Muslims attending Catholic University file complaint with DC office of Human Rights because there are crosses in their room

The asshole who filed the charges is a serial filer. Perhaps this university should quit excepting government money and become a private school and only accept Catholic workers and students. Which was the damn intent when the college was formed anyway. (Note F&F claims that it is already a private university)

LAT - Likely to be third Party in 2012

The last ballot I looked at had something like 5 or 6 candidates for President on it. So, I would say we always have a 3rd Party.  Do they mean a meaningful 3rd Party running in the Republican field? Well no, they named some bogus shit hole group that I never heard of. I may not be a professional political junkie but I will wager that I know more than most of these asshole reporters.

So what ax are they grinding with this story (because the LAT doesnÂ’t do a story without grinding an ax.)  What it looks like is they are sick of Obama but donÂ’t want a conservative Republican (no shit). Here they are pushing Bloomberg. Bloomberg would likely take votes away from Romney if he is the chosen R. If A real Republican is chosen, he would be another Anderson and repeat the Jimmy Carter take down.

Read this shit and weep

When I first saw this I wondered WTF has the FCC got to do with creating “funds” for this shit. But reading it and doing some investigation we find that congress actually created this mess by creating the program and turning it of to the FCC in 1997. (Headline is inaccurate) That is a serious abdication of congressional authority and it is unconstitutional. So who was in charge of Congress in 1997? Republicans were. This was the much vaunted Newt congress. This is how we continue to shift left into communism people.

Rant time again over local taxes

This is a local tax issue but it affects you Northerners too that come down to Myrtle Beach in the Spring for early beach and golf

N. Myrtle Beach looking to add a $1 fee per night on rooms. This to match Myrtle Beach which added its own 1% accommodations tax (on top of the State accommodations tax). They claim this is to raise funds to “promote the area” for tourism. Well halleluiah, that is exactly what the State tax is supposed to be for.

But what has actually happened is all of these taxes have just gone into the common slush fund and they are frittered away on every kind of project possible. All of this “hotel tax” shit started in NYC a long time ago. They saw a new demographic to be exploited easily w/o pissing off the locals that elect them. Hit the damn tourists. But like all things that politicians do, they screwed it up. They raised the taxes through the roof and all those conventions and tourists started going elsewhere. It took years of bringing them back down in parallel with other cities getting on the tax train and raising their up before NYC recovered.

Now this stupid tax is in every shit hole town in the country. Even my old hometown now has this “tourist tax”. I usually stay at a budget motel where the base rate is $50/night when I visit relative there. By the time all the taxes and fees are added it is $65/night. And this is in an out of the way small town!

So Myrtle Beach can continue jacking their shit through the roof. Once the word gets out all those Spring tourists looking for a golf package will find that the accommodations are just as good at other golf locations and a lot cheaper.

LOL, there isnÂ’t much to this story. I am posting it to illustrate the new paradigm in politics. The “walk-back”, its not just for gaffes on the Republican side. A Navy ship commander is facing a military court hearing in San Diego Friday on accusations of sexually assaulting two women on his crew.

It isnÂ’t as bad as it sounds because he didnÂ’t rape them, but it isnÂ’t good either. This is one reason women do not belong on ships in small numbers. Shit happens. The other question is “why was he drunk on board the ship” and performing any duties?  Anyway, he is getting the max, no cashiering and bouncing out. He is getting a general court and WHEN convicted it will be the equivalent of a felony conviction for what in this State probably would be a misdemeanor harassment charge.

