— DrewM After a month or so of relative radio silence and Sarah Palin is back in the spotlight with a visit to the Iowa state fair.
"I think there is plenty of time to jump in the race," she said. "Watching the whole process over the last year certainly shows me that, yes, there is plenty of room for more people."She said that "practically speaking" September would probably be a deadline for her decision. "I don't want to be perceived as stringing people along," she said.
Palin spoke to the press for about an hour and manged to work in a bit of a shot at Rick Perry.
Palin dings Perry: "I'm glad he's entering the race, even though he said he wouldn't"
Apparently Perry said he wouldn't run for President during his last run for Governor. I remember people saying that Perry would meet Palin's test of a true conservative candidate and that his running would keep her out. She might wind up endorsing him but it doesn't sound like a slam-dunk by any stretch.
I really hope Palin makes up her mind sooner rather than later about getting in the race, especially if she's going to kibitz and comment on candidates from the sidelines. There's no denying Palin's appeal and her ability to generate attention and coverage. At some point, the candidates that are actually running need to be the center of attention. If this is part of her campaign, it's absolutely fair. If it's an attempt to build a brand, not so much.
Time will tell.
Oh and you know who a Palin candidacy would benefit? That's right, Mitt Romney. He'd love to sit back and watch Perry and Palin slug it out for awhile.
Added: Some think I put a negative gloss on Palin's comments about Perry. Well, the folks at Conservatives for Palin seem to think it was a hit and are pretty excited about it.

Have any lawyer-types weighed in on Rush's assertion that since this was passed through the reconciliation process, the bill must remain deficit-neutral (yeah, it never really was) and once the individual mandate is overturned, it is no longer officially deficit-neutral and thus, the entire bill has to be thrown out regardless of severability?

Ultimately, I expect he'll play it right (because he normally does) and it'll play in his favor: something along the lines of "I'm doing this because I feel it's my duty- but if I'm going to do it, I'm going 'all in' and doing it right." Where teh Fred only had that first part.
And, As a Palin supporter, I'm a little disappointed by the dig. I've defended her decision to step down as governor, and a host of other things she's done. But I don't think she really has grounds to complain about someone changing his mind. I'm hoping it was off-the-cuff and they'll kiss and make up, but it makes me wonder if she's as petty as I've previously denied her being.

Hmmmmmmm. She either stays home, goes out and ignores the questions (and everyone here bitches when she dodges interviews), answers the question no and she's done, or keeps the option open. Would I prefer her as the candidate? yes. Do I think that she's more electable than Perry? Heck no. Do I hope and think that she will eventually endorse him? Yes.
Our President is running around pretending that he's an outsider to DC. If she wants to continue 'weighing her options' then she's got that right.
Crap. (I'm bullstorming here). What if she's waiting to see if Obama continues to crater? If a ham sandwich can eventually beat him, then (in her mind) why can't she be that ham sandwich? But if she bows out now, and that does happen, then she's bowed out.

I'm not on the Palin bandwagon (I'd prefer she continue to do what she's doing) but I'd have to hear the tone on how this was delivered. She could have meant "I'm glad he's changed his mind." I don't trust the media when it comes to reporting anything Palin said.

Palin: "Even though he promised, I'm glad he's doing it."
Okay, that reads differently than "I'm glad he's entering the race, even though he said he wouldn't," does. The first makes her sound actively supportive- in which case her comments about there still being "room for her" are just more stringing people along.
In either case, I'm not sure I agree completely with her wording- but Palin is Palin, so I'm not going to complain too much.
Not sure what to think here- I think I'll default to "off-the-cuff" and wait for more evidence.

I'd suggest that Palin will see how Perry fares after he enters the race before deciding whether to run against him for the nomination or endorse him.
If Perry somehow flames out in the first couple of weeks, she can come in as the last best hope to stop Romney.
If Perry catches fire and burns bright and sustainably, she can endorse him, angle for a job in his Administration, and wait for 2020.

