I tend to think you'll be able to tell whether someone will be liberal or conservative in High School.  Not by their looks, or their social status, but by their reaction to adversity and their sense of humor.

I have exactly as much scientific basis for this theory as the authors of the study (that is: none) but I just tend to think that, even as early as HS, the ones who look at bad stuff and think, "Okay, now how do I fix this?" instead of "Hey!  This needs to be fixed!" are more likely to turn out conservative.

230 I think that political ideology has an influence on appearance.  Conservatism includes a healthy respect for the traditions and customs of society.  One of those customs in our society is that you should be neat and presentable.  Furthermore, for the left, appearance becomes one of the quickest and easiest ways to make yourself a minority.  Tattoos, piercings, strange dress, all quickly set a person apart from the crowd.  As a result, those things are often adopted by liberals as a way of identfiying themselves as liberal and rejecting social norms.
