So, not only is Gibbs being thrown under the bus, so is Bill Burton.
And I will bet it is because Obama blames THEM for the story of his wonderfulness not being properly appreciated by the huddled masses.

I see from the side bar that the GOP is finally taking on the EPA over their greenhouse gas regulation scheme. That's good news. And over on Big Government there's a post indicating that they're also going after the Justice Department, and citing the Black Panthers debacle as evidence that funds are not being directed appropriately.
I hope this isn't just all bluster - I want to see heads cracked open (figuratively) and blood in the streets (figuratively). I want to see budgets slashed or eliminated (as in the case of the EPA). We need to see mass firings. Granted - given the lack of manly fortitude on the GOP side this will probably not happen, but if it does I will be greatly pleased.

Why cut the GD military of course.
He wants to cut the active duty military troop strength. This at the same time deployments are extended, NG and reserves are deployed, and we can't even maintain training.
I have no words for the disdain I have for the SOB 'n chief. GD a bunch of Dems who will not allow this treason packed bastard to be impeached.

Vic,
I'd have no trouble with troop cuts if it were part of an actual plan instead of cuts for cuts sake. Instead of confronting issues, we're picking at the edges.
Posted by: Circa (Insert Year Here) at January 07, 2011 03:48 AM (B+qrE)
From what I have seen we don't have enough active duty troops for current needs, much less and excess that allows cutting.
I would agree that they could cut about 50% of the O-7 and above stationed in the Pentagon though. But that will never happen.

WASHINGTON – The newly installed speaker of the House admits he's a smoker and that he sometimes gets emotional, and he isn't apologizing for either.
Rep. John Boehner (BAY'-nur) tells NBC in an interview, "It's who I am."
The veteran Ohio Republican, who was sworn in this week to succeed Democrat Nancy Pelosi, was asked about talk that he's too inclined to tear up on occasion. Asked about this by interviewer Brian Williams, Boehner replied, "There are some things I feel really strongly about."
Boehner confirms he smokes cigarettes, saying "it's a bad habit." He says a lot of people tell him to quit, but "I am who I am."
He declined to say what federal program should be the first to be cut in the interest of slashing the deficit.

I pulled out my old Moffitt & Bouchard which has a 1980 chart of magnetic declination and the rate of change of declination. According to the chart Tampa is in a quiet spot so change may very well be speeding up. Of course the change might be as little as two degrees (184° would be rounded down to 18, 186° to 19) but even that small of a change should take over 20 years. The commentary accompanying the chart, however, also notes that rates of change change and local anomalies can cause differences not shown on charts.
The original surveyor, of course, might also have been drunk.

Jan. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Employers in the U.S. added fewer jobs than forecast in December and the unemployment rate dropped, partly reflecting a shrinking workforce, a sign the labor-market recovery will take time to develop.
Payrolls increased 103,000, compared with the median forecast of 150,000 in a Bloomberg News survey, Labor Department figures showed today in Washington. Employment the previous two months increased more than previously estimated. The jobless rate fell to 9.4 percent, the lowest level since May 2009.

Stuart Varney was just on Fox saying the 9.4% was pure spin. The real number is the VERY low number of jobs created. We are at their "calculated" 9.4 because of the number going off the "looking" rolls.

Rudy Giuliani is gearing up for another run at the White House, according to a report Friday.
The former New York City mayor, whose 2008 presidential campaign flopped, is said to be confident about his chances and is huddling with his advisers and planning to make visits to key states as he weighs a decision, The New York Post reports.
Giuliani “thinks the Republican race will be populated with far-right candidates like Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee, and there’s opportunity for a moderate candidate with a background in national security,” a source told the paper.
He is planning a February visit to New Hampshire, where he placed fourth in the GOP presidential primary last time around.
Asked about the Post report this morning, Giuliani said “of course I keep in the back of my mind” the possibility of running again and indicated he is considering an early visit to the Granite state.
“I may be going. I go to New Hampshire a lot, but I don’t have anything scheduled right now,” he said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“I love New Hampshire …It’s a great state and I love being there. And I love being involved in the process.”
But he disputed the paper’s claim that he is meeting with advisors, saying, “Well, so far I haven’t found any political advisors to round up.”