But what if she or someone close thinks that the opening may come if Obama continues to fall? I agree that if she does not run now, she won't ever run. No point in even reading a Palin thread at Tepid Air anymore. The discourse is so far from rational that it puts the Kos Kiddies to shame. It's not even as fun as reading letters to Penthouse magazine, though the masturbatory content is very similar.
It does her no favor to have her failures -- among them the Alaska gas pipeline (which was never built) and her quitting office -- "explained" with shrill denunciations of the person bringing up the questions.
If she's going to run, let her get in and deal with the issues, as all candidates should. This Facebook shit is getting old, really. So is the Magical Mystery Bus Tour.
All that said, let her be the nominee and I'll support her 100%: money, some volunteerism if possible and, most important, my vote. I'd rather have Perry, Bolton, West, Christie or someone like that, but the goal of defeating President Stuttering Clusterfuck trumps everything.
But if I see "you go, Cuda!" or "ooooh, I love her" or "she's living rent-free in the libs' heads! ZOMG!" again, I'm gonna hurl. That's all juvenile shit.

She said Thursday night's debate involving declared Republican candidates in Iowa was "great" and she welcomed the entry of Perry into the race but said it would have no bearing on her final decision.
And here's CBS' take on the interview with her:
"You have different functions in the state of Texas and the state of Alaska in terms of governing powers from the governor's office," she said, "So it's tough to compare what the executive duties are. We have a very strong governor's office... but, he's a great guy and I look forward to seeing him in those debates."
Palin later added that it will be "great" to have Perry in the race.
And ABC's take:
Ms Palin said Thursday night's debate involving declared Republican candidates in Iowa was "great" and she welcomed the entry of Mr Perry into the race, but said it would have no bearing on her final decision.

Do you think that will stop Obama? We've already seen him violate the WPA and not defend DADT (despite an OATH to do just that).
We've seen the Republicans not call him on his violation of WPA, instead chicken-shitting out and voting present.
Obama has defied orders from a Judge regarding a drilling moratarium. His ATF has decided to require reporting of multiple long gun sales in 4 border states, violating ATFs powers as well as the Equal Protection clause.
We've even seen some people say that if he had violated the Constitution by unilaterally raising the debt ceiling, they wouldn't impeach him.
Obama/Democrats don't give two hoots about what is legal, and, frankly, neither do the Republicans.

Posted by: stuiec at August 12, 2011 04:15 PM (Di3Im)
frankly, I think that is what she is doing. Makes sense with her holding off on giving an answer and the dig as it throws off the plan as she then has to wait. And with Perry entering the race late, it might be too late for her to jump in to squash Rommey's nomination

I don't understand the worship, the statements like, "he can't win otherwise" and similar nonsense, which comes from Palinistas. Sarah Palin is a former VP candidate and was the governor of Alaska. That's it. While she has a following and it is sizable, it isn't even a majority of the GOP - if she had that she'd already be running and be the frontrunner. She's not divine, you don't 'know' her personally, and if there is one thing about politicians, it's that there's always a group of people who believe that this one is 'different.' She is not pivotal to the success of the GOP.

God forgive me for saying this, but we're seeing a repeat of the Delaware Senate race. Except that Perry is by far preferable to Castle. We need to concentrate on the best conservative who we honestly believe has a path to victory, knowing that the odds against us are formidable (MFM for one).

According to the New York Times, this is what Sarah Palin had to say about Rick Perry while at the Iowa State Fair (brace yourself, it's pretty ugly):
“I appreciate that Perry — sounds like now he’s going to be in the race — because it adds to the debate,” she said. “It adds another choice for Americans to consider heading into 2012. I appreciate that he’s willing to jump into this arena and to be a part of this.”

Palin did show horrible disrespect to a fellow leader at the Iowa State Fair.
And whenever she got the opportunity to criticize President Obama, she took it.
“I think the question should be asked. Is the president responsible for the downgrade?” she said, referring to the recent change in the nation’s credit rating from one agency. “And I would say, yes. Because from the top, leadership starts from the top.”
As she often does, Ms. Palin accused the press of failing to offer voters the full picture of Mr. Obama during the 2008 campaign. That, she said, explains how the voting public chose Mr. Obama and Vice President Joe Biden over Senator John McCain and herself.
“The press didn’t tell us what his record was,” she said the public thinks.
A reporter then said that some people think Mr. Obama was vetted as thoroughly as she was during the 2008 campaign.
“Not even close,” she said, stopping in her tracks to turn around. “Now that’s the funniest thing I’ve heard all day. Barack Obama was vetted as much as Sarah Palin was vetted? I don’t think I’ve heard anything as ridiculous.”
And then she added: “At least, not as of noon today.”

