Politico: Even Democrats Fear That Obama Has Become a SCOAMF
— Ace

Not pictured: 44% of America now racist, straight up

Schadenboner:

“He has sort of lost the sense of power and mystique of the presidency,” says longtime Obama ally Andy Stern, former president of the powerful Service Employees International Union. “There’s also a sense that people aren’t scared of him. That’s very dangerous.”

...

“He’s allowed the Congress to manhandle him, said one top Democratic ally of Obama’s. “Every time he’s put his foot down they’ve kicked him in the shin. It’s goddamn embarrassing. He’s losing power. He needs to grab it back.”

Political power isn't just something you switch on, like electricity. It comes from good results, and pleasing the public.

Obama has no good results (except a dead OBL, and some other dead high-ranking terrorists), and gave the public the finger when they pleased with him to not pass ObamaCare.

Just "getting tougher" and all this other nonsense misdiagnoses the problem.

Obama's not just weak because he's acting weak. He does do some of that; he's not the world's steeliest man, of course.

But he's weak because he's a complete and utter failure. And until he actually succeeds at something, he'll continue being weak.

10 Let's check assumptions. What is he actually failing at? He passed Obamacare. True, he has no idea what's in it. But I assume that the person who wrote the bill told Pelosi and Obama that it's like a super way to bring about euro style socialism/welfare statism. He's destroying the fuck out of the private sector, so much so that they can't compete with government run entities. Here in DC, there's an ad from NASA savings bank to refinance your car with them. I think that they're being subsidized. Just one example, there're others. For some reason, we invaded Libya, but who cares? Surely not all those leftist retards in DC who drive around with retarded leftist anti-war bumper stickers. I think I just wasted some electrons to say, Obama's succeeding, it's just that we don't appreciate it enough to be saying thanks. I just wonder if Obama thought that doing these things would, um, be good for America or if he didn't care.

33 Barack Obama is a stuttering clusterf*ck of a miserable failure.

He passed Obamacare. - Pyrrhic victory at best.  Probably actually counts as a "failure" because of all the promises he made to get it passed that were all immediately shown to be lies.

He's destroying ... the private sector - Even a hard-core leftist like Obama knows he needs the private sector.  He was attempting to set up a more efficient way of fleecing the sheep, not killing it.

The others you mention aren't really successes or failures either way.

But let's look at foreign policy-
He promised us more respect abroad: how's that working out?
He promised us peace in the middle east: how's that working out?

35 Sensing that Barry might be approaching a difficult election Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley stands up for the right for non-citizens and nonresidents of the Commonwealth to vote Democrat, preferable often and early.

"The state Attorney General's office said today a proposed referendum on requiring government-issued IDs to vote in Massachusetts is unconstitutional because it "infringes on freedom of elections."

Currently, Massachusetts voters facing a residency challenge can present a current utility bill or paycheck stub. The proposal by Mansfield Selectman Olivier Kozlowski, would have required people showing up to vote to show a driver's license, passport or government-issued ID card. Last month, the Attelboro Sun-Chronicle talked to Kozlowski:Kozlowski said he was not aware of any specific voter fraud problems in Massachusetts, but worries that the system now is vulnerable."Every election you hear stories," said Kozlowski, a Republican.

The AG's office said other proposed measures - which will require backers to collect at least 69,000 signatures by December would be constitutional, including measures to require charitable organizations to comply with certain do-not-call restrictions, let supermarkets sell wine, allow the "humanitarian" use of marijuana and repeal the current requirement that Massachusetts resident buy health insurance."

I gather the gist of what he's trying to say by the "people aren't scared of him" comment (if I'm being charitable), is that his enemies don't fear him.

What I actually hear is, "How can we get those peons to tremble at the sight of their glorious god-king again?  They're getting rather uppity."

Even better, he out-smarted himself (not hard) when he went to the public before Boehner had a chance to send the formal invitation.

I think that, if we can get Boehner to see every confrontation with the President as a pissing match, we might actually get some reliable conservatism from him.  He so would have caved (because: comity) if Obama had just waited until later to make that statement.

Now, as you say, Obama has to give an over-hyped speech that no one cares about just before the much awaited (because of the lock-out) start of the NFL regular season.

So this must mean that Demotards are Dick's enemies? Because Dick is a Demotard too. Oh, the integrative complexity!

122  "Your Majesty," the prime minister said, "we have a request for you. The people have found out about this extraordinary fabric and they are anxious to see you in your new suit." The Emperor was doubtful showing himself naked to the people, but then he abandoned his fears. After all, no one would know about it except the ignorant and the incompetent.

"All right," he said. "I will grant the people this privilege." He summoned his carriage and the ceremonial parade was formed. A group of dignitaries walked at the very front of the procession and anxiously scrutinized the faces of the people in the street. All the people had gathered in the main square, pushing and shoving to get a better look. An applause welcomed the regal procession. Everyone wanted to know how stupid or incompetent his or her neighbor was but, as the Emperor passed, a strange murmur rose from the crowd.

Everyone said, loud enough for the others to hear: "Look at the Emperor's new clothes. They're beautiful!"

"What a marvellous train!"

"And the colors! The colors of that beautiful fabric! I have never seen anything like it in my life!" They all tried to conceal their disappointment at not being able to see the clothes, and since nobody was willing to admit his own stupidity and incompetence, they all behaved as the two scoundrels had predicted.

A child, however, who had no important job and could only see things as his eyes showed them to him, went up to the carriage.

"The Emperor is naked," he said.

"Fool!" his father reprimanded, running after him. "Don't talk nonsense!" He grabbed his child and took him away. But the boy's remark, which had been heard by the bystanders, was repeated over and over again until everyone cried:

"The boy is right! The Emperor is naked! It's true!"

