much since I had to abandon the human food, but I might get back into it. Part of the reason is it's just for me now, I used to take stuff to work.

Bolt action for sure. Winchester is a good make. Academy Sports is where I'll probably shop first. I could use some scope advice too; a lot of times Academy sells gun/scope combos but I doubt the lower end stuff will be much good beyond 400 yards.
Hoping to keep total expense around $500 or so. Not counting ammo, duh.

Here's a couple really neato idea's you can try in your own earth dwelling:
Participating can be as easy as unscrewing one light bulb or not idling when the car is stopped.
and natch you'll want to turn down the thermostat and cut showers in half...

#322
Remington 700's and Savage's have more long range potential
Winchesters, not as much.
Ruger bolt actions are too much of a pain to modify for long range.
Cabelas has a sale to the 13th on a combo Remington700ADL for $449 that is a good starting point. The scope will get you started but you will have to upgrade down the road.
take this up tomorrow, I gotta go

1. His divorce was quite expensive.
2. He was fired from his 300K a year job by NBC for banging an intern.
3. At 36 years old, he knows that is the optimum age for being a NFL running back.
4. His twin brother is still going strong in the NFL, why not him?
5. He is dead f'n broke.
He is from where I live, these were all in the article in our newspaper this morning about his "comeback".

If it were Darth Rum asking, I'd say 7mm Remington Ultra Magnum (7mm RUM).
7mm has better sectional density and, out at extreme ranges, will perform better than .300 mag. BUT .338 is better than both, BUT it's expensive.
Plain Jain 7mm Mag is okay, too, not as common as .308 but more common than the others.
The .308 is far and away the cheapest for ammo.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that's not how it works. I mean, Obi said that, and what did he do after Vader killed him? Made a couple of phone calls? Yeah, ooooh, scary.
And who killed Palpatine? Vader. Constructive Randomness, Chaos, that's what we're all about! It's all part of the plan. Mostly Emperors retire these days.
The Jedi? Librarians. Librarians who blow up installations and kill thousands of soldiers and technicians, but librarians nonetheless.

I have been in the shit too man. Different kind but enough My guy respects me in my own right as a hardass that can take it when things get rough. Thats why i know better than to make a bad thing worse and to always make sure to bellyache where it wont get back to him. That way im got it all out, but i havent run him down to his friends, or to friends of mine hes gotta look in the eye. (which sux)
problem is with most people nowadays is they dont get that it doenst matter if shes horrid. Hes hispanic and its his FAMILY. And hes a marine and there are some things you just dont DO like leave momma to dumb brother and his skanky GF to take care of... Fortunately my dad the AF col gets it. theres no hard feelings over here. (my sis is worthless too) Every family seems to have a designated sibling to take care of the folks. My mom and dad both took care of their folks. I'm the one to take care of mine. Hes it. Like it or not, just seems to be the way it is with most people.
have a friend who like to say "every family has one, and if you cant think of who's it in your family... its you!"

outpouring of emotion is overrated and it scares the horses. Getting shit done, being there and having honour is what counts. hell even when he was deployed he was better at being there than the hollywood people are when they are actually in the same room!
but hes an NCO and the Old man was too. so i actually have had a few laughs with the friend who set us up that you really can fall in love with someone who's like your parent. I already knew alot about what hes about and how he thinks, and it was hilarious to study with him when he was going thru training. He was stunned that i already knew alot of the answers. Heh.

You've run the gauntlet girl...and probably know more about Marines then Marines do. Sounds like your heads screwed on pretty good too. I like reading your horsie threads, you got some spunk. My youngest daughter *21* loves horsies and we've had them bunking at the barn quite a few years. She's going to Vet assistance collage..
Give a big Semper Fi shout out to all your jarheads from a member of the "walking dead" era Vietnam...bros one and all

See you went and wore your apprentice out lettin her do the bulk of the fightin... also some techie killing thingies might take a lot of the work out of all that sword whacking...