I'm not fond of that characterization. If the election were held today definitely. In a year and half, after the biting consequence of the downgrade and stagflation set in, I am not as comfortable simplifying it to mere impossibility. I would just say that depending on conditions she might be unelectable, and, in any event harder to get elected then some other candidates.
That I think is the reasonable analysis.

This was the moment--this was the time--when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals."
This moment was the moment when he own enough delegates to knock Hillary! out of the running so apparently Hillary was causing the oceans to rise and the planet to be injured.
And then last night:

If you think Perry is electable, just contemplate the fact that Obama will destroy the guy with this simple sentence: "I don't think this country needs another governor from Texas."
That's almost as funny as the the "Obama was vetted as much as Palin" line.
The only thing Obama can destroy, at this point, is our way of life. If he even agrees to a debate, he's gonna be curled up under the podium, in the fetal position, by the second Perry rebuttal.

The thing I don't like about Palin is that she hasn't come out and said, "I'm giving it some thought." She's letting the media parse her statements but she has never come out and said, "I'm thinking about running." Even what she said about Perry, that there's "still room in the field" can be taken any which way.
I haven't given her permission to be clear.

several people have already demonstrated that we're not quite sure what she said. And I have to flat out disagree with the "letting the media". Our side has at best limited control over what they can stop the media from pulling from its collective ass. Look at what it took to pry Helen Thomas from a WH briefing room seat.

Dear Perry-bots: Lighten up, Francis.
If C4P is a 'Jonestown' what the heck is this place?
As good fortune would have it, my last name is Jones, but I'd suggest Gov. Prayer Meeting has a lot more in common with ole Jim than do I, or any other C4Per.
Yeah, that Holy Roller fest just past is going to play real well with the soft RINOs and libertarians, isnt it? But its OK, I'm sure the Dems wont bring it up.
Nor have I ever run a state campaign for the closest living cultic equivalent of Jim Jones, that being one Al Gore.
That was no youthful indiscretion; Perry was in his late 30's at least then.
And I'm not trying to win Palin converts here; ever since Tucson I just have a major intolerance for mealy mouthed hypocrites.
So taste my nightstick, chumps.
Say, by the way, can anyone throw me out a memorable Perryism?

Blue Hen, I agree. Why should she give away anything at this point in time. If she want's to wait, even though Perry hasn't officially announced yet, so what?
Palin said she's glad he's going to run, even if he said he wouldn't, or some such. So what? Why is everyone thinking she is being snide? She may be actually thrilled he is going to announce he IS running. I can't tell from the quotes in a rag. Does anyone have a video of her saying this? Can it be construed as "taking a shot" at him? I'm too excited about Perry to fret much. So far, I've found nothing to disqualify him from my enthusiastic support after a fair amount of looking. The next few weeks should be interesting.
I'm worried that my best "back up" to Perry remains Romney. I keep wanting to latch onto to Bachmann, but I can't quite do it. At the end of the day, I don't think she's properly prepared for that job. Maybe someday, but not now. Pawlenty seems to have a really passive-aggressive streak that I loathe and the others are not serious candidates to me.

Except it's so immediately credible because she's done this sort of thing before. She's taken these kinds of petty snipes at at least two other declared candidates (Santorum and Romney); Perry would make three. And as I think we're seeing here, if she starts playing this little game of hers with Rick Perry, the clear choice to unite the party and defeat the JEF, it will be a bridge too far for her.

Of course, if she didn't say anything about Perry at all, it would show her inability to answer the hard questions without coaching and yada and yada.

