— andy Pixy's been notified and is hopefully rounding up a fresh 5.25" floppy disk for the Commodore 64 as you read this.
And ... fixed.
Might as well make this the Saturday a.m. open thread. Dick-themed update: Ace has his theories. I have mine.

Slowly the wringer that Wiener's wiener is caught in squeezes out the truth . Each turn of the crank proves his last statement a bold faced lie. The progs were against water boarding. Hell this is way better. If anyone has the time and inclination to compile a chronological list of Wiener and his staffers statements, lies and corrections, it would be invaluable to hand out to the progs, as they try to rewrite the story.

“Please understand i am a very important man. I’m always busy but i promise i will make time for you soon! Don’t the pictures I send keep you satisfied?”
The following day Weiner suggested they take it to another level:
“So i will make sure to keep some time open so we can have a cyber session via skype. Does that make my hot sexy baby happy?”
You want to do this kind of crap, fine, no problem. Just resign form your very important job, and get the fuck out of Congress.

There are also a few other things we know will help grow our economy, and give people good jobs that support a middle-class lifestyle. We know that a quality education is a prerequisite for success, so weÂ’re challenging states and school districts to improve teaching and learning, and making it a national goal to once again have the highest proportion of college graduates in the world by 2020.
We know that more and more jobs are being created in the clean energy sector, so we’re investing in wind power, solar power, and biofuels that will make us less dependent on foreign oil and clean up our planet for our children. These are steps we know will make a difference in people’s lives – not just twenty years from now, or ten years from now, but now, and in the months to come.
In the end, the folks I hear from in letters or meet when I travel across the country – they aren’t asking for much. They’re just looking for a job that covers their bills. They’re just looking for a little financial security. They want to know that if they work hard and live within their means, everything will be all right. They’ll be able to get ahead, and give their kids a better life.
ThatÂ’s the dream each of us has for ourselves and our families. And so long as I have the privilege of serving as President, IÂ’ll keep fighting to put that dream within reach for all Americans. Have a great weekend, everybody.Posted by: momma at June 11, 2011 06:09 AM (nWikJ)

Yep. Sierra games are like that. I remember from King's Quest 3, made by the same company that produced Leisure Suit Larry, that if you put in curse words as an action, it would give you a message like "Obviously, you were raised by a naughty wizard!", as if the game designers consciously put that in there as a message for swear cues.

PS: I thought these were just state e-mails, but The Guardian (I know) says they are her private e-mails.
Sarah Palin asked God for guidance over Alaska state budget
In an email written in March 2008 she said that she had been praying for direction over the financial negotiations. "I have been praying for wisdom on this ... God will have to show me what to do on the people's budget because I don't yet know the right path ... He will show me though."
The former Alaskan governor's deep religious beliefs are well known. She is an evangelical Christian who belongs to the Assembly of God in her home town of Wasilla, a church whose congregants have been known to speak in tongues. She famously referred to the oil pipeline she had supported in Alaska as "God's will".

What's sad to me is the comment under that article. I know it looks likeshe's being praised, but she's not. Yeah, I guess it's a great thing that that kind of energy is focused on her. Let her take all the shit, and get shit on while doing it. There's something incredibly sad about that way of thinking.
This is the beauty of Palin. She can keep half of the moonbat energy focused on her and away from where they should be directed. I love the fact that she lives , rent free, inside their heads. You Go Girl!

Ah yes, the joys of the bat files. Even after I got rid of that old Kapro and upgraded to one that had 1M of memory so I could run games had to make separate boot disks with different bat and config.sys files for every game to make use of that ."extended memory"
LOL, I had an old software program at work (proprietary) that required a special config.sys file to operate. When I retired and turned over my shit to a young guy who was taking over some of the stuff I did I showed him that file and tried to explain how you had to have it in the boot sequence he got lost.

From CNN...
“…what we’re seeing here…is a hardworking governor, working hard for the State of Alaska, a lot of discussion about policy, about taxes, about cutting budget, a lot of just the mundane state government work.”
“…somewhat different than the narrative that we’ve been hearing from certain political parts of the country…”
I can find the vid of it, but I'm too damn lazy right now. When the reporter said that the look on the anchor's face was pure disappointment. In fact, he tried hard to get the reporter to say something negative, and the guy only had good things to say.

