Terror Bust In San Antonio?
— Ace

Five Muslim men, Moroccan nationals, in their twenties arrested after breaking into a courthouse -- not far from where an intelligence conference was scheduled later.

At Hot Air.

KSAT, quoting sheriff's officers, reports that surveillance video showed the men walking into the building with an item in their hands, but they did not have it when they walked out.

The officials tell KSAT that the RV contained several documents and proof the men had been traveling across the country for some time.

KENS TV quotes investigators as saying the men spoke French and had Moroccan passports. The sources said documents found inside their vehicle show that the men had allegedly been traveling around the country to high-level security facilities.

Here's something a little off:

That's their RV, apparently parked right outside the courthouse they broke into.

That's awfully conspicuous, isn't it?

44 As local and federal authorities continued to question five Moroccan men arrested at the Bexar County Courthouse, it remained unclear Wednesday whether the strange break-in was a prank or part of a terrorist plot. The men, all of whom had been in the United States since September on 90-day tourist visas and travelling in a recreational vehicle, were taken into custody after an alarm alerted authorities at about 1 a.m. that someone was using the courthouse fire escape. Entering the building through a window in a fourth floor courtroom, three of the men were seen on surveillance video picking up a gavel and later donning sombreros as they made their way to the roof, Sheriff Amadeo Ortiz said. The men appeared intoxicated, said a Bexar County sheriff's official earlier, who asked not to be named. Two others were taken into custody outside the courthouse. The group's RV has been impounded and authorities are waiting to obtain a search warrant for it, Ortiz said, although investigators went through it with a police dog before it was towed away about 8 a.m. “It's just so very strange,” County Judge Nelson Wolff said at a press conference on the courthouse steps. “If it was just a group of kids here in the neighborhood ... you would think it was just a prank.” But the intruders appeared to know where they were going, Wolff added. “It's either some guys on a prank of some sort, or it could be terrorists,” he said. Authorities found photos in the vehicle of various landmarks, including courthouses and dams, sources confirmed. But they downplayed the matter until more information could be obtained, saying the items might be just tourist souvenirs or mementos. “There were maps and traveling brochures. There is no indication that there is a national security nexus at this time,” one source said, requesting anonymity because the investigation is ongoing. Agents with Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI were interviewing the subjects at the Bexar County Detention Center to learn about their travels, backgrounds and intentions, Bexar county officials said. Sheriff Ortiz said the men, who entered the country through airports in New York City and Miami, appear to be cooperating. The rented RV had California plates but apparently was rented in New Jersey, he said. “It is a peculiar situation,” said FBI spokesman Erik Vasys, adding that there doesn't appear to by any threat to the public safety. “It is not common to break in to a county courthouse.” (www.mysanantonio.com)

104 Let's just back off a little here. They're of Moroccan extraction, and they speak FRENCH for bejeebus' sake. Don't we pretty much kowtow to anyone who might have anything to do with France?

105 Sneaky bastards.  Note they didn't have a big American flag on the RV to complete their camouflage!

109 "That's their RV, apparently parked right outside the courthouse they broke into.

That's awfully conspicuous, isn't it?"

It's not terribly unusual to see an RV in that part of town; exiting I-35 for the Alamo can wind you up there very easily. However, it is rather difficult to maneuver one there; most of the streets are single lane traffic, and some are one-way and/or narrow. That being said, parking one in that area is out of the ordinary.

Oh... I've lived in San Antonio for twenty-five years; my current apartment is about twelve miles northeast of the courthouse.

111 1 CNN will describe them as French.

I listened to a few reports on the radio today as this came out: French Moroccan was what they were called on most reports I heard. At least they didn't call them "San Antonian Men" like they normally do for their complete Orwellian disinformation treatment. BTW, thanks to the moron who penned the O. D. words here a while back, it comes in handy to describe some news stories.

112 You really make it seem so uderstandable with your presentation but I find this topic before really hard to understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me.