47 Linda Wall, a conservative independent Virginia candidate for the House of Delegates, admitted on Wednesday that she had an affair with a female student as a junior high gym teacher in the early 1970s, but said she has changed. "I've never tried to hide that I was in homosexuality," she said in an interview with the AP. "If anybody Googles me, they would find that out there," she said. "Forty years ago I was a different person. I was a heavy pot smoker with ... impaired judgment and made some bad choices," she added. The student was a minor at the time, meaning Wall could still be prosecuted if she comes forward. In a 2006 deposition as part of a defamation lawsuit former Republican candidate Paul Jost filed against her and state Sen. Thomas K. Norment Jr., Wall confirmed that she had sexual relations with a minor. She said resigned her position after the superintendent of the unspecified Prince George County, Va. school confronted her about the allegation. Wall said that she converted to Christianity, changed her sexual orientation and stopped using drugs. She has lobbied the Virginia legislature on social issues and describes herself as "ex-gay." Wall isn't the only candidate with ethical issues in the November election centered in Appomattox County, Virginia, following the retirement of independent Del. Watkins Abbitt. Republican candidate Matt Fariss was named in a 2002 emergency protective order against a local woman, and was convicted in separate incidents for holding a concealed weapon and drunk driving. Supporters of Democratic candidate Connie Brennan have publicized repots on Fariss, whose record includes several misdemeanor convictions related to hunting violations and a DUI. CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story said Connie Brennan had a DUI conviction. She does not. The story has been corrected to reflect her supporters publicizing Fariss' convictions.

It's not so much that this is a news thread and more that posting hotties rapidly escalates out of control. Folks always gotta one-up what came before and before you blink there's a ton of almost-porn links (and occasionally actual porn links).

It's a problem because most people access the HQ from work and the more we have that stuff, the more likely that we get added "blocked - pornographic" filters on company computers. Let me tell you, if the HQ gets blocked at my workplace because of stupid "hot wimin!" pics, I'm gonna be super-pissed.

The cast of regulars and guests is a bit more diverse at FNC (that is, you occasionally have a sighting of a real conservative, not just a David Gergen faux one), but it's basically just as crappy a place to get straight news - that is, unslanted and unbiased news - as the rest of the MSM is. FNC seems more biased toward scandal/salaciousness than toward straight up left wing crap, but they're getting there on the left wing crap, too. Stopped watching it ages ago (never really went back to it regularly after Shep Smith spent the entire Katrina news cycle lying thru his teeth about what was actually happening in New Orleans), and I've seen nothing that makes me want to start watching it again, aside from an occasional peek at Megyn Kelly. Fox Business...so far at least...is pretty good at least during certain blocks during the day, but Fox News can go down the same black hole as CNN and MSNBC, etc. for all I care.

Beckel is a certifiable idiot, but hasn't realized it yet.
Yesterday's prize Beckel comment was "What's wrong with using Sharia law in the US, if it is between Muslim parties to a suit?"
I can do with a lot less fair and balanced if "fair and balanced" means that Beckel, Colmes, Rivera,Williams, Liasson, and Powers get any air time.

We had DISH in Georgia...it did seem like they had a habit of putting any channel you might actually want to watch on the next price tier up from the one you could afford. We once bumped up to a higher package just to get GAC which was, of course, about the time GAC stopped bothering to play music videos most of the time.

101 89 I'm on DISH. Posted by: Vic at October 28, 2011 07:58 AM (YdQQY) We're on AT&T fiber-optic U-verse television and internet system for a month now and so far, so good. The Net service is definitely superior to cable (that had frequent interruptions and all sort of gyrations to go thru to get it running again (i.e., turn off the computer, the modem, and ethernet and turn them back on in reverse order, and if that failed, you had to call in to an automated system to reset everything... just a pain) and seems faster, to boot. We get more channels now, which doesn't matter much because we never really watch more than 3 or 4 a night at most anyway, but still... AND, I like the "pause" feature, which let's you hit a button on your remote that automatically freezes whatever program you are watching and let's you resume whenever you come back, because it started to be recorded as soon as you hit the pause. Plus, it's cool that the ID of whoever is phoning you pops up on screen (the phone is over the same system). Overall, I like U-verse,

Did you notice this piece towards the end of the story. Many Obama supporters said they will vote for his re-election even if they don't write big checks. About 4 out of 5 of those who voted for the president in 2008 say they are likely to do so again, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. That means 20% of 2008 Obama voters won't for him! Doesn't mean they'll vote for the Repub but not voting for Obama is DEATH. If that's accurate who can it not be a landslide loss? (Seriously, I may not understand the poll that well. Am I overlooking something?)

