— Ace We don't see any declarations that red seats are suddenly in jeopardy.
When PPP polled the state in March, shortly after Lingle's second term as Governor ended, only 41% of voters in the state had a favorable opinion of her to 51% with a negative one. Those poor numbers had her running 17 points behind Ed Case and 12 points behind Mazie Hirono in hypothetical head to head match ups.The passage of time appears to have done Lingle some good though. Her favorability is up 5 points to 46% while her negatives have dropped 8 points to 43%. And with that improvement in her image has come an improvement in her standing against her potential opponents. She now trails Hirono by just 6 points at 48-42, and she actually leads Case by 2 points at 45-43.

Didn't we heard that Hawaii was in play in '08, and then, no, it totally wasn't? Or am I hallucinating again? I'm probably hallucinating. That's what the voices tell me, anyway. Especially the rabbit one.
Anyway, it's a good sign that something's happening, and if we can make their states competitive (even if we lose them), that only helps us with the standard battleground states.

Literally, seeing as how their polls close like three hours after we'll know the outcome of the presidential race.

Hawaii? It's in the bag! We have it all taken care of. We're selling coffee mugs with President Obama's Birth Certificate on it. They are selling like hotcakes. Not to worry.
Any Republicans who show up in Hawaii have obviously been ASStroturfed in. This is one state we aren't going to worry about.

Hmm, another Senate seat that may go red in '012, huh?
I may yet get my wish: even if the SCOAMF is re-elected, we could have a veto-proof, red Congress. Then he'd have to watch for four years as his regime is deconstructed before his eyes and every one of his Cabinet members are brought before Congressional investigative comittee after Congressional investigative committee, all his nominations for everything are blocked, the EPA is abolished, and a few other things I haven't even thought of yet.
I'll be in my bunk...

Especially if the Republican Senate can play by the current Democrat Senate's rules. Mmm, sweet savory revenge. If it's cold, you can put ice cream on it, and if it's hot, you can make barbeque or a sandwich or something.

Looking out at a sea of military personnel in battle fatigues, Mr. Obama admitted, "I hate following Michelle. She's so good."
To the laughter of the service people he added, "See for you men out there who are not yet married, let me explain. The whole goal is to marry up--to try to improve your gene pool."

Obama will go to the USS Arizona Memorial and apologize to the Japanese.
There was a misunderstanding that you Japanese felt could only be adequately addressed with a kinetic military operation. Our navy was there at Pearl Harbor that Sunday morning trained only to kill people and break things. When they saw your planes, their first reaction was to do as they had been trained without once considering the justice of your concerns nor the race problem. Thus it was that we started WWII with an ugly racial incident and firepower when we should have just listened.

OT from the Corner, Obama glafnading in riedsville N.C.
To one man, Obama said: “Now, you ate all your vegetables before you had dessert,” noting his wife’s focus on healthy eating.
He greeted another couple, one of whom is an outgoing Reidsville City Council member. They told the president how long theyÂ’d been married.
“Michelle and I have been married 19 – We’ve got 44 to go to catch up with you.”
Leaving the restaurant, the president worked a rope line.
“You’ve got to work hard,” he said to one pair of community college students.
One woman handed Obama a phone, telling him that her grandmother was on the line. “Hey grandma — boy this is an old style phone … I appreciate you.”
I could write an essay on his rpetension but I think I'll just limit myself to saying what a dick.

CA is the most deceiving racist state, you think you are in a nice neighborhood and low and behold your in the midst of the Crips and Bloods. 271 When I move to maui I'm not going there to make friends I'm going there to swim fish and look at the ocean everyday for the rest of my weary life the Locals are assholes
Side note - I did find Helo Hawaii very inviting. It was like a small southern town. The locals there had the true aloha spirit. Just like down south. Just sayin. And the big island is big. That counts for something after the first year.

OT from the it would be funny if it weren't so tragic department (by way of Hot Air). Iranian media address the OWS crowd:
Occupy Wall Street protesters condemned the Zionist lobbies and communities living in the US as well as the Zionist regime of Israel for the economic inequality and crisis in the United States, saying that their country is falling apart for the sake of Israel.
Despite tight censorship by the western media, intense anti-Israel and anti-Zionist tendencies are reported from Occupy Wall Street protest demonstrations against the US administrationÂ’s cruel economic, financial and political policies and practice.
"Despite tight censorship by the western media," yeah, you can say that again. You've got to go to Iranian media to get the truth about the OWS crowd.

There are a lot of stupid and/or evil cops.
They enforce an increasing multitude of often evil and anti-freedom laws. Often only stupid people or jackasses can be attracted to the position of being a cop.

Thanks Phoenix Girl, didn't mean to be a downer but what happened to my brother on Maui was really like something out of a crappy movie where the bad guy gets off scott free with the help of corrupt cops. Sort of like The SCFOAMF.

He has almost abandoned practical politics in the last month. As in practical, I mean actually winning elections and such. I think he is sold that we are going down no matter what we try at this point, and so I don't think Beck cares enough about this race to back anyone.

No, I think they have been so hopelessly, and permanently indoctrinated into socialism and communism that they would be better off on their own. I know there are some good people there but they are in a small minority and I hope they would have the good sense to leave when the hints started coming.
Sooner or later the big split is going to come, probably along with the great collapse, but if happens that way it will not matter. There will be a "great die off" to go with it.

Wife and I have been to Jamaica many times and have occasionally stayed at places with nude beaches. We always tell ourselves, okay, this time we're gonna go to the nude beach and hang out. Everytime we try, we just can't seem to.....well, be comfortable with the whole thing. I'm sure it's just my western-civ, anglo, repressed nature that is preventing me letting it all hang out. Or maybe the octogenarian German ladies that are always there. Posted by: Dave

My brother is a policeman. He is in the National Guard and wanted to go for his long-time dream of getting into the Special Forces, but realized that his wife didn't cope well with they idea of him doing very dangerous things. Being a policeman allows him to fulfill the sheepdog in him while not putting his wife through the wringer all the time.

It's not a "New England" state, it's a NE (Northeast) state. Same as PA and NJ. Anything between the Appalachians and the eastern seaboard north of the Mason-Dixon Line is a NE liberal state. Even PA, which at least half of is west of the Appalachians, is a NE liberal state.Posted by: Ed Anger at October 19, 2011 01:45 PM (7+pP9)

Uh...no. Why do people always think, every election, THIS is the year that the GOP can win HI and MI? Both states are hardwired Democratic. Ain't go go the other way. It might be a narrower gap than usual, but close only counts with horseshoes and you know whats.
MI is doable. HI, MA, and PA not so much. Detroit doesn't have the punch it once did on statewide elections. Just sayin. A more interesting question is NM. Can they turn that one given the shit sandwich the Dems left the state with.
Well, I hope you're right, but I doubt it. I actually think PA is just as likely or more so than MI. Hadn't thought much about NM, but I suspect it's doable. It's usually a fairly close spread there and shouldn't take too much discontent to swing it the other way.

#304: "Joe Biden just told a class of 4th graders that if Obama's jobs bill is not passed their teacher will be fired and replaced with brain eating worms that will crawl into their ears while they sleep at night."
His original plan was to force himself on the fourth grade teacher in the presence of said kids while shouting "this is what will happen to your mothers if the Senate doesn't open debate on the jobs bill tomorrow," so, yay civility!
