Junk Science Isn't a Victimless Crime
Wish we could get all of it. IN any case this is why I hate to see people call AGW a hoax. A hoax is a joke that is meant to be funny and doesn't harm people.
When it robs people of money or life it is no longer funny. It is a fraud. The perps should be prosecuted and jailed.

What's with the reaction to this stupid skull in a pot next to candles and potting soil? That's it? That's the demonic, menacing altar? If that is a Satanic altar, then half my friends are Satanists. It could be something sinister in his mind, but it doesn't look threatening to me. I like morbid decor. I had all kinds of weird shit in my dorm room, homemade zombie dolls, etc. It didn't mean anything. It just really irks me that whenever any young criminal/suspect is arrested, anything involving skulls or metal/punk music automatically makes them a Satanist. It's a skull in a plant pot!

Good morning, happy campers--and Dave.
Despite all the crappy news, I was really having a good time here yesterday afternoon.

Morning all! So, I'm about ready to drive into a brick wall if I have to listen to any more about the Giffords' shooting being related to "vitriolic political landscapes" and "right wing rage." Am I alone?
Here's a change of pace. What do you do if your an Afghani man who really wants sex but you don't have a woman? Find a pretty boy!
Most Pashtun men, Human Terrain Team AF-6 reports, engage in sex with men – boys – in fact, the vast majority of their sexual contacts are with males. “A culturally-contrived homosexuality [significantly not termed as such by its practitioners] appears to affect a far greater population base then some researchers would argue is attributable to natural inclination. Some of its root causes lie in the severe segregation of women, the prohibitive cost of marriage within Pashtun tribal codes, and the depressed economic situation into which young Pashtun men are placed.”
Wonder how that jives with don't ask, don't tell? Oh wait, it doesn't matter anymore. DADT is kaput. Never mind!

But regardless of whether the evidence is there, recent events certainly raise the issue of whether local law enforcement officials in this country spew partisan nonsense to divert peopleÂ’s attention from their own failings.
Patterico funny.
But not just funny:
IÂ’m interested enough, in fact, that I am filing an open records law request for the documents. Do I expect the Dupster to comply? Well, willful violation of the law can lead to damages, so . . . weÂ’ll have to see.

Damned by faint praise that. Any time I hear someone call out the "far right" I wonder about their standing. I want to ask them to define the "far right". I have asked a number of lefties that question and never got a real answer. They can't define it, but they can always name some person who the call a member of the "far right".
From what I gather the far right is any Republican who isn't a RINO and who speaks out against liberalism.

These are more data to prove the assertion that it is the left that is violent.
I have always assumed that the right is far better armed, and much more knowledgeable about the use of weapons. That we don't see far more violence directed at the left strongly suggests that in spite of its capability for violence, the right does not have the political drive for violence.
The examples of violence perpetrated by the left is long and sordid; just ask any city that has ever hosted a "G" meeting. The 60s and 70s were filled with bombings and shootings, but only a few were from the right.
As so many have suggested to the left, that they link this paranoid killer to the right, so must we fight to link every example of the left's proclivity to resort to violence solidly to the current crop of left-wing politicians who take such glee in blaming Palin for the AZ shootings but disavow any responsibility for their own, much more significant violence.

That's absolutely why they're doing it, or at least part of the reason. That's why every opportunity they get, they try to pin acts of violence, extremism, and pure evil on right wingers. They're crossing their fingers and biding their time against the day they can finally say, "HAH! We're right! See? We told you all along! BAN CONSERVATIVE THOUGHT! IT KILLS PEOPLE!" They conveniently ignore that all these other inconvenient incidents are largely committed by insane individuals, Islamist wackos, or left wing radicals. Those are just aberrations, you see, even if they happen frequently. No, it's the right wing conservatives who listen to Limbaugh, Beck and Hannity who are the REAL monsters and must be burned at the stake.
OOPS! Is that inflammatory rhetoric? Shucks!

Well, this looks like the end of Palin's political career.
It's completely unfair, but so is life. This is the final nail in her coffin; she isn't just damaged goods -- she's stick-a-fork-in-her done.
This is also going to have a powerful affect on the 2012 presidential campaign. The GOP will not be able to run an aggressive candidate because such a candidate would appear too "threatening". The odds are stacking up for Huckabee as the Republican 2012 presidential candidate.
Not that it matters who the GOP runs. They don't to win -- they really do not want to turn the historic first black American president into a one-termer.

What's with the reaction to this stupid skull in a pot next to candles and potting soil? That's it? That's the demonic, menacing altar?
It's my personal belief that the potting soil was to grow himself some sweet Mary Jane, and the skull was to scare off his parents so they wouldn't steal his weed. But I may be oversimplifying, based on the fact that the jag-off was clearly a loony tune.

Cap'n Ed:
Yesterday I made my first appearance on Al-Jazeera’s English-language channel to discuss the Tucson massacre and the attempt to pin the blame on Sarah Palin and the “heated rhetoric, particularly from those on the Right and the far Right,” as the host put it. He presses repeatedly on this point, while I point out that there is absolutely no evidence that the shooter had any connection to the “Right,” or any other rational political movement. When he asks why we shouldn’t tone down our political speech on the off chance a lunatic might be listening, I explain that we can’t calibrate our political debate to the lowest common denominator of sanity — and that it isn’t the job of politicians to do that anyway.
Posted by: Mama AJ at January 11, 2011 05:35 AM (XdlcF)
I don't see that happening. Palin has a very active base of support at the very least, and the MFM looks ridiculous for trying to claim Palin was the reason Giffords got shot.
As for Huckabee, nobody is going to want a guy with a thousand possible Willie Hortons as the nominee.

Why did he shoot Rep Giffords? We don't know yet.
But we do know that she seems to be surviving this outrageous attempted murder. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, however, was only one victim of this shocking attack, she along with eighteen others were wounded while six others were killed. The details of what happened are just now becoming available, but we are united in our grief and disbelief over these unfolding events. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this senseless act of violence.
We also know that Sarah Palin and Rep. Giffords' opponent used violent imagery last year urging her opponents to "target" her. Last spring, after she voted to expand health insurance coverage to working families and cut drug costs for senior citizens her office was violently attacked.

This is ball dippingly good. The Left wanted him to apologize.....for saying illegals are part of the crime problem in AZ back in 1999. Sounds like money for re-elections REALLY changed his opinions!
Dupnik also suggested that local schools should check the immigration status of students and that many of the social problems in his county were attributable to illegal immigration--remarks that some fellow Democrats cited as “inflammatory” while demanding an apology from the sheriff.
Additionally, Dupnik once told residents in part of his county to buy guns to protect themselves because he did not believe his department, given its limited resources, could adequately do the job themselves.
Dupnik expressed his views about mentally ill people not being institutionalized to the Tucson Citizen newspaper in September 1999 after four people had been shot by local law enforcement officers in the course of a single week. The Citizen published the sheriff’s remarks in its Sept. 21, 1999 edition in a story by staff writer Michael R. Graham that ran under the headline “Dupnik: guns, drink making streets unsafe.”
"Each day, a higher percentage of the population is armed. And a lot of them are emotionally disturbed, violent, psychotic, and they drink too much," Dupnik told The Citizen. "When they drink and lose their temper and a firearm is available, they pose a threat to society."
"I'm not sure it's safe for anyone on the streets today," Dupnik said.
