— Ace Good nominee for dumbest comment ever, though seriously there's so much competition it's really pretty absurd to try to pick a winner.

104 "So I ask again: What the fuck good is "moral authority" in any measurable, objective way?" - Nom de Blog
The best way I can explain moral authority is to use an example. Do you read comics? If so, I point to exhibit A or moral authority, Captain America.
Captain America would always do the right thing, and by doing so, he inspired his fellow heroes to follow his example. Even though a mere mortal with powers far surpassed by most other superheroes, he LED the Avengers, which included powerhouses such as Hulk and even gods in Hercules and Thor. They all believed in the goodness of Captain America.
The antithesis to Captain America would be Frank Castle, aka Punisher. He also went after bad guys, just as zealously as other heroes. But he had no moral compunctions, for him, the ends justified the means. And while he struck fear in the thugs of the world, he never shone light in the cities he staked out. Citizens feared him just as much as the criminals he fought.
So in conclusion, moral authority is what Captain America represents. It's something that President Obama is bringing back to our great nation."

No. It's not cool to directly sock the host. There are other ways to do so.
It's rather more strict than, but in the same vein as, the rule not to directly sock other commentors.
I say "more strict" because ace sometimes actually enforces it. Where as socking a commentor will get you anything from a stern look to a "do you need a shower?"

The real intent of "socking" is to make fun of famous people anyway. Not to start flame wars here. If people are allowed to sock others in a short time chaos will reign.

Yup, Willow....it won't be pretty.
The timing of this whole Occutard thing should be giving us fair warning....this is what the DNC will make the election about. .....Evil Corporatists and Lobyists and Rich People. Lions and tigers and bears. Oh my.
Both Newt and Mitt fall into this narrative. ....They will be labeled and flayed for it.
Then, Mitt has the added gift of being Mormon, which they will use to portray him as a 'crazy underwear-wearing cultists' for.
Newt has a choo-choo train load of bagage for the media to pick and choose their tasty bits from.

114 Author,
Have they started calling him "the disgraced former Speaker" yet? ....Are they replaying the footage of him resigning both as Speaker and as Congressman yet?
If they are, I haven't seen it. ....But it will be coming, if Newt wins the nom.
Newt has not run for elective office since he quit his last elective office. ....And now we are going to catapult him into the White House?
With Newt or Mitt, it is a two-fer for the Dems. They will be able to run so much on either one of them that will demoralize the conservative vote, that the result will be low voter turnout on the Right. ....So we will not only lose to Obama, but we will probably lose seats in Congress as well.

You might want to rethink your example. It's not just young kids that wonder if France was in WW2. Anyone that has ever read a book about WW2 or even hundreds of books about WW2, wonders if France was in the war. It's really a pretty legitimate question.