Sorry, Vic, I've got to stick up for my state. Look at the other people who were options!
"Romney leads former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin by 23 points, with Romney earning 39% and Palin earning 16%. Mike Huckabee (10%), Newt Gingrich (8%), Texas Congressman Ron Paul (7%), former MN Gov. Tim Pawlenty (4%), Rick Santorum (3%) and MS Gov. Haley Barbour (1%) all trail significantly behind."
I love Sarah Palin, but like so many people, I don't want her to be President. I want her to keep doing what she's doing, which is being out there on the circuit, ginning up support for conservative causes and being a firebrand who pisses off the left.
The rest of them? Huckabee, who folks see as either a Bible thumper or a liberal RINO in conservative clothing; Gingrich, the ultimate RINO who's well past his prime; Ron Paul, the "odd little troll" or "fringe looney tune," depending who you're talking to; and Tim Pawlenty, Rick Santorum, and Haley Barbour who, sorry to say it, nobody KNOWS, at least not here in the Granite State. People know Romney's name, they're familiar enough with him to think he has a Presidential quality, and he's the one they're most comfortable with. I personally don't want the guy, and if I had to choose from that list I would choose Sarah Palin. Let the others start pitching themselves here in NH and you'll see the numbers start to change. We aren't stupid; we've just got our hands full fighting off the Massholes, VT granola crunchers, Maine socialists, and friggin' Quebecois Canadians. Give us a little credit, ne?

a Delaware man broke into a house, got drunk and couldn't make his way back outside _ so he called 911 for help.
New Castle County police say 44-year-old John Finch was trapped in the home in part because he'd broken into it before, back in April. That led the homeowner to change the locks so that a key was required _ even inside.
Police say no one was home when Finch broke in again, through a rear window. He stayed for a few days, drinking three bottles of gin and two bottles of whiskey. When he tried to leave, he was too drunk to climb back out of the window and called 911. He was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

Not that many pilots don't already do that.I'm sure there are lots of clubs and individuals who can barely afford to keep that old Piper Cub airworthy, let alone upgrade it with an aviation grade GPS. Why spend the money if all you do is fly VFR on weekends? And then there's the old timers who prefer to do things old school.
And if your GPS ever craps out on you, you'll be mighty glad to have a compass.
Most general aviation pilots know how expensive true aviation-grade portable GPS systems can be. Garmin and Lowerance systems cost upwards of $2,000 for a decent one, even the seemingly awesome Bendix-King AV8OR costs around $700+.

I assure you that a piece of foam taped under a man's nose will do nothing to dampen his arousal. In fact, I can think of very few things that would dampen arousal, although this comes to mind.

Director Blue (Doug Ross) has a ton of left wing crazy on his site today -- worth a visit.
He also has a link to a map of the recent animal die offs. There have been lots more of them lately than I thought.

Good stuff from Jennifer Rubin at WaPo:
EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Lamar Smith issues first DOJ oversight letter
"Allegations that the Civil Rights Division has engaged in a practice of race-biased enforcement of voting rights law must be investigated by the Committee." He then gives Holder until January 21 to respond to a list of questions, including whether Fernandes did, in fact, "explicitly or implicitly direct Voting Section staff not to enforce any section of any federal rights statute" or "not to enforce Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act." He demands all documents that relate to the department's enforcement practices under the Voting Rights Act.

EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Lamar Smith issues first DOJ oversight letter
Right Turn has obtained the first oversight letter from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) issued to the Justice Department. While he was in the minority, Smith labored, largely unsuccessfully, on the committee to convince the Democratic chairman to investigate a range of issues, including detainee policy and New Black Panther Party case. He now has the authority to schedule hearings, call witnesses and subpoena documents.
In a five-page letter, Smith notes that there has been "little oversight" as to how the civil rights division has used its budget increases ($22 million in FYI 2010 and $17 million requested in FYI 2011) and why the need for some 164 new positions.
He then gets to the heart of the matter. As I and other outlets have reported, he notes that in the New Black Panther Party case investigation, it came to light that a political appointee, Julie Fernandes, directed Justice Department attorneys "not to bring cases against black defendants for the benefit of white victims."

