— Ace 1. A low-paid staffer, who will soon go on to a prize posting in the Obama Administration, after the media furor dies down, did it as a big goof, and I was protecting him, because I'm that much of a hero
2. I was Tweeting it to my wife, whom I love so very much; how dare you intrude into the sanctity of a marriage
I like 1.
Lee Stranahan Talks WeinerGate on Cam & Company Show: Just about right now. It's on Sirius/XM Patriot 125, but you can also watch live at that link. Over Now.
Come On, Now It's Too Much: The Weiner wedding officiated by... oh, it's too much.
More: At McCain's, Jeffrey Toobin of course was dismissive of the story. Plus lots of other stuff.
Apart from Dana Bash, CNN Still On Team Weiner: Quote: "in Weiner's defense...the person behind this is andrew breitbart who has made a practice of targeting democrats..." I don't know who said it; just picked it off Twitter.
Ah, I should have guessed. In fact, I did guess, but didn't want to go with a guess. TRScoop confirms it was Jeffrey Toobin.
Oh! How Could I Have Forgotten About Charles Johnson?! Um, that question answers itself, doesn't it?
How could I have forgotten about a nobody who was only relevant back when Britney Spears was still kinda hot?
So I'll cut myself some slack on this oversight perfectly functioning sight.
But if you want to know what Charles Johnson has been up to lately:
That's what he's been up to, stupid.
Yet Another Andrew Breitbart Smear Falls ApartFraudster is fraudulent
Charles Johnson
As soon as I heard about the “scandal” involving Rep. Anthony Weiner, and saw it being pushed like crazy by fraudster Andrew Breitbart, I knew it would turn out to be yet another phony story.
And thatÂ’s exactly what happened. If you havenÂ’t heard about the latest Breitbart scam, hereÂ’s a pretty good summary (but they should check the spelling of their headline): Brietbart to use SEX SMEAR on Rep. Anthony Weiner.
In a nutshell, someone apparently hacked into WeinerÂ’s Twitter and yfrog (a picture-hosting Twitter app) accounts, posted a lewd photo, then sent a screenshot of it to a student in Seattle. Wingnuts, of course, refuse to believe that Weiner didnÂ’t post it himself.
(Update: there was no hacking involved. The photo was never posted to WeinerÂ’s account. Someone may have photoshopped a screenshot of a yfrog page to make it look like it came from WeinerÂ’s page.)
(Update 2: the story changes again - apparently WeinerÂ’s yfrog account really was cracked, and the image was posted there.)
The New York Times has a report, and I have to ask: when will the media stop treating Andrew Breitbart like a legitimate “conservative” source? The article doesn’t even mention the numerous other frauds perpetrated by this right wing attack dog.
That's what I use updates for, too -- to become even more and more wrong and dumb.
When I don't think I'm stupid enough on the first try, I'll drop in a few bonus moron-updates to get even stupider.
Oh, I missed this. He's not finished being stupid in the post so he adds an extra stupid cherry on top with the postscript:
ALSO SEE:
BreitbartÂ’s #TwitterHoax - How It Went Down (updated w/ smoking gun)
And that link? Is to the Daily Kos.
Well, that about wraps him up, huh?
He had ya fooled for a while there, huh? You know, I've never really gotten around to asking LGF'ers what the hell the attraction there was.
I remember I used to be jealous of everyone wanting to be a Lizardroid or whatever. I was like, wow, this guy really commands respect.
Then I'd read his blog and... uh... ooohhhh.... let's just say the pixels successfully stuck to the screen.
Eh, I won't razz you guys. I used to like Star Wars, before The Great Suckening.

That's all "if," however. I don't think it will come to that. I still doubt that Weiner will get pressed any further on this until/unless further allegations surface. Something to "move the ball," if I may use a suddenly unfortunate turn of the phrase. (Hey, I like playing pessimist -- the upside-surprises are so wonderful that way.)
The funny thing is, Weiner could easily confess to this and get away with it, even to the point of salvaging his mayoral run in NYC. Nothing he did here is illegal, and the city already elected Giuliani in the midst of the whole Judy Nathan affair. It's not like it's anything new for you assholes.
I am loving seeing him wriggle right now, however. I'm spinning out fantasies of aggressive questioning from the MSM along the lines of CNN today. But they're just that -- fantasies.

This is technically possible. Can't remember where it was posted, but a tweet with too many characters or something can get "cut in half" so that depending on what device you sent it from, the Twitter server reads the first half as "DM" and then gets the rest of the header info as "normal broadcast tweet." I'm gonna lay down a marker, and predict that Weiner resigns next Monday. I was gonna say by Friday night, but I think he'll stubbornly refuse to fall on his sword until next weekend has come and gone, if only to prove he wasn't forced out on someone else's terms.
Why will he resign? Because of his integrity? HAHAAHAHA! Because he would get kicked out of Congress? HAHAHAHAAHA! Because his voters won't stand for this? HAHAAHAHAHA!
The guy's a democrat. They can commit actual crimes and still get and keep their jobs, and he hasn't exactly committed a crime. Dems will not kick him out of office. Barney Frank had a boyfriend running a prostitution ring out of his home. And if you remember the whole Mark Foley affair there was mention of the Democrat that was busted actually having sex with pages, and the Dems gave that guy a standing ovation at one point during the aftermath.

So WTF is Charles Johnson doing doubling down on stupid? What happens if Weiner is forced to apologize or (more likely at this point) "shift" his story to something along the lines of "yeah a staffer punked me"? How's he going to back-and-fill?

