— Ace It's clear this is not an "educational" mission but a pure advocacy mission for the Democratic Party.
Says who? Says MMFA founder (or whatever) David Brock, as reported by Douglas Shoen, a Democrat himself. Over breakfast Brock made it clear their IRS status was a fraud:
I had breakfast with Media Matters founder David Brock about 6 months ago to talk about his efforts to strengthen the Democratic party– efforts that I fully support and believe are necessary.Brock was compelling in arguing that he would like to see the Democratic Party develop a different, more inclusive message for the 2012 election, recognizing that the Party in large part, had failed in 2010 because they did not present a positive and affirmative case to the electorate– an argument that I could only agree with.
Brock also made clear that he saw his mission to try to the best of his ability to counteract Republican fundraising efforts, that had frankly exceeded in substance and sophistication, those of the DemocratsÂ…
Brock also made it clear to me that his focus was on the party, and providing and creating a level playing field for it and its advocates, rather than positioning himself as exclusively or even primarily as a media critic.
George Soros is an extremely rich man. He can take the hit.
The fact that he refuses to do so speaks ill of him, as it speaks ill of everyone involved in this fraud on the taxpaying public.
As they agitate for higher taxes, they perpetrate a fraud to avoid taxes themselves.

That is because the driving force behind liberalism/leftism is greed. DOn't ever let them tell you differently.

I'm really tired and when I saw the headline I missed the "F" and was momentarily confused as to why Ace was upset about MMA. And also why they would be tax exempt.
These demoncrat media type folks seem more emboldened than ever to admit their evildoings. (I am picturing the table of bad guys in Austin Powers) what's up with that?

There is no fraud.
They simply omit that they feel that taxes are for the little people.

I watched an O'Reilly rerun at 5am this morning (so take this with a BIG grain of salt as I was still half asleep...) but they discussed this and said it was given exemption status under W.
Yeah, I don't know.

It's not Bush's fault. If MM applied for tax exempt status - they must have used all the tricks and lies to do it. Democrats lie.

Pretty much. When they made their request the language they used to describe the organization was written so broadly and in such a neutral manner (ie, "analyzing media bias"), it would have become a partisan affair had the W IRS denied it.

Maybe Ace can file as a 501(C)(3). Feel like donating some Val-u-rite to some starving children or a hobo kidney to a needy hospital?

Yeah, Soros has the money to pay the taxes. But it's a double hit - paying the taxes, and the PR hit of losing the fig leaf of tax-exempt status. It gets more expensive to run, and he gets less value for the money.
He might just fund a new operation with operatives who are more circumspect. What he won't do of course, is cut this crap out.

How did Congressman West vote?
Posted by: Romeo13 at June 24, 2011 10:59 AM (NtXW4)
A small tax-exempt political group with ties to wealthy liberals like billionaire financier George Soros has quietly helped elect 11 reform-minded progressive Democrats as secretaries of state to oversee the election process in battleground states and keep Republican “political operatives from deciding who can vote and how those votes are counted.”
Known as the Secretary of State Project (SOSP), the organization was formed by liberal activists in 2006 to put Democrats in charge of state election offices, where key decisions often are made in close races on which ballots are counted and which are not.

So Michelle Bachman voted to continue funding for Libya. Won't be voting for her.
This argument about what to do in Libya deserves its own thread.

My solution - strike ALL tax exempt organizations, except Churches and hospitals. Then let any org wishing to be readmitted to the club, be voted on by Congress, one org, at a time. Let's get it on the record. Clearly. No conflicting other orgs voted on at the same time.
We do have a country killing deficit to consider. Right?
