Ron Reagan hits rock bottom
— Slublog

Pathetic.

2011 is a big year for Ronald Reagan fans, being the centennial of his February 6 birth in Tampico, Ill. But youngest son Ron Reagan is spoiling the good cheer with a new book that suggests the Gipper suffered from Alzheimer's disease while in the White House, a claim dismissed by Reagan's doctors and outside experts. "Had the diagnosis been made in, say, 1987, would he have stepped down?" Ron asks, regarding the disease confirmed in 1994. "I believe he would have," he writes in My Father At 100: A Memoir, due in bookstores Tuesday.
When I saw this story at Hot Air, I couldn't believe it at first. I know Ron disagreed with his father and the combination of his famous name and his liberal views have given him some notoriety with the media but still...I can't imagine him being this desperate for attention.

Visit the Hot Air link to see just how easy others have found it to punch holes in his 'exclusive' stories. Bloggers are going to spend weeks disproving the tales in this book. Heck, as AP points out, even David Gergen is counseling Ron against this.

Time for Ron to face a hard truth: he peaked while doing "Risky Business" parodies on "Saturday Night Live." It's been all downhill from there.

1 There is NO hate like liberal hate.

Attacking one's father, AFTER HE IS DEAD, is about as low as it gets.

7 Excerpt from Ron's book: "Some voters were beginning to imagine grandpa—who can never find his reading glasses—in charge of a bristling nuclear arsenal, and it was making them nervous. Worse, my father now seemed to be giving them legitimate reason for concern."

Even if the charge is true (and I'm sure its not), its amazing how a President over 70 with Alzheimers never lost the nuclear codes in the manner Der Slick did.

Reagan with a 10th of his brain would be quantum leaps better than Carter, Clinton, and Obama combined.

24 Monitoring some local virulent rhetoric, I chanced upon a restaurant review of a local joint (it used to be a Burger King and stood empty for years whilst a Wendy's was built from scratch, and then got turned into about 5 different Italian restaurants.)

The first iteration I found so repellent that I didn't bother to get seated, once handed the greasy laminated menu when I checked in, as a curious neighbor, willing to spend $30 on a lunch for a new neighborhood restaurant.

(How the fuck can you possibly have greasy dog-eared menus, your first week in business, offering "fresh" Italan cuisine?)

Also, don't, just don't offer shitty cellphone pics of your cuisine, especially if all your dishes look like dog vomit in the menu.

I dunno, perhaps they were exceptionally tasty.  I didn't try them.  I would never have tried them based on the evidence proffered by the menu!

So, apparently after about 5 changes of ownership, they got reviewed again by our local lib weekly rag.

"Their Pizza is too Cheesy".

Huh?

Too cheesy?

That's almost like saying too bacony!

WTF is wrong with you?

I'll bet that you would even eat Poppa John's Pizza with their slathering on of their too sweet, disgusting and yet weirdly metallic tasting,  "tomato sauce"!

So, long story short....

I'm expecting a Pizza and Salad Delivery from a joint that is less than one mile from me, in about 15 min.

"If it's a really tall Asian guy, that means that he is the owner!"

Seriously?

A tall Asian guy, sneaking up to my apartment door to deliver me a delicious Pizza and a Salad?

That's soo  AWESOME!!!

I love America.

27 If a guy with Alzheimers oversaw an unprecedented peacetime economic expansion, set the table for the fall of the Berlin Wall, the collapse of the Soviet Union, and historic tax cuts that nearly doubled the revenue to the federal government, one would expect that the media-anointed smartest man to ever be president would at least be competent.

48 You know what?  This is a typical leftist thing they do,  whether it is with families or conservative groups.

What they do is look for the weakest member and cut them off from the group,  either through flattery and bribes (David Brooks) or (as I suspect) blackmail and promises of fame and fortune ( Ron Reagan and his sister Patty).

You know damn well they cajoled him into writing this book because they want this out now when it's the 100th anniversary of Reagan's birthday.

Furthermore, they will do this with any conservative family or group of conservatives.   They tried to get Neil Bush's ex-wife to write a book critical of the Bush family.   They got Patty Reagan for a while.   They go after gay conservatives by ostracizing them and promising them dates if they become turncoats.   They dig up dirt and harass people,  like they did with bristol Palin,  after getting the weak link,  Levi,  to ditch her and run off to Hollywood.

This is who the left is.   They are evil people,  and Ron Reagan has been in their clutches for some time.   His mother must be heartbroken.

Maureen was Ron and Jane Wyman's daughter, their only biological child. She was first married to a wife beater, then divorced and re-married, somewhat happily, until she got sick. She is now deceased (from cancer).

