Plague of Mind-Numbing Idiocy Moves North [JWF]
— Guest Blogger

Before we regale you with 13 minutes of of pious, sanctimonious drivel from Boston, we first must offer up what has to be the best of all protest signs we've seen from the filthy hippies in Manhattan. It's almost too clever that I'm thinking this guy is an AoS moron who's gone undercover.

Now Ace has kindly asked we refrain from excessive use colorful language, so let it be known I'm just quoting this guy:

SHIT IS FUCKED UP AND BULLSHIT
Now that really captures the essence of these protests better than anything I've witnessed thus far. Really says it all. It could become a mantra along the lines of, well, I shouldn't say it here, but it has something to do with the SCOAMF.

The Gothamist has a pictorial spread called "The Faces of Occupy Wall Street" so go there to check out more, including this endearing young lad who smugly declares "I'm here to foil the 1%, to ruin their plans." Judging by the kid's writing skills. the only plan I see being foiled is graduating from grammar school.

Always a nice touch seeing these lefty kooks using kids. They use kids for the children, I suppose.

As for those gathered in Boston, in one respect they at least speak using coherent English and are relatively articulate. They just have no idea what they're talking about. Then again it's Boston, so I guess that makes sense.

Video after the jump.

7 I saw video of one of these fine young people saying that he was tired of These Corporations influencing and subverting democracy by buying off politicians to get special treatment. The follow up question should have been, why are you not protesting outside the State House, where the whores who take corporate money in exchange for favors are.

Posted by: lurker delurked at October 02, 2011 03:16 PM (JbdnV) Because it's as much a pathology as an ideology. Also because "corporate influence on politics" isn't as much about the influence as it is about the corporations, or for that matter anything private sector. Even the so-called "more rational" everyday liberals fall into this trap, corruption only ever goes one way, just like everything else - to the benefit of the state.

So, after multiple attempts by Van Jones and others to create their own "tea party" type movemont, after Obama hit a dead-end politically, and coming up on an election year in which taxes and the "wealth gap" is the topic chosen by the Democratic party, I'm supposed to believe this is all home grown?

I don't buy it.  I don't have proof, but I think someone's behind the curtain.

And actually, I think that's great. Plague of idiocy is right.  Remember all the cringe-worthy moments from our tea party candidates?  Just wait till these guys get the political stage.

I was just over at Kos reading a post about how we, the 99% get nothing while the richest 1% get everything.  I noted that "everything" (earnings of the top 1%) adds up to about 938 billion dollars- not even enough to cover this year's deficit.  Crickets from the kossacks.

20 "I'm here to bring dry socks to the kids. And I'm too old for Radiohead or a rock concert or whatever," Bebe Delmonico said. Where was she biking from? "My place on the Upper East Side. I bike everywhere in the city."

If she lives on the UES, and isn't in rent control, then she's making 6 figures, or at least high 5 figures. She's got the full Cougar thing going on as well.

"It doesn't matter if Radiohead shows up or not...they'll go back to their cushy lives and we'll still be here," Brooklynite Jeremy Baptiste-Toussant tells us. "I don't care for their music anyway."

Free South Africa? Dude, welcome to the 21st Century. SA is free, Mandela is free, and the ANC has completely trashed the country. People of all colors are wishing that PW Botha was still in power.

The child in the picture has more wisdom than all the rest of the protesters. Nobody should be exempt from paying taxes. Everyone should have skin in the game. Nobody should receive more in tax refunds than what they paid into the system.

Cain's 9-9-9 plan is the smartest plan that anyone has come up with, and will immensely increase the revenue going into the federal coffers. I've said more than once that a national sales tax (not a VAT, one collected at the point of initial sale of an item) is a way to capture the money that is floating around in the grey and black markets. Criminals need to eat, buy cars, wear clothes, etc.

The Dems are no more thrilled with Dick Soetero than we are about our likely candidates, just as in 2008. If we win it may come down to a critical quantity of the Anybody But Barack vote.

Good for you, Stanley. Good for you.

89 These people sound like my boss. To my boss, Obama isn't liberal enough. What's the difference between these losers and the idiots who swarmed around the capital building in Madison, WI?

Stanley, Stanley, Stanley.  What you have displayed here today is what the Morons call "weapons-grade stupidity".   Just as every last swinging you-name-it on that video did.  You have no case.  You have no argument.  Who has been stealing what from the "99%"?  How?  Where?  When?  None of you have a clue.

Is it our fault that the silly bitch with the master's degree in Lesbian basket weaving, political "science", Interprative cave dwelling or whatever can't get a job?  I'll tell you why she can't.  She's an idiot.  Hell, Ms. Cave Bear has one of those useless frigging degrees, too (radio and TV communications, of all things).  But she's also pulling down a nice six-figure salary right now, because she grasped this little concept called..."marketable skills".  So she learned how to be a computer engineer and is doing very nicely, thank you very much.

