— Ace Via Miss80sBaby, a plan vs. a punchline.
Here's some of Obama's numbers:
$3.73 trillion — total spending this year (25 percent of GDP, highest levels since World War Two).$46 trillion — total spending over the next decade.
$8.7 trillion — total new spending over the same period.
$26.3 trillion — Total new debt, including entitlement obligations, predicted by 2021.
$7.2 trillion — Total deficit predicted by the end of the decade.
Maybe it's a pun. I never get puns.

The CBO has added $2.4 Trillion in deficit over the next decade to Obama's budget so Obama's budget is actually a $9.6 Trillion deficit.

To counter all the misinformation and educate the people, I have created Save The Future University. STFU will be organized and administered by My good friends at SEIU. And so, if you have any doubts about My plans, the good folks at SEIU will direct you to STFU, and that should end the problem.

All you bitter clingers are so focused on numbers, but you conveniently leave out the intangible benefits that President Obama offers us.
How can you out a price on the healing power of a smile from the World's Most Charismatic Black Man?
How can you quantify the boost the economy receives from a confidently up-tilted and out-thrust chin?
How can you ever repay a Man for soothing your economic worries with a hypnotizing baritone drone as he reads words written by others?
Oh my gosh, I can sense that I'm just about to get raped...again...

Saw Ryan and Pence on morning joe. Ryan was amazing. Joe felt compelled to call Mika out for her hate of bush and cheney on the gitmo thing and she couldn't even lose graciously, reminded me of all my friends. You have them, they are totally and completely wrong, you've just proved it to them and they somehow turn it around and try to make it sound like you didn't hear right, or that's what they really meant but didn't say it or this was the secret outcome all along.
ryan ended his visit with a "this is the time, this is the congress, this is the president, let's get it done"....and I found myself thinking "wow he sounds like a dem with his "this is the president" but I guess you have to toss a few bones to the rabid dogs.
The people around me got excited by Ryan's plan, they were suddenly hope full and they were saying "did he say by 2020 the debt would be gone?"

ok, I'll admit it, he's the first black American president, a historic presidency, he promised me hope and change and TRANSPARENCY, he said everything would be online 48 hours in advance. He seemed like a skilled negotiator, he seemed like a fighter, he seemed like a guy who was going to bring everyone together, have a consensus and get things done. If it was the fact that he was black that made people come together and do the right thing for the country, I didn't care cause I don't see color but maybe other people do. I expected him to use anything and everything in his arsenal to save the country, up to and including his blackness and his fondness for golf and basketball. I thought if he could get money out of the cheap dems who don't even give a penny of their own money to charity, for his campaign, then he could easily get compromises out of them for the good of the country.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think he and his party would wholly lock the republicans out of negotiations on obamacare and pass it without them. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that we could look up in Times Square and see a right to life bill board telling us about the assault of planned parenthood on the black community. I expected him to get angry about this. I expected him to raise up the black community. I expected more.

What you fools don't understand is that the latest polls show huge support for Obama's spending plans. The American people want to be cared for by the government, and they are willing to pay for it. The historically low taxes that we are paying now will, of necessity, increase, but only to a point that more closely matches that of most European countries.
In a fair and just world, only those who actually pay taxes would get to vote. Sigh.

There's a great book, "Once A Runner" (fiction) about a quarter miler.

I'd like to think that this is a metaphor for the U.S. Yeah, we've fallen down, but we can get back up and win.

She only ran it once, and in a practice.
She was practically jogging and did it in 1:15.
The coach thinks she can do it in under 65 seconds, which is very good for an 11 year old. She still likes jumping, being kind of lazy. I sent you a pic of her last meet. She practically flew out of the pit.

No, if you're on the dole, you don't get a vote. I'm willing to consider exemptions for SS Retirees, if we work some plan that can help negate the negatives of having someone whose income is from wealth redistribution being able to vote themselves more government largess.
Untenable. It would require altering the constitution. You won't manage. Even if you did, you cannot distinguish out all the moochers who are richer than Croesus and toss around campaign donations to vote themselves more subsidies and anti-competitive regulation.

Seriously! I hate those years we don't get a summer. The worst one evah was back in 1991, if I remember correctly. Our summer was basically 3 nice weeks in September. (Sunny and over 70). The rest of "the summer" was rainy and cold.

Move to Texas. You'll never have a year without summer again. Or, rather, your definition of "year without summer" will become "Year with less than 10 100 degree days."
And, just let me say, I'm getting tired of this lingering winter/early spring. It's frickin' April. It shouldn't be in the 30s when I get up in the morning. I want my 85 degree days, dang it, before I have to deal with the (much better than during the winter) 110 degree days of late July and early September.

Holy Crap! Waaay o/t and not a pun, but huge:
The journalist, whose name is not disclosed in the document labeled “secret,” not only cooperated but provided the identity of a confidential source, according to the FBI memo — a possible breach of journalistic ethics if he or she did not have the source’s permission.
The ABC employee was even assigned a number in the FBI’s informant database, indicating he or she was still being vetted for suitability as a snitch after providing “highly accurate and reliable information in the past” and then revealing information the network had obtained in the hours just after the 1995 terrorist attack by Timothy McVeigh.
The journalist “advised that a source within the Saudi Arabian Intelligence Service advised that the Oklahoma City bombing was sponsored by the Iraqi Special Services who contracted seven (7) former Afghani Freedom Fighters out of Pakistan,” an April 17, 1996 FBI memo states, recounting the then-ABC journalist’s interview with FBI agents a year earlier on the evening of the April 19, 1995 bombing. (The Iraqi connection, of course, never materialized.)…
ABC News told the Center for Public Integrity that it is not certain about the identity of the journalist involved in the 1995-96 episode, but does not believe he or she still works for the network.

