— Ace Like Patterico, I don't know if everything being printed there is a real DM. However, Gennette herself confirmed parts of the other day's dump.
Were those real, but now these are fake? Possible. I don't know.
Patterico's way of looking at it is it's news if it's real and it's also news if it's fake.
We don't know who "JohnReid9" is, the man (?) who is sending the DMs is. He has a connection to NikkiReid, "Betty," who actually received these DMs (it is claimed). Whether this is Father-Daughter or Husband-Wife or left hand/right hand we don't know.
That out of the way: If these DMs are real, then:
1. Anthony Weiner was not engaged in lewd conduct with minors, but
2. Anthony Weiner was engaged in inappropriate exchanges with them.
Yeah, look: A 46 year old dude should not be acting like a contemporary of young girls, cursing with them, talking about the crushes they have on him, etc. He should be keeping the line between adult and minor very strong, not fuzzing it up.
Actually, he shouldn't be talking to these girls privately at all, but he definitely shouldn't be getting flirty and familiar with them.
Below, the death threat I got tonight.
Pardon the language below. I cursed some.
I got an email from "alicia_Pain18@yahoo.com." Patterico got the same email. But I kept talking.
Patterico has the headers if you want to check those.
The original email came in red font. I've kept red font for all of alicia_pain18@yahoo.com's emails, even though only the first one was in that font color, just to keep the exchange straight.

I don't know. Some folks out there are mentally ill. Just by taking a step like this they are showing they are reckless and want to seriously scare someone. JeffG, whom I'm not exactly buddies with, really was put through the ringer by one of these monsters. Even though you want to laugh it off, they can do a lot of damage. For example, what if they learn who Ace's family is and start contacting them with messages like this? (I think Ace is anonymous, but I don't know if that's completely the case).
Better to take it damn seriously, not only for the lulz when they are exposed and publicly known for what they did, but to chill these nuts in the future.

I hate to chime in on the subject, but it seems we as a nation have lost almost any sense of decency towards each other. Why just today we had a customer of about mid/late 40's who scribbled his name, phone number, and sort of a "wink,wink" message. He passed the note to one of our older employees and asked her to hand it to the 19 year old daughter of the business owner. Who does that? Ace is right to point out that sometimes people need to take stock before they act on their thoughts/urges. Its not always easy because we think and feel urges that we are better off just keeping our mouth shut about. This customer knew it was wrong on some level because he chose to write a note, but he went ahead anyway knowing it was still socially frowned upon.
Would you let that customer return to your store if you were the business owner/ dad of the 19 year old girl? Would you really let Weiner remain in office? Sadly, not enough people seem to give a care and its very telling of our society being in decline. We all have these kind of addictions, escapes, etc so we need to do better in helping each other rather than shutting down all discussio.; Ace's commentary is relevant in so many ways.

Not really. Each sentence makes an assertion, and all serve some purpose in driving the letter forward (i.e., no random asides). It looks like a poor imitation of a lawyer's writing. Particularly the closing: "Thank you for your cooperation and your understanding. Yours Truly" -- that's lawyer boilerplate.
So my money is on Alicia being a paralegal. But if anyone is taking bets, I want good odds, since these people are usually teachers or computer lab dorks.

Rod it seems that two of the girls were not using their real names. I'm not sure about the third. I also think it's not proven underage girls didn't exist just because some IDs were fake. Implausible as it may seem. Which is very in one case.

The wording is weird. Poor punctuation. That first email with the short sentences.. kinda clipped.
By the third email, I think Ace got to him.. He's writing in paragraphs now.