Yes, Stanley.  Even if you did waste Mommy and Daddy's money during your college years getting a masters in Deaf-Red-headed-Lesbian-Shortstop-Mother History Studies with a minor in Gay Dickbeating, you actually can make a decent living if you bother to pick up some skills that someone is actually willing to pay you for.

Oh, one other thing.  If you can't find work in New York, Boston, Seattle or whatever other Marxist-controlled cesspool you are living in now, then MOVE, dipshit.  I hear they are begging for people up in North Dakota and Montana right now in the Bakken oil fields.  Why, I'll bet even that cupid stunt with the masters in nothing could find a job there.  Beats the hell out of sitting around whining in Boston...

94 SHIT IS FUCKED UP AND BULLSHIT

It's this kind of coherent well thought out sort of statements that proves the left is nothing but intellectuals. What a deep rational insight into the situation

98 "97 SHIT IS FUCKED UP AND BULLSHIT It's this kind of coherent well thought out sort of statements that proves the left is nothing but intellectuals. What a deep rational insight into the situation" Can't assume that guy's 'on the left'. First off, the line isn't his. I forget if I saw it first in the Onion, then on a skit with Jason Jones on the Daily Show, or the other way round. Plus I doubt even one of those came up with it first; it's the sort of line that tend to get published first as a cartoon in a not-mainstream newspaper or magazine, as what's called 'dry social commentary humor'- not 'organic humor' like signs that read GET A BRAIN MORAN. It's become a One Sign Fits All for movements at the unfocused Anger stage of social acceptance of loss. When I first saw it before was in spring 2009, aimed as commentary on the early-stage Tea Party that hit the streets during the STIM negotiations - months before the SCoaMF fired the first shot in the Battle of Obamacare, which got adopted by the Tea Partiers as something more defined to organize against. It's also a very apt sign for NYC in particular. Go to NYC any day, any year, you see protests. NYC is much about theater, protests being of the street variety - 'off Broadway' because the guy is physically standing somewhere off Broadway. If this guy got himself arrested on the Brooklyn Bridge, it wouldn't have been because he meant to risk being some minor league martyr; it'd have been because he miscalculated - set up his act too close to one of the types he parodies. It could be the Occupy Wall Street movement is now entering the stage equivalent to where the Tea Party movement was in just before it got handed the gift of Obamacare. This weekend some group claiming to be in OWS (That's right; have at it.) released a "manifesto", which is really a list of grievances. If you read it, you find most of the list, arguably all of it, is aimed at corporations. OWS is still short of even a single defined goal, and unlike the Tea Party, they can't count on the SCoaMF handing them any. To give the OWS it's due, if this "manifesto" gets widely adopted (It probably will, partly because there's no competition, partly because it seems pretty well designed to accommodate as many as possible, including unions - just not the guy with the sign.), that's the big step; going from a grievance list to closely identifying targets, drawing up action plans and organizing stunts aimed at targets, are all a lot easier and quicker to get to. Beyond the certainty that the first target will be corporate, it's impossible to predict with certainty which one, because most likely OWS will follow the pattern movements always follow: some corporation will get into the news headlines for doing something really big and ugly & it will essentially 'self-nominate' for the role. So this next part IS easy: right now, corporate executive offices all over the NYC business district are scrambling in desperation to avoid being made the Obamacare of the OWS movement. Paradoxically, that actually makes it MORE likely that one of them will fuck up real bad, and in turn more easy for Wall Street insiders to predict which of them are already so fucked up in management, they're just waiting to bowled over with a feather (Bank of America & Citigroup are two obvious possibilities.). And there's a second paradox - the one of Unintended Consequences: some shrewd and daring Wall Street insiders are about to go from rich to stupid rich from picking correctly. It won't necessarily mean more money goes from the government or the Fed or taxpayers to try and prop up the lucky winner (tho that probably WILL happen), but it will certainly mean that some rich folks are going to get richer off some other rich folks, which in turn means the pool of those in the upper 0.1% is about to get even more exclusive. I'm trying to figure out the identity of the 'lucky winner', because I could incur a huge loss if I happen to get caught holding a lot of its debt. I realize that's pretty conventional investor thinking right now, but the fact is, it's exactly this kind of conventional investor thinking that's bearing down on the market. What I'd MOST like to see OWS fizzle out before it finds its first target. I think it may well have fizzled already if the NYPD hadn't whipped out pepper spray, or made 700 discount martyrs on the Brooklyn Bridge. With those things having happened, betting it to fizzle out is a sucker's bet.

The stupid protesters would have us turn out like Greece.

The stupid politicians wrote laws that caused us to lose money, jobs, and standard of living.

Greedy bankers, unions and various paper pushers helped cause an epic meltdown.  It's one thing to turn a profit, that's what being in business is all about.  But pure greed at the expense of your country and its people is a whole other thing.

A pox on all their houses.
