— Ace I was asked about this in an email. By like six people. Since I've by now fully expressed my thinking across six different emails, might as well synthesize them and publish them for everyone else.
There's a lot of legitimate speculation about PatriotUSA76.
And then there is some paranoia.
I didn't want to deal with this because it doesn't matter to the central story, but since everyone's talking about it, here's me talking about it.
I have heard a lot of possibilities floated about who PatriotUSA76 really is.
Here is a sampling of the possibilities:
1. PatrioutUSA76 is precisely what he appears to be: A determined conservative partisan who hated Weiner and followed him on Twitter because he 1, hated him, and 2, noticed that Weiner seemed to be following a lot of young, cute girls, and found this suspicious. As Film Ladd (perhaps unfairly, perhaps fairly) terms it, a bit of a "cyberstalker." And yet, only that -- a boring axe to grind combined with time to waste.
2. Jilted ex-girlfriend who has a penis picture from prior relationship and hacked the account. Note carefully: This is the only possibility that really implicates a "hacker" claim or comes close to exonerating Weiner. Oddly enough, this just happens to be the one his PR team is trying to float out there for naive liberals in the press to bite into. Problem: There is absolutely no reason to suspect this. Further, as a commenter points out, if she had shady dirt to peddle on Weiner, why not just go to the press and squeal? Why all the masque and mystery?
3. This isn't something anyone has mentioned, except me, but: if 2 is in play, then we must also add "Boyfriend of a girl who was inappropriately DM'd by Weiner, or a boyfriend of a girl Weiner stole away or slept with," who has been looking for vengeance ever since. In this scenario, PatriotUSA76 hates Weiner for personal reasons, but is disguising his identity as an angry boyfriend by hiding under a flag of partisan animus.
4. A Republican online campaign tracker -- I didn't know they had these, but it make sense -- who has been paid to stalk Weiner's account, looking for anything compromising. Problem with this one: A professional tracker wouldn't make a lot of noise, I don't think, and get all emotionally invested.
5. A Democrat online campaign tracker, who is placed by one of Weiner's numerous potential Mayoral rivals for 2013, looking for a way to take Weiner out of the running. Problem: Same as with 4.
6. And I honestly just had this floated to me: PatriotUSA76 is the "catcher" whereas Ginger Lee is the "pitcher" in a "honeypot" sting situation; Ginger Lee is a set-up to attract the attention of Weiner, and then PatriotUSA76 catches his errant post and publicizes it. Problem here: it's preposterous, Ginger Lee is a real person with a real life, and further, this whole idea relies on knowing that Weiner would send an errant Tweet, which is too silly to be credited. But then, who knows, maybe he was #Hacked! in this honey-pot operation. But if you're going to just #Fabricate! evidence anyway I don't see the point of having a sleeper agent in the stripper business.
Now, here are the possibilities. Maybe there are more. Maybe, who knows, PatriotUSA76 is a boyhood friend of Anthony Weiner's, and one day they were playing with a loaded gun they didn't know was loaded, and Antony Weiner accidentally shot and killed PatriotUSA76's little brother, and they buried the body and claimed he ran away, but PatriotUSA76 has been racked by guilt and anger ever since, and has waited 30 years to pounce.
Now, if that's silly, it's silly, but explain to me why that one is any less supported than any of the other ones. I mean, if we're just making crap up, why not make it a real mystery, with a dead child's skeleton buried somewhere under the floor of an abandoned Queens shirt-factory?
The important point in all of this is only a hack gets Weiner off the hook. Only a hack. Only in scenarios 2, maybe 3, and I don't know, outlandish scenario 6 is a hack likely or possible. I suppose it's possible in all of them, even 1.
So we're all interested in PatriotUSA76 for only one real reason: Did he do a hack?
That's the only real way that PatriotUSA76 becomes relevant as regards Weiner's guilt. If PatriotUSA76 did not just monitor and stalk Weiner's account, but actually hacked it, then PatriotUSA76 is very relevant.
If he didn't hack it, he's irrelevant. Maybe there's an interesting story here about a campaign tracker, and I'd like to read that story, sure, but that story is irrelevant to Weiner's guilt.
A tracker doesn't get him off.
Only a hacker gets him off.
So: Was there a hack? Let's begin with the question we're trying to answer. Because we actually can answer it.
I don't see how you get around the fact that if Weiner doesn't call the cops, that means he knows there's no hacker.
This is like Poker. You know your opponent's cards through his behavior.
You can't see his cards, but he can see his cards, and you can see the bets he's placing and his demeanor.
From his behavior and bets, one card Anthony Weiner is NOT holding is the "Hacker" card.
Right?
If he held the Ace of Hack, or the King of Hack, or even the Deuce of Hack, he'd play it and call the FBI.
And if that's the case -- and I think I know this as "fact," at least a close to a "fact" as you can have by inference -- then that rules out the Jilted XGF/Vengeance-Seeking Boyfriend of DM'd Girl "hack" scenarios, and we're left with the rest, one of which is boring (he is who he says he is), one of which is preposterous ("honeytrap"), and two of which are "interesting" and indicate partisan sleaziness but do nothing to suggest Weiner didn't do exactly what he did.
So: All this paranoia to answer a question -- was there a hack? -- which was answered within 48 hours when Anthony Weiner refused to call the FBI to report his #Hacked! violation.
He does not have the Hack card, of any rank. No Ace of Hack, no King of Hack, no Jack of Hack.
He does not have this card.
PatriotUSA76 may turn out to be interesting. He will likely remain quite boring.
But he will not turn out to be the Mystery Hacker, because Anthony Weiner has told you, as clearly and as loudly and as repeatedly as possible, that there is no Mystery Hacker.
Headline: WEINER PULLS OUT. Out of the Wisconsin hate rally he was supposed to attend. Mostly predicted.
So, he can't even go to red-meat true-blue liberal rallies now.
Thanks to someguy.

