Sorry About The Comments
— Pixy Misa

We had a DDoS attack coming (mostly) from Turkey targeting the comments server. Should be blocked now, but there may be some hiccups if someone in that part of the world manages to find an unblocked IP address.

7 It wasn't a particularly big attack, but it was aimed directly at the New Comments Thingy.

8 I speak a little Turkish . . . Gobble gobble.

9 Can this be considered a terrorist attack? Where's Vlad the Impaler when we need him?

Posted by: hobbes at March 08, 2011 12:57 AM (WcEeZ)

10 Turkey is a muslim country so your information is incorrect.  They have a religion of peace and would never do stuff like terrorist or DOS attacks on America.

Check again, it might have been that mighty warlock Sheen.  I'd help, but I have an early tee time and have to do my affirmations to the mirror and eat my waffle.

18 Hi, beanervt. Just checking in before bed to see how the ol' blog is doing. 2 feet of snow in March? I guess it's the in-like-a-lion schtick again. Here we had a bitter wind blow out the last of a storm today, but tomorrow should be good painting weather. We had a freeze last week, rare for here this time of year, that made all half my masking tape come loose. But no snow here. I think Rum said she had some.

Well, off to bed.

25 Pixy,

The "Hatch Proposes Committee of Un-Appropriations?" had a bunch of comments chewed up. Could be happening in other threads, too. You may need to check the AoSHQ comment database to see what, if anything, was compromised.

Or not. Sometimes less is more... especially from morons.

DDOS attack, though, that makes me happy.

27 I suspect that couple from the Citibank commercial who moved to Istanbul but still miss their beloved Mets. Likely collaborateurs. We ought to invade and force them to change the name back to Constantinople.

28 So this site was getting hit with repeated and interminable rebroadcasts of The Cairo Speech via Turkish servers?

31 Okay. Welcome to Tuesday, Morons/'ettes. Monday is behind you, you might get something done today, and spring is coming, all indications to the contrary. Average price of gas in my neck of the woods: $3.516/gal. Chin up and all that.

ya, 6º F with 2' foot of new snow sure don't make it seem like it's coming..

33 The comments were this close to going out forever. But there was one man who taught us how to fight, to sockpuppet laptop battery guy, to smash those lace wig motherfuckers into junk. He turned it around. He brought us back from the brink. His name is Misa. Frank Misa. YOUR SON, Pixy. Your unborn son.

Last night we said a great many things. You said I was to do the commenting for both of us. Well, I've done a lot of it since then, and it all adds up to one thing: you're getting in that boat and rowing to Turkey.  We'll always have Spam.  It doesn't take much to see that the hundred sock puppets of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans on this crazy blog. Someday you'll understand

36 Interesting. Diary of Daedalus reports LGF was attacked yesterday, and DOD last night. Barrett Brown claimed responsibility (or at least knowledge of who did it, and claims he put them up to it).

Related?

37 could you make it so that the name cookie is updated with a page refresh? That would help with sock mishaps. Hell no. Sock mishaps are part of the AoS charm. Maybe "charm" isn't the right word. "Redolence" or "Stench" maybe.

39 You've just had a lesson about how easy it is to hit the IntarW3bz Master Switch. Is there an app called "Don't Get Cocky, Kid?"

I write out checks and put a stamp on the envelope. There's a phone in the kitchen with a dial on it. Connected to a copper wire. No matter how much seven-six-two you have buried in the back yard, everybody needs a Little-Bit-of-Shit-Almost-Hits-the-Fan List.
