— Ace At Hot Air, Joe Scarborough wants an apology from Obama. Either he really believes that Bush's terrorist policies were evil and un-american, and yet is continuing that evil, or else he never believed it to begin with, and should apologize for conning the public.
This isn't just about inconsistency. It's about partisanship bordering on sedition and shallow, callow thinking run riot through our supposed leadership.
Matt Lewis notes this isn't just about cheap points:
n retrospect, it is painfully obvious that much of the anti-Bush rhetoric that helped propel Obama to the White House in 2008 was unwarranted, irresponsible, and transparently political. (Yes, itÂ’s water under the bridge, but setting the record straight on history is an important task for opinion leaders.)
It's not just setting the record straight. It's adopting the correct policy for the future.
Military Tribunals Are "Fair," Sayeth Eric Holder: Obama and his leftist minions castigated the War in Iraq as a war of choice -- a war that wasn't forced on us.
Eric Holder, in deciding to try KSM at a military tribunal, now spins such a tribunal as fair and (implicitly) as Constitutional.
Ergo, this is what the Constitution demands. This. This, and not more -- such as a civilian trial.
Given that that is the case -- and Holder has now declared it to be so -- can he now explain to me why he and his boss were choosing to grant KSM more lenient treatment and a greater chance of getting off than necessary?
KSM did not have a right to a civilian trial; Holder now says so. So trying him in a civilian court would have been a privilege. A privilege of choice.
Why? Why are we treating a mass-murderer (and a confessed one, by the way) more softly than our system requires?
Why were/are Obama and Holder so hell-bent to offer them more generous treatment than necessary?
Peter King: Holder Should Stand on Principle and Resign (And Do the Country a Favor): Obviously.

Well, maybe not that exact same point. What he said was "Obama said Bush was an idiot for his war policy, and now Obama is continuing Bush's idiotic policy. Either Obama's a bigger idiot for doing so, or someone owes Bush an apology."
Or words to that effect.

Actually, they were all on board with the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq until we actually went in, then they figured out they could score some of that sweet Code Pink money and talking points in the next election cycle. Then they bent themselves into pretzels trying to deny that they were ever in favor of it.

They voted for the polar opposite of Bush, and that's exactly what they got. He presidents by hind-site. He knows nothing, does what he wants, takes the temperature of the response, then acts accordingly. It's much like a child. Children are very experimental and when they fuck up, they usually learn and move forward.

The "blame Bush" schtick is wearing a little thin at this juncture, pal.
But even stipulating for the sake of stupidity that its all Bush's fault, why is Obama not following up on his campaign promises to change things?
If Obama wasn't outright lying during his campaign about what he wanted to do, didn't he show a considerable lack of understanding of political reality to make a whole bunch of promises he couldn't keep?

Is there anything left that Obama and the Left demonized Bush for, that Obama hasn't done himself, and then some? There must be sime small ones, but it seems like he's got the biggies covered:
1) Iraq - Violated campaign promise, coasting on what Bush did. Started his own little war without Congressional approval or even consultation.
2) Afghanistan - Copied Bush's "surge". Still a quagmire. OBL still on the loose.
3) Economy - Continued the Bush tax cuts that he claimed had caused the recession.
4) Torture - Continues "rendition" (although I guess waterboarding is out).
5) Transparency - Won't even so much as release his birth certificate.
6) Abu Graib - has an even worse scandal, that's also not the President's fault.
7) Gitmo - still open for business! Supposedly, though, if somebody there is acquitted, we'll keep 'em locked up anyway.
Deficits - tripled!
And that's without thinking too hard.

Can someone in WI explain this last sentence to me please?
I know in Ohio you can register to vote and then vote early! How does WI work? Is WI the same? If so, looks like the Dems are up to their old tricks:
The Wisconsin Supreme Court race between incumbent Justice David Prosser and Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg is expected to draw voters looking to use the election into a referendum on the polarizing union-rights law.
Richard Luetschwager, a retired union steelworker from Wausau, said he suspects a lot of people who are not typically interested in voting will head to the polls to make a statement about Gov. Scott Walker.
Luetschwager, 62, voted for Kloppenburg, not only for political reasons, but because he said Walker has no integrity in office and he worries anyone with similar political views may act the same way.
“I think it’s due time we all took special care (to vote) because I certainly don’t agree with what the governor did,” he said. “I think anyone who thinks like he does will rule like him.”
At The Rose Garden, voting site for District Nos. 10 and 11, chief inspector Sheryl Hemp said the site had about 210 voters a littler after 11 a.m. “It’s busier than in February,” she said.
She said there was about two to three times as many new registrants this morning compared to other elections.Posted by: momma at April 05, 2011 11:54 AM (penCf)

Let us not neglect to mention that - despite Obama's power to stop the oceans from rising - that he was not able to stop the earthquake in Japan, or the subsequent tsunami. Which we can only assume were both George W. Bush's fault.
So what good was elected this guy?...
Posted by: Optimizer at April 05, 2011 11:56 AM (2lTU+)
And just think, after reading that, the left would have you believe that tightening voting laws is specifically to disenfranchise minorities. Instead of, you know, making sure elections are carried out justly.