I don't see what would cause a flame out, but I guess time will tell.
I took the plunge and started actively talking up Perry to my friend here (who's LDS but has turned off Romney for being too liberal). She was wondering about foreign policy. I confess I didn't have a lot in that area, but so far he reads like a pretty standard "be true to your allies" Republican. (In other words, and Evil Militaristic Expansionist). It'll be good to learn more, but I'm not expecting any big deviations from standard GOP positions.
Posted by: Y-not at August 12, 2011 01:25 PM (5H6zj)
The argument that Perry would be a better Republican presidential nominee than Palin because he is electable and she is not is stupid. If she had not campaigned for him last year, he probably would have faced a dangerous election run-off. She has been through the left’s vicious fire and is stronger now than when it started. That’s why every announced Republican candidate and Perry would love to have her endorsement. Once she shows her capabilities in debates, Americans will see that all the crap thrown at her is just that. The Republican presidential nominee will be "Palinized" – face an intense scrutiny and venomous attacks. We know that cannot take down Palin. Perry? We don’t know. If he cannot take a little sniping during the primary, as the Republican presidential nominee he would be toast.
While Perry was campaigning for reelection last year, he assured Texas voters he had no interest in being the next president in any form or fashion and, if reelected, he absolutely would serve out his new four-year term. Honesty is important to me.

It's not a matter of being 'stronger' now. I wish that it were. Her performance in polling isn't nearly as good as several others. That's what some of us are basing our opinion on. Others like undead simply hate her and probably always will. I'm not happy about the implications of electibility, but I acknowledge that it is a valid factor.

But she was quick to add that Perry’s change of heart was fine. “I was surprised that he had changed his position on that, but I’m glad that he’s going to be in there.”
“If at the end of the line he’s the one left standing, I would be extremely enthused about him because I’m a believer in ABO – anybody but Obama. So, absolutely. But there’s still a long time in this process,” Palin said, adding that Perry’s entry doesn’t affect her decision making.

Posted by: The War Between the Undead States at August 12, 2011 01:33 PM (dUvsv)
Yes, he'll probably be pretty text-book Republican on that one. On the other hand, since he has been personally involved in trying to get foreign companies to locate pieces of their businesses (from factories, to offices, to distribution centers) to Texas, he also already has a fair deal of diplomatic foreign policy experience.
If she had not campaigned for him last year, he probably would have faced a dangerous election run-off.
That's an assertion without evidence. Perry was handily ahead of Kay-Bailey in the Primary, and Bill White was a sick joke.
...he assured Texas voters he had no interest in being the next president in any form or fashion...
And from what he's said since (and is saying now) was absolutely sincere in that statement. However, with the volume of requests for him to run that he's received, he obviously rethought his position. I don't have a problem with that. I never recall him stating that he "absolutely would serve out his new four-year term." I recall him always answering that question exactly the same as the question about about running for President, "I have the best job in the World, why would I want to run for President, when I hope his power becomes greatly limited? (-a reference to his reverence for the 10th Amendment- ag)"

She has made up her mind--she is in the race. She just has not said that she is in. There are a lot of benefits for her to delay her formal entry and not a lot of costs. (There are also more benefits than costs for her to run, which is why I am confident that she will formally announce in a month or two. She will be the last of the candidates in.)
If any of the others can beat her for the nomination, they deserve the respect and admiration of all the Palinistas.

Palin will run. Polls this far out, when Palin has not announced, mean nothing about where we will be several months from now. Scene yesterday in Rick Perry's office:
Governor's Secretary: Governor, Governor Palin on line one for you.
RP: Thank you (picks up phone). Governor Perry speaking.
SP: Rick, Sarah. You know you're really gettin' under the skin of those folks up in Iowa, good on ya! It's always good to stir things up so they don't get complacent. That's why I'm callin'. I'm goin' to be up there tomorrow and I figured I'd drop hints about runnin' and get some attention by sayin' something that's controversial to the media.
RP: Thanks. What you planning on this time? Are you going to call Obama out on his college transcripts? I think that would be a really good thing...
SP: No, no, no, I'm saving that for you. You know that there will be that moment when your grades come up again. Just be ready. What I'm going to do is say something to make it look like we're feuding.
RP: Just like wrestling...
SP: Just like. Keeps them interested. Everybody else will become a side show. Even Mitt.
RP: I like that. Maybe I'll get on the cover of some of those supermarket magazines like you're on.
SP: That's the idea.
RP: Am I the bad guy?
SP: Heaven's no. At the end of it we'll explain it away as a misunderstanding or a miscommunication or something.
RP: Like that Billy Dean Mason song.
SP: I was thinking more like Three's Company. And... oh, sorry, gotta go, it's Piper's turn to drive the bus and I have to be in the front seat with her. 'Bye now.
RP: Goodbye.

