This Thing Just Pisses Me Off UPDATED
— Dave in Texas

You people, with your "reds" and "greens" and "holly jolly Christmas".

Kiss my ass.

I saw a 48 shotgun shells in your face.

Anyway, Saturday afternoon prognosticatin. What did Perry's announcement do to the race? Does Sarah come in? Does Ron Paul still sound like Walter Brennan?

UPDATE: commenter joffen tips us to Perry's first ad.

6 What did Perry's announcement do to the race?
Today, squat -- except for blogs like this (or opposing views)
Tomorrow -- rumblings on Sunday Morning shows.
Give it a week.

Does Sarah come in?
If Perry attack dogs  are successful, yes
Otherwise, can you spell unofficial campaign manager?

Does Ron Paul still sound like Walter Brennan?
No.  Unless he's speaking.
Or whatever you call that noise emanating from his head.

9 I gots all the cards right, so I gots normal vision.

As to the question asked, I don't have the slightest idea what Perry's entering does for the race.  Don't think Palin's going to enter, even though she's reportedly saying she still hasn't made the decision, and Pon Raul sounds more like the crazy uncle you never tell your friends about.

11 Palin was never gonna get in.  RonPaul would have to come a long way up to get to Walter Brennan status (being that he's crazier than a shithouse rat and reminds us of that fact every time he opens his squeakhole).

Perry/Ryan '12!!!  Let's do this thing, people!

12 I always test colorblind.  People say, "How do you know whether the traffic light is green or red?"

I say, "I just go when everybody else goes."

Shotgun shells.  Heh.

But I'm gonna vote "white" for president, to prove I'm colorblind, and to prove I'm not stupid.

18 What did Perry's announcement do to the race?

Perry is the GOP Establishment's final defense line to stop Palin.  He's in to keep her out.  He won't.

 Does Sarah come in?

Yes. There is an expiration date.  She'll be in before then.

Does Ron Paul still sound like Walter Brennan?

Walter Brennan was not only a fine actor, he was also a superb businessman.  He produced wealth for himself, his family, his community, and  his country.

Ron Paul is a congressman.

25 What did Perry's announcement do to the race?

It increases the likelihood of a primary challenge to Obama.

Does Sarah come in?

Why give up a good gig?

Does Ron Paul still sound like Walter Brennan?

Ron Paul is Walter Brennan but without that little drop of liquidy snot hanging from the end of his nose that looks like it's about to drop but never does.  But that could change.

28 Ron Paul hates the Fed. John McCain wanted Alan "Just Keep Printing" Greenspan propped up like the guy from Weekend At Bernie's. John McCain was the GOP nominee in 2008. He lost to a Marxist empty suit who launched his political career with a fundraiser in the home of a communist domestic terrorist. Sometimes I think that maybe, just maybe, the problem with the Republican Party isn't Ron Paul.

55 DaveinTexas...........prob. my fave co-blogger. Don't much care for that Andy motherfucker. Perry's entry into the race puts an end to Chris Christie getting in. Perry makes Christie look like the RINO fat ass that he is. Christie is Huntsman now that Perry is in. Sarah Palin..........do NOT think she is running. Oh yeah, she's pissed at how she and family were treated in 08', but I think she's smart enough to know that her best revenge is just living well. She's a team player, so I don't see her causing any problems. Ron Paul. Early in the 08' debates, when the moderators would call on Ron Paul, the establishment Republicans on the stage would laugh and guffaw. ""Oh hell, what's this old crazy bastard going to say now?" When Ron Paul started raising millions online it put an end to the laughter. I don't think Ron Paul has gotten crazier in 12', but his Paultards sure have! I think he feels the need to meet their expectations.

63 TheresaD.,
Here it is:

Saw this linked in the HA comments (video at the link).

Sarah Palin: “There is still a lot of contemplation that goes on within a family, deciding whether to engage in such a life-changing venture, putting yourself forward in the name of service, in such a position as President of the United States.  So, weÂ’re still thinking about it, and the impact on family. Family comes first in my life, and I just donÂ’t want to adversely affect the family. So, weÂ’re still talking about it, thinking about it.  And thatÂ’s what I want supporters to understand. At the same time, I want to be very fair to supporters and not keep them hanging on in perpetuity. ItÂ’s fair to them to give them an answer here, in short order, so that they can jump on board with someone else.  And/or to decide for themselves what they want to do.  So, still havenÂ’t made up my mind, havenÂ’t decided when that announcement would be yet.”

David Brody: “Is that short order by the end of September? October?

Sarah Palin: “I think that that is a fair timeline for people, because Fall time, they can start getting engaged with different campaigns, but still thinking about it, and really, really desiring to be a participant in the positive change that needs to happen in this country.  Economy getting back on the right track. Jobs created for Americans, I want to be a part of that whether it be as a candidate, or as a supporter of the right candidate. IÂ’m still in that decision making phase.”

65 sorry for the OT, but this has been bugging me lately.... is it just me, or do liberals and only liberals go to great lengths to tell you and anybody within earshot just how fucking awesome and pure their goddamn intentions are? is it a gradeschool level rhetorical tic, such as "i call firsties on good intentions" and therefore you by definition must have bad intentions? such a binary proposition must be not all that...hmm...what do they call it...nuanced? or is it useful to them to say their intentions are ever so wonderful so their mellow isn't harshed by draconian, right-wing concepts that are such a drag, like 'results' or worse yet, 'accountability'? i think its both.  seems so childish. pussies.

