Reid wants a "surtax" on millionaires to pay for the phony jobs bill

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., outlined plans for a 5 percent surcharge in a closed-door meeting with the rank and file, according to participants, as Obama traveled to Texas to deliver his most caustic challenge yet to House Republicans who have not allowed a vote on the legislation unveiled nearly a month ago.

Gee haven’t heard that “surtax” BS since LBJ was around. Then it was used in the gist of a temporary tax. We know all about temporary taxes don’t we. But Harry the shit-weasel doesn’t even make any bones about this one. What they should say is we want to raise the top rates on millionaires which will later be redefined to mean everyone.

But not to worry, the whole thing is a political game designed to embarrass the Republicans. If we didnÂ’t have Dem PR goons writing articles like this that wouldnÂ’t work.

Another worthless news poll from CBS

This poll was conducted by telephone from September 28-October 2, 2011 among 1,012 adults nationwide. 903 interviews were conducted with registered voters and 324 with voters who said they plan to vote in a Republican primary.

A filthy Zionist JOOO wins the Nobel Prize in Chemistry

STOCKHOLM (AP) — Israeli scientist Daniel Shechtman won the 2011 Nobel Prize in chemistry on Wednesday for his discovery of quasicrystals, a mosaic-like chemical structure that researchers previously thought was impossible.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said Shechtman's discovery in 1982 fundamentally changed the way chemists look at solid matter. It initially faced strong objections from the scientific community, and even got him kicked out of his research group.

The end times are upon us.  Salon.com defends College Republicans.

Last week, the U.C. Berkeley College Republicans – not a group I ever thought I would find myself defending — staged what they called an “Increase Diversity Bake Sale,” to protest a bill, S.B. 185, that would allow public California universities to consider race, ethnicity and gender in admissions. The bill, which Gov. Jerry Brown has indicated he may sign, is an attempt to get around Proposition 209, which California voters passed in 1996 and which prohibited preferential treatment of minorities by the state.

In the bake sale, cupcakes were offered at different prices to different racial and ethnic groups. For whites, the price was $2; for Asians, $1.50; for Latinos, $1; for Native Americans, 75 cents. Women got an additional 25 cents off.

The cupcake sale was an obvious, and dead-on, political satire. The purpose of S.B. 185 is to give “underrepresented minorities” – blacks and Latinos – preference in admissions. To comply with U.S. Supreme Court rulings outlawing racial preferences in college admissions, the bill disingenuously asserts that it will not give such preferences, but that is an obvious ruse: Its author, state Sen. Ed Hernandez, has stated that its purpose is to increase black and Latino enrollment at California public universities...If the bake sale is offensive, then racial preferences themselves are offensive.

Edited for readability.

17 Here's my thought which was buried at the end of a thread yesterday, between spam for Ugg's and Canadian Viagra. I've noticed that even the MFM is starting to give F&F some traction. The Dems and MFM both know that SCOAMF's defeat will take down not just their party, but liberalism itself. They can't force him out lest they lose the black vote. So what if they let F&F boil over to the extent that they themselves call for his impeachment, or at the very least go along with Republican calls for same? It's win-win. They get Obama off the ticket and they can crow that "see? Look how moral and upright we are that we call for the impeachment of one of our own!" Either that or SCOAMF declares martial law and suspends the elections. Then he gets to be a one term president - for life!

When I allow myself to drift off into fantasy, I imagine some the same scenarios... like what would SCOAMF have to dream up in the way of a "crisis" to be able to cancel elections, etc..

But, in reality, it won't be necessary.. no one will be calling for his impeachment... and F&F is too confusing to ever hit that level anyway.. at worst, it may bring down Holder and perhaps some minor folks in the White House, but it'll never reach Obama.

Look at this occupy wall st. bullshit.  Protests nationwide, but not one sign denouncing Obama as the perpetrator of their woes.

This is your morning edition of Aesop's Perverse Fables...

The ant worked all summer stockpiling food to get ready for the winter.  All the time, the lazy grasshopper laughed at him and did nothing but enjoy swims and hikes in the beautiful summer weather.

At last the winter came, and the ant shut himself up in his smug, well-stocked little home.  He heard a knock on the door... it was the grasshopper, begging for food.  "The laughs on YOU now, Grasshopper!," sneared the ant.  "You're going to starve to death!," the ant shouted, as he slammed the door in the grasshopper's face.

A minute later, another knock on the door.  Shouting angry expletives, the ant approached the door for a second time.  Suddenly, a shotgun blasted right through the door, blowing the ant's head off.  As his headless body continued to writhe on the ground, the well-armed grasshopper entered through the hole in the door, kicked the ant's severed head to the side, and proceed straight to the ant's pantry, laughing the whole time.

(Bloomberg) President Barack Obama used humor and ridicule to prod House Majority Leader Eric Cantor into scheduling a vote on his $447 billion jobs bill.

“I mean, what’s the problem?” Obama said yesterday at a Texas rally to boost the economy and reduce unemployment for everyone from teachers to construction workers. “Do they not have the time? They just had a week off! I -- is it inconvenient?”

79 Speaking of Hump Day:

Los Angeles firefighters who allegedly allowed fire engines to be used in two porn films won't face discipline because of a loophole in the City Charter, officials said Tuesday.

The charter prevents the Fire Department from disciplining any member for actions that are more than two years old, Chief Brian Cummings said in a letter to Councilman Dennis Zine. The chief said both incidents occurred on or before 2008.

One incident involved Engine 263, which is stationed at Firehouse 63 in Venice. The truck was used for a film starring adult actress Charley Chase at Venice Beach, where she was seen climbing on the vehicle and exposing herself.

The other film involved Engine 41, which is quartered at Firehouse 41 in Hollywood.

Guess we had to pass the charter to find out what was in it....

According to a statement to police filed yesterday by SHSU Lovers of Liberty President Morgan Freeman, at about 1:30 pm SHSU Professor of Mathematics Joe E. Kirk demanded that the student organizers cover up the part of the wall that read "FUCK OBAMA." Then, per Freeman's statement to police, Kirk took action when the students refused to accede to his demand for censorship:

When we refused he told us he would bring a box cutter down and remove it himself. He left and returned a few minutes later and cut (with a box cutter) out the "fuck" part.

Photos of the wall show that Kirk did not cut out any of the other words from the wall, including any other instances of "fuck" or other profanity.