Yay! I'm so freaking happy! Why you ask? Because I have Pat Quinn for a governor -- really, can it get any freaking better? I just love paying more taxes that will be pissed away; I cannot thank Cook County enough for making sure he got in. God, I think we should get yet another tax hike after this tax hike -- take 100%; no, take 200%! Happy, happy, happy!!!!!

You beat us by miles! I completely missed your post.
Am I the last person to read this story?
UFC lightweight Jacob Volkman, after defeating Antonio McKee, said he wanted to fight Barack Obama for his next fight. After calling out Obama to meet him in the ring, he explained why:
Actually, Obama, heÂ’s not too bright; someone needs to knock some sense into that idiot. I just donÂ’t like what Barack is doing.
Apparently, criticizing Obama on TV in a sports arena and challenging him to three rounds of Mixed Martial Arts action will earn you a visit from the Secret Service.
A few days later, Volkman was coaching a youth wrestling camp, a situation that will automatically put a man under intense government scrutiny, when another instructor relieved him because Secret Service men were asking to see him. Not only did the Secret Service show up at the dojo, but they came to his home as well.
I went out there and the guy introduced himself and said he was from the Secret Service and he wanted to ask me some questions about UFC 125 and my quote. He said there were people calling in to D.C. telling them that somebody, me, was threatening the President.
“This guy had the whole interview on a piece of paper and it had my picture and everything”, said Volkmann. “He was like ‘is this what you said?’ and I said, ‘yes it is.’ He’s like ‘I want to let you know I’m a little embarrassed for coming here and doing this because obviously nothing happened.’ He actually apologized for coming, but he had to come. He wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to D.C to hurt the President.

We are planning on moving back to the midwest from New England sometime in the next 1 1/2 years. We are trying to decide to either go back to St. Louis (where family lives) or back to the Chicago area where we lived for 14 years. This may have just made up our minds for us.

124 Tami -- you might want to reconsider StL too. Chicago is the new Detroit, but StL isn't doing too well either. I wouldn't live in either city (out in the country within commuting distance, down by StL on the MO side -- not bad).

All it required would be a HDMI run from the DVD player to the monitor. Well I checked the DVD player upstairs and although newer than the one downstairs it had no HDMI connection. So I unhooked the DVD player downstairs figuring I would use the BluRay for both.
The lo and behold no HDMI connection on the monitor. It pays to check everything first folks.

I didn't mean to imply St. Louis city proper...but St. Louis county.
Posted by: Tami at January 07, 2011 07:11 AM (VuLos)
128 Ah.
Nonetheless, even within the city proper, you're still probably a bit better off in StL than Chicago (which really is turning into the next Detroit, courtesy of our lovely officials...taking the rest of the state down with it too).
We're beginning to have a bit of an issue with the believers in a certain theological ideology too...and those that would enable them. So there's that, for which I denounce myself in advance.
I blame a lot of this on the UofI and its desperate longings to be just like Berkeley (or at least Columbia) -- it has set a...not so unprecedented...tone to this state, from which nothing good has or will come.

To name a few problems related to ingesting flouride:
What are the long-term effects of ingesting fluoride on our bones?
Fluoride is a bioaccumulator and is toxic to bones. Skeletal fractures increase as "density w/ ingested flouride" sacrifices elasticity ending with brittle bones and a multitude of bone diseases.
Gastrointestinal
And re: IQ, "exposure to high levels of fluoride in utero exerts a cumulative adverse effect that is not overcome with increasing age in a high-fluoride community." [Zhao LB]
And re: attention deficit population. "The difficulties with concentration and memory described in relation to exposure to fluoride did not occur in isolation but were accompanied by other symptoms of which general malaise and fatigue were central. Possible mechanisms whereby fluoride could affect brain function include influencing calcium currents, altering enzyme configuration by forming strong hydrogen bonds with amide groups, inhibiting cortical adenylyl cyclase activity and increasing phosphoinositide hydrolysis." [Spittle B, Psychopharmacology of fluoride: a review, Int Clin Psychopharmacol, 9:2, 1994 Summer, 79-82]
