Stanley Cup Final Game 3
— DrewM

8pm Eastern on Versus.

Boston is down 2-0 in what's been a close series so far.

Two ways of looking at it...

1- Bruins have shown they can hang with the best team in the league in their own building. Coming home to Boston should help them get over the hump.

2- Bruins have thrown everything they have at the Canucks and it hasn't been good enough.

Tonight we find out if we have a series or just marking time until an inevitable Canucks championship.

4 I'll probably miss at least the first period cutting the grass, but it should be a good one!

So far, not at all like the NCAAs where it was a great tournament capped with a lousy Finals --Stanley Cup Playoffs have been great all the way through.

5 Two things

1) Don't count out a Boston team after two games

2) The subway will be crowded tonight

9 Seriously, starting with offsides, seriously, what is this a test?

Posted by: alexthechick at June 06, 2011 04:16 PM (sf+iw)

10 Problem is, Bruins have been a better road team. They dropped the first 2 home playoff games in round 1 to the Habs and then took the next 2 games in Montreal. So...to sit your best skilled player (#19 Seguin) for (#22 Thornton) is a big risk. If Claude Julien loses tonight the calls for his head will be loud and I'll be leading it.

Posted by: TheBigOldDog at June 06, 2011 04:18 PM (H02kX)

11 I don't see the Bruins having a chance at winning more than one game in this series.

Posted by: garrett at June 06, 2011 04:18 PM (VluVS)

12 garrett, seriously? Did you watch the first 2 games? A bounce of the puck the other way and there up 2 rather than down 2. Vancouver at least knows that.

Posted by: TheBigOldDog at June 06, 2011 04:20 PM (H02kX)

13 That hit was brutal!

Posted by: KennyM at June 06, 2011 04:25 PM (x1NR6)

14

seriously? Did you watch the first 2 games?

I watched the majority of the games each team played this year.

Directv with the NHL Center Ice package.  I have no life.  When it is Hockey season, I watch Hockey to the exclusion of most everything.

I am impressed Boston made it this far, and managed to stay as close in the first two games...and I don't think they can handle Vancouver's road game.

Boston just got a huge gift with that misconduct call...

but, Vancouver will keep getting better as the series goes on.

A good coach never lets his ego get in the way of winning games and he always plays the players who give the team the best chance of winning. That's an alien concept to CLODE CLOUSEAU. Recchi can't even skate anymore and CC keeps sending him out there and putting him on the PP. errrrr

This is why I disagree with the miconduct penalty.   Let the Bruins take it out on Rome.  The league can decide to suspend for additional games (or not), later.

I'd rather the Player that made the bad hit take the injury.  This encourages retaliation against a skills player.

127 OMG he really turns to jello. Where's his head going to be next game? What a mistake not pulling him earlier.

128 Get that "Dirty Water" queued up.

129 I've never seen a team roll over like this in the Finals. Ever. This is embarrassing to see, and I want the Bruins to win. The Canucks should be ashamed.

130 Luongo's neck is probably burnt from the red light being on all night.

131

Should have pulled Lou at the 3rd goal.

I think they might need to give Schneider the start for Game 4.

I would.

132 I believe that some unwritten rules are being broken at this point.

Better than written rules not being enforced and then being mocked by the team let off the hook the very next game.

--Yeah, I was just saying earlier that the Finals have not disappointed given the high level of play for the rest of the Playoffs.  Still, if it goes to 7 all will be forgiven.

I desperately want the NBA and NHL to go the distance since I'm cynical about the NFL starting on time.

134 I'm a Rangers fan and saw some pretty bad hockey at times this season but never...NEVER that kind of bullshit quitting.

Torts would have ripped someone's (Sean Avery) head off their fucking shoulders on the bench if they ever dared to play that way.

135 Game 4 is going to be very interesting.

Do the Canucks rebound and take it to the Bruins or....do the Bruins keep on running.

By talent, I'd say Canucks bounce back but the lack of heart and pride displayed in that 3rd period makes me think the Bs are back.

136  #78 and #119; Oh Yeah. Seemed like Luongo just fell asleep at the wheel at the end. Will make the next game fun to watch; at least Thomas didn't get smoked WAAAY out of the blue zone tonight.

137 As they say in Boston that was wicked bizzaah.

138 Wanna bet JR rips the Canucks to shit in the post game? Should be fun.

Rome's hit on Horton was gutless crap and it set the tone for the rest of the team tonight.

Dunno. They may be mentally damaged after this, especially Luongo and the Bs were pushed passed their limit. Now they hate Van as much or more than they hate the Habs. It'll be fun to find out.

140 The Canucks' hotel needs to put Luongo on suicide watch.

141 tmi3rd, shared two season tickets with friends and I loves me some Preds !! I'll talk hockey with anyone who'll listen. We're looking to sign Weber and Rinne again, and hopefully keep the bulk of the team together. Mr Grasshopper is rooting for Vancouver, but I am having a hard time; especially after Mr Rome's lil' love tap tonight. He's a thug.

142 >>88 What a fucking joke these officials are. Huh? After the first seven minutes of the third, when the score got out of hand, it turned into a mens' league game. Same [stuff] you see on any rink at 10:30: late hits, guys coming in high and blatantly not thinking about the puck (good players can play dirty and not look like they are), and guys getting chippy every whistle. Every Whistle. Now those coaches and those players have played enough hockey to know exactly what the officials have to do in this situation, and what they're gonna do in this situation. Cause it's what every ref does at that point where the players stop playing the game: dump a couple of guys to get everyone's attention, and then keep dumping guys until the teams start playing hockey again instead of trying to settle scores from one perceived slight or another. This is not like Andy Van Hellemond swallowing his whistle in the third of a playoff game and letting the holding and interference go: it's keeping the game under control and preventing the big altercation from happening. BTW, the TV angle on the linesmen breaking up the Sedin-Ference altercation showed perfectly how you do the job: wrapping up the players' arms so they can't throw any more punches, then levering them apart. If you ever have to break up a bar fight, take some lessons from that video.

143 Grasshopper, I used to work for Channel 5 in Nashville. One night, before Chevy Sports Central, a couple of the guys showed up for the show (Vern Fiddler and Shea Weber), loaded down with pizza boxes. "What's this?" "Well, the overnight guys have got to eat, don't they?" Great guys.
