Happy Friday, folks. The skies above San Francisco, every day for a year. Simultaneously.

Bet you can pick out the seasons and the solstices.

Gun Issue Represents Tough Politics for Obama

How about this headline on Fox from AP.  Sounds innocuous until read what they say.

Rick Perry and Rick Santorum go pheasant hunting and give interviews before heading out. Newt Gingrich and Herman Cain speak to the National Rifle Association convention. Michele Bachmann tells People magazine she wants to teach her daughters how to shoot because women need to be able to protect themselves. Mitt Romney, after backing some gun control measures in Massachusetts, now presents himself as a strong Second Amendment supporter.

President Barack Obama, on the other hand, is virtually silent on the issue.

Where is the “we are working under the radar”? Where are his “target shooting bans”? Where is his new dictated regulations for gun dealers? Just more lying BS from AP.

Story on Black Friday deals

I already have my order in from Amazon for their “deals” on movies. They had a few good ones, but you have to be careful. They actually raised the price on some and had them mixed in with the “deals”.

My daughter brought over the annual t-day paper yesterday that has all the ads for BF. I looked through all the guy toy stores at their “deals”. Didn’t see a single one that was a really good deal. Looks like they are hyping non-sales this year.

Here's something the OWS idiots have not taken into account

Not every property owner is going to put up with their shit, and the parking lots at major retail stores like Best Buy are private property.

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – It’s become a holiday tradition for some stalwart shoppers, camping outside stores to be first in line for Black Friday sales.

However, one store is making the wait a little more difficult this year by refusing to let people put up tents as they wait for the store to open its doors.

More coming

11 A question for any IT people awake at this ungodly hour: why does my hash change every few days while most of yours remain the same for years.  I ask because there was one particular hash I rather liked that stayed for months and then suddenly disappeared and now it's a kaleidescope of hashes (not that I post that often).

Krautman reiterating the "myth" of no-tax Republicans being spread by the MFM

He is in favor of the tax “rate” cut by eliminating deductions. I am not, even though I don’t have any deductions anyway. Why? Because inevitably after the deductions are gone the Dems will raise the rates back. That is what happened last time and that is what will happen this time.

13 ....why does my hash change every few days while most of yours remain the same for years.

Some of the service providers, particularly new ones, use floating IP addresses. The hash is tied to your IP address is what I understand.

16 Vic, from the same AP article:

Obama's commitment to act on gun safety may also be complicated by an unrelated controversy over a Justice Department program aimed at stanching gun trafficking into Mexico. The government lost track of numerous weapons in connection with the program.

Obama has vowed to figure out what went wrong with the operation and make sure it's corrected, but with Republicans seizing on the issue to attack the White House, the politics around taking action on guns hasn't gotten any easier.

This is how AP is 'covering' F&F. By not mentioning it by name, forgetting about hundreds of deaths (including a Border Patrol agent), and 'losing track' of a couple of thousand weapons.

They are disingenuous fuckers.

20 Number 11: Assuming you are at home, you would have a cable or DSL modem, which may then be connected to a Router (Wireless). You still obtain an IP address via DHCP, normally the lease renews about every 3 days, and usually you just get back the same IP address. Depending on your IP and usage however you are sometimes getting back a new IP address...the hashes are made from you IP address.

Once in custody, the 25-year-old admitted to Sunday's violent rape and robbery in addition to three other attacks in recent weeks in the Nashville area.

40 G'mornin' one and all! Spent a great Thanksgiving Day with my in-laws at a BIL's home. My sister and her husband joined us. Great food, conversation and watching the first two football games of the day (sucks to be you, hunh, Lions?). All this by way of preparing for today, during which my stepson will make what I am convinced he will come to see as a major mistake in his life by marrying. Shallow, self-centered, tactless, whiny and spoiled - all of which her own family overlook when they describe her as being a "strong" woman - I figure they'll last at most ten years before he decides that he will have had enough of such crap. His journey into hell begins at 6 PM.

I used to live in that area. He can live "around" Oakland OK. From what I understand now the downtown area is what is really bad, but there are pockets elsewhere like Union City where I used to have an apartment. That area has been overrun by illegals and crime has gone through the roof.

But his biggest problem is going to be housing. The apartment I had in union city in the mid 70s ran $350/month furnished and it was a damn nice 3 bdrm apartment. That same apartment is now over $2000 a month. Don't even ask about houses. In the area I lived when I left (Castro Valley) small houses on postage stamp lots are going for $550/ft2.