OK, Allen, I accept your concession.
Now lets try full fledged speeches. Palin has delivered at least two of the most memorable and important political speeches of modern times: the VP acceptance speech and, my personal favorite, the Madison speech.
You know the Madison speech dont you? The one delivered in the freezing rain amidst howling union thugs that saved the Prosser election and, thusly, the whole state of Wisconsin.
You know: 'Were here, were clear, get used to it." 'Fight like a girl' 'Game on!'
Damn, she does have a way of going into other states and saving some incumbent's can, doesnt she?
Well, what two speeches of such national importance has Perry ever delivered? When has he shown such physical courage as did Palin in Wisconsin?
When he shot the coyote?
Was Perry in Wisconsin that day? How come the call didnt come out for salvation by SuperRick?
I'm waiting.

How is delivering a winning speech on election eve not an action?
How is demonstrating enormous political and physical courage not an action?
In politics, morons, words ARE actions.
So what I infer Jeff, is that you are ignorant and dont know the Madison speech. YouTube it fool. It saved the Madison reform movement and broke the back of the reactionary union opposition.
Further fruit: the epic Dem FAIL in the WI recall.
Many link here through HotAir, the preeminent conservative blog. HA covered all these topics very, very extensively, so your assertion that Madison is unknown is, shall we say, 'counterfactual'.
And when youre thru sputtering, answer the question: what are Perry's important speeches that made a difference?

"Well, I suggest that you look at job creation in Texas. That's what this election is going to be about."
That isn't necessarily going to work in his favor. Texas has averged third best job growth as far back as the eye can see...mainly because of geography. The media is going to spin it that if he brags that up the credit goes to Obama and his recovery efforts. They will point out that the 8.2% unemployment rate is not impressive....and it is not.

Palin's "thin" resume:
Decreased state spending by 9.5 percent over her predecessor (when the state was not in financial trouble)
Vetoed half a billion dollars in spending – the largest veto in the state’s history (when the state was not in financial trouble)
Reduced federal earmarks by 86 percent
Reduced the stateÂ’s Medicaid backlog by 83 percent
Put the state checkbook online
Greatly improved the stateÂ’s ethics laws (but left a loophole for unexpected ankle biters to attack her)
Opened up drilling for oil and gas at Point Thompson for the first time
Forward funded education, allowing school districts greater flexibility and predictability in their planning
Increased educational funding for children with special needs
Reformed AlaskaÂ’s public employee retirement system to make it solvent
Cleaned up AlaskaÂ’s huge corruption that involved state employees and oil companies
Created the Alaska Petroleum Integrity Office to oversee all aspects of energy development
Got the Alaska Gasoline Inducement Act (AGEA) approved, the largest private sector project in North American history
Negotiated very effectively with tough Big Oil executives, bringing them to heel
Got Alaska’s Clear and Equitable Share (ACES) approved – another important energy-related legislative victory for Governor Palin that aligned better the state’s energy tax structure with the state’s constitution, increased the state’s tax revenue, and encouraged greater oil and gas company capital development and investment in Alaska. Game on!

Palin is smart enough to wait as long as she can before announcing her candidacy to save a huge amount of money for her campaign. She can wait longer than anyone else, so she will.
You anti-Palin people are so predictable. Instead of focusing on real issues, you make adolescent, silly personal attacks on her and her supporters. Someday you may grow up.

Oh my, undead, I thought this was an open site.
Didnt know it was your private Rick Perry circle jerk. I guess you didnt mind so much when a few thousand of those 'pyscopaths' flooded that rally Sarah was good enough to give for ol SuperRick!, now did you?
Maybe you just saw those skills on display on Hannity just now.
And guys like you think C4P is cultic?

Is America ready for a mustached president, Mr. Bolton?
Could you tell us your position on gay marriage?
Why did you quit your ambassadorship rather than insisting you be nominated again?
How do you overcome being part of the (implied shudder) Bush administration?

