Senate Passes Short Term Funding Punt
— Dave in Texas

Somebody smarter than me can splain this I'll bet.

As a condition for GOP support of the payroll tax measure, Obama has to accept a provision that forces him to decide within 60 days whether to approve or reject a proposed a Canada-to-Texas oil pipeline that promises thousands of jobs.

Seems like a punt to me... not really a win, just postponing.

So anyway, there's a game tonight, get a pick in.

Its pretty simple... the Repubs are once more playing politics... which is all they do.

They will force Obama to reject the pipeline, looking for an issue for the next campaign... instead of just forcing the F'n pipeline so it can be built.

They, as are many here, are more interested in scoring political points instead of doing what is really needed to Fix stuff...

49 Obama's a fucking terrible poker player anyways. "Don't call my bluff." People only say that only when they know the other player has something to lose. In this case, the Republican Party has nothing to lose by making Obama make a decision putting all the responsibility on Obama alone. He can either approve (Republicans Win/Democrats gain nothing) or Veto or Reject it (Republicans Win, Democrats loses bad). It was a good move by whoever inserted the language to force Obama to decide. As for the light bulb ban, I'm glad that it's been bumped up for at least another 6 months.

The omnibus appropriates money which will go towards funding abortions. As for the payroll tax holiday bill, Reid suddenly and deliberately changed the voting order, so they received the score while they were voting.

64 It's not a cave because it gives Obama two choices: He can either kill the Keystone Pipeline, and thus show the nation how he doesn't care about jobs and is just a stereotypical, out-of-touch liberal; or, he can give in and allow the pipeline.

Basically what it does it forces Obama to choose about vetoing the pipeline without allowing him the chance to copout to the environmentalists by telling them that they held the tax cuts hostage.

It's genius. He either turns off his base or he turns off America.

Well, if things have slowed down, letÂ’s see whatÂ’s in the Rambler Family Chronicles for this date.

In 1903, Rambler cousins Orville and Wilbur Wright went for a plane ride near Kitty Hawk, NC.  Little known fact:  Orville made Wilbur go through a pat down search.  Wilbur would say later that he felt violated.

In 1862, Rambler cousin Ulysses S. Grant expelled all Jews from Tennessee, Kentucky and Mississippi on the belief they were profiteering in cotton. Little known fact:  Ron Paul was a medic in GrantÂ’s army.

I was not impressed really with this provision, BUT it really doesn't matter.  If Barry allowed it to continue, the libtard ecoshitwads would sue wherever they could find a federal judge to block the pipeline and delay it until the Canucks couldn't wait anymore.

So, if this latest manuever pisses off Obarky's base, all the better, but really it means little because without the WH and majorities in the Congress, it won't mean jack.  Overwhelming pressure must be applied from above to get something like this pipeline built and OVERCOME the libtard litigious machine.

DOE and EPA must be severely handcuffed/and or ebolished... ie, Perry!

100 It's like this, we put in a GOP House in 2010 to stop Obama from spending like he's in cheat mode on SimSCOAMF while we, as a country, didn't give the GOP the Senate because we nominated Christine O'donnell and because the GOP is ok with not policing election fraud. You have to consider the options as a result of the bill becoming law.

1. Obama approves it
Unions pay off the Dems that backed it while Dems blame the Obama for the approval and the Reps for making them include it in the first place to win back the enviroweenies.
The Reps claim credit for including it and wait for the next bribe from the Dems to extend the payroll tax holiday.

2. Obama rejects it
Dems blame Obama for rejecting it to buy back union support for them while still blaming the Reps for forcing them to put it in the first place to keep the enviroweenies giving them money.
Reps blame Obama for rejecting it crushing jobs, then demand twice the bribe for approving the next extension.

In both cases it is win-win for the Congresscritters, and only Obama has to pay the price.
Would House Dems throw Obama under the bus like that at this point?
A better question is how many times they will back up over him after they do.

"One source said Boehner spoke approvingly of the deal as a win for the GOP but that three other members of the leadership team - Majority Leader Eric Cantor (Va.), Whip Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) and Conference Chairman Jeb Hensarling (Tex.) - all criticized it. The source said that with the exception of Reps. Tom Cole (Okla.) and Walter Jones (N.C.), Boehner was the only person on the call to praise the deal.