The Emperor realized that the people were right but could not admit to that. He though it better to continue the procession under the illusion that anyone who couldn't see his clothes was either stupid or incompetent. And he stood stiffly on his carriage, while behind him a page held his imaginary mantle.

135 From the article: To Obama, this speech is anything but a joke. ObamaÂ’s advisers, wary of leaks and preemptive attacks, havenÂ’t been sharing details of the proposals he will make with members of Congress in either party. But sources tell POLITICO he is considering some new approaches, including the possibility of drafting his proposals as an actual bill, something he hasnÂ’t done much in the past. And the White House seems genuinely eager for fresh ideas, with aides laying out the framework of his speech to columnists on Tuesday in the Roosevelt Room, and then to a gathering of top Democratic strategists that included former Clinton chief of staff John Podesta, former Clinton press secretary Joe Lockhart, super-lobbyist and former Dick Gephardt aide Steve Elmendorf and Porter Novelli executive Kiki McLean. ******* That's why the Republicans are not doing a rebuttal. They have no chance at guessing what the hell will be in the speech and then responding to the monstrosity within 20 minutes. But of course nancy Pelosi gets to tell everyone the republicans are being "disrespectful". Second-see that they are letting the *columnist* set policy or whatever. Holy cripes have you read a Kronicle of Krugman-lately? We are truly boufed.

180 162 Yeah Obama scares me...Right. I watched a video this morning of George Bush throwing out the 1st pitch at the Yankee game after 911. The man stood on the pitchers mound and threw a perfect strike right over the plate. Contrast that to Barry standing half way to home plate in his mom jeans bouncing the ball in the dirt. Well,. I guess this doesn't have that much to do with this thread except metaphorically speaking, Obama is weak in everything he does.... Yes, they are disappointed in him.. and, yes, they are all flailing about because none of them has any idea what to do about the economy and jobs... and disappointed Obama's big stimulus wasn't big enough and now they lost the House and cannot do anything more..

But.. they are not giving up.. and although there is talk of primarying him, that will never happen.

Here's what worries me.. a cornered animal is the most dangerous.. these fucks in the White House are not going to give up their cushy jobs easily.  Things will get really nasty over the next year.. really really nasty.

And, I fully expect these assholes to put somebody up to running as a third party candidate.. probably Huntsman.

"once you go mac you never go back"

208 "Your Majesty," the prime minister said, "we have a request for you.

It's true! And he's a SCoaMF!"

The Emperor realized that the people were right but could not admit to that. He though it better to continue the procession under the illusion that anyone who couldn't see his clothes was either stupid or incompetent. And he stood stiffly on his carriage, while behind him a page held his imaginary mantle.

If you have a copy of Windows you can either make a Boot Camp partition and run Windows in it or use an application like VMWare Fusion to run Windows in a virtual machine. I've done both and it works pretty well. Macs are better machines and better made, IMHO; I rue the day I gave up my Mac.

The Politico article Ace refers to includes a quote from a Maureen Down column over the weekend:

Obama is still suffering from the Speech Illusion, the idea that he can come down from the mountain, read from a Teleprompter, cast a magic spell with his words and climb back up the mountain, while we scurry around and do what he proclaimed.

Dowd goes on to close her article with this zinger:

Maybe Obama was not even the person he was waiting for.

Look, Big Boy Politicians don't care if they hate you.   You don't care if they vilify you.   You don't care if they disagree with everything you say.   But when they start laughing at you... that's when a politician has truly lost power.   People are starting to laugh at Obama, to not take him seriously, even people who like Dowd were his most sycophantic supporters.   Not sure how he digs out from that and, of course, he deserves all the ridicule, and then some.

Hey, with his fellow Big Labor commissar Mr. Hoffa screaming about "taking out those Tea Party sons of bitches," and "going to war," what other logical conclusion is there to be drawn?

288 Hey, 70 Foole In The Rain, loved the SCoaMF of Steel! The honorable Mrs Webworker sent me this (3pm CDST, almost an hour before Ace's post — heh) quoting Michael Barone at NRO: "Democrats have criticized Obama on the speech-scheduling flap. James Carville said he was “out of bounds.” Salon.comÂ’s Cenk Uygur sensed “the audacity of weakness.” It reminds me of a phrase describing a character in the 1980s TV series Dallas — “blustering, opportunistic, craven and hopelessly ineffective all at once.” Is that last a nice way of saying SCOAMF? Yeah, I'd say, pretty close, wouldn't you?

Posted by: A Mindful Webworker at September 07, 2011 02:37 PM (W6lga)

289 Before the fall brings us down, before the election season begins in earnest with all its nastiness and vulgarity, ... can we just enjoy Obama for a moment? Before the policy choices have to be weighed and the hard decisions have to be made, can we just take a month or two to contemplate him the way we might contemplate a painting by Vermeer ... or any other astounding, ecstatic human achievement? Because twenty years from now, we're going to look back on this time as a glorious idyll in American politics, with a confident, intelligent, fascinating president riding the surge of his prodigious talents from triumph to triumph. Whatever happens this fall or next, the summer of 2011 is the summer of Obama. It Never Gets Old.

it likely is and you know what's funny it is because he pulled a bait and switch...or rather his sycophants did.....

if barry getting elected was 'historic" and "healing" then maybe just maybe we should have been able to treat him like a normal President with normal expectations of conflict, gridlock, failure, respect, demonization etc etc etc

instead of putting the Race Card to bed his sycophants xeroxed it so that even when his crossover enablers started to peel off and dislike his direction it got thrown.....

I think barack has Axelrod doing non rigged polling that shows him at 26-31%...