Michael was adopted, and raised from a baby by Ron Reagan  and Miss Wyman, mostly by Jane after their divorce.  His twin birth brother owned "Waterbeds and Stuff", a chain of stores in Columbus, Ohio that sold waterbeds and marijuana paraphenalia.  They look a lot alike.  Michael is frankly the only one of their kids that has had anything close to a happy life. Even he was not very close to Ron, Sr.

So sorry that Jane and Nancy and Ronald didn't give you the attention that you now feel that you were owed.

Has it ever occurred to either of you, that perhaps, even as children, you just weren't all that interesting?

I mean sure, if I was one of your parents when you were a kid, I would love you...

But no way, would I lay odds on one of you whiny little babies amouningt to much of anything, in this world.

And I would have collected handsomely on that bet, as it turns out!

X Almighty Ron Jr.!

Don't you have fucking grand-kids or something to tend to by now?

93 It's a weird kind of man who denigrates the man who gave him his name so that he can get added fame and fortune.

Here is the funny thing: If he'd written a book praising his father with cute anecdotes and a posthumous reconciliation, it would have sold better.  The book doesn't even appear to have any revelations.  Just speculation and more daddy issues.

"I hated my dad, so you can hate him too."

95 Pizza in Tucson is rough.

True dat garret!

BTW fuck Magpies!

They are the best of the worst.

Nothing I would ever write home (Chicago or NYC or even fucking Annapolis) about!

This joint?

Their Pizza was too cheesy!

And olivy and oniony and every other topping that came on their special, which I ordered straight off the menu except for a request to hold the green peppers (I don't like them.  I think that they make everything that they touch taste like nail polish remover).

Crust was gluey and undercooked at the center (how could it not have been, under that pile of ingredients?!) but mercifully thin.

But I really did like the crusts.

Chewy, yeasty salty.

Ummmm!

Also the tomato "sauce"?

Fresh and sweet like you wouldn't believe, yet bright and lively without feeling "watery".

An excellent complement to the obviously in-store manufactured tastyy pizza dough.

If I had one critique, it would be this:

Turn up your oven by about 300 degrees.

Lord knows, I don't want to see crusts that are dried up breadsticks by any means!

But your dough, was only barely baked through.  Truth be told...

Still, soo yummy

Won't hurt it one single bit to get a mite of char on the ends in a hot oven!

(Also, don't fucking start baking the whole pizza with all of the watery veg toppings first!)

Winston had a son named Randolph, too (in addition to his father).

Ron Reagan perfectly reflects the modern liberal.  It doesn't have to be true, it just has to disparage whomever I disagree with politically.

The modern liberal is human garbage.

110 I love how so many sanctimonious liberals think they know what their parents would have done, what they thought, or why they did whatever they did. These particular sorts of cowards are too spineless to have children of their own; their own dark heart affirms to them that secret fear of their judgments returned upon their own heads. By having children of their own, they might learn something uncomfortable about their precious sense of superiority. Feh, that's more thought than he merits from anyone on a Saturday.

112 In Ron Reagan Jr's appearance on ABC, he finally said that the first signs of Alzheimers that he noticed while his father was still President in no way diminished his father Presidency, any more than FDR was diminished by his wheelchair or JFK's was diminished by his Addison's disease.

So you are left to understand that this was just a ploy to get more play for his forthcoming book.

Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at January 15, 2011 05:49 AM (swuwV)

118 We had always argued over this issue or that, rarely with anything approaching belligerence, but vigorously all the same. He generally had the advantage of practiced talking points backed up by staff research, but I was an unabashed, occasionally effective advocate for my own positions. 'He told me you make him feel stupid,' my mother once shared, to my alarm. I didn't want my father to feel stupid. If he was going to shoulder massive responsibility, I wanted him to feel on top of his game. Ron Jr is trying to say his father must have had Alzheimer's or he would have been a reasonable, smart liberal like him. The conservatism was a result of the disease.

Posted by: MayBee at January 15, 2011 06:32 AM (PLixr)

119 So Ronald Reagan with "Alzheimers" would still be 1000 times better than Obama and Clinton and Carter and LBJ who supposedly have all their faculties.

speaking as a Radiologist, I'm fairly certain theres nothing that a neurosurgeon could see while doing a craniotomy/craniectomy to relieve pressure that would suggest Alzheimers. The plaques and neurofibrous bundles that are seen with Alzheimers are microscopic.  Atrophy of the brain in a certain distribution pattern is often seen with the disease, but is by no means enough to make the diagnosis.  And the neurosurgeons dont examine the whole brain during that procedure, although they could see the typical pattern of atrophy on a CT scan.

I call bullshit on little Ron