I think you're on to something. I'll make the impending roll even easier:
1. Obama, with deep regret and lots of nasty things to say, goes grudging along with the Republican "hostage takers".
2. Obama for America, MFM, and the rest of the usual suspects praise Obama for his bi-partisanship, omnipotence, and benevolence in his cooperation with the Hitler-like Republicans, while stating repeatedly and often that Republicans promised a chicken in every pot, a Volt in every driveway, a Skittle-Shitting Unicorn in every living room, next to the free flatscreen, etc.
3. Around Fall of 2011, when everyone is pissed that shit still sucks and no one got the goodies that the MFM promised, Obama for America, MFM, and the rest of the usual suspects begin the gripe campaign about how Republican Extremists held America hostage and make up an endless stream of 24/7 stories about grandma eating cat food and videos of mass graves and mud huts full of starving Ethiopian children- except the video is labeled- LIVE footage from New Orleans Boehnervilles
4. Obama swoops in after his Spring Break 2012 vacation, wearing a cape with his goatse symbol on it, with his "John Galt" plan to save us from evil Republicans- a plan that no one has ever seen and the only thing anyone knows about it is adjectives like, "Heroic", "Unprecedented", "New Hope of Change", etc.
5. John McCain and Lindsey Graham will go on TV and apologize for making Obama feel butt hurt and say that there is nothing to fear from an Obama second term.

A point I've been thinking about lately. Not really on topic.
Both liberals and conservatives refer to those who favor the other side as "stupid". Liberals take it a step further, saying that the reason that anyone votes for the GOP is that their messaging is better; that they are able to sell inferior policies with better messages.
Which leads liberals to think they too can sell shitty policies, if only they can sell them properly. It also leads to liberals calling out constituents and potential constiuents as stupid.
We need to stop thinking that the people on the other side are somehow tricked by liberal spin. They're not. They're acting out of
1) complete ignorance or
2) self-interest.
Nobody seriously believes liberal spin, except for those who have a vested interest in doing so.

The thing is, a President gets a "honeymoon" of sorts for about two years
Really? I know I wasn't really paying attention back then, but I distinctly remember Bush being attacked from Day 1 (screams of his illegitimacy and being selected not elected). He got a short reprieve right after 9/11, but maybe just a week or so before people were harping on his "My Pet Goat Moment" and the anti-war movement ratcheted up against going into Afghanistan. (I remember being asked to sign the ANSER petition against it, which I declined to do). Thing is, Democrats are always held to a much lower standard than Republicans, and Obama's been particularly coddled and promoted by the MFM. It's completely unprecedented.

We peons can't do much about Maobama until Nov 2012. but we can go to work on that little slice of the 52% we all know. they did the same thing Obama did. Bush was a war criminal; and Obama is a brave leader. Make them eat their words. They are socialist frauds.

116 The libtards I run with who constantly bitched about the Iraq war haven't said a word about Libya.
My own experience is that when Libya is brought up they immediately start into Bush-bashing. When you say, "That's nice, but Bush left office a long time ago - what about Obama and this Libya thing?" they will continue with the Bush-bashing cliche. It's actually pretty funny to witness.
Another thing they do is complain about the cost of Libya. Now the DoD spends $2B a DAY, normally, but suddenly $0.5B is all-important. Never mind that Federal spending is something like $2500.0B per year, with $1000.0B+ in deficit spending - that they deny is a crisis. I figure they feel betrayed by Obama, but just can't bring themselves to criticize him in a substantive way.

That's a good one, so here's another. My brother says that the Air Force Times "caters to" conservative military people.
These guys remind me of a joke where St. Peter shows someone new around Heaven, and instructs them to be quiet as they approach a certain section. (Apologies to anyone who knows that joke, and doesn't care for being on the wrong end of it.) The point is about people who live in their own little world, not recognizing that there people out there who look at things differently. In our case, they even do this, while claiming to be "intellectual".

It probably won't be three debates, and it will be probably be in a highly controlled forum, with no possible surprises, but Obama will definitely debate the Republican nominee.

As a member of the Church of Christ, I happen to think it's hilarious.
For those who don't know, the short version is St. Peter takes this newly ascended soul on the tour, showing him where the different denominations get together. They're all partying and having fun. Then they get to a little section that's all somber and quiet, and the newbie asks "Whose place is this?"
St. Peter responds, "SHHH! That's the Church of Christ. They don't think anyone else is here."

Frankly, I think Obama, sucked at the Presidential debates (all of them). Unfortunately, this wasn't quite as apparent as it could have been since McCain was pretty lousy too.
A knowledgeable and skilled debater could probably make mincemeat of Obama in a "real" debate, and there are at least several of the current crop of potential Republican nominees who could do it, I think.
Unlike the last debates, where Obama could basically conjure up any fantasy he liked, this time, he'll actually have to respond to specific items from his record during his first term.

But your general point is good.
Debates are mostly good theater for political junkies. They sometimes produce good sound bites ("You're no Jack Kennedy". . . "I won't make an issue of my opponent's youth and inexperience").
But in terms of truly undecided voters listening in, then making up their mind solely or even largely based on what said in the debates. . .there really can't be many times where that actually applies.
