Robert Kennedy, Jr.'s BrightSource Lands $1.4 Billion Bailout
— rdbrewer

So? It's a green company. And he's a Kennedy. From Big Government:

President John F. KennedyÂ’s nephew, Robert Kennedy, Jr., netted a $1.4 billion bailout for his company, BrightSource, through a loan guarantee issued by a former employee-turned Department of Energy official.

. . .

Wagle was one of the principals in KennedyÂ’s firm who raised money for Barack ObamaÂ’s 2008 presidential campaign. When Obama won the White House, Wagle was installed at the Department of Energy (DOE), advising on energy grants.

From an objective vantage point, investing taxpayer monies in BrightSource was a risky proposition at the time. In 2010, BrightSource, whose largest shareholder is KennedyÂ’s VantagePoint Partners, was up to its eyes in $1.8 billion of debt obligations and had lost $71.6 million on its paltry $13.5 million of revenue.

We guaranteed loans for an ailing company, and a former employee of Kennedy helped decide whether BrightSource got the money. Sweet.

The 26-year-old Batavia resident and married father of a 2-year-old girl said he’s riding on a single issue: Boehner’s support of a federal budget that provided funding to Planned Parenthood, which Lewis calls “the largest killer of unborn babies in America.”

@8: "President John F. Kennedy? What, people wouldn't recognize who you're talking about without the title?"

Gotta admit, it flows a lot better than Privileged Dumbass Son Of A Bootlegger Who Turned Off The Engines On His PT-Boat While It Was In A Shipping Lane During Wartime And Got It Rammed And Sunk By An Enemy Destroyer As A Result John F. Kennedy.

Don't forget Ambassador's Horndog Doofus Son Who Was Hustled Out To The Navy Because He Was Rumored To Be Banging A Suspected Nazi Spy In Wartime London.

95 Obama's symbol for 2012 should be a trough full of money with an overstuffed pig sleeping next to it.

97 "We're getting rogered by this administration."

Since Obama's election, I've been preparing for this day by paying strangers to kick me in the nuts on a daily basis. And with a nightly regimen of shoving arugula up my pooper, I have finally grown quite accustomed to further bad news from this administration. Perhaps a 4 year plan of substance abuse, I might get through another 4 years.

101 Obama inherited a $10.6 trillion public debt when he was elected, give him another 4 years and he could double what it took 200 years to accumulate. Obama's unknown year wandering the dessert, was it studying at the Mugabe school of economics?

I have brilliant business plan.

Get 500 million loan. Put it in Ally bank for a year at 0.89%. Declare bankruptcy and just give back the 500 million. Pocket the 4.5 million of interest.