Ryan's plan doesn't do anything to reduce costs.
All it does is push costs onto the states and private insurance sector, which means you and I will still get to pay for their care, only we'll pay more through higher premiums and bills.
The percentage of health care costs will continue going up for the country. Which will be a burden on businesses of all sizes and reduce the quality and availability of care for everybody. States that are able to innovate to hold down costs will be fine; but many states will go even deeper into the red. (And a lot of them, like TX, where 1/4 of the population isn't insured, are likely to be disasters.)
And this will leave the elderly to the tender mercies of insurance companies. Who will also get to decide how much treatment they get - or don't.

Wow. Thanks for bringing that insight to the table.
Ryan's plan doesn't do anything to reduce costs.
Cutting government spending does, in itself, cut costs. Unless you're assuming t that our federal government is already acting at full efficiency.
And even you aren't that stupid ... are you?
All it does is push costs onto the states and private insurance sector, which means you and I will still get to pay for their care, only we'll pay more through higher premiums and bills.
Assumes facts not in evidence. What, you're assuming Obamacare will reduce premiums? Recent evidence (rising premiums) points to no.
Or do you mean price controls and death panels (which will reduce quality and choice respectively)?
The percentage of health care costs will continue going up for the country. Which will be a burden on businesses of all sizes and reduce the quality and availability of care for everybody.
They are rising RIGHT NOW, genius. More so now that millions have access to "free" health insurance.
States that are able to innovate to hold down costs will be fine; but many states will go even deeper into the red. (And a lot of them, like TX, where 1/4 of the population isn't insured, are likely to be disasters.)
States that innovate WILL be fine. Those that don't will be forced to adopt similar principles or collapse. There's even a theory for this.
It is one of the happy incidents of the federal system that a single courageous state may, if its citizens choose, serve as a laboratory; and try novel social and economic experiments without risk to the rest of the country -- Louis Brandeis
Goodness me! Now we're learning some history! It's never too late, even for a jackass like JEA.
And this will leave the elderly to the tender mercies of insurance companies. Who will also get to decide how much treatment they get - or don't.
Alternatively a government body (with political motivations) can make those determinations.
Either way rationing must occur. The choices are self-rationing, insurer rationing or government rationing.
Why? Because healthcare ain't an unlimited free resource, you fucking idiot.
The first option is clearly the best and could also be achieved if the country weren't full of dumbfuck hammerheads like you.

I find people who share their 'late to life to talk about this (publicly)' abuse stories while plugging a book odd.

Freeze Ryan. Personalize it. Get nasty.
The only thing that counts, the only thing, is reelection. Fuck everything else. Fuck it all. Obama's personal wealth, by the time he is Clinton's age, will make Clinton seem like a pauper, so there is nothing to worry about as concerns his kids' or his kids' kids' future. Besides, they'll go into gummint, anyways.
It is so predictable, it's silly. He's the wizard of oz, behind the curtain. Except that he is brilliant, and is now out, in full campaign mode.
No one can beat him, and we are doomed.

Yeah, I like him. YouTube has a ton of Discovery Channel and Science Channel shows, and there are physics lectures all over the place too, including by some giants. And some famous experiments, like the double-slit - not Sheen's double slit, but Young's.
There are also some kooks pushing unorthodox physics, which is entertaining some times.

JEA, Ocare does the exact opposite of any remedy to healthcare/insurance reform; it's made it worse instead of better. Instead of saving Granny it bent her over and raped her more; it did it to everyone.
400 and 800 m are great races (and my specialty in hs and college, and my kids ran them too, pretty well) -- successful training for them is very dependent on what sort of runner you're working with. They involve a certain amount of strate-gery stuff, which is cool.

Sheen's double slit experiment proves vicodin interferes with alcohol.
Also that gonorrhea is, in fact, contageous.

Some incredible lib screaming here at Salon:
"What's next? Mercy killing? Imagine, in that vein, being condemned to death because you're poor. And 'Rayon' Ryan just keeps tugging along with his moocher's salary. He's so anti-government it's amazing he's even in the government in the first place.
Maybe when 'Rayon' Ryan dies, we'll be able to enfold him in the Nazi flag."
Read the rest-- it's just a taste of what the conservative Republicans are up against in the fight to pass this budget.

I remember reading somewhere that the guy in MA was complaining as the dems were delving into his private health records. Then I read on a thread today that he would not vote to defund planned parenthood. So, I'm assuming there is some connection here? Could someone close to him have had an abortion?

Its state is undetermined until an observer observes it. Or rather, the wet fart state and the dry fart state are superimposed until he collapses the wavefunction.

So are you assuming something or asking a question? Brown is easily accessible, just go to his FB page and ask some of his supporters your question. Or you could just sit here and fret over all the things you "hear".

No wonder we argue all the time.
Kaku is a smarmy, smug, self-important ignorant little shit. Half his act is simply copied from Discover and Smithsonian and the other half is made-up shit and his political agenda.
I cannot even stand to listen to him anymore, with his catastrophic-warming this and his made-up crap about aliens that he treats as fact, to his absolute and lofty certainty about whatever his latest bug is about this or that hypothetical area of cosmology.
Dude is the Joe Isuzu of hard science. A genuine futurist uses words like "maybe, might, could be" a lot, Kaku loves "is, will be, certainly" etc. It's not trivial, it's insulting.
And they show that crap to schoolchildren, who are then dumber.