I'm gonna combine 2 comments I just said about chuckles on the ONT.
Don't forget every hit you give him actually counts as 9 on his little counters.
That was linked on the sidebar a couple weeks back. It had a youtube video of a guy showing the page and going to an old post with very few hits, and showing how fast it got to 100. It only took a few clicks and it jumped up by 9 each time.

But he really thinks Breitbart 'did' this? Help me understand chucky.
Even Toobin thinks this? And he's supposedly "smart" by getting fancy degrees and stuff. uhhh I think we all, as a society need to re-think what 'smart' is.... and FAST.
I've read Breitbarts book and It was one of the more entertaining political books i've read in years. Its obvious he's an insightful and intelligent person. His transformation reminds me exactly of my own and probably just about everyone who matures. From left winger in college and a few years after, to conservative when I learned many life lessons as I grew up. Highly recommended.
With that said, I don't believe for a second that Breitbart would put his reputation on the line to 'hack' Weiners account. It doesn't make sense how or why he could do it. Its a fantasy. The bizzare fascination with the sherrod case is crazy too. In his book he says there is much more to come out, but he's being sued by her at the moment. For all of us that saw the entire thing, sherrods story wasn't all puppies and kittens. She's and her husband are BAD people. terrible. The entire text of her speech should be read. not just the sound bite the media used to crucify breitbart. I'm not sure why he folded so fast. He may have understood the media had him with that soundbite. he goes deep into the media complex and how it works in his book. He must have made a decision to fold for now, and come back later. Unfortunately the media is still using the sherrod thing to beat him over the head with. If they only knew (actually they do.. they're evil) Sherrods full story. hell, even the NAACP knew she was a bad person.. they threw her under the bus faster that Obama would. jeez

For me, it was the fearless, utterly un-PC way he used to mock the Palestinians. He'd have the weekly Car Swarm photo after the Israelis blew up another batch of terrorists, and the reader captions would be hilarious.
What turned me off was Iron Fist. That kind of smarmy, macho, sentimental alcoholism is impossible for me to take. He'd start talking about all the different ways he could kill you, telling the rare liberal troll "You don't wanna meet me in person, man. I can slice you with my big knife in less than a second. You'll be dead, man," and the regulars would swoon over him for being so butch. Purported women would tell him how much they wanted to fuck him, and everyone would say, "Get a room, you two! Haw!" like we were at a frat party all watching our buddy getting humping the stripper.
He had some vomitous trademark phrase he'd sign his posts with, something like "/dark, ominous laughter." LGF turned into this embarrassing Wal-Mart cheese factory, so I stopped going there. But at one time it was really worthwhile.

I went over there back when it was still hot and I appreciate the reporting on radical Islamist groups, and further reporting on radical Islamist groups, and even further reporting on radical Islamist groups, but after a while, I got the point--it's not necessary to continue harping on it and harping on it. The comments were hard to keep track of and weren't very remarkable either, though I have heard it was different in the early 2000s.

Well, no matter teh weiner will have to either come up with some far fetched excuse for how his account sent out a dicpic, or he'll have to ask for an investigation. For a man that tries so hard to tout how effin smart he is, he really screwed up by not answering the questions put to him by CNN. How can you not answer whether that pic is of your dick? If it's a prank or a hack, it can't be your dick, right? How hard is that to answer? That's where his biggest screw-up on this sordid mess happened, and there's no way in hell he doesn't know that, and it's for damn sure that his wife knows it.

Actually, I think he is trapped. If even one of the people on his twitter list is under 18, than he might be open to felony charges. People lie about stuff on the internet sometimes (God knows, we all do!). One minor getting that tweet, and it's way worse for him than just public humiliation. Do you think a staffer is going to take that risk. I think he has to keep his mouth shut unless and until he finds out for sure that everyone involved was a legal adult. It wasn't always that way - I remember that two years ago you could see someone's @ messages to other people even if you weren't following both. Then Twitter changed the setup so that you had to be following both. Supposedly this was to reduce the load on their servers and to avoid confusion when people only saw half of a conversation.

This is not a low grade crime either. This is potentially a national security concern... not because weiner has plans for the Abrams tank on his computer, but someone could blackmail him and get that sort of thing for his silence. I'm sure stranger things have happend. We never did find out the whole story behind clintons china tech giveaway.. Although it may have had something to do with the F1-17 parts from the one shot down over bosnia that we bombed... The chi-coms were storing them in their embassy for later reverse-engineering and it went boom. I'm sure not many know about that.
Sorry, you can't have that.. but take these secrets instead! Hilary - get this nice young man to sign for these papers... He loves getting the credit for breaking stories and will bury those that totally moved without him having any influence of them whatsoever. In a weird way, it almost enhances his influence further by doing so. If Drudge doesn't link it, it's not news. But I think Drudge is very Internet 1.0. And we're now in Internet 2.0. I stopped going to that site when he stated that creationism being taught in schools was a greater threat to America than radical, violent Islam and then declared a jihad (see what I did there?) on anyone who disagreed.
This. I used to go there in the post-9/11 days for the coverage of the radical jihadists. But now Jonzen has more or less switched sides on that, and Jawas and Pam Gellar have filled the void. Plus the whole jihad on Christianity in all its aspects, not just creationism-in-schools began around the same time, and that was a big turnoff. If I wanted to subject myself to that haranguing and hectoring, I'd watch MSNBC.
