My understanding, and I'm far from an expert on this is that when the House of Saud was consolidating its grip they cut a deal with the Wahhabi religious movement that they would do the politics and the Wahhabi would do the religion (though the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice).

Remember a lot of the Saudi royal family are pretty western when it comes to their vices and like to go to Europe and the US to play. Bin laden hates them because he thinks they are sellouts.

The Saudi Royal Family is huge so there are obviously some hard core Islamists in there but I think the main princes tend to be more practical than not.

So yeah, they are all technically Wahhabi but that doesn't mean a lot of what goes on there isn't a marriage of convenience open to change.

Again, perhaps someone who knows more can chime in.

I converted it to electric fans, put a cold air kit in it and an air lift kit for when I tow my 5th wheel.  I know, a 1/2 ton truck shouldn't really do that, but with the add-ons, it does Ok.  I don't tow far and still get over 10 MPG when towing it.

The Sauds have an uneasy give and take with the Wahhabist religious leaders, but are somewhat sheltered because of their position of the king being "the custodian of the two holy mosques." The problem in Saudi is the caste system-the royal family and some wealthy Saudi families at the top, and then every one else. The lowest caste are the workers, generally from the Philippiines, Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh. They are treated as slaves, and are brutalized-you hear about some cases rarely, but the abuses are constant and wide-spread. Since most of these groups are "encouraged" to become Muslim, they are fodder for Muslim Brotherhood types to indoctrinate. Which is what I think has been happening in the region. The MB has steadily, and stealthily been encouraging unrest in the countries surrounding Saudi-because that would be their last bastion, as it is home to the two most holy places in Islam. By gaining support in the countries around Saudi, they stand a better chance of winning in the Kingdom, and thus holding the holy places, and establishing their caliphate. But then, I could be wrong. Perhaps there are no public calls to depose the Saudi monarchy but it certainly is whispered privately.  Remember that Saudi Arabia is an evil empire imposed on the Arabs who live there.  For example, the Muslim Arabs in Jiddah object to the Saudi rule and the Wahhabi scum that come with it.  If you are not one of the Sauds, then you're nothing in Saudi Arabia, the only country named after a family.