104 Sort of a pre-DOOM thought, but consider the choice between a candidate that says "I'm here to ensure the givernment will continue to give you free stuff!" and one that says "I'm here to institute a long term austerity program that will require you to get less stuff from the government!"

I think there may be more OWS type voters out there than we'd like to think.

I hope we aren't falling into the trap of thinking that since I don't know anybody that will vote D in 2012, then there will be a conservative landslide.

It's Halloween Weekend

have no clue if Trick Or Treaters will show up Monday night but I got some candy to be buying this weekend.

Let's see what's on the table since it seems a lot of folks are too lazy to get news feeds:

- Game 7 Of The 2011 World Series Tonight Texas Rangers (#2 AL Seed, 96-66) At The St Louis Cardinals (NL Wildcard, 91-71); after a great game 6 we're rewarded w/ the 1st game 7 of a World Series since 2002 when the Angels beat the Giants. I see from last night's comments that folks are rooting for the Rangers. The hate I saw of the Cards reminds me of the masturbation fest that ensued when my Heat lost the NBA Finals - Go Cards, plus i'm bitterly jeleous of Texas, they're my Rays w/ an actual good manager *whimpers*. As for those complaining about Buck - he's a diehard Cardinals fan so don't be shocked about his rooting interest. I had to deal w/ TBS rooting on the Red Sox in 08 against my Rays in the ALCS that year so you just gotta work with it.

- okay what else? OH! Bill Bennet has a nice new book out about the emasculation of men in society. I have a couple beef with some points he has like seemingly blaiming video geames for too much of man's current ills but maybe it's a good buy for you society and culture guys.

- and after a GREAT day for the DOW yesterday, app. experts fear a massive hangover

141 (New York Times) Despite a pledge not to take money from lobbyists, President Obama has relied on prominent supporters who are active in the lobbying industry to raise millions of dollars for his re-election bid.

At least 15 of Mr. Obama’s “bundlers” — supporters who contribute their own money to his campaign and solicit it from others — are involved in lobbying for Washington consulting shops or private companies. They have raised more than $5 million so far for the campaign.

Because the bundlers are not registered as lobbyists with the Senate, the Obama campaign has managed to avoid running afoul of its self-imposed ban on taking money from lobbyists.

Howevah, a fellow Patriot group member invited a bunch of us to her house last night to watch Agenda: Grinding Down America.  It made Beck's story of Progressives in the US look like an incomplete assignment.  My friend has shown this video a few times in our area and people have been ordering it in overwhelming numbers.  The Atlanta TEA Party had a screening and the fire marshall had to turn away an additional audience or two after the first was jam packed.

If you can get your local TEA Party to host a showing, do it.  They'll be doubters no more.  (After getting approval from the producer, that is.)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A federal judge on Thursday approved a $1.25 billion settlement in a decades-old discrimination case by black farmers, clearing the way for them to seek compensation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for being left out of farm aid programs.

The decision helps tens of thousands of farmers who had been denied part of an earlier 1999 settlement because they missed the filing deadline.

U.S. District Court Judge Paul Friedman wrote in an order approving the agreement that Congress by waiving the statute of limitations has further redressed "the historic discrimination against African-American farmers." He called the settlement "fair, reasonable, and adequate."

A boot up Judge Friedman's hind quarters would be fair, reasonable and adequate

Not always.  His show with Robert Kiyosaki on preparedness was a trip.  If you thought Beck was teh scary!

A fellow TEA Partier invited us to her home to watch this last night.  It makes Glenn's "evolution of Communism in the US" get an incomplete grade.  Agenda: Grinding America Down will make a believer out of any doubter you know.  Everyone who watched this last night ordered at least one copy; some couples ordered one for each of their kids!

