So good luck, NYC morons.

Of course, now that the damage has been done and that the "Sarah Palin incited the shooter" thought has been thrown out into the public discourse.
This is why Rush coined the term "Drive-by Media". Haven't heard him use it recently though.

Yeah. I'm thinking of moving to Texas, maybe around New Braunfels. This business of a couple of feet of snow and temps in the minus column are getting old after 70 years.
Of course, this is flyover country, so no one with their face on a TV screen talks about what those pussy New Yorkers bitch about.

LOL, I checked the NYC temps and they are about the same as the temps here in SC. I need some groceries but the damn roads are still shit and not likely to get any better today.
It is 26.2 here now an hour and a half after sunrise.

Morning, Morons and fellow Moronettes! Tis wintery and windy here in NH this morning. The actual roads aren't too bad (yet) since it's a nice, fluffy snow and not sludgy and slick, but the wind kicks up the snow and makes it impossible to see the car directly in front of you. Not fun. My father refused to let me drive myself and my mom to work today, and insisted on driving us in himself. Fine by me! We followed a plow on the highway most of the way, so it was a surprisingly decent commute, even in a little Hyundai Accent. I hope everyone else in the Northeast corridor is safe and sound and wherever they need to be!
Now, let's get down to the hateful vitriol for the day. *cracks knuckles*

It will in the short run, but I think one other State has already tried that an lost it in a court case.
Since a number of people in AZ have said that they are not going to allow the Westborow people near the funeral I think they could make a good case that there is a potential for violence and get the protests stopped.

SPRINGFIELD — Closing out a contentious lame-duck legislative session, Illinois Democrats handed Gov. Quinn a major political victory early Wednesday by voting to raise the state income tax by 66 percent and buy him some financial stability for his first full term in office.
The state Senate voted 30-29 at 1:20 a.m. to send the tax-hike package to the governor about 10 minutes after paramedics carried state Rep. David Miller (D-Lynwood) off the Senate floor on a stretcher.
Miller was taken to St. JohnÂ’s Hospital, but as of 6 a.m., he had been released, according to hospital spokeswoman Sherry Puccetti. Puccetti said she believed he was treated for dizziness.
Miller, the Democratic candidate for state comptroller in the November elections, collapsed at about 12:45 a.m. while watching the Senate debate. The 48-year-old lawmakerÂ’s sudden illness cast a pall over the tax vote.
The boost in the amount the state withholds from workers paychecks from 3 percent to 5 percent would drain $800 from the household budget of a family earning $40,000 a year and take effect immediately if the governor signs off.
After the Senate vote on the income-tax hike, senators approved a $4 billion borrowing plan already approved by the House that would cover what the state owes this year to its five pension systems.
In the House, the budget vote followed roughly 90 minutes of debate in which ruling Democrats argued there was no other alternative but to raise the income tax to fund vital state-funded human services and education programs afloat.
“Illinois is in crisis, absolute financial crisis, and there is no way we can dig ourselves out of the crisis without increased revenues,” said House Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie (D-Chicago), the bill’s chief House sponsor.
The full increase in the individual income tax would last four years before dropping to 4 percent; in 2025, the rate would drop to 3.5 percent. Spending caps would limit future spending growth to 2 percent annually. If spending overshot that limit, the tax rates would revert to their current levels.
The House roll call on the tax vote, which boosted the corporate income tax from 4.8 percent to 7 percent, fell strictly along party lines with no Republicans supporting the plan in either chamber.
After the House vote, a jubilant Quinn showed up briefly on the chamberÂ’s floor, shaking hands with Democratic House members and patting them on the back. He left through the back exit of the House chamber, avoiding any questions from reporters.
GOP critics said the legislation would harm middle-class families and was the byproduct of eight-years of overspending by the Blagojevich and Quinn administrations.
“I’ve been here eight years, and we stand up every time one of these bloated budgets are presented, and we consistently have warned that this day is coming,” said Rep. Roger Eddy (R-Hutsonville), who opposed the tax increase.
“The time to be adults was eight years ago, when we were adding programs, expanding spending to a point we couldn’t pay for it, and we knew very well we couldn’t pay for it,” Eddy said.

Child slain in attack was born on Sept. 11, 2001
The Arizona Republic
In a fitting tribute to the birth date and life of 9-year-old Christina Green, the National 9/11 flag, which was nearly destroyed in the attacks on the World Trade Center, will be displayed at her funeral on Thursday in Tucson.
The 20- by 30-foot Stars and Stripes was the largest to survive the collapse of the Twin Towers. Images that day showed it shredded and hanging by a corner.
Christina was born on Sept. 11, 2001, and had always been proud of her birth date and interested in the events of that day. She was one of six people killed in a shooting spree Saturday that also wounded U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
The flag was being brought to the funeral by New York Firefighter Jimmy Sands, who on Tuesday evening was at John F. Kennedy International Airport awaiting a flight to Arizona, said Jeff Parnell, spokesman for the New York Says Thank You Foundation, which displays the flag at events across the country.
Parnell heard Christina's mother talking on a news program about how "Christina looked at 9/11 as a holiday . . . and looked for all the hopeful things that came out of it."
The foundation called the St. Odilia Catholic Church, where Christina received her First Communion, to get in touch with the family. The funeral is at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
The family is "delighted," said Theresa Bier, 74, a parish administrator.
"They feel honored to have this because it was special to Christina: 'I was born on this day, I was something good that came into the world.'

