PSA
— Monty

This is just a notice to the Moron Horde that I'm going on an internet-free vacation for the next few weeks. This means no DOOM or Sunday Book Threads for awhile. I'm sure the DOOM will still be there when I get back. (Unless the Rapture really does come before then -- in which case, well, problem solved.)

Anyhow, have a great (and safe) Memorial Day weekend.

46 The Obama "reset" snubbing of Poland seems to stem from the Obamas making everything always out to be about the Obamas, including the "meaning" of an old saying though specifically applied to international relations. As if Michelle could ever stop outdoing herself.

It seems that it wasn't really a joke, but a badly translated Polish saying. Komorowski wanted to say something like this: "You see, Mr President, the USA and Poland relations are like a marriage. You should trust your wife, but you should also check whether she is faithful." Apparently, there was a moment of misunderstanding whether Komorowski referred specifically to Obama's wife or to a wife in some marriage (he meant the latter). Marcin ...I think the Polish politician was saying that America isn't living up to it's side of the bargain with Poland which is sad because Poland has been a faithful and constant ally for about 20 years now. They are one of our best friends on Europe and they deserved better, more respectful treatment. But this follows Obama's pattern of showing disrespect towards our allies and bowing before our enemies. I think it might be a psychological issue for president Obama.

101 Is the information about the prez's real estate deals out there and all the papers out there?  Don't know much about it.

102 We used to go to a crappy (but cheap) Mexican place in Alameda. Good hangover remedies.

We used to hit a Mexican place over in Hayward after I moved to Castro Valley. The menus were actually in Spanish only.

103 Interestingly, the original Sambo's is the only one still open......in leftist-infested Santa Barbara.

Well what-a-ya-know. I thought they had all gone under long ago.

104 Ok after reading the zero hedge story gnubreed --ZH are really reaching using Palin's name to talk about short sale fraud. Yes the price change was a bit eye popping but Whitmore had that property for 14 months and probably had plenty of rehabilitation to do if the first owners had to let it go. ZeroHedge stretched the bounds of what could be short sale fraud to bump up hits to their article with Palin's name. And its no doubt working fantastically for them.

106 Posted by: PaleRider at May 26, 2011 10:43 AM (cQZV0)

where do you get 14 months?  Date of sale is 3/10 and the article says "Let's recall the math on Ms. Palin's purchase: Whitmore buys the short sale from JPMorgan in March 2010 for $805,000. He then flips it just about one year later to Ms. Palin for... $1,750,000. A profit of 118%."

Actually, the video attached to the article shows the original house.  He had to add appliances and I think the elevator and sinks and such but no one is saying who did the pool, whether he did it or the palins did it.  It was in great condition when he bought it.  If you look at the palin house pics I linked it's in more opulent condition now but rumor has it that Sarah's decorators did that for her family, that she didn't buy it like that.

The article about short sale fraud came out last night.  I think he had all the stuff on the Palin sale and was sitting on it cause he didn't know quite how to present it without it appearing he had an opinion one way or another.   I guess when the realty trac article came out, a light bulb went off in his head that let him connect the two things.   If anything, a Palin article, on Zero Hedge isn't a traffic grabber if that's what you are thinking.

Well what-a-ya-know. I thought they had all gone under long ago.

A common mistake, they don't even advertise locally. They're right on the beach so I think they depend largely on foot traffic. They keep the turbaned Sambo character VERY low-key. The only place I remember it is in the pattern on the wallpaper.

Food's just.....meh. Frankly I'd rather eat at Denny's.

Are there any Stucky's still in business?

Just last summer I stopped at one off of I-40 near Asheville, NC.

Speaking of which, the sickest I have ever gotten in a car was years ago driving through Virginia from Greensboro, NC on the way to Pennsylvania; my grandparents stopped at a Stuckey's to gas up, and bought my brother and I a large pecan log. We ate the whole thing on the drive. I was never so glad to get out of a car in my life!

112 Here is what concerns me.  I was a big Palin fan, you can go look at my posts.  But then this RAMansour stuff came out and I started digging into that stuff.  And then this article on Zero Hedge.  The disturbing thing is that having Sarah in the race might diminish all the other republican candidates, sort of take all the air out of the room, put the focus on Sarah and take the focus off everyone else,, including the pres. Even when Sarah wants the focus on the prez it will be on her.  I say this cause I've been a zero hedge reader for years.  With this article Tyler did what Tyler always does.  But, with the attachment of Sarah Palin, his site has been bombarded with nasty troll like characters deriding him and sticking up for Sarah Palin.  I didn't like these paid folks when BO and axelrod did it and I'm not changing my mind just cause Sarah Palin is now possibly employing these tactics.  So, if this is her new media saavy out of the box presidential campaign, along with paying to have her content displayed prominently on people's sites and avoiding all media interviews and talking directly to the people, she's lost someone she had cause I don't like the tactics.   I mean sheesh these folks are just vicious and overbearing and insistent.  Kinda of like some of the posts on the Palin threads here.   Sure you might get your message across but, after a while, people aren't going to want to read what the supporters have to say, they are going to move along and pick someone else to support.

113 Monty, have a great, safe time!

I agree, tactics suck, yours chief among them.  Any proof to your assertion as to what SP is "possibly" doing?

This is just a notice to the Moron Horde that I'm going on an internet-free vacation for the next few weeks.

Ah, so you can't afford the cablemodem or DSL? or even a trip to Starbucks or your local equivalent?

117 Have a good time and see you when you return. Maybe Vic and I will hijack a sunday AM thread in your honor and have a Civil War flame party.

118 If you must, but you should know that I will develop a positively sunny outlook without the daily dose of DOOM. This imbalance will cause the world spin off its axis and possibly render any future DOOM reports to be insignificant and/or moot.

Unwind and have a good time.  You can count on us to wind you back up.  If it doesn't rain, we'll even mow the lawn.  Too bad it's going to rain.