Another member said the Atlanta TEA Party gave a free showing of this and the theater was packed.  They estimated they turned away another two showings' worth of people!  If Jane Doe is around, maybe she can verify this.

If you can get your local TEA Party to host a showing (after getting approval from the producer, of course), do it.

(Reuters) - Americans' opinion of President Barack Obama's healthcare reform in October reached its lowest point since the law passed in March 2010, according to a monthly poll by the non-profit, non-partisan Kaiser Family Foundation.

The view of the law has been roughly evenly split since its passage, but in October 51 percent said they had an unfavorable opinion, while 34 percent said their opinion was favorable, poll results released on Friday showed.

Although Democrats were still much likelier to view the law favorably than Republicans or independents, the percentage of Democrats who said they and their families were better off under the healthcare law dropped significantly to 27 percent in October from 43 percent in September.

Morning, all!

I see in the sidebar that my NH legislature is exhibiting its libertarianism like whoa with the civil unions thing.  That's why I always say there's a really, REALLY good chance we could see a solid showing for Ron Paul in the primary here in NH.  A lot of the Republicans voted into the General Court in 2010 are more accurately described as libertarians, which can be both a blessing and a curse.  A blessing because they're pretty darn good at not liking state intervention in private life, and a curse because that means they say and do some stupid things, like allowing civil unions between siblings.

*facepalm*

Did you hear Eric Bolling the night he called Mark Levin's show and told him about the FOX crew's night out?  That moron saved Beckel's life!  Beckel was choking on a shrimp and was going down for the count.  Bolling gives him the "hind lick" maneuver. Nothing.  Tubby Roger Ailes (always directing), says, "Higher, higher!"  Bolling moves his grip up and squeezes again.  Once-martyr-caliber shrimp flies out of his piehole and across the room.

If we DON'T vote against Obama in 2012 you can bet it's because of vote fraud; lots of Massholes pouring up into the state to vote illegally.  During the 2008 and 2010 elections I remember a lot of chatter from folks to be on the lookout for Massachusetts license plates near election sites.

And, honestly, it's at least germane that he's barred from running campaigns in WI.  Granted that he's a Republican, and so probably a victim of a (much) higher standard, that's still not something that can just be dismissed out of hand.

It also doesn't mean he's up to any current shenanigans, and I haven't seen anything to suggest that he is, but the point is valid.  It also means the Herman Cain will need to be much, much more punctilious about his finances and dealings than other candidates might- just to "avoid the very appearance" of wrong-doing.

He's a democrat, but he's lasted this long as governor because he's never gone 'round the bend into utter leftist lunacy.  He lost a LOT of support with the gay marriage bill, which he'd promised not to pass.  The only reason he won election again in 2010 was because the Republican contender was a complete fruit loop: John Stephens.  I say that from experience; he was Commissioner of NH HHS when I worked there.  It was blatantly obvious that the only reason he wanted the governorship was as a stepping stone to the Senate or the House, ala Judd Gregg.

But Lynch is a moot point at the moment, because he announced last month that he's not seeking election to a sixth term (NH governors are up for election every two years).  I think he's seen the writing on the wall; namely that NH is trending red again in a big way, and that means even his milquetoast version of Democratic governance is going to be hard to sustain, let alone widen.

Ovide Lamontagne, who very nearly beat Kelly Ayotte for the nomination for Senate in 2010, is likely going to run for the Republican gubernatorial nomination.  If he does I'm definitely voting for him.  He's a solid conservative with a lot of history in this state.

No, and I don't see anyone (here) trying to say that.  It does "raise questions" about Cain's campaign.  They're questions about which we should probably say "meh," but they are also questions that make it harder to dismiss the inevitable ethics attacks by Democrats when they come.

that's ironic since the last polling I saw on the Wisconsin primary had Cain barely ahead

Well, my point wasn't WI itself, but the fact that they believe there's enough evidence of shenanigans to want to prevent him from running a campaign in their state.