Haley takes office today and the eco-tards are not happy
(Yes we have those loons here as well)Haley said little during the election about environmental issues, instead pushing a jobs and lean government agenda. Her only lengthy comments resulted from an interview with The State newspaper during her campaign.
In the interview, she said South Carolina needs to be more business-friendly and its environmental protection agency should be more prompt with permit decisions for industries. The comments rankled conservationists, who say businesses have it too easy when seeking environmental permits.
So Haley is still looking good. She has already put the unions on notice and it looks like the eco-tards are going to have a rough 4 years as well.
And yes, they say she doesn't know about "green" issues. It looks to me like she knows all about them. They are scams.

SC lawyer plans suit against Voting Rights Act
Kobrovsky says things have changed, noting the election of Barack Obama and black congressman Tim Scott. The Charleston County elections board refuses to join any suit.
Board
chairman Dan Martin says thereÂ’s little expense in working with the
Justice Department and the law makes officials think twice before they
make a voting change.
Keep in mind that ALL the lower tier elected offices in SC are held my Democrats. Section V of the VRA plainly benefits Dems and they will not allow it to be challenged. Especially when redistricting is coming.
I have always said Section V is blatantly unconstitutional but so far Kennedy has gotten up on the left side of the bed for that one.

About the Taranto article -- he writes:
He provides exactly one example: Rep. Michele Bachmann, a Minnesota Republican, "urging constituents to be 'armed and dangerous.' " Such a statement does seem problematic, although in the absence of context, and given what former Times public editor Daniel Okrent has described as Krugman's "disturbing habit of shaping, slicing and selectively citing numbers in a fashion that pleases his acolytes but leaves him open to substantive assaults"--an observation that surely applies to nonnumeric facts as well--we are disinclined to trust Krugman's interpretation of Bachmann's statement.
From PowerLine (linked by Instapundit) we get the context:
My guess is that Krugman has no idea when Michele referred to being "armed and dangerous," or why, or what the rest of the sentence was. Krugman's biggest problem isn't that he is stupid. His biggest problem is that he is lazy. He is incapable of doing even the most rudimentary research, which is why his columns rarely contain many facts, and when they do, his "facts" are often wrong.
As it happens, I--unlike Krugman--know all about Michele's "armed and dangerous" quote, because she said it in an interview with Brian Ward and me, on our radio show. It was on March 21, 2009. The subject was the Obama administration's cap and trade proposal. Michele organized a couple of informational meetings in her district with an expert on global warming and cap and trade, and she came on our show to promote those meetings. She wanted her constituents to be armed with information on cap and trade so that they would understand how unnecessary, and how damaging to our economy, the Obama administration's proposal was. That would make them dangerous to the administration's left-wing plans.
Posted by: Ed Anger at January 12, 2011 05:26 AM (7+pP9)
Yeah, but even that was kind of a big "meh." When you read the Lt. Gov's. job/role, it really has little to do with being in charge in the Gov's absence -- the purpose of the position is to make sure there's a proper line of succession. Apparently, prior to this post being created, NJ had situations where there was no Governor for extended periods after one left office prematurely.
The real sign that it was nothing was that the Democrat legislator who was in charge in Christie's absence found nothing wrong and did not use the opportunity to criticize Christie. The one shooting his mouth off was some other Dem.
I denounce myself as a RINO of the First Order for defending the gun-grabbing fat man!

About the USS John P. Murtha:
On one side of the issue is Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, who by tradition actually gets to pick the names. "Both in uniform and in the halls of Congress, Chairman Murtha dedicated his life to serving his country both in the Marine Corps and Congress," he said last spring, 11 weeks after Murtha, who won two Purple Hearts in Vietnam as a Marine, died. "His unwavering support of our sailors and Marines, and in particular of our wounded warriors, was well known and deeply appreciated."
But Mabus' decision has unleashed a continuing torrent of opposition from many former sailors and Marines. They say that naming a vessel for Murtha rewards a lawmaker who called for pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq in late 2005 during the war's toughest days, and one who was implicated in bribery and pork-barrel politics. On Friday, a former Murtha aide-turned-lobbyist was sentenced to 27 months in prison for evading limits on campaign donations; Murtha also was an "unindicted co-conspirator" in 1980's FBI-run Abscam sting.
And that isn't the worst of it, according to sailors and Marines: putting Murtha's name on an amphibious warship designed to carry 700 Marines is outrageous, they maintain, given Murtha's 2006 charge that Marines in the Iraqi city of Haditha "killed innocent civilians in cold blood." (One of the eight Marines charged in the case still faces trial; six have had their charges dismissed and one was acquitted.) "Name a ship after a congressman who disgraced himself by rushing to judge that fellow Marines had committed murder in Iraq?" Thomas Wilkerson, a retired Marine major general who now heads the non-profit U.S. Naval Institute, which advocates for the military's maritime services, said Sunday. "Can you be serious?"

