Rumor: Hugo Chavez Dead?
— Ace

Supposedly, the rumor goes, he went to Cuba for surgery, and died there.

I hear this from a source too, but he only hears it from his sources, and they're not always right (he tells me).

Can I just put out a general warning? Not about this necessarily. But generally.

I know for a fact there is an effort to punk the media. Maybe the blogosphere too.

Be on the lookout for tantalizing tips. Do not take the first level of verification as authoritative, because they're putting enough thought into this at least pass the first level.

Like, if you get an email from an FBI agent, and his phone number is included, ignore the phone number he gives you and call up the FBI HQ he works at and get connected that way. Spanish Prisoner style.

In this case I already know the guy tipping me, he tells me it's only got fair confidence, and besides, as the link shows, the rumor is spreading so why hide it?

It's a rumor. Honestly I don't believe it but what the hell. It's content.

But he said not confirmed and he would fill us in. Turned out to be bullshit. Since this is out, I'll fill you in (and I didn't even get it from Allah): The claim was made via email, from a "doctor," that Chris Christie was undergoing emergency surgery following a stroke. The doctor's name in the email corresponded with a real heart surgeon in trenton. as a bonus, the doctor was actually unavailable for comment (busy or with a patient). The punker also attempted to push the story to CNN using someone on the right's name and cellphone. All fake.

51 42 Dealing with Chavez?  He is worse then Obama... Wouldn't be surprised if Chavez faked his death for awhile then reappeared and said he was resurrected by his version of marxist jesus.

The story that CDR M just provided the link to has listed that possibility as well:

Semtei said that even the lack of information about Chávez's health is "one big ploy" designed to create an atmosphere where he can return triumphantly and relaunch his presidency by proving that rumors of his demise were greatly exaggerated. If Semtei is right, Chávez will be back in plenty of time to preside over the bicentennial of Venezuela's independence, on July 5, and the subsequent regional summit on Margarita island. If he is not, Venezuela may be in for a political earthquake.

The article linked reported Hugo was suffering from a pelvic abcsess. Denying reports he was being treated for prostrate cancer.

i'm an OB/GYN nurse, and admittedly no expert on mens health issues. I have never read about or heard of a man suffering with a "pelvic abcsess". Sounds like bs of the first order.

Remember though that Cuba has a two-tiered system;  the higher-up commie sons of bitches get treatment on par with Western-styled hospitals while everybody else languishes in deplorable hospitals where you might get a band-aid if you show up at the right time of the week.

Obviously, Hugo is being treated at one of the better hospitals.

81 Hopefully Chavez takes a dirt nap. And Castro can't hold out much longer.
Likely not long from now many of America's most hated enemies will be no longer. Pretty short period to lose so many on the top enemies list.

Saddam - 2003
Bin Laden - 2011
Gaddafi - 2011?
Chavez - 2011?
Castro - 2010 (He's a zombie)

America only can have about 5 most hated foreign leaders at a time. I'm expecting Assad's name recognition to go up. Some JV evil leaders will have a shot to move up to the varsity team.  Who will step up? Morales, Lukashenko, Correa?  Longevity helps. So does being really, really evil. I think we'll probably get some new enemies in the mideast once the Arab Spring shakes out. And I won't be surprised at all if Karzai is on the list 5 years from now.

116 Yeah, it could be fake.

And if you were the first one jumping on board and got punked, that'd look bad.  However, this one has already been bandied about other sites to the point that it's necessary to comment on it for just that reason.  If it's fake (and as long as you weren't one of the early ones jumping on it), that would put this in the same class as all of the "[X] terrorist got killed" rumors, or the rumors that Castro died a while back, or all the rumors that Bin Laden died years before he actually did die.  As long as you weren't the first one, two days later, nobody cared and everything went back to normal.

Hell, Mark Steyn was wrong on Bin Laden dying for almost a decade and five seconds after he was proven wrong, nobody cared.

Ace, coming from somebody who supported you O'Donnell, supported in general your positions on Palin, and supported you going after Weiner (and, yeah, I realize I'm not a big player commenter-wise, so take "support" to mean whatever), please just chill.  Chill.  It seems like things have changed lately (and I don't mean about this, but generally).  You don't need to spend all you're time concerned about people trying to punk you.