Look, we know one of the standard plays of the Democrats and MFM (BIRM) is to throw ginned-up ethics complaints/controversies at Republican candidates.  Anything that makes it harder to dismiss them as "Seriously?" is a negative point worth keeping in mind.

Yep, he's throwing in the towel.  There was much rejoicing (at least in my family) when he made the announcement.  It is a wide open field.   If a charismatic Democrat comes along who seems legit, s/he MIGHT win the State House, but it's going to have to be the perfect candidate.

I'm more concerned about our 2nd Congressional district going back to blue.  Rep. Charlie Bass got his old job back in the 2010 Republican landslide, but he is now and has always been a useless RINO.  I have a really bad feeling that he's going to lose a re-election bid go fish face Ann Kuster (D-Some Pond Somewhere That's Missing a Trout).  If Jennifer Horn would primary him again I think she'd win, but I don't know if she'd want to go through the headache of having to fight the Republican establishment again.

This is one of the stupidest things I've heard come out of the OWS movement in the past week; the stupidest being the idiots in Occupy Atlanta who wanted to try and levitate one of the banks with the power of weed their minds.

Occupy Wall Street protesters will march to five banks in Manhattan on Friday and deliver thousands of letters to the companies — in the form of a “mass paper airplane throwing.”

According to the plans for the march detailed on the movementÂ’s website, at 1 p.m., protesters will meet at Bryant Park in midtown and march to the headquarters of Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo, Citigroup and JP Morgan Chase.

Thousands of letters that were submitted to occupytheboardroom.org will be folded into paper airplanes, and at some of the banks, protesters will execute a “mass paper airplane throwing event,” after which the planes will be collected in a large mailbag and left in the lobbies of the banks...

Am I the only one who thinks the idea of throwing planes at buildings of economic significance in the middle of New York City is, to put it mildly, in extremely bad taste?

Speaking of Muslim college students...

Hillary Clinton: 'I'm trying to increase the number of visas' for Iranian students

(CNSNews.com) - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told BBC Persia Wednesday that the State Department plans to set up a "virtual embassy" in Tehran by the end of the year to answer questions about how Iranians can study or travel in the United States.

"I'm trying to increase the number of visas for students so that we have more Iranian students coming to study here. WeÂ’re trying to reach out to the Iranian people, and weÂ’ve tried to reach out to the government, just not very successfully," she said in an interview with BBC Persia's Bahman Kalbasi.

Yes, well, when the dictator of said government has repeatedly called America the Great Satan and called for our destruction, what do you expect?

Clinton said the U.S. wants to have "better relations" with the Iranian people and also with an Iranian government "that is responsive to its own people" and give more than lip-service to democracy.

Here's an idea.  Next time Ahmadinnerjacket and the Ayatollah decide to slaughter protesters in the street and lock up dissidents in dungeons, how about the SCOAMF says something like, "Hey, don't do that."  You know, just a thought.

And then, in today's, "Is it really smart to say this when you've just said you want better relations with the Iranian government?" segment:

Clinton said it is one of her "highest priorities" to help the Iranian people overcome the regime's efforts to jam, filter and block Internet and satellite TV communications in Iran.

“We’re doing a lot of work to try to come up with technologies that can circumvent the jamming and the interruptions and the tracking that the regime are engaged in right now. We are providing technology, some of which is more effective than others. We are certainly training people, both outside and inside, to be able to use the technology to circumvent,” she said.

Maybe you don't want to spread that around, Hillary?  Maybe you want to, you know, do it on the down low?

Much more at the link.