About the Bridge to Nowhere and her decision to forego it...
The nation needs to be spending $ on fixing what we have - Minnesota needs "bridge money" today more than we need a few Alaskans to perpetuate the nonsensicle notion that our Gravina earmark is more important than fixing aged infrastructure.
...that the nation can pull, and work, together and make wise decisions on federal priorities... we should see that earmark redirected to Minnesota's tragedy because the Gravina bridge isn't going to happen on our watch anyway.

We put it into a large salt shaker (with med sized holes) and sprinkle it on both sides of the leaves and the stalks.
We water by hand because I mix in Epsom salts and tums as fertilizer about 2 a week. (Not much, just about a teaspoon)
We have also seen stink bugs already. The local farmer said he has been tracking them and that the majority of those are eating mass crops in PA right now, but they are headed our way in huge numbers (OH).
I love my garden and am very proud of it. I only have it so my kids will be able to grow their own food when they get older, plus we donate most of the crop to neighbors and local churches (I hate toms, peppers, zucchini, cucumbers, etc).
But this year, between these f*cking pot bugs, the stink bugs and the ants, I'm going crazy.

Second the mechanics gloves--they have saved me a lot of skin injuries.
It was called a duster back in the day, but I haven't seen one in years. They were pretty useful and you could get the dust under the leaves as well as the top.
Strong effective insecticides adversely impact biodiversity, witness how well the DDT ban has worked for the mosquitos, so look for 1% Sevin to be the standard shortly.

Texas movie theater makes an example (and a PSA) of a texting audience member
However, the determined texter was not about to let the matter rest. She called up the Alamo Drafthouse and left a profanity-laced (and perhaps slightly inebriated) message decrying the theater's policies. "Yeah, I was wondering if you guys actually enjoy treating your customers like a pieces of sh*t," she opened, "Because that's how I felt when I went to the Alamo Drafthouse!"
"So excuse me for using my phone, in USA magnited States of America" she raged, "where yer-you are free to text in a the-a-ter!"

The computer sat on a fold-out desk. We were supposed to pay homage to this piece of modern equipment. I was in Inventory Control; added, subtracted daily usages and restocking, in a written ledger. The computer, at that infantile stage, was always 9 months behind. It got confusing. I hated the thing. I will give my boss credit, though: He saw the potential.

More importantly, it takes people out of the job pool for YEARS, so they don't count against unemployment..
If you work from 18 to 65... thats 47 years of productive work... with 4 years of college, thats about 8% LESS time you spend in the workforce... thuus 8% of the working age populace is not counted against unemployement numbers...
Becasue we all know, its only the number which is important in Washington... not the reality.

I read yesterday, that to get a fast-food job in California, you have to know three languages, no one else should apply.
I was at a Carl's Jr. a couple weeks ago. The lady behind the counter, had very broken English. It took many tries for my boyfriend and myself to get the order straight. Patience. Las Vegas.
I am out of work. We only went there because of a "free" coupon deal. We were the only people there, except for the counter-person's (Latina's) little boy. He was situated in the eating area. Five, maybe. Nothing to occupy him while his mom worked. Nothing. Not even a book. It was like watching human torture. He may have been there for hours. I don't know. I would die for a job at Carl's Jr. Yes, I have applied, do you speak the Spanish, 'cause it is a requirement. Funny thing about Spanish, I can make it out if I am reading it, have no idea when it is spoken.

Yeah, I caught that.
It's actually possible to have two contiguous states if you give the palestinians a strip of land running along the Egyptian and Jordanian borders. The Palestinian state would like a backwards L connecting Gaza and the West Bank.
I was also struck that he mentioned the Palestinian state would have borders with Egypt and Jordan and Israel would have borders with the Palestinian state. That also matches my hypothetical backwards-L Palestine, because it would sit between Isreal, Egypt, and Jordan.

