The big news everywhere this morning is the failure of the debt panel
The Repubs agreed to some tax increases but the Dems wanted to spike it. But that isnÂ’t the way the press will play it.

Perhaps this deal will go back to rebidding like the Boeing/EADS tanker kerfluffle. Boeing kept suing until they got the deal. There was some shadiness going on in that process as well.

It was, as we used to say in the industry, "designed to fail." There was never any intention for it to work: it was a tool for Dims to point their bony fingers at the mean, old, Pubbies for not agreeing with their demands to raise taxes.
All they needed to do was dig up the 2006 Federal Budget and go with that, but they just aren't smart enough to do it.

Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, whose outspoken libertarian views and folksy style made him a cult hero during two previous presidential campaigns, will announce on Tuesday that he's going to try a third time. This would seem to be an ideal year for Paul: Since the last election, the Republican Party has moved much closer to his view on deficit reduction, which made him an early tea party favorite. All of the party's top-tier presidential hopefuls are focusing on lowering debt, government spending, and tax rates, issues Paul has long advocated. Paul took 10 percent of the vote in the Iowa caucuses and 8 percent in New Hampshire's primary. He finished second, with 14 percent of the vote, in the Nevada caucuses, and eventually finished fourth in the Republican nominating process with 5.6 percent of the total vote. Paul's campaign book, "The Revolution: A Manifesto" also reached No. 1 on The New York Times best-seller list in 2008.
If anyone's "impartial" I'd hand that to Cameron Joseph himself. Check this for example, "The Scots-Irish Vote," The Atlantic, Oct. 6, 2009 wherein Cameron Joseph provides some good thought preparing for 2012 strategies by all candidates regarding the Bubba Cracker vote. I'd argue that Bubba isn't stupid, and doesn't like being "had". If indeed Scots-Irish are "herders" as espoused, having been abused by the nation's major political parties places the onus on each party's back for promoting establishment candidates whom voters eschew. Less eloquently, I'll bet the ferocious poker player Tyler Harber that his bet on Mitt lacks the backing of the Scots-Irish who have wised up and are going to fuck the party that's fucking Bubba. The GOP think they own the Scots-Irish just as the DNC owns the "minority". We'll see about the "culture of honor" herder-warrior voter turn-out, given that voters today are much more literate in political events and about weenie Washingtonian Republicanism than in previous elections wherein political commercials make Republicans appear to be strong (ex: Perry '12). It isn't as if the Republican Congressional Members are respected by voters any longer, now particularly hated by their own constituents. Andrew C. McCarthy makes that case obvious even for die-hard neoconservatives.
