Reid: Dems will ‘pursue’ $35 billion stimulus campaign in Obama jobs bill
Yeah, they really want to help teachers and fire fighters right? Hahahahaha mostly they want to help Obama run for reelection by embarrassing Republicans. But, if crying Boner caves they get a two-fer, piss off the base and help their socialist cities out of some debt. (Recall that article yesterday about revenues down 3% but cities still going bankrupt)

Feral dogs terrorizing North St. Louis.
We had that problem here when I first moved in and this neighborhood was mostly woods. It came from assholes dumping their dogs off in the woods when they were tired of them are when they had litters of puppies. A little judicious use of the shotgun solved that problem.

The Hill carries water for that POS bill known as Dodd-Frank
Many Democrats allege that excessive Wall Street speculation in oil markets has driven up prices in recent years.
Yeah, many Democrats also allege they know something besides socialism as well. They like to blame all kinds of shit for high oil/gas prices at the same time they halt drilling, freeze permits, and print money like it was toilet paper. Yeah, its those evil speculators causing all the problems so weÂ’ll pass a new law.
What I want to know is when are the Republicans going to repeal this POS that Scott and the ME sisters helped to get in place during the infamous lame duck session?

Here we have something similar in Columbia, except it is disabled vets. And here is the kicker.
Over the past month, a Columbia man posing as a social worker has jammed disabled veterans into a Woodrow Street house with no water or electricity and had them “living in filthy conditions,” Melrose Heights neighbors and city police testified Monday at a bond hearing.
Snip
Smith, 35, who lives at the Gervais Street address, has been charged with posing as a social worker. The charge is a misdemeanor punishable by a $1,000 fine or a year in jail, according to state law.
The SOB if found guilty will walk with less punishment than an evil DUI miscreant. It is time for some beatdown.

Gitmo should be expanded, including an express lane named after Jack Bauer. Whatever's left after interrogation would be executed. The PPV revenues alone would make it "sustainable."
And good mornin', y'all.

The gov limits the amount to 3.5 W/kg absorbed energy. NOBODY has published the actual radiation level from a cell phone that I can find in normal units for radiation.
Why is that? because the level is so damn low it is virtually not measurable.
Posted by: Vic at October 18, 2011 03:35 AM (YdQQY)
In particular CainÂ’s inability to choose between a sales tax and a VAT is puzzling. The two are very similar in their economic effects. The chief advantage of the sales tax over a VAT is that the latter is considered easier for governments to raise, because it is hidden. The chief advantage of the VAT over the sales tax is that it is easier to enforce without stimulating black markets. (Another is that it reduces the risk of taxing business-to-business purchases.) Opting for both as a transitional step means courting the danger of a VAT with none of its rewards: In the first stage, the government would get a new money machine, and in the second it would supposedly destroy that machine and opt for something hard to enforce.

But the scientific consensus is that any level of electromagnetic radiation close to brain cells MUST be damaging. We'll figure out how to measure it shortly, but in the meantime, we are following the AGW model of theory first, measurements later.

About 10 years ago I saw some studies that showed that a cell phone had much lower radiation levels than a hair drier...
As far as I know there have been no reputable studies done showing any increased radiological risks from cell phones.

But that is not what the 9-9-9 plan does, and I think that is part of NRO's complaint. Someone has to enforce the new VAT, and it's going to be difficult to get rid of government's stealth power to raise the VAT once it is implemented, in favor of some consumption tax.