I think he needs to join forces with Congressman Weiner. Together, there is nothing those two can't accomplish!

Ace since you do twitter perhaps you can answer the question. If you want to include another user in your tweets like with the @repweiner stuff, with your software you do this from does that require you to type out @repweiner everytime or once you hit @r- does a list popup allowing you to just fill in if you want. I mean that's really a question for everyone using twitter, since I know I've seen you accidentally misspell who you were @-ing. But are there add-ons and such that let you do this? If it is that might lend some plausibility to the Gingerlee/ComelyCoed mixup.
Afterall the Pornstar did tweet about her Anthony Weiner love after midnight because of her slow work night.

Either 1) someone else posted the pic on Weenie's account, so Weenie needs to find out who it was and go after them, or 2) Weenie did it himself. The Patriot question could be answered easily if Weenie would get the right people involved, but he won't since HE SENT THE PIC.
Therefore, Patriot is irrelevant. He might be a creepy stalker guy, he might be an angelic altar boy, he might be a chick, he could be one of those Scandi birds pecking at a keyboard and retweeted because there were nice big chunks of bird food on the R and T keys. Who cares?

I think by this point, the only ones who believe that Weiner didn't post the dick-pic himself are those who NEED to believe.
Anyone claiming idiotic stories about external political partisans doing this to Weiner either doesn't know the facts of this incident, is lying to cover for Weiner, or lying to themselves.
We're getting back to the "you can't use logic to convince someone out of a position they didn't enter through logic" territory.

He probably didn't deliberately tweet the Comely Coed. He selected the Gs in his Followers list and sent to Genette instead of Ginger.
So it's a sort of good news/bad news story for him. The good news is, we can now admit he never targeted a 21-year-old hottie with his dicpic. The bad news is . . .

Agree w/Ace. One week in and there's no official LE investigation.
Incomprehensible if there truly was a hacker.
This eliminates all the wild-assed, contrived, contorted theories and we are left with the simple explanation. To wit: the hounds didn't bark because there was no intruder.

Anyway, PatriotUSA76 is irrelevant. It's Weiner's dick, he sent the picture. Don't let him off ace.
Posted by: Hedgehog at June 03, 2011 01:04 PM (Rn2kl)
The real issue, is whether there is a "prank" card.
Real...or fabricated. That's the only card left to play.
Weiner KNOWS whether he actually sent the photo or did not. That's a given.
IF, he knows he did...game over, thanks for playing...everything else is a subterfuge.
IF he knows he did not, he then knows SOMEBODY else did. If somebody else is a "hacker", past behavior patterns suggest the Angry Inchworm would explode into a frothing rage. So, because he is not...he is flailing around trying to say "move on, nothing to see here...", it means he is covering for SOMEBODY.
THAT...is our starting point. We have reached the point that we now know that he is involved in a cover up...either way.
How much he is covering up, how hard he is trying to erase his tracks, why he is covering up...all left to be discovered. But the starting point has moved. It's all about the cover up now.