No plans for a vote next week were announced.

A GOP leadership aide said Boehner laid out three options for the House: accept the Senate bill, go to a conference committee to reconcile the broader House legislation with the Senate bill or amend the Senate bill and send it back."

And another thing, to prevent display of misplaced hardware in the future I would recommend painting the exterior of all hardware with cartoons of muhammad in all sorts of poses depicting daily life in a muslim country; goats, kids and so on. The feelings of rage inspired by the cartoons should be enough to make certain that whatever was not destroyed in the crash of the drone will be destroyed by the jihadi that finds the artistically camouflaged drone.

145 I thought the benefit of including the keystone xl pipeline was that it is a fish or cut bait moment for 0. The onus of accepting or rejecting the pipeline is squarely placed on him; the buck stops with him for once. He cannot punt the decision until after the election. Yes he may still kill the pipeline but then he is on record as having killed the pipeline. If he does nothing / tries to just vote present the pipeline goes ahead. So, the pipeline goes ahead unless he kills it. He may kill it but then he is on the record as having killed it which is an unpalatable position to be in in this economic environment and which will not exactly endear him to the unions that would have received a large share of the jobs the pipeline generated. If he does not kill it then he angers his lefty moonbat base. 0 now has t othrow someone under the bus - unions or environuts. There is also the additional benefit that whichever party is bussed by 0 is likelly to give less financial support during the coming election; instead of getting lots of support from unions and environuts wit the hope that he would favor them in the decision after being reelected. I am not a huge Boehner fan and I am skeptical of all politicians, however, I am inclined to think he is a reasonably shrewd player and knows how to run the game he is playing with 0.

157 They will force Obama to reject the pipeline, looking for an issue for the next campaign... instead of just forcing the F'n pipeline so it can be built.

I don't think he can afford to reject it - the number one concern of both sides of the electorate is jobs.  If he rejects it he's going to be playing against that concern.  It gives the Republicans magazine full of silver bullets.

This is actually a pretty smart move by Boener and Co.  If the provision just allows the pipeline directly, then the Democrats don't take the hit with the greens.  This way Obama can't take their money and shaft them after the election like he was planning.

Plus, when someone is getting their head stomped, your lady friend will squeal, close her eyes, and bury her head in your shoulder. That gives you the perfect time to grab a boob or something.

I thought I'd bought a Macaroni Grill gift cert. for my dad and step-mom a couple years ago, but I can't find the email receipt for it, so I'm wondering if it was a diff. place. Searched for "gift card" and found an email saying they get Starbucks ones a lot from another family member.

There are some pretty crystal ornaments out there...even if they hate it, it's small enough to not bother them!

Will probably send coffee from the place back home they miss...I like sending food because it gets eaten up or thrown out and doesn't take up space!

Now 0 is the one making the decision, he cannot blame congress, the house, the republicans, tea partiers, for the decision to build the pipeline to not build the pipeline. The pipeline is going to get built eventually anyway - it is a matter of time and all 0 is able to do is delay. Some actors choose to retain the accent they are using for a part as long as they are on-set, so he must have been playing an American. Bale is Welsh.

Yeah, but the Canadians are understandably hopping mad and could as easily build a pipeline to their Pacific coast to sell the oil to China. Which makes all the environmental arguments against it an utter joke. As usual, all American environuts do is export the (potential, in this case) pollution. I am of the opinion that one of the good things about the state of affairs, globally, is that it does draw back the curtain on the popular lies and it does force people to confront reality. one of the realities they ma be forced to confront is the nature of china. i think the sinophiles that have inserted themselves throughout our society and have argued that china is a harmless country that should not be considered a threat are having and will have a harder time as china becomes more belligerent and demonstrates its true colors in its dealings with it neighbors in the south china sea and its interpretation of law of the sea matters. the point of that is, if you were canada, as much as you hate the great satan to your south, even if you are a liberal / communist, quebecois, who would you prefer to cast you lot with and be dependent upon china or America? if you had to choose who would you rather? I do not believe anyone who is not a dyed in the wool communist would choose to be at the mercy of china instead of America.
