Overnight Thread-In The Air Tonight Edition [CDR M]
— Open Blogger

Well what's up Moron Nation?! It's Monday and well Monday's suck, especially with no NFL football game on but wait, at least there is a bowl game on. I would still have rather seen Stanford in the Rose Bowl but whatev. I dig tradition. Maet is up flying in the wild blue yonder which gave me an idea for a music selection for tonight. One of my fave songs of all time and frankly, one of the iconic scenes of 80's TV shows. Just awesome.

The Foundry over at The Heritage Foundation has the Top Ten Reasons America Won't Miss The 111th Congress. It's all good. And right.

Well I'll be damned. Who knew that this was how Irish dancing came about. As Chandler once said on Friends about Micheal Flatley: His legs flail about as if independent from his body! I guess if you really have to go, you can do this too!

Nice. Another real life product catching up to the movies. New RAF Helmet Allows Pilots To Shoot Down Enemy Jets By Looking At Them.

Well moronettes, I bring you sad news. I know some of you 'ette's are all hot and bothered over Ryan Reynolds. Well, it seems Sandra Bullock is the cockholster that just blocked y'all. Seems she and Ryan were New Year's Eve mates. When you ladies go after Sandra, can you guys livestream it back here to the HQ? Thanks.

WTF? That was my response when I first saw this image and read "Sponge Bob Squarepants: Bikini Bottom Groom and Go. Teaching ages 3 and older to shave their bikini bits? Then I realized, Bikini Bottom is the name of the city that SpongeBob lives in. Still, you think they would've done a little QA before releasing this like this.

Ok, which one of you PA morons is missing your blow up doll? It would seem it was the cause of a car crash. Thankfully, there were no fatalities. The blow up doll was incarcerated though.

The only way this video gets better is if someone had done this to Obama. Then again, the SS would've just shot the shit out of the remote control car. No word yet from the Navy if this is offensive to view. h/t Journolist. (By the way, check out his blog: The Clarion Advisory.)

9 Craziest Sex Headlines of 2010. How did I miss this one?

7. A 21-year-old UK man with learning disabilities is using government welfare to get himself laid. After taking a couple sexual health courses, he’s applying his discretionary funds to fly to Amsterdam to do it with a prostitute and lose his virginity, finally. His social worker completely supports his plan, saying, ““Refusing to offer him this service would be a violation of his human rights…. We can’t place restrictions on a young man who wants to experience the world.” That’s right—go get yours! Also, anyone else think this would make a great premise for a coming-of-age movie?

Today's Pop Quiz is What country does this flag belong to?

Name this fine, classic starlet:

That's all I got tonight. Have a fine Navy day, before that's banned and found offensive too.

8 Isn't Ryan Reynolds a bit old for Sandra?  From the story-

Despite speculation, a source close to Reynolds, 34, echoes the sentiment that there's nothing romantic in real life between the on-screen lovebirds, who starred in The Proposal together.

TCU took out a full-page, 4-color ad in today's LA Times, thanking the city of Los Angeles for their Rose Bowl experience.  Very, very classy, TCU, very moving, and most likely unprecedented.  I teared up a little when it was shown to me about an hour ago.  God bless Texas!

No CDR M, Reynolds and Bullock are not an item.

See they're just old friends. He was just asking her for advice. See, he's recently divorced but he really wants to hook up with me. But he doesn't want  me to be just a rebound so he was trying to figure out if we should start up now or wait a few months.

Got it?

Folks tend to forget just how friggin hot Miami Vice was at the time. It was stylish, had great music, it was edgy and had lots of hot people. However, sadly, it was a bit like a Top 40 hit that you've heard over and over until you can't take it anymore and it becomes a joke...like the Bee Gees. (Which, BTW, are still on my play list.)

That's his real hair. It's a technique that involved growing the hair you have REALLY long. I'm talking women's hair long. Then fashioning it in a manner that allows you to cover up your bald spot.

97 See. Not all earmarks are bad. From the top 10 list of the 111th:

Included in the earmarks were a $200,000 tattoo removal program in Mission Hills, Calif., and more than a million dollars to combat Mormon Crickets in Utah. (3/2009)

I once owned a combat Mormon Cricket, and they are some bad assed mofos.

The other slight came when Patrick Collins called the White House and asked to have President Obama call his ex-wife, Linda, to talk about their son.

He was told that Obama did not regularly make phone calls to the families of fallen soldiers.

Later, Patrick Collins read a story about ObamaÂ’s phone call to Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffery Lurie. Obama reportedly praised Lurie for giving quarterback Michael Vick a second chance to play football after serving time in prison for running a dog fighting ring.

“That burns,” Patrick Collins said Thursday.

I was disappointed that they went with the "good taste" pun at the end, instead of the novella's last lines (which were something along the lines of, "She kept asking me if I knew what love is. Sure I do. A boy loves his dog.")

Thanks for posting that Ben!  You know I'm a sucker for a happy ending!  Although, the poor robber's parents screwed him over when they saddled him with a misspelled name.  He probably got teased his entire childhood and was probably bullied and labeled with epithets like "Hairy Lairy" so it wasn't really his fault he was forced into a life of crime.  Besides, his own sister testifies to his true sterling character, and it was his birthday.  No one wakes up on their birthday and thinks it's going to be their last day on earth, for crying out loud.  Oh, and he was only a teenager!  Thank God the guy who defended his castle doesn't have a leg to stand on.  Otherwise, I'm sure he'd come under a lot more scrutiny.