=======
He's a sitting US Congressman, and he should enjoy basic professionalism from the FBI.
Getting to the bottom of this would take less than a day, and wouldn't be intrustive at all. All the Feds would have to do is forensically look at Weiner's computer, his phone, and the logs from the Twitter and Yfrog accounts.
That would be enough to figure out where the offending images and posts truly came from.
Unless Weiner *ALSO* has reams of kiddie-porn on his computer he really shouldn't have anything to worry about here.

May I point out the the Comely Co-ed said in her NY Post article that she received her one and only copy of the yfrog link to Weiner's wiener from someone she said had sent her lots of previous questions via Twitter, which is why she thought it was a prank at first?
That supports theory #1: I presume that PatriotUSA76 was on Weiner's case for using Twitter to communicate with nubile young women, and had previously contacted the Comely Co-ed to ask what the nature of her relationship with Weiner was.

Something like, "An intern, authorized to monitor Rep Weiner's Twitter account, logged into the Twitter account whilst at a rowdy party. A unknown person, believing the account to be that of the intern, took a picture and tweeted it at random to the coed. The intern immediately called the Representative to tell him that the account was 'hacked.' After questioning the intern, Rep. Weiner's staff learned that in fact it was a prank played by the unknown person, taking advantage of the un-attentive intern. The intern has been let go, the Twitter and other social networking accounts have been restricted, and, not wishing to embarrass the intern or the intern's family, no further action will be needed."

That problematic on many levels, but the biggest problem is that he'd have to find some intern stupid enough to take the fall for this, yet a good enough liar to pull it off convincingly.
Not so easy.
It would be trivially easy for any interrogator with half a brain to show that said fall-guy was lying about previously "tweeting" for Weiner, etc.
The best course of action would probably have been for Weiner to just admit right up front that he did it, take his licks from his wife, and move on. Story would have been dead within a day or two. Now, he's going to end up taking the same licks from his wife, only he's slowly destroying himself with this idiotic cherade, too.

Premise #1 - If Wiener genuinely never sent pictures of Mr Happy out onto the internet, then he would have no qualms about filing a police report because he would know he'd be found blameless.
Premise #2 (and this is your statement) " I don't see how you get around the fact that if Wiener doesn't call the cops, that means he knows there's no hacker.
Not necessarily true! What if Wiener knows (or suspects he knows) who the hacker is and also knows the motive for his getting hacked? Angry boyfriend of the recipient of a prior lewd tweet; pissed off ex girlfriend, etc., etc. A case can be made for the proposition Wiener knows who the hacker is but is afraid revealing his/her identity will lead to deeper shit.
Premise# 3. The guy is a complete dickhead; he sent that tweet (probably to the co-ed by mistake instead of to his porn star follower), he's now trying to 'walk back the dog', and can't call the cops because he knows no hack has taken place.
I'll take 'door #3', thank you. (Occam's razor & all that good stuff.)

Don't forget that the FIRST (panic) response out of Weiner on this was that he was "hacked. . .by Moriarty".
Why would he say he was "hacked" if he knew that one of his interns was (with his permission) impersonating him with his personal media accounts?
If said intern did such a thing WITHOUT his permission, said intern would rightfully deserve to be instantly fired, and this would have happened first thing Monday morning, if not sooner.
So unless he could have found a willing and able fall guy from his staff FAST, that story wouldn't really have held water either.

The other part of the Ginger Lee theory that makes me more comfortable with the whole story is that Comely Coed insisted there was no inappropriate communication between her and Weiner. I was thinking, wtf? This girl had full credibility with me except for that (yes and her being a liberal, but let's save that for another day another post).
This was especially bothersome to me because someone here last night enlightened a few of us on how sexting and dicpicking gets started.

======
Another hypothetical without evidence.
This one is also eliminated by Occam's razor. Its too convoluted, and doesn't explain the facts.
Hacking into someone's private Twitter account still isn't trivial.
How does a third party out for revenge get access to Weiner's TWO separate private media account passwords? How does that even happen?
Assuming that this was motivated by revenge, is THAT the sort of revenge you'd take? Hell no. Again, getting his passwords to begin with couldn't have been easy. If you were looking for revenge, and had access to Weiner's passwords, then you'd ALSO have access to ALL his private conversations.
Wouldn't exploiting all THAT information be a LOT more valuable to you than throwing away your password access with some stupid "dick pic" sting?

ace, you had another of these eey-ore moments about 48 hours ago. I don't hold it against you considering you're probably going on no sleep and a few hours of silence from the MBM.
But they're reading you, they're reading the blogs, they're going to pick up the Ginger Lee angle. (So are his legal team, his private security firm, and Huma's lawyers.) The MBM have smelled blood, and according to Breitbart, those CNN folks are some bitter PUMAs who are mad on Huma's account.
In other words, this is about to get much, much worse for Weiner. Monday does not look good for him.

