Beating Harry Reid, majority leader in the Senate in a den of SEIU graft and thievery, would have been hard for pretty much anybody.
Not that she's a great candidate or anything, but knocking off Reid was going to be tough for anybody.

2010 NV Senate election results
Reid: 362K
Angle: 321K
okay, here's why Sharron Angle will win.
District 2 is pretty much all of NV except for most of Clark county.
Reid won 3 counties in 2010, Clark, Washoe, and Mineral.
Clark county (Las Vegas) was what won it for Reid; he had his biggest victory margin in that county (+61K). Mineral, for instance, the margin was only +33 votes. And in Washoe, Reid won by 5 points, or +7K votes.
So the rest of the counties included in the district, besides Mineral and Washoe, like Sharron Angle enough to vote for her.

Or they did in 2010 at least. Who knows if it will be the same in 2012. Though I don't think they'll end up with a Democrat with as high a name recognition as Reid, so she will have that going for her.

When she lost against Heller it was a five way race and he only beat her by 420 votes. They each got 24k and Dawn Gibbons got 17k+ so I wouldn't discount her chances so readily. She ran against Bill Raggio (R) for the State Senate who has had his nose in the trough of NV politics since the mid 50's, he came out against her and supported Reid in the 2010 race. Soon after the election the NV GOP pretty much ran his traitorous ass out of politics. She lost Washoe County with the help of Reno's RINO Mayor Bob Cashell I don't think that set to well with folks either.

Oh, by the way if anybody cares. The new fourth district will still be drawn around the southern population centers and in such a fashion as to give Democrats an edge. It will reduce the Democrats from the 2D district for that reason. The new 2D district will no longer represent a big chunk of Clark county or the parts of Nye and Lincoln co's around Mesquite and Indian Springs. So instead of covering a geographical area of say 106k square miles it'll only cover maybe 95-96k. If the Dems get their way the percntage lead for them will be as follows; CD-1 12.96%, CD-3 16.38%, CD-4 33.48%.
Another thing to look at is that the last time redistricting occured there was a debate on whether to increase the size of the legislature. According to the state constitution we can still create 12 seats. If the Dems want to increase their majorities now would be the time because they would be the ones drawing the state districts.