Pronounced dead at the scene at 2:05 a.m. was Lairy Evans James-Watson, 19, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office.

James-Watson's sister Stephanie James told WPXI-TV that he died on his 19th birthday.

"I want everyone to know that he wasn't as bad as how everybody is going to portray him," she said. "He was a good person, a good brother, a good uncle. He worshipped my daughter, and my daughter loved him."

runningrn @ 400 well my calculated max heartrate is 166 but I generally am in the low 170's when I run

I do warm up first for about 5 minutes, I'm not sprinting, my pace is at about a 5.0 on the treadmill  (I think that's 5 MPH)

I think you're ok.  As long as you're not symptomatic at all (chest pain or shortness of breath).  If you feel dizzy or anything bad, then slow down.  And yeah, Garret is right about the breathing.

Crapware, crippleware, nagware. It's best to assume the only thing that will actually work is the base OS... sometimes not even then. Windows comes in six different versions. Lucky you. OS X is less stratified, but more expensive to buy given the hardware, and you may not be familiar with it. Linux is free, but you'll have to become a neckbeard to get the most out of it. Reading up on my new crush, Andrew Luck.  He's smart (co-valedictorian in h.s) and humble too.

"In an engineering statics class at Stanford this spring, a hush went through the room when a teaching assistant randomly called out the name Andrew Luck to solve a vector equation at the chalkboard.

Quicker than he could pick up a zone blitz, Luck, StanfordÂ’s quarterback, did his best Will Hunting impression and solved the complicated structural engineering equation.

“People generally applaud if you do something well in class, but there was a little extra bonus for Andrew,” said Cameron Lehman, Luck’s friend and fellow architectural design major. “He nailed the problem, and he’s the starting quarterback.”

Perhaps the part Andrew Luck likes best is that his profile on campus has not changed. During his freshman year, one of the resident assistants in his dormitory, Roble Hall, sent out occasional articles about Luck as part of an e-mail newsletter to the dormÂ’s residents. After the R.A., James Barton, had done it a few times, Luck sent a polite e-mail.

“Hey, James, could you tone down sending those e-mails with stories about me?” Barton recalled the message saying. “It’s kind of embarrassing.”

“He’s the anticelebrity quarterback,” Harbaugh said. “He’s got a beautiful blend of confidence and humility.”

Harbaugh added, “Andrew is the finest football player I’ve ever been around, and he’s one of the finest people I’ve ever been around.”

Luck, who has a 3.55 grade point average, also has an academic load in the classroom that few other star quarterbacks can match. His adviser, John Barton, described Luck’s architectural design major as having 36 units of math and science and a heavy dose of “hard-core structural engineering and designing.” Matt Leinart’s ballroom dancing classes at U.S.C., this is not.

Barton, a lecturer in the architectural design program, said he admired how Luck carried himself.

“With all the stuff about carrying the team and being the hope of Stanford football and all the potential future glory and dollars, he comes to class, works hard and asks great questions,” Barton said.

Lehman said that LuckÂ’s classmates knew who he was but generally left him alone. In his major, Luck is known as much for staying at office hours until 1 a.m. as for his football exploits. Although Luck is technically eligible for the N.F.L. draft this year, he talks about getting his degree from Stanford as if he were reading a public-service announcement.

“My family raised us that having a degree is important; it’s a must,” he said. “It’s definitely important for me.”

He also relishes the quirks of Stanford, calling his father to let him know what skits the universityÂ’s famously mischievous band will perform at halftime after being given the scoop by a former roommate who is a band member. He enjoys running into Condoleezza Rice, a Stanford political professor and avid football fan, at 6 a.m. in the weight room."

I hope I live long enough to see bald and liver-spotted Ezra Klein manically trying to explain why decades of conservative governance at the federal level have made America a global titan of limitless wealth and freedom.

496 351 hi all
what is a pomplamoose?
It's a two-person indie rock band.   "Grapefruit" in French is pamplemousse.   Some here think the girl's voice is bad.  I suggest they listen to them doing Mister Sandman, or to La Vie en Rose.   An amateur voice, maybe, but she doesn't miss a note.   (maybe some don't know how processed all those studio-produced singers are.  You think Lady Gaga can really sing?)   Pomplamoose's own original tunes are musically inventive, as are their arrangements.   Give'em a listen.   Or not.

509 "Pomplamoose" must be a local Bay Area thing. The chick is ok looking, but really...that's all there is. I ran a search on them last month just to see who she was. She's married to the clown in the commercial, who apparently is an undiscovered musical genius, according to the comments on their site. The commercials reflect their main gimmick....hipster versions of pop songs old and new. Hopefully, now that the holidays are over, they fade back into their well-deserved obscurity.

532 Morning beanervt, we're back in the cold shit this morning after a brief interlood with a tropical system coming through. Looks like the low will be a brisk 22.1°.

For the month of Dec the average daily low here was 26.9 and the average high was 47.9. That is 10° lower than last year which was about 5° lower than the year before.

We are setting new records for cold, both here and in Europe every Winter now. Also setting them in South America. It can no longer be ignored, we are entering a period of cold.

The scary thing is that the last time this happened it went very quickly. There was very little time to adjust and that is what killed so many people. We will probably wind up with a huge die off this time as well even as the real experts have been warning for several years now that it is coming. The reason?

You can't push communism with global cooling caused by the output of the sun.