I will support whoever ends up being the Republican nominee. Perry is my second choice, unless Bolton appears.
Question: Why isn't anyone asking Bolton if HE is "being coy" or "playing games?"

I'd actually like to thank you in particular. You are the quintessential Palinista -- big mouth, little information, and severe reality issues -- and you make her look positively awful.
Hope to see you around here a lot more. Your girl will have all the credibility of Ron Paul's ass hair after a few more threads of this.

You are hurting Palin far more than you are helping her. You may want to reconsider how you choose to promote your candidate of choice. I'm not a Palin supporter, but I do believe she deserves better than the meager, insulting offerings you're providing.

Perry was FOR the 2008 TARP bailout – wrote a letter on 10/1/08 with Joe Manchin supporting it!. At 9:07 PM later that day the US Senate voted for the TARP bailout. Then 2 months later Rick writes an WSJ op-ed on 12/2/08 with Mark Sanford opposing bailouts!!
You anti-Palin people are so predictable. Instead of focusing on real issues, you make childish, silly personal attacks on Palin and her supporters. Grow up.

I happen to be hoping for a Palin candidacy myself but even I find the commenters there somewhat nauseating. Palin is a smart, agile and (to me) immensely attractive political operator, but I'm not naive enough to be blind to the pitfalls in her path through both the primaries and (possibly) the general.
Anyway, when the C4P commenters come here they seem to see the smallest "yes, but" post as something that must be hysterically refuted for the rest of the day, because they don't seem to have been exposed to anything but syrup on their site.

there's virtually no difference between the Palinistas and the Paulbots, nothing, nada. Since the country has already had one experience with a cult like election, as soon as the comparisons become apparent, it's going to be a huge negative for Palin.
I don't know anyone who thinks she is presidential material. They think she's managing to turn her VP run into a fortune in personal appearances and a stint on Fox and that she would be smart to just keep raking in the cash as she cannot win a presidential election. Oddly enough, I find that guys don't like her. Since the guys around here carry on about her sexyness, I'm not sure why guys don't like her but when I bring her up I get "oh please, that woman is an idiot" and they shut me right down. In fairness they say the same for Michelle Bachman, but, not as often.
Posted by: at August 12, 2011 06:26 PM (k1rwm)
To be fair, how is it possible for her to avoid them? People who love her track her; people who hate her do, too. Seriously, what is she supposed to do? Sequester? And if she doesn't pause, she'll get slammed for being "distant" and out of touch... maybe even cowardly for not facing critics in a non-scripted moment. There's no end to spinning. If she cured cancer, the complaint would be, "What took you so long? If you hadn't been riding that bus all spring, you could've saved fifty more children!"
If anyone else had her drawing power, would they get the same critique?
Anyhoo, Palin's going to get attention whether she wants it or not. It's just the way it is. Sometimes she'll speak aloud intentionally and sometimes the MFM/critics will horn in on her. Can't say her behavior is necessarily melodramatic, but some will since there's material to mine. They need to cash in on Palin more than Palin needs to cash in on Palin.

"But on a conference call with reporters today, White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer noted that the president has a "special connection with Iowa," referring to the 2008 Democratic caucus win that kickstarted Obama's presidential campaign.
He added that there is "no magic to the fact that the straw poll is a few days before."
So he's swooping into Iowa the day after everything dies down. For his three day bus tour. What happened to the Martha's Vineyard vacation? As I was reading this, having listened to fox in the car and the fun they were having in Iowa, I said to my companion "no fun like this for the dems, they have the incumbent"....wonder if Obama is feeling this and is worried that like Iowa, and the upper midwest need to be reminded that he's still here and still campaigning.
Posted by: at August 12, 2011 06:37 PM (k1rwm)
That's a good point. Plus, she's sorta been vetted already. Maybe it missed some people's attention.
Let the others get their time and their vetting and fight the battle that is, not the one they wish it to be. How would Palin getting in yesterday help borderline candidates get some early air? Palin's pacing as needed. She's in a unique position. If she wins the primary, congratulate her and back her for the general. If she doesn't, congratulate her challenger and back him/her for the general.

