I fully expected this Verizon is suing FCC\
What pisses me off is this is the second time the FCC has been sued over this same shit. The tax payers are paying for them to act in a lawless manner without fear of any cost to themselves. I want to see the court hit the assholes that pushed this and want them hit hard. In fact, in addition to legal sanctions they should pay all the court costs out of their own pockets.

It has started! Public outraged as its oxen get gored.
Yesterday I posted a link to a proposal by Nikki Haley for budget reductions that (among other things) eliminated SC funding for ETV and PBS in SC. Look at the comments in this article today. LOL, if the House goes in to kill federal funding look for these comments x 10.

More outrageous BS from this admin
WASHINGTON—The U.S. military plans to award an exclusive contract to Russia's state arms exporter Rosoboronexport to supply helicopters for Afghanistan's military, speeding a deal that was outlined as part of a "reset" of U.S.-Russia relations.Since we are funding this crap it, it means the U.S. taxpayer is funding this. Or should I say, we are borrowing money from China to buy Russian helicopters for corrupt assholes who will probably turn them over to the heroin dealers.

Time names their candidate for the
Republicans in 2012
Once more, Willard Mitt Romney looked great, and not just because of his rugged jawline, which showed no sign of slackening, or his thick blow-dry, which had gone more gray in just the right places. No, there was something else, a feeling in the air as he moved through his adoptive state — where else? New Hampshire — which so harshly rebuked him in the 2008 Republican primary by choosing John McCain.
Once again the MFM seeking to name our candidate early in the process with this puff piece. The more things change the more they remain the same.

Evidently, Cohen firmly believes what he says and does not make statements for mere political show. Prior to calling Republicans Nazis this week, when the Tea Party Rallies were organizing, when referencing the MSM mantra of radically bigoted teabaggers, Cohen referenced those attending protests against federal corruption protests as clones of Dem. Gov. George Wallace and the hooded KKK.
Belief system. Given belief in revisionism, progressives can't deal with authentic, unaltered recorded documentation. And technology obliges, providing material to support the belief system pitting fact v. revisionist authenticity. And the audience selectively supports its own propagandized comfort zone.
Given Loughner as a contemporary illustration, of course the Left won't accept responsibility for their own product. They've already rewritten history, having transposed all villains from proper historical setting, destroying any accuracy, juxtaposed as political opponents -- meaning the villains were all conservatives. Hitler + Stalin = Conservatives.

The technological reason for banning cell phones on planes may be real enough, but programming could overcome that.
The real-world reason is that nobody -- nobody -- wants to sit in a closed cabin with even one other person yakking at Cell Phone Volume for any length of time. And the staff doesn't want to deal with the conflict.
It's the last refuge. Please don't make the feds create a Federal Good Manners Commission to enforce it.

In one case, several students apparently took off their clothes and were naked in the classroom. In the second incident, a boy and girl reportedly engaged in oral sex in front of their classmates. Markham Elementary School's Flint indicated that the suspended teacher, whose name was not released by the school district, was present for both of the incidents.

from 58 - Breitbart:
"I am not endorsing gay marriage, I'm not endorsing Don't Ask, Don't Tell. I will be the harshest critic of the activist gay left..."
Of course he fails to realize that the people he's so harsh on are masquerading as the gay right in GOProud and the Log Cabin types.
(Yeah Malor, spouting platitudes to the 2nd Ammendment and fiscal sanity doesn't cover up the quite liberal identity politics of GOProud's platforms that entail "getting breaks for gays". Also wondering why it was another coblogger doing a story on Log Cabin dudes suing over DADT even after it was repealed. That's just so weird that you didn't cover it.)

What's with everyone yapping about how fantastic the President's speech in Tucson was? I thought it was very meh. That's without the annoyance of the cheers and his campaigning.
Actually, i thought it was one of the best he's made.
The speech in 2004 he made at the DNC convention was by far his best. I didn't agree with all the content, but if you go rewatch it, you'll see it was quasi patriotic. Obvsiously he didn't believe god damn word he was saying, but it was still an okay speech
As for the Tucscon speech, i thought it was fairly good. It wasn't Reagans space shuttle columbia speech, but it was alright. It was about the victims and not him, and he did get off a subtle swipe at the left.
All in all, for a god awful president, the speech wasn't too bad.

69 Speaking of which: after today my kid is officially home schooled, until next fall when we can get him into a private school...or we wind up moving.
After what feels like a century of butting our heads against a wall, we just finally decided to give up -- it is an incredible economic burden to do this (we aren't wealthy, or even upper middle class, not anymore) but enough is enough.
The sad part is that we aren't the only parents who have finally given up in disgust.