If his wife weren't happy with his philandering behavior then why didn't she just dump him? Though I bet Huma has had some interesting conversations with Hilary about philandering husbands.
Also, remember, it was Weiner who claimed he was hacked.
Either he knows who did this, or he doesn't. If he doesn't, why doesn't he want an investigation to find out? That doesn't make sense.
If he DOES know who did it, then why did he hide behind lawyers, and refuse to answer basic questions about it?

The truth of the matter is that there's no real great mystery here. Every single Democrat and Independent United States Congressman is being followed on every social media site they participate in by people who are just waiting for them to fatfinger something like this.
It's fairly banal opposition research. These are public channels they're posting to. We're also following them with cameras when they step into the public space because you have no expectation of privacy when you go out in public. We'll be asking inopportune questions hoping they'll punch us or something (and that video will be caught by the backup cameraman and uploaded to YouTube). Because punching people is a crime. Don't fucking get caught doing it or your career is over with.
This is politics folks and there is nothing unfair about it. If Anthony Weiner is sending girls cock shots on Twitter and he fat-fingers a DM ... that shit is going to go public and it is going to be used against him because it should be.
He shouldn't be using his fucking taxpayer funded equipment to conduct trim hunts. It's also good for ratings. When those two things elements combine themselves, look the fuck out.
Democrats can spend decades searching for the second gunman all they want ... truth is we have many, many gunmen and we're all pointing our lenses towards you Democrats.
You're not going to enjoy your time in public office.
You're not going to have any fun.
We're going to make your life a fucking misery.
You're not getting any strange.
If we catch you fucking around on your wife we're going to tell her and your kids and ruin your life.
And if you don't like that get the fuck out of politics or become Republicans.

If anyone sees this segment in video, someone here should post it. It was amazing. I know none of us watch the Big 3 nightly news anymore, but you will be stunned to hear what mouth breathers are hearing on a daily basis.
Seriously, if you find the clip PLEASE MAKE IT A POST/THREAD.
Everything you could slam Obama on, they basically twisted it and used it to slam Rs with.
Oh, they also said 'Weiner' matter was private, but because of the viral situation in which we live, it has now been forced into the spotlight.

A tracker in scenarios 4 and 5 would have snagged the offending prickture and passed up the chain so it could be assigned to a hit squad for the attack run.

Make that "many, many lenspersons" and we have a plan.
An interplanetary plan (ee).
Toward freedom.

You know what else Weiner isn't holding? The other pictures in his yfrog account. Didn't he purge them all? Hey, guess what? That's also a tell.
So beyond the "not calling the FBI" to get the alleged hacker/pranker/goofer, he removed what some in the investigative community would call "evidence." Why would a victim remove that? Or why not contact Twitter/yfrog and ask them to lock down the accounts temporarily because something suspect was happening?
Why, it's all just so mind-boggling. And by mind-boggling, I mean freakin' obvious.

To use your metaphor:
Weiner is holding a mess: 2, 4 mixed suited with 5, 7, 8, J, K mixed suited, face up on the table. I.E. = Nothing, nada, zero.
The one thing someone with a hand like this doesn't want to hear when they're trying to run a bluff is; "I'm all in". Cause THEN he'll have to show his cards and once he shows his cards he knows HE'LL LOSE.
He'll lose something he thinks he still has a chance for. Apparently it's more than he already lost (so far, although he could just be someone who can't admit failure because he's insecure) by bluffing with nothing.
It's easy to see how he figures if he admits that he sent the pic his pretty and powerful little world he's built comes crashing down; no mayoral race, maybe no seat, for sure he'll be Humas bitch for the rest of that marriage as far as having any say and all his political 'friends' and groupies will abandon him like he's the Titanic.
Too bad for him that might be in the future anyway.
This is a study in DENIAL OF REALITY. And what political group has a problem with seeing reality?
Starts with a D and ends with an s.
Since things have died down a bit, I'm getting concerned that this Dick will get away with this.

He is an innocent man. Weiner is a guilty rat bastard. The world still turns.