204 As long as there's a shot of Fredo in the sidebar, I might as well paraphrase Michael re: Hyman Roth - "He's been dying of the same heart attack for 20 years."

205

If true, and that's a big IF, I exult and take great joy and pleasure in contemplating Hugo Chavez's death and agony. Ethically and morally I am untroubled since joy at the death of Hostis Humani Generis (*enemy of all mankind,) like Chavez should be encouraged. The death and suffering of an agent of pure evil is music.

208 Be on the lookout for tantalizing tips. Do not take the first level of verification as authoritative

Very first time you ever referenced me, I was stoked about that by the way, was when I said that Chris Matthews who was just getting into his hyper partisan persona, said that "If bush establishes a democracy in Iraq he should be on mount rushmoore."  I think he immediately corrected saying "Jeffersonian Democracy." to give him an infinate leeway, since the US is the only "jeffersonian democracy," and it really isn't even jeffersonian.  So he created a nonsense term.

I IMMEDIATELY clarified myself, cuz I didn't want MY tip to disclaim this place.  I will crap all over the comments, but I won't taint the main page with bad tips.

209 This is OT but somewhat related.   Just listened to Batchelor interview the doctor in the House.

When Batchelor put the podcast up it is truly worth a listen.  Having recently supported a friend through a heath emergency I've come the realize the sorry state of affairs of our medical system and this guy seems to have a lot of the answers while not destroying the system.

It would make sense that Hugo decided not to enter a hospital in his own country since probably many of his countrymen wouldn't want to see him exit said institution.  That being said it's too bizarre that he went to Cuba.  You would think he would have gone to India, that's the new place to get state of the art medical care.   I kid you not.

211 ever since the serious players left, they are all content free.   There was a time that even the jokes had a reference to the mainpage post.   You guys are pikers.

212 Was Hugo at the recent OPEC meeting where they couldn't agree and it was described by various sources as chaotic?

213 Free medical care in Cuber. That's why all the libtards go there...it's free.

214 Did he get to keep his own doctor? That's what I want to know.

215 Hmmm the spanish newspaper in Miami is reporting on this subject here.  If anyone reads spanish maybe you can figure out if he's in critical condition or not around.

216 Will B+rry send him a copy of his book to help heal him? Maybe he could slip in a couple pics of his Mom with those hi! heels.

218 According to Babalu Blog, his wife and daughter rushed out of Venezuela on a Vene Air Force plane. 72 hours ago.

That's confirmed.

If he is confirmed dead later, there better be some pudding around. Or at least a few humpbots....

219 Sources are unable to confirm that Chavez's prostate was inspired by Sarah Palin's crosshair map to develop cancer.

220 I don't believe it but I hope it's true.

Posted by: steevy at June 25, 2011 09:42 PM (mqWSV)

221 according to this article he arrive in Cuba on June 8 and was rushed into surgery.  So it's June 26,  18 days after he was rushed into surgery.  If the rumors are true that he has some prostate problem and he had surgery then it's possible a pelvic abscess formed and that is why the wife and daughter were flow to Cuba.  I wouldn't let him read this article while in the hospital, it would truly scare the heck out of him.

222 Oh crap, now am I going to get my movies financed?

223 I remember that when Castro had to have his life-saving surgery, he went to Spain. I have used that in my arguments with the leftoids who insist that Cuba's healthcare system is better than ours, and it is effective...it's one of those things where they just change the subject because they have no answer. Now if their Uncle Hugo goes to Cuba and actually dies, they'll really be scrambling. I hope this is true for the sake of the Venezuelan people.

224 Even if he isn't dead -18 days under the knife is going to give other colonels some Presidential aspirations. Maybe they will start exploratory "committees" and hire a few "campaign" consultants.

227 I smell a CIA plot. They somehow convinced Chavez to go to Cuba for healthcare, surgery no less.Hell, even Castro didn't fall for that ploy.

As fans of Soccer, you should get fully prepared at first. For example, you would better prepare a suitable pair of soccer cleats , a set of soccer jerseys or whatever. Otherwise, you will not enjoy an exciting football match. Anyway, it is necessary and essential to prepare for the football match in a good way.(yang)