Equating Palin's suppoert of TARP while she was McCain's running mate with Perry's support of TARP is just stupid. Then she campaigned for McCain because she felt she owed him that. Reasonable people can understand this. Perry has no excuse.
I had no intention of commenting when I looked at this thread. Then I saw all of the silly, unfair criticisms of Palin, and decided to respond.
Seeing the comments on this thread, an excellent case can be made that a Rick Perry cult is forming. The standard applied to Palin supporters applies to Perry supporters, too.

Perry is better than Romny because he hasn't put Obamacare into effect yet Romney never allowed illegals to qualify for in state tuition. So as far as I'm concerned there isn't a magnitude of difference between either of them, nor between them and McCain.
I am tired of the parade of RINOs the legacy GOP keeps sending us. I want a firm conservative, not another Obama Lite.
I held my nose and voted for McCain as the lesser of two evils, I won't sin again.

Right, being in Iowa at the exact same time as a GOP primary and the Iowa GOP strawpoll was unavoidable. Being at the Iowa State Fair at the exact same time as the declared GOP candidates was completely unavoidable.
Yep, nothing she could do about it.

It was reported that she did not announce she was going and notified no press. She didn't parade in and say, "Palin in Da House! Listen Bitches!" She's free to attend however she wishes and gets attention because she's Palin. How is that her fault exactly? Coincidentally, do you have a complaint of Perry and his gamesmanship? Problem? Not a problem? His "undermining" the slate was kosher? (I couldn't care less how he wants to run his campaign, BTW.)
Anyway, is she violating some unwritten rule about the space she must yield to politicians? Like a special Palin Etiquette Clause? She skipped the debates. Cameras and media out the ass and she passed. That's not enough though. She posts on Social Media outlets. That's too much. Or not enough. What's Palin's position? Is that what she said? Well, she should shut up because she's ign'ant. She simply cannot win. At this point, she could walk on water and people would point, "Eww, a bunion!"
She attended a well known State Fair trying to gauge the constituency and, likely, other candidates. Why, outrageous! Media whore! But no one else is. She should support my candidate and bring in money and backing but, by God, she shouldn't speak and should stay at least one county away at all times. Because of the distraction!
Ridiculous.

Undead:
You've demonstrated that you crawled out of a petri dish. Your brain power lacks the amperage to describe two reasons to vote for Perry. The fact that he is an open borders supporter and is a big spender who doubled Texas debt doesn't seem to concern you. Perry sounds like Bush to me.
But you sound like McCain to me, the kind of troll who can't wait to stick a knife into a conservative's back whenecer there's the chance in order to show his "moderation." So when Perry loses, just like all the other RINOs who the media and country clubbers have tried to foist on the GOP are imploding, like Pawlenty, Romney, Dole, McCain, Specter and Bush. you can creep down into that low rent apartment of yours and suck on your bong and stuff your face with refried beans crying about how no one respects English literature majors.
There isn't a nickel worth of difference between the losers yelling Perry, Perrry, Perry and the morons who were yelling Obama, Obama, Obama a few years ago.

Palin is doing a great job of writing the job description for the next president. Unfortunately I don't think she is interested in filling it but she is interested in having her say.

Rick Perry is not just a mild supporter of amnesty, he's hardcore - Perry called Tancredo a racist for wanting to enforce immigration law, Perry publicly opposed Arizona's immigration law (not the "right direction for Texas"), and he aggressivleey champions and brags about in-state tuition discounts to illegal aliens. Perry quotes: "educacion es el futuro, y si se puede., "President FoxÂ’s vision for an open border is a vision I embrace". Again, Perry is not a mild middle-of-the-road supporter of open borders, he is an aggressive advocate..
He also has a ton of skeletons in the closet over his ill-fated attempts to push a Trans TX corridor super-tollway construction project through to connect TX cities which he was forced to abandon.
Perry is an opportunist who can see which direction the political winds are blowing and for now, he's talking a conservative game in a forceful manner. I sure wish Sarah would run, as I think she's sincere and capable, and she's finally learned to play the media. She set them up for fools chasing her during the motorcycle rally and at the recent state fair. And as far as I'm concerned, she slam-dunked the media on their mocking of her 'death panel' statement with her response quoting Presidential advisor and brother of Rahm, Ezekial Emanual chapter and verse.