Indeed i will. you know, he thinks you had it way rougher than he ever did, and really respects your fight and where it took you.
our best friend just went out to 'Stan, we dont know really where he is. Thats the rough part of this. Hes a sharpshooter so we imagine hes somewhere fun, and kinda cold out on a rock. I miss him like hell tho. He's chechen and tells the Best stories. But hes a crazy fucker and even my russian friends agree theres no crazier fucker than a chechen. Hes a badass.
Tell your girl its rough work but great. I do layup work for the Ohshit Vet in my neighborhood for extra ducats. I do some extra extreme rescue on the side. (i am a crazy fucker myself.) But let her know if she gets to win 50/50 shes doin good and not to let the losses get her down (they are very hard on me.)
remember when you throw down with death for a living sometimes you are gonna lose.
Marine says what makes my job freaky scary is that he only kills strangers who are bad men. I kill my friends. I told him no. I make them a deal. I will make you better. And if i cant make you better, i will make it stop.
Someday you may have to remind your girl of that if it gets to her. Shes doing right, but its tough to see the suffering and the loss. Because its all kindness in the end. But when you lose it still really sux cuz some of the little critters are really fuckin special.
And yeah i have run the gauntlet man. there are no words really. But i guess i wouldnt trade my life for any other at this point. BUt if i could have a do over, probably marrying that artist was not the smartist thing i ever did. And sticking with it for nearly fifteen years... well that was just showing off how much shit i could take. I coulda done six years and everyone woulda been just as impressed.

We were just working out the kinks so they wouldn't have too..heehee
Really same shit different location. We did get a lot of screwing from our own peeps, Sec of Def all the way down.
I do some extra extreme rescue on the side. (i am a crazy fucker myself.
That actually sounds like fun..and I gathered your "craziness"..
The kido don't mind the work for the animals, she loves the beasts. She's surprised shes able to cut cats and such open for school and thought that would be the make or break so hopefully she's golden. She has dealt with the death aspect a few times. Will pass on your sugesstions
probably marrying that artist was not the smartist thing i ever did.
same here mine was no artist but pretty liberal...I actually feel much better now (28yrs.)

rescue is GREAT if expensive. Best thing in the world.
Its losing the special ones that marks you inside and is hard to take. Or the bad deaths. I hate those. I would rather do it early and easy than watch them struggle hard, suffer and lose. I get in on a super little critter that wants to fight an impossible fight (cringe) and it's that heart and the super little personalities that just hurt so bad when you fail them and they suffer.
I may be crazy but my win ratio is I lose only one out of seven. So that makes me an official poor sport when i lose one cuz im NOT used to losing.
cuttin on a dead one is gross and sad. I'd rather cut on a (grown up) dead human that donated their body to science. (Its a consent thing, i know i really am crazy)
But for your girl, its its gonna be taking the life out of a sweet little fighter that hurts. Thats why i am tellin you the words that saved me, tonight. "Its not more life. Its just more suffering." to tell her some night cuz she will come someday and cry to you cuz youre her daddy. Wish the old man was alive or i would go to him. (My dads no good for that, thats why he gave me up to the old man.)
knowing some of this shit is cool beans when your family gets sick.

By Neil Bowdler Science reporter, BBC News
Scientists believe men once had small spines on their genitalia such as those found in chimpanzees, cats and mice.
Analysis of the genomes of humans, chimpanzees and macaques indicates that a DNA sequence thought to play a role in the production of these spines have been deleted in humans, but has been preserved in other primates.
The researchers at Stanford, Georgia and Pennsylvania State universities in the US wanted to trace evolutionary changes in human DNA.
They compared the human genome with those of the chimpanzee and macaque, and came up with 510 stretches of DNA that have been conserved in our primate relatives but deleted in humans.
The researchers then focused on two deletions, linking one to penile spines and another to the growth of specific areas of the brain.
Penile spines are barb-like structures found in many mammals. Their role remains under debate, and they may play different roles in different species.
They may increase stimulation for the male during mating. They might also play a part in inducing female ovulation in a small number of species, but there is evidence that they can cause damage to the female too.
Then there is the suggestion that they might have evolved to remove "mating plugs" - material that some male species deposit in the female genital tract to block other males' attempts to fertilise the same female.
"It's been proposed these structures can help remove the copulatory plugs left by other males; so in some mammals with multi-male mating systems, there's quite a little arms race going on for fertilisation," said Professor Kingsley.
The researchers believe the loss of these spines in humans may be related to changes in human courtship.
The loss of spines, they say, would result in less sensitivity and longer copulation, and may be associated with stronger pair-bonding in humans and greater paternal care for human offspring.
Copulatory plugs? Well, no oatmeal for breakfast this morning. *ugh*

Ya I was a "wrench" before I smartened up and got into computers. Always used lava myself at home but we had the orange stuff at work. The OG did work better as it got under the nails and into the cracks and crannies.