America must manage its decline
By Gideon Rachman
Financial Times, October 17, 2011 8:35 pm
“The management of decline” was a phrase created to describe the central task of British foreign policy after 1945. No modern American diplomat – let alone politician – could ever risk making a similar statement. That is a shame. If America were able openly to acknowledge that its global power is in decline, it would be much easier to have a rational debate about what to do about it. [British know all about it. Perhaps because of what America has done for Britain, the British elitists are all the more bitter that the birth of America marked the beginning of Britain's end, though that took two centuries for the British to conclude from monarchy into socialism, maintaining their feudal order of castes, the elites as financially corrupt now as ever in banking/investment fraud to dominate the world's population.]
DENIAL is not a strategy. Those who refuse to entertain any discussion of decline actually risk accelerating the process. The failure to have a proper discussion of relative decline also risks leaving American public opinion unprepared for a new era... feeding “the paranoid style in American politics”. For the fact is that management of decline is as much to do with psychology, as to do with politics and economics. When it comes to managing decline, self-abasement is optional. This is not a habit I can see catching on in the US.
[That is truly American Exceptionalism, to not give up: "Nuts!" marked well all the more reason to take care where one places oneself abroad, to secure one's circumstances as one goes. In neoconservative parlance, American Exceptionalism means aggressively "proving" ourselves the #1 SUPERPOWER. After all, we "beat" the USSR in the "Cold War". We can't be in decline since we keep proving our strength through initiation of military interventions; regardless of outcomes that must be ignored, given no clarity in purposed goal or victory, being dismal failures as what was to be the US Constitutional Governance dedication today to nation building Islamic theocracies. That we use force "proves" the Dollar has "value". Tell that to the British, French, Spanish Empires. Rather, following defeat in both 20th Century world wars, the economic security within today's European Union is based within Germany. Military prowess is its own virtue, and best utilized in its own nation's self defense. When the USA no longer economically funds our "vast military (congressional) industrial complex, that "allegiance" from elitists is to themselves, not necessarily to the US Constitution and US citizens at home, let alone abroad.]
Admittedly, America’s relative decline is likely to be much less abrupt than the falling-off experienced by Britain after 1945. The US is still the world’s largest economy and is easily its pre-eminent military and diplomatic power. However, the moment at which China becomes the world’s largest economy is coming into view – the end of the decade seems a likely passing point. Of course, it is true that China has its own grave political and economic problems. Yet the fact that there are roughly four times as many Chinese as Americans means that – even allowing for a sharp slowdown in Chinese growth – at some point, China will become “number one”.
[Santorum: "I'll go to war with China!" Given, China's government has no problem allowing or causing its masses to die. It is never hindered with "compassionate" concerns. In a military confrontation, or economic war, its naval submarines employ everything that the US currently employs; some say China's submarines are more silent than ours detect. Regarding levels of troops, there's no way to grant Santorum his wish to invade China, or North Korea for whatever matter. There's no doubt that China is devoted to cyber-warfare.]
[Gideon Rachman fails to consider. Exactly what will Europe do without US Military when confronted by China's Military enforcing its global economy? Europe loves to lust after the fall America. It used to be merely European governments and elitists. But Europeans have degenerated to the point of hateful loathing for Americans, not merely resentment or jealousy. As people, they're betting against us just as our corporatists are, investing in China's growth for a quick bang buck, demanding for example that NATO attack Libya etc. in time to change their own mind and run home to mama. At what ultimate cost? The end of "Western Civilization" since globalism is so damned omnipotent. Contrast who actually wins against all those who lose. It isn't as if China will ever accommodate the UN by ceding its national sovereignty to globalism as the West has done, is doing.]
But although economic and political power are not the same thing, they are surely closely related. As China and other powers rise economically, they will inevitably constrain AmericaÂ’s ability to get its way in the world.
That is why America needs to have a rational debate about what “relative decline” means – and why the British experience, although very different, may still hold some valuable lessons. What the UK discovered after 1945 is that a decline in national power is perfectly compatible with an improvement in living standards for ordinary people, and with the maintenance of national security. [Again, Rachman/Europe is in denial. NO ADMISSION let alone gratitude that whatever improvement in European living standards were provided via US Taxpayers in the reconstruction of Western/Central Europe following both of their World Wars that dragged us across the oceans to win on their behalf; and subsequent to 1945, US taxpayers providing the funding to maintain NATO and the US Military Stations protecting Europe from their Eastern threats--beyond the USSR now from China--and Southern threats more recently resurfacing from Islam, though truly miscalculated from propagandized "intelligence". Their entire point of forming the EU/euro was to compete against the USA. Now that it's another of their dismal failures, rather than contribute to the preservation of what remains still though shabby, the Dollar, Europeans via Britain must gnaw on our American bones.]
Decline need not mean the end of peace and prosperity. But it does mean making choices and forging alliances. In an era of massive budget deficits, and rising Chinese power, the US will have to think harder about its priorities. [And the EU choices and newly forged alliances with China determining priorities? Again, wtf with NATO, all about America mopping up as the maid, paying itself to be the maid at "allies" beck and call, in order for us to have our own way with agenda. Ironically, the US isolates itself within its own alliances through responsive military interventionism demanded/required by its allies. Given the principle of least interest, the party least interested wins because they don't care enough, leaving the burden entirely on the shoulders of the party that cares enough about the outcome to do the work. Ask the Little Red Hen what she'd have done had her membership in the barnyard alliance been met with isolation, allies targeting her efforts for piracy, whether to their mob violence plundering the fruits of her labor, or simply handing her over to Farmer China usurping her loaf and eating more chicken.]
Last week, Hillary Clinton insisted that America will remain a major power in Asia – with all the military expenditure that this implies. Very well. But what does that mean for spending at home? Few politicians are prepared to have that discussion. Instead, particularly among Republicans, they fall back on feel-good slogans about American “greatness”.
[British Sour Grapes embrace themselves as losers, bitter losers, blaming America for their own pathetic British self-abasement. Contrast, our national security is based upon the Dollar being valuable for American economic prosperity and our borders be secure, and that our military engagements be long-term prudent with clear objectives, strategy and victory. Granted Constitutional Governance, the American Dream is symbiotic given productive individual prosperity within a prosperous society enjoying trade facilitated by a valuable currency. "Lower taxes" or even "No New Taxes" won't cut spending, and so our debt will grow, coercing our economic demise.]
