Senate Rejects Disaster Relief Bill
— Ace

The House passed a bill, cutting "green energy" boondoggles in order to pay for more disaster relief.

The Senate rejected it.

Given the current debt crisis and the current Solyndra scandal, is there any reason to back more green energy spending apart from purest ideology and wanting to seem "tough" for the base?

No, there is not.

And yet the media cheers this -- or, at least, does not accuse the Democrats of the refusal-to-compromise-for-the-good-of-America attitude that was so awful just two months ago.

2 Projected spin: Republicans gutted a bill for their special interests, and it would be irresponsible to pass a bill that cut much needed funding for jobs at this time.

Harry Reid is a crook and should be perp-walked out of the Senate, and Bitch McConnell is a eunuch. I wouldn't piss on the other Senators if my bladder was full and their pants were on fire.

31 Steyn today raised an interesting point, that Oblamer has declared a new federal disaster every two days. So, now we know why the libs have been very insistent on disaster spending, it's a stealth increase in federal spending (then again, without a budget, all increases have been stealthy) that has a nice sounding cover name, oh what about the (if I knew how to cross things out, I mean I do know how to do so in HTML, but I have no idea what pixuy usess) children, it's now the disasterssseW1@12@1112 Obama is scary good at maxing out executive power to bypass congress, the courts, and the people. Now we know why the smugs have been blathering on about disaster money. They're so interconnected, like they all get the same newsletter about what to talk about.

Oh, you think Solyndra was fun? This, from Laobserved...

The U.S. government's $535 million bet on solar-energy darling Solyndra, Inc. was big. But LA Observed has learned that the feds have bet an even bigger pile of taxpayer chips on another green energy project in California - that would be BrightSource Energy, Inc.'s Ivanpah solar power farm in the Mojave Desert. That bet: $1.6 billion.

This from a liberal website. But even he can't cover up how bad this is about to be.

You guys will love it. The article link is on the top left side.

47 The Perry Romney difference is becoming small, but I think that a Perry administration will not try to grab my guns as fast as I know a Romney administration will!
As for other details, Obaromneycare is a done deal (too many palms have already been greased), Social Security will not be changed in any way until it actually goes bankrupt (too many beneficiaries that might be scared by the truth), illegals will continue to flood this country (Dems need voters and rich RINO businessmen need poolboys and landscapers that work off the books) and AGW will destroy our energy industry (too easy to responsibly funnel public money to AGW R & D cronies).

63 Just think about that, the gumint lost a half billion dollars. To get a $500 mil investment in the real world (i.e., non corrupt America before Obama), you'd probably need to convince about 50 millionaires to pledge about $10 million of their hard earned money a piece, showing the books and the technology and a clear plan. Under Obama, meh, it's just money. The invisible man is suffocating.

Posted by: joeindc44 at September 23, 2011 12:32 PM (QxSug)

64 Simple fact is the lefty MSM is so far in the Democrats tank that they've constructed an underwater city complete with aquaculture farming and giant glass domes and are on their third generation of specially inbred liberal reporters who have never seen land not covered by water. So, GOP, finally spend all that sweet donor money to buy a clue and treat the MSM as hostile propaganda and not just "reporters." I know you don't want to be mean. But you have to be mean.