279 I posted this late on a deadish thread yesterday, so I'll re-post.  It's one of Rush's pep talks on conservatives and conservatism.  I should really make a point of checking Rush's website daily, because often when I'm feeling discouraged he has a way of helping me regain at least some measure of optimism.  Anyway, read the whole thing (especially if you're a Perry or Cain supporter because it's pretty clear he favors those two), but here's an excerpt:

The disaster that we all face is in the White House. Every one of these Republican nominees would be such a vast improvement, and yet we still have people on our side that want to nitpick 'em. "Cain doesn't know anything about foreign policy! Romney's got this problem! Cain can't do that; Perry can't say that! Bachmann's off the reservation. It's nonsensical, because these people are putting forward some compelling and substantive ideas to seriously deal with the problems that we've got. And when you get down to the end of this process, the odds are that whoever emerges as the nominee from our side is going to be overwhelmingly supported. There might be one exception to that (well, two possible exceptions), but everybody knows that the problem is Obama. Everybody knows four more years of this, and we have a different country and we have a deeper well to dig out of -- and it may be a well that we can't get out of any time soon.

Bottom-line issues stall GOP efforts to pull back health law (Washington Times)

“By the time we got to the debt-ceiling debate, you could tell the leadership, the Republican Study Committee, the organizations that pushed the priority agenda through our conference had turned over to the money side of this equation rather than the principled side of Obamacare,” said Rep. Steve King, an Iowa Republican who has sponsored some of the repeal efforts.

287 35 "Linda Wall, Virginia House Of Delegates Candidate, Admits Lesbian Affair With Minor."

That's the headline at Puff-Host. Of course they are outraged since she's - gasp - a Republican!

I doubt they'll be outraged.  Polanski raped a girl in the 70s and was treated lightly in many left-leaning circles.

Does she have an imdb page?

289 <<(Note F&F claims that it is already a private university)>> It doesn't matter! More than a decade ago, I proudly graduated from a tough-ass (they made me learn MATHSES, all four years! And write non-research, no footnotes, extended-fucking essays about Mathy fucking bull-shit! Even in Science Class or Language Tutorials or Mandated Group Choir Practice!) private College with a B.A. in Liberal Arts. Whatever Amish Dude has to say about losers like me going for a B.A. in Liberal Arts, I'm glad I did it. But... I haven't been capable enough, to parlay my exceptional education debt ($30,000?) into a good enough, long-term, paying gig to discharge my debt this this past decade even though, I do have a record of being way on the fast track when I think I have the dough. Sorry, Sally! I *do* mean to pay you back... but shit! Can't get blood from a Turnip, ya know? Comes down to it, I will always pick paying my rent and electric bill over my Student Loans. What are you gonna do? Put me in Debtors Prison? I'm not saying I don't owe them, I do. I'm incredibly grateful to get the chance to study at a first rate institution in my early 20's. It was challenging and wonderful, and terrible! But... If you assholes thought that educating me in the "Classics", & "History of Mathematics & Science" with double Minors in "Languages" & "Philosophy" was ever gonna pay-off for someone who refused the PhD track you were sorely mistaken. Sorry Sallie! Put me in jail! I dast you! I'm not an OWS -er. I'm just practical. No one should pay for my romp in Academia but me! But... You'll gets it, when you gets it. Sorry. Life happens after College, folks get sick, need taking care of, gotta move to a weird town, etc... Nice thing about student loans never being dischargeable? You just don't ever take on more debt just in case they put debtors prison back in place. Also, you try not to have any kids... So, you basically just don't even SMILE at a nice guy being clever and witty in line next to you at wherever you are. 'Cause you are a 'Nette and you just know that acknowledging that someone made a funny is about 3/4 the way to removing your panties. So, suck it up, grow up, and remember the debt you owe to Sallie Mae! Never smile at a stranger, because he could beguile you from your true path. Just pay off your student loans, loser. This is what you are here for. Just ask Obama!

290 RDBrewer, it's "copyright troll."  Copyright, as in, the right to copy.  Not "copywrite."  Sorry, pet peeve of mine.

291 Well, it is no contest! The one on the left, (no! your left morons!), points her toes and delivers. She would obviously carry that through into ALL parts of her life. She has much better timing and her foil is brighter too! The toe pointing is the real turn on though, the cincher! Go Rangers!

293 Kinda partial to the one on the right. But it's close. The (unseen) face matters more than the body, anyway.
