— CAC The Purity Sleuths are at it again. Ace touched on it earlier that DeMint is under attack for defending Romney.
Such a deep line of thinking by the All Caps Brigade (thanks, Miss80sBaby) has not gone without recognition, and using the most advanced neuromological imaging we are just now discovering their supreme knowledge. It took weeks of scanning dozens of brains of the ACB, but a common image kept popping up when a .000001% deviation in orthodoxy was suspected by the test subjects.
That image is here. Warning, it is very, very detailed and may blow your minds, but it really provides an insight into the depth of thinking the ACB possesses:

Spread your arms and embrace the beast. Take a step toward him and squat down toward the earth. Since the rino is not carnivorous, he's acutely aware of the predatory nature of you and his immediate surroundings and will either pull out or commit to a full charge. Proximity is key.
If he gets too uppity, give him a nonfatal blast to the face, slap him on the ass, and say, "You're days are numbered pal, give it up, don't fucking toy with me, or you're out, you're walking the bread line, your history, pal!
Take no prisoners.

Purge! Weed out those RINOS from every rock and crack they hide in. Withhold votes from any who associate with them or tolerate them. Drive them from our midst at all costs.
And when Obama wins the WH in 2012 with the lowest vote total in history, he can proudly march back in the oval office, proclaim "I won" again, and put us formly on that downhill glide path toward social democracy.. The media, those who pay no taxes, the bailout recipients, the big unions, all will cheer.
But us? We will be pure. And all those people who haven't yet realized what Obama represents will have four more years for it to soak in. They will finally understand and be one with us, and we will roll in 2016!

So, basically your average Manhattan attorney is just as competent as Fred Phelps. I mean, they're both attorneys - they both passed the bar.
It's puzzling why the corporate tax attorney outearns the ham-and-egger grinding out divorce cases, bankruptcies, personal injury beefs and wills. I mean, they're both attorneys - there shouldn't be an order of magnitude of difference in their salaries.

The way I see it, all the conservatives in Congress agree there is a looming economic crisis but they disagree on the solution and tactics. Do we deal with discretionary first or entitlements? How do we make cuts in a hostile political environment? Though even among this group there is a troubling lack of policy ideas to solve these problems.
We also have two sets within this group, namely those who are fighting for higher ACU ratings and the other comprised of people who want to climb the political ladder. They are always MIA when it comes to educating the public and taking sides until the political winds shift. In other words, they talk a good game but it's really all about them.

After that, all bets are off, and IMO, anyone who fails to haul ass and pull the lever for whomever is on the GOP ticket is letting 'the country' we all profess to love, down.
We have gotten so far off course in such a short time.
Dont think Obama can do massive damage in '12.
Look what he did now when he has to run for another term.
What do u think he will be like when he cant get re elected, and has Kerry for SoS?
Your worst frakkin nightmare. Debt from which we cannot recover.
Look, at this point I am fiscal conservative/social libertarian and I think the debt is the existential threat of our time.
BUT I also think Obama will drop the ball, often on purpose IMO, and we may be hit by anything at anytime with him on watch.
You may not like Big Dawg but he supported a strong dollar policy, had economic expansion and knew when to launch the damn missiles.
How can anyone not see it is letting down the country to let Obama waltz in by refusing to vote for the GOP candidate?
Isnt ANYONE on the GOP side better than Obama?
As an affirmed Clinton-lover, I would find it hard to vote for certain GOPers, but I will.
Know why?
I owe it to the country that's why.
Country first. Anyone but Obama!

It was something that popped up overnight a few days ago. My summary from the tread here:
...recapping what I can gather from the Hot Air ban-a-thon, it looks like lefty troll Grow Fins went into their thread on the Gaza babykillers, and started to do the ol' moral equivalency thing on Israel and America.
His final post was:
I don’t need to “prove” my moral credentials to reprobate genociders like you. Go f*ck yourself and the moral high horse you rode in on.
Grow Fins on March 14, 2011 at 2:55 PM
This finally drew the red flag from Mayor McCheese. However, Ed then had to balance that ban by taking out a host of righties that had been a tad extreme in reacting to -- you know -- slitting a baby's throat in ritual murder.

He deserves push-back and did some back-pedaling, but those who want to cast him from the conservative movement for what he said are misguided. The way some people-- especially the Facebook crowd-- expresses their disappointment is also rather off-putting. I understand profanity and screaming are the first inclination during a time like this, but such actions fail to explain why and how said lawmaker violated principle. A better balance of pathos and logos might be a better approach; e.g., "Senator DeMint is wrong on this..." versus "I'm going to primary your worthless RINO ass!!!!"

the conservative vote was split among Huckabee who got evangelical voters in the south and Romney who got northeastern conservatives who actually compared the guy as Reagan. Also Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter, and Rudy gathered some conservative votes, thus the moderates controled the election and they went for the guy who was "next in line" and thus Mac won all the right states

So, all those primary voters were just tools of the RNC to install McCain. Or, the RNC was supposed to just say "screw it....we hate McCain. We are not going to support the Republican nominee. Of course, if we do that, we all but hand the election to Obama, but what the hell, some annoymous guy on a blog somewhere won't blast us....so lets go with it!" Uh, once McCain won the primary, the RNC really didn't have a lot of choice.

The rhino has a symbiotic relationship with oxpeckers, also called tick birds. In Swahili the tick bird is named "askari wa kifaru," meaning "the rhino's guard." The bird eats ticks it finds on the rhino and noisily warns of danger. Although the birds also eat blood from sores on the rhino's skin and thus obstruct healing, they are still tolerated.
So, I guess if you really want to zing someone supporting a rino, you could call him an oxpecker.