Cumulative. I got very tired of the new crop of teachers not teaching (the older teachers made this district pretty good, but they have been retiring in droves for the past 5 years, and now...oy). I fail to appreciate my tax dollars going towards classes where no homework is handed out and movies (as in Harry Potter or Disney) are watched at least 2 days out of every 5...every. single. week.
On top of that I'm tired of an administration that can't seem to administer. My son has fallen on the bad side of some kids because he won't back down to bullies -- since they are afraid to go head to head with him apparently a couple of girls had an internet site planned involving "taking him down" and potentially "causing his death". I guess this all started when they were harassing a girl in his class last year, and he told them off. Since then according to this poster the girls and their boyfriends were handing out, my son is on the "target" list. Considering that not two months ago kids in this same class attempted to "protest" getting recess privledges taken away (all encouraged by a teacher, who didn't think they'd go so far) by sending out email flyers to the student body listing what weapons to bring and what targets to go after, for which the school did very little and essentially caved to the kids, I no longer feel confident that my kid is safe there.
No, the school is not doing anything about this internet "target" list or any of that, and no, this originally started a few months ago. My kid isn't the only one this has happened to either -- some other kids have been pulled from the school.
But these are all wealthy to upper middle class "good" kids doing this...that's the school's response.
Posted by: unknown jane at January 21, 2011 07:24 AM (5/yRG)
Okay, here's the thread I was looking for.
On the sidebar, about college kids not actually learning anything:
So what if a lot of people actually know this but go along with it anyway because, you just try getting a job that's not flipping burgers without a freaking certified piece of paper that claims you have some kind of training. Back in the day a kid with half a brain and lots of gumption could become an apprentice. They learned the job while working the job. Who does that now? So some joker with the know-nothing degree gets the high paying job instead of the guy who has has been around a lot longer and knows a lot more but doesn't have the piece of paper.

I'm really shocked that the school administration is taking such a cavalier attitude toward this; that other kids have already been pulled means they have a PR powder keg situation they're sitting on, I assume you've gone to the police about this. Whoever is the ISP for the website should be made aware of this also. Do you have a local fishwrap that would cover this (although the lib shitheads that populate the salad tossing media consider public skools the holy grail)?
I pulled one of my Hatettes from the local public union shop daycare centers because the quality of education had gotten so shitty but if I'd have felt some of the denizens were threatening them, I would've gotten in a lot of peoples' faces and to hell with the consequences.

The only thing sad about this is the state of the schools. You are to be lauded for your choice. Posted by: HH at January 21, 2011 07:54 AM (6oDXl)
oddly, this is a great opportunity for you and your child. there is a huge homeschooling community ready to help/guide you. you and the other parents who have pulled your children out can form your own learning consortium. better social outlet than school; trips to museums, concerts, art shows, etc.
you have done your child a great service. we did middle school at home. high school has been okay, advanced classes and all.

Not that a single mainstream news outlet covered it. So it might not be properly termed a headline:

99 I already know them, and the policy here in this district (homeschooling forever is not a good option here -- they have made ways to royally screw homeschooled kids and have done so...required classes only offered through the school at HS level...). However, the same can't be said for the parochial schools (they can't pull that stunt on them). The parochial schools only run through jr. high, but at least it gives us some time to come up with other options.
We're trying to get to the bottom of this -- just found out a couple of days ago -- but having a hard time getting the school to cooperate -- if I can manage to get the pertinent information from them, then yes I will be taking legal action. I'm not counting on getting any joy here or assistance for that matter. This has happened to other people, and nothing has been really done -- 3 day suspension and a tsk, tsk is about the be all of it, especially when it involves "kids from 'good families'".
Yes, they have been sitting on a PR powderkeg for the last 5 years, but they are either in deep denial or just have a "to hell with them attitude" (the district just recently tried an end around getting a tax increase after that was voted down). Part of this is due to, hate to say it but, social class (although it's a bit of a convoluted situation): the students causing the problem are from more well to do households of largely upper middle class white collar parents who live in town, are on PTA and the booster clubs, Rotary members -- well connected in other words. The parents who have largely called for reforms (or at least an enforcement of the school discipline guidelines) are lower income, welfare, minority, rural (which is a wide group of people, probably could write a paper on the social dynamics and how they've changed in this area in the last few years) -- those folks do not have the social clout around here. The local university profs, doctors, some lawyers send their kids to the private schools and thus aren't a factor (unlike in times past, when they did send their kids through this district and demanded academic excellence out of this district and got it).

We don't really have a local media, and it is pretty much in the tank for the schools.
The only bright side is a new regional director got voted in -- and I know this person to be pretty no nonsense and committed to actual education. I hope she can turn the district around -- she's been left with a mess.