But it was just a few short years ago the company was a darling in the eyes of the Patrick administration, which offered Evergreen a rich package of grants, land, loans, and other aid - some $76 million in all-to build a new facility at Devens. The company eventually accepted $58.5 million, one of the largest investments Massachusetts has made in a private company. The aid packages includes a $1-per-year lease for 23 acres at Devens that would otherwise cost $2.3 million.
Patrick came under fire during his re-election campaign for giving so much support for Evergreen. But the administration had repeatedly defended the deal, saying Evergreen has created far more than the 350 jobs it promised in exchange for the public money.
Put aside the stupidity of giving hundreds of thousands of dollar worth of incentives per job created, how dumb is it to pour money into a company that had to be half a billions dollars in the red at the time.

The governors of Wisconsin and Indiana are already saying their states will profit from this. They were practically laughing at how stupid Illinois is. And I agree with them. This state is totally in run by corrupt politicians and unions

Have any prospective '12 candidates (aside from Palin) spoken about the media's recent behavior?
Do you count Pawlenty saying he wouldn't have used cross hairs (and by cross hairs I mean not-exactly cross hairs)?
Asked whether he would have created a similar map, the former governor of Minnesota and author of the autobiography "Courage to Stand" was unequivocal: "I wouldn't have done it," he said.

So the maniacs in Illinois have built some sort of Rube Goldberg device that says if spending exceeds a certain level, then tax rates will decrease? But the reason for this better mousetrap is because of a "need for increased revenues" to cover increased spending?
So in two-three years, when they spend like drunken sailors (actually this is an unfair analogy, since sailors spend their own money), they can say, "you caught us, no go ahead an cut tax rates, which will make the problem even worse"!?!

They should have named a dud torpedo after Jimmah. Much more fitting.

Isn't the Wall Street Journal, that bastion of conservatism, singing the same tune? After all, cheaper labor will result in more profits for the paper-shufflers in the stock-market game....
I love that 12-14 million "estimate." Hell, that's probably the illegal count in Los Angeles County, never mind the rest of the country. The "estimate" was probably cooked up by the same goons responsible for the current "hey, the economy's recovering!!11!!" bogus jobs numbers. Try 20+ million.

Cross this asshole off of the short list for 2012. He's yet another guy who just proved that he wouldn't last a week after the Republican convention against the MFM.
Suggested response: "Would I have made this map? Why are you asking me a hypothetical about only this map and not : the demands that the Governor-elect of Florida be put against the wall and shot? Or that the President of the United States refers to political opponents as enemies?"
Instead, he went down the cattle chute and they were nice enough to let him live, in exchange for him being milked.

I thought they had backed off this stance the last few years. Not sure why I thought that, but I guess I was wrong. You'd think they'd be in favor of illegals (not amnesty) because legal citizens can sue, join unions, demand raises, etc.

It was a realistic and reasonable statement.
Though it wasn't the combination of the Sermon on the Mount, Gettysburg Address and Declaration of Independence the commenters over at TepidAir are making it out to be, it was sensible.
Sadly, it may be the best statement from our side yet, and was a welcome change from the bombastic stridency of Limbaugh and Hannity, and the overheated emotionalism of Beck.

Here are the list of people you must support. You will pick one from this list (love, RNC and MFM)
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R) are among a handful of Republicans set to address House GOP lawmakers at their annual retreat this weekend.
Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and Texas Gov. Rick Perry also are included on the list of speakers scheduled for the three-day retreat in Baltimore, Md., set to begin Jan. 13.
Gingrich, Barbour and Perry have all been mentioned as a possible 2012 presidential candidates.
Last year, when Democrats were in control of the House, Obama addressed the retreat but, according to a source close to the House GOP Conference, he wasn't invited to do so this year. At last year's retreat, Obama's remarks and subsequent back-and-forth with GOP lawmakers was televised, with most observers agreeing the president won the debate.

By JENNIFER STEINHAUER
WASHINGTON — With tears falling and his throat choked with emotion, Representative John A. Boehner, Republican of Ohio, addressed a barely-filled chamber in the House of Representatives Wednesday, denouncing the violence in Tucson, Ariz., on Saturday that left six people dead and Representative Gabrielle Giffords, Democrat of Arizona, critically wounded.
“These are difficult hours for our country,” Mr. Boehner said, in some of his first official remarks as the new speaker of the House. “Our hearts are broken,” he said later, “but our spirit is not.”
“We feel a litany of unwanted emotions that no resolution could possibly capture,” Mr. Boehner said, sniffling and blowing his nose with a handkerchief. “We know that we gather here without distinction of party, the needs of this institution have always risen above partisanship.”