There shouldn't be any problem with the Vibe rears, the springs aren't very robust, I would usually do them sans compressor. just resting them on the floor--upright,shoving down and compressing the spring by body weight worked. If you have an air wrench, it's a snap.

Today's eval - Herman Cain
Note that Cain’s record is ALL rhetoric so one must look at his “trustworthy-ness” to determine if he will keep his word. He has been married (with no weiner pics) for 43 years so he should be trustworthy I would think.
Cap and Trade/AGWHe was at an anti-AGW rally Thursday (Politico)
From Worldnet different views on AGW
Businessman Herman Cain is among those who does not think man-made global warming is real, and told the Hill: "We have a path to energy independence in this country and it just baffles me as to why the leadership of either party in Congress or the White House doesn't pursue it ... . We simply need to remove the regulatory barriers and stop overreacting to the concerns of the environmentalists."
Gun ControlMuch has been made of his statement regarding the 2nd Amendment. He supports the 2nd Amendment but believes in the authority of State and local government to regulate guns. That is to say that he does not believe in “incorporation” for the 2nd amendment. While you can say that he does believe in the Constitution, he has a divergent view of incorporation from most conservatives. My view on this issue before and after the recent Supreme Court ruling is that we either have complete incorporation or no incorporation. Liberals have long taken the opinion of “select” incorporation for issue they love. Cain loses some points on this one. I don’t consider it a deal breaker but it is a major down tick.
Small government in general (spending and regulation)
Club For Growth mostly says his record is “thin”. True, as I said he really has no record so you must go with rhetoric. His rhetoric on taxes, spending, and regulation is almost pure “conservative”. He strongly advocates low taxes, low spending, and low regulation.
CFG gives him one ding; he supported TARP. I am ambivalent on that one. In its original conception under Bush it was thought to be absolutely necessary to prevent the huge collapse that we got anyway. I was against it as was a lot of the Morons here. Most Republicans were in favor of it. Too bad that the Obamanite regime changed what it was originally designed for a and wasted it.
One other thing that CFG gives him a plus for but I consider a negative is his support for the ‘Fair Tax”. It is good that he wants to revamp the tax code to something more fair, but the Fair Tax is NOT fair.
Overall I give him an up on this category, but because of the Fair Tax and TARP, it is not a big up.
Socialized HealthcareHigh marks here. From CFG white paper:
He clearly favors the repeal of ObamaCare, and wants
health insurance premiums to be deductable “regardless of whether they are
purchased by the employer or the employee.” In 2003, he opposed the
addition of the Medicare prescription drug benefit calling it “another massive
entitlement.” He said he “could go along with means-testing” Medicare and
block grant other entitlements to the states.
Cain supports Congressman Paul Ryan’s 2011 budget proposal as well. “I
absolutely support Paul RyanÂ’s planÂ…t is exactly the kind of bold
restructuring that we need in order to get our hands around the entitlements
issue. We need to restructure programs, not just reshuffle, which is what we
did for decades, and now look where we are.”
Herman CainÂ’s position on illegals is to seal the border and enforce current laws. Something neither Republican or Democrat Presidents have ever done.
The liberal press has made much ado about his statements that we should build “the Great Wall of China” across the border and add an “alligator moat”. The MFM is either incredibly stupid or just trying to build a case for ridicule (joke about it and it will go away strategy). They do not understand his method of humor and exaggeration to get a point across same with his 3 page bill thing). He is a radio talk show host and this is pretty standard fare for getting points done.
I give him a plus here.
AbortionSolid right to life
Summary
5 good 1 bad; but all based on rhetoric only. Morons will have to make their own decision on how trustworthy they consider him. I think he is based on a 43 year marriage and no weiner pics. (new standard)
This is the best conservative record so far on the 6 issues.

The most poisonous shellfish discovered were baby mussels at a dock in Ketchikan with toxin levels of more than 30,000 micrograms per hundred grams of shellfish meat. This is well over the 80-microgram level considered toxic, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services has warned. Those levels are so high that a single mussel could kill several people, scientists at the University of Alaska Southeast said in a statement on Thursday.
