"Puppet Show and Barack Obama"
— Ace

BCarr on twitter gives this sad picture that title, referencing the scene in Spinal Tap where they're reduced to playing at Six Flags type venues, and furthermore, receive second-billing to a puppet-show.

To be fair, that picture on the right is deceptive.

The first one was held in the mellon arena which holds 17,000 people, the other was held at the local IBEW headquarters which only holds a few hundred people.

Also the picture on the right was taken after most of the people had left. The room was in fact full during his little speech.

However, regardless of the misleading nature of the photos, there is an interesting story behind them.

The one on the left is filled up with average votes, the one on the right is filled up with hardcore unionmen.

It's telling that Obama only feels safe going into areas where his most die hard supporters are.

The "Occupy xx" protests are just a couple dozens leftist looneys in each town.  The press is a few hundred leftist nutcases.  There aren't that many of them.

Obama reminds me of the character played by Charles Grodin in the original version of The Heartbreak Kid back in the early 1970s.   At the end of the movie, when he's finally married the shiksa goddess played by Cybill Shepherd, he's at their wedding reception and the scene starts off with him telling a group of adults what he wants to do with his life.   He wants to "help people," or words to that effect, typical content-free, skills-free liberal do-gooderism.   Over the course of the wedding reception (this is the final scene of the movie), he keeps repeating this mantra to gradually descending groups of people, until, at the end of the movie, he's telling his story of wanting to "help people" to a group of children, with the implication that they are the only ones left who'll take him seriously.   Meanwhile, Shepherd and her father look at him with the dawning realization that he's a schlub.   It's an absolutely killer scene in a movie that was much much better than the later, Ben Stiller version.

6 ......I think Rick Perry's back pain is hurting his debate performances, besides his own admission that he's not very good at them.

Could be, Irene. .....It's a shame that so many people put so much stock in debate performance.

When I was in school....I remember the guys on the debate team as being loudmouth types that I never had the desire to go out with.

Watching that thing last night, it reminded me of one of those scenes from an organized Hunt....organized by some rich city guys who wanted to show off all their expensive gear that they'd only used once or twice.......

Romney was the filthy rich guy who had everything that money could buy, from Cabelas or Bass Pro Shop. ....The guy who was bankrolling the Hunt. ....Cain, Huntsman, Bachman and Santorum....those were people who worked in corporate world and were there as yes-men for the Filthy Rich Guy.

Gingrich and Ron Paul were invited for their wit and good stories....not for their prowess at hunting.

Perry was the guy who was the seasoned hunter.....the guy who knew how to actually bag a monster prey, because he's been doing it for a long time. He's not rich, but has good gear that he's accumulated over the years and has taken good care of it. ....Perry was the guy who was sitting back, listening to them all.....waiting for the real Hunt to start.

I blame social networking (Facebook, Youtube, etc) websites that feed on the narcissism of young people.  Posting a video online is so natural to them, these fucksticks don't even realize just how much trouble they're in.  And like I told my wife, once you post something on the internet it's forever.  Then I told her to stop bothering me about the pics of her I posted a while back.

So going by their past track records alone here is my list: 1st draft -Perry 2nd draft -Romney -Cain 3rd draft nobody else who is running Romney has run a great campaign this time and his debates are wayyyyy better then they were in 08. Unlike in 08 his more nuanced and moderate ideological stands don't sound as obviously false as his more social conservative then Huckabee tactic in 08 did. You know who else was lionized for running a great campaign and had a nice pants crease?

Jesus, this reads like a Palinbot that has been forced to transfer her mindless obsession to a new host. Perry looked like the opposite of a cagey old hunter. He looked like the new guy that badgered someone into taking him hunting but then decided he'd rather sleep in the pickup because, you know, it's too early and it's cold and my back hurts and there's probably nothing out there anyway.

He might have a good track record, but so far he hasn't come across as much of a leader. His lack of energy and clarity is striking when compared to Romney and Cain. He's the second coming of Fred, but with less pep.

Actually...I know a couple of cagey old hunters and that sounds exactly like something they would do....sleep in the pickup and be doubtful if the prey was anywhere close to the site that the city guys had chosen.