I'd say it depends on the issue being discussed. The RNC, and for RNC read pretty much all of the Republican Party infrastructure, are weak at defeating Democrats in close races, and in keeping their finances straight,. However, they have been effective at putting the boot into the the conservative wing of the party to protect their own.
I guess the defensive circle they drew around Lisa Murkowski is a good example of the latter. Essentially kicked the ball into their party's own goal to protect her.

I just don't get the whole primary situation as it stands today. It just seems that certain parts of the country (and particularly, parts that aren't necessarily "pro" Rebublican) get a great deal of "bonus points" in selecting the nominee. Sorry, Ace et al, but I believe this is why the Repub nominee tends to be what the NE corridor wants McCain etc etc, and usually weak on the "conservative" front.
That is why we call you RINOS. And we are tired of voting for "Democrat Light"...How 'bout you give us one for a change?

And since I am spewing forth this evening...someone explain this to me. On Monday, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, accoridng to the posts at AOSHQ, the RNC is the most inept, comical, weak, pathetic organization known to man, incapable of basic human functions, like breathing.
On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the RNC is the all powerful, all knowing force shoving RINOS down everyone throars and defeating the pure forces of conservativism at every turn.
Technically you could argue that these are the same things. I would consider attempting to shove Rinos down our throats and and putting a stop to actual conservatives, to be weak and pathetic.

The RINO concept as presented makes no sense since most Republicans are moderates. You can't be a RINO if you are within the mainstream of your party. Some in the party are RINOs, but not you, Mr. Moderate.
[Full Disclosure: I left the Republican party in 2006 as I didn't want to be a member of a moderate party.]

We keep tossing the word around & sooner (A lot sooner in my opinion) or later it is going to lose its meaning/edge.
John McCain is a RINO, Susan Collins & Olympia Snowe are RINOS. But Rick Santorum? Michelle Bachmann (Yes I'm serious someone has gone there)?
Besides the point of what exactly is a RINO? Is it based on ACU rating? (And at what point are they are RINO? 50% rating? 60%? 70%? Hell Bob Bennett from Utah who just got kicked out had an 83.8 rating in his final year from the ACU & 86 overall. So what the hell is a RINO? And who gets to decide who is a RINO & who isn't?
Is Tim Pawlenty perfect? No, but is he magnitudes better than Barack Obama & at least pretty darn conservative leaning? Yeah. Same could be said of a lot of the current flock of GOP candidates. If you're looking for the candidate with the perfect record you will never find them (Unless you are the candidate). Its time we decided who is conservative *enough* & actually has the cajones to win this thing. Cuz we could put perfect "Tea Party Conservative Candidate" up & lose the race & end up with nothing. Doesn't mean we have to jump on the Arnold Schwarznegger bandwagon, just means we need to stop whining so much imho. Bachmann=RINO link here-----> http://tinyurl.com/4m3u8mj

The conservative candidates all got their asses kicked by the squishes, and this was in the republican primaries. How the hell could they have won the general? Their campaigns were awful. McCain had the best campaign of the bunch, and even that looked like amateur hour compared to the Obama machine.
Republicans were despised in that year. The democrats could have beat us with anyone. Running the guy that the media had spent the past decade lauding as a "maverick" was about the only chance we had, and even then it was a longshot.
Running the squish was a smart bet that year. Running a squish next year would be stupid, since the public is swinging away from the liberals.
Besides, if McCain hadn't won Palin would still be a nobody.

This is a big country, with hundreds of millions of people. There has to be some allowances for differences of opinion. And by the way, who gets to decide who is and is not a real true conservative? That seems kind of subjective to me.

And no one seems to be concerned about the fact that Palin was happy to be McCain's running mate. She did not say he was too much of a RINO for her, no sir. That is what is interesting about some of this kind of reasoning. DeMint is a bad guy for defending Romney, but it is okay fine if Palin sings the praises of John McCain, that hated RINO.
They will say it was the open primaries that put McCain in there, but that is the same system that made Reagan the nominee. In truth it is about timing and money and name recognition.

McCain skipped Iowa. He let Huckabee and Romney beat the hell out of each other in Iowa, driving up their negatives, and allowing him to save cash. Both Huckabee and Romney needed to win Iowa to win the nomination. Once Huckabee won, Romney had no fall back strategy. In the process, both Huckabee and Romney walked out of Iowa as damaged goods.
New Hampshire was next. McCain spent weeks their, while his opponets were elsewhere (most in Iowa, Rudy hanging out in Florida). With a splintered field (Huckabee, Romney, Hunter and The Fred) splitting the conservative vote, McCain eeked out a victory in New Hampshire, giving him momentum.
Next, South Carolina. No Republican has ever lost South Carolina and won the nomination. Enter Lindsey Graham and his machine, who managed to eek out another victory for McCain.
Next came Florida. Winner take all -- expensive market, Rudy competing. Enter Crist, the governor, who endorsed McCain on Friday night before the primary, had his ground troops moving and allowed McCain to eek out another victory.
After Iowa, Huckabee was more broke thna McCain and was done. Romney
had money ----- but what was his message...business is my DNA (yea, that
worked).
Romney bet all his chips on Iowa, and spent his whole campaign sucking up to evangelicals. He didn't see the economy as being an issue, since 2008 was about the Iraq war until the financial collapse on September 15. Once he lost NH, it was over. He knew that and dropped out relatively early. He is already claiming NH will be his this year, and he has got Sununu selling his inevitability. Now DeMint will keep the momentum going in South Carolina. Romney will fall apart this time, too; he goes about campaigning in a really clumsy way, just throwing his money around. He hired a bunch of image consultants to make him look like he's not spending money while he is. "Mess your hair up a little, Mitt. Now get a shopping cart full of ammo and get in line at the local Walmart. Yeah, get some toys for the kids. But call them 'gran chirrens.'" He sucks so bad.