92 but Joffen, what they would say (as per liberal script), is never mind the results of their asshattery, but behold the INTENTIONS!  I mean really...how do you counter such nonsense? i usually say that nobody gives a wet shit about your "stated intentions" and neither does anybody else but you, because it means you don't feel the need to own up for the failure of policies you endorse............ and they just hiss and blow spit bubbles...more or less that's the playbook for every lib i have tried to have a conversation with.  i guess the overwhelming evidence points to the fact that yes, liberalism is a mental disorder.  if you're not willing to be wrong, you're not willing to learn or grow.

Yeah, I have a feeling that is not going to go well with the generation of blacks - and whites, frankly - who actually lived through MLK's time and participated in the civil rights movement.  Especially the older blacks.

To paraphrase:  Obama is a tin plated over bearing swaggering dictator with delusions of godhood.

Sharpton even outdoes (by a little) the Chicago Jesus in riding the White Guilt Train long past the point where any normal citizen would be doing jail time. You do a Tawana Brawly scenario where people and property are damaged, and you'd be in orange-jumpsuit territory. Al gets radio and TV gigs, not to mention a lot of donations and, probably, some loot from Osama Obama's stash.

Mitt polls really well here in Utah, but when I've spoken with folks (LDS) one-on-one, there's not much enthusiasm.  My best friend here (and her husband) donated to Mitt last time, but she said she will not vote for him this time because he's too liberal, particularly on health care.  She currently seems to be leaning Bachmann, but I've started working on her on Perry.  She's a bit nervous that there might be a Huckabee-esque Mormon problem, but I've looked and so far I see no signs of one.

Maybe he's just reacting to the stereotype (not that Bush was anti-LDS as far as I know, but still) and not really aware of Perry's record.

Sarah will not jump in. In a few weeks, she will announce that she has decided not to run and will endorse Perry.

Ron Paul is a blight on the planet.

186 Y-Not - Washington State. Maybe he likes being the naysayer since nothing ever goes to the repubs there. He did not like Huntsman at all and made that perfectly clear so I think he really just likes Romney. Again, nothing wrong with that. Like your guy but hush once the primaries are over.

187 I always test colorblind. People say, "How do you know whether the traffic light is green or red?"

I can see red and yellow, but not green. So I go when the light's white, or when they're all off. Whether the green light looks like a white light or like nothing depends which kind of bulb is in the thing. The new ones are all invisible.

Running a "no light" has only almost killed me once, so far. The red light facing me was out, and there was no blink-when-shit's-fucked-up routine programmed into the tree (apparently).

But I did a high-pitched squeaky '70s cop show powerslide and saved America.

Not to mention her considerable fund raising skills.

As long as no one is getting tingles up their legs, I guess Perry will be as good as anyone else in the race.

You might lose a few independents over him, though.

 Heh. Imagine a Perry/Palin ticket....

How long does it take to write the same speech over and over again? I don't think they are playing Pong, more likely Texas Holdem Ppker using their stack of race cards.  And expect those cards to be played strongly at the proper time, because we all know the President does not want his bluff called.

I think Palin is going to wait and then endorse Rick Perry.  It's the logical thing for her to do, I had CNN on at ten because Fox had a rerun on.  Last night I got home very late and FNC had a rerun of the debate!  It was bad enough the first time.  CNN had an interview with Erick Erickson of Red State, it may have been a rerun but I did not see it before.

I know it is summer and people want vacations, that is why they have others in the rotation to take the helm on a big day like today.

I love the idea of Barry sulking away on 1/20/2013, sned him to Venezuela!

209 A while back, Palin said that she'd get in if there were no good conservatives in the race. Well, we've got Perry and Bachman now so unless it's all about her ego, she's out. Her best use would be as a rally-whipper-upper and fundraiser. Imagine the massive crowds that would show up for her at minor candidate rallys. She could be worth billions of dollars for conservative candidates nationwide.

213 Perry had a great launch & Suckabee is a petulant pillowbiter.

Perry will win by goin to every state in the union (He campaigned in every county in Texas) He'll do what he did on saturday. Give a short direct speech & answer questions.

Mostly he'll say "Hi I'm Rick Perry...in Texas we have jobs. Here's how we did it and you can do this too"

Simple american capitalism combined with smart legislation and tort reform and getting guvmint out of the way. Watching Perry campaign is a sport in Texas cause Perry always comes up with tactics that leave his opponents gasping.

This will be a Hoot of a Rodeo.

January 20, 2013 - Washington, D.C.

On the steps of the Capitol, flanked by many tearing supports, President Barack Obama and wife Michelle gazed in absolute disbelief as Governor Rick Perry, standing with his wife Anita and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts, is sworn as the 45th President of the United States.

After the ceremony, Mr. Obama in a fit of pique turned and walked to his waiting transport glaring at reporters and refusing to comment on the days events.

Mr. Obama was immediately transported to Andrews Air Force Base, and boarded a small charter plane for an unknown destination, ending four years of derision, failed leadership, and a history of petulant behavior not unlike that of a small child.

Its so funny that the Establishment base is now split in two between the Vitalis mannequin and the blow dried mannequin.

Both Mitt and Rick are now fighting for that same ol same ol 25 to 30 per cent of RINOs and apparatchiks.

The Rick's Got Big Balls and is Already Measuring the Drapes! crowd knows this, so, despite the bluster, those steady peeps we keep hearing are the REAL tell:

'Please endorse Rick and win it for him Sarah, please, please, do it for your country, Sarah....'

Hey Ricksters, I dont blame you, she already saved his ass once and, as Magic Johnson once said about feeding James Worthy in the post:  "Go to the well 'till the well run dry."

Sorry fellas, Rick better get on with some more rain prayers.

Especiallly as his Hispandering, Reagan-denying, Gore-loving, health-mandating, slush-funding, corporate-cronying record gets exposed.

Sarah's supporters dont call for Perry's endorsement; how about returning the favor.  It reeks of weakness.