From Norm Geras about Occupy crowd:

It is reasonable, equally, to contend that a legitimate form of collective protest, other than marching or holding a brief demonstration at some selected spot, is to create a longer presence through some form of encampment. This doesn't license people to occupy any space they please. Otherwise a group of would-be protesters could freely set up permanent camp in Tony Benn's garden, or the offices of the Guardian, or blocking a bridge or other thoroughfare that is vital to the flow of traffic in London or some other city. It does mean, however, that there should be public spaces available for this form of continuous protest, since it is a from of protest which has a proper place in a liberal democratic society - or so I am arguing it is reasonable to think.

But what if, such spaces being duly available, or duly made available by democratic decision if and where they aren't yet, it is thought by some people that the spaces available don't suffice, or aren't good enough ones, or are not well situated for the purpose of the protest's being noticed? May the protesters in a democracy,....then just settle down where they please? Well, it's a contestation over the extent of the rights of use of public spaces for the purposes of protest. But, as the judge said, it may also be - depending on what the law is regarding some particular space - an act of civil disobedience. Standardly, those who engage in civil disobedience do so aware of the consequences and willing to face these.

That's what Speaker's Corner used to be for, now they can just tweet ABC, CNN, FOX, NBC, NPR/PBS, NYT, WaPo...

Zetas Drug Cartell Allegedly Conducts "Mexico-Style" Attack in Houston

Funny, just a couple of weeks ago, I saw some article by an open-borderer RINO that told us that all these concerns about "criminal illegal aliens" was just so much nativist, xenophobic hogwash because even the gangs would *never* jeopardize their operations and chance to be here by using violence like they do south of the border.

Of course, it was bunkum at the time, since there was already ample evidence that they had been for years, but this is just another brick in the hopefully-soon-to-be-built wall between us and Mexico.

Many years ago I witnessed exactly the opposite.  The young couple were idealistic and ready to face the world but the well-off parents on both sides decided they knew better.  A house was bought for them and furnished, a car was another gift, a lavish wedding.  So they went through with it and within a year under the pressure from both sides and their own weakenesses they separated, divorced and all the property went to the lawyers handling the dissolution.  However, some years later they met up again, this time sans parents and all the property and decided to remarry and make a go of it on their own.  Last I heard they were still OK.

They have a teenaged daughter still at home. The husband is a software programmer at Microsoft, and my friend is a scientist who works for NOAA. They are very liberal (she was indoctrinated by her far left mom who was a nurse for Planned Parenthood). When she expressed an interestt in buying either a Leaf or a Volt last year, I said "Well, don't you live in an area where there are frequent power outages?". She said "Well, we'd buy it as our third car.". So there you go. We have idiots that drive Teslas out here--I have seen some on the road. From Matthew Continetti's article "Anarchy in the U.S.A" at the Weekly Standard:

Occupy Wall StreetÂ’s global encampments are exactly the sort of communities David Graeber had in mind when he wrote about the Zapatistas. The occupiersÂ’ tent cities are self-governing, communal, egalitarian, and networked. They reject everyday politics. They foster bohemianism and confrontation with the civil authorities. They are the Phalanx and New Harmony, updated for postmodern times and plopped in the middle of our cities.

So some of us/them have now regressed back to tribal societies.  Why do we have to humor them?  Why can't we invoke the principle of democarcy - numbers.  No matter what they say they the rest of us are actually the 99%.

77 "Why do we have to humor them? " Tell me about it! Every time a politico says its time to get rid of the rape cities, they have to give them a tongue bath first. Blech.

Heh! One of my friends just bought a Leaf. It is their 3rd car!

She said "Well, we'd buy it as our third car."

When our teenagers (OK, a decade ago) wanted a car we would not dream of buying a car that had a range of 100 miles.  We got them a good used Ford and a cell phone (just in case).

I do not want to have to deal with range anxiety.  I want to know that, God forbid, I get a call from Boy BFF that says there's a disaster I need you here now and I can't get a flight for whatever reason I can just throw things into my car and drive the 12 hours up to where he is with the only thing I'm worrying about is did I remember money/debit card/credit card for gas.  Hell, I want to be able to randomly decide after work that I want to run a bunch of errands that take me here and there and I don't have to worry that I can get home.

I don't know about my fellow comrades, but I was terribly moved by Premier Nikita Krushchev's Thanksgiving Day message to America.

Just fill up my backseat with lots of good quality leaf mulch and I'm good to go! Remember to pack the entire backseat area with leaf mulch. My inter-vehicle mulcho-electric converter will efficiently turn the mulch into enough electricity to power me for, at least another 0.0000000000238 miles. Happy Motoring! ......oh, and ummm you can get another several miles by gently, but rapidly stroking my stick shift... .....yeah.......yeah baby....just like that.....

88 Sefton @23: I cooked my first Thanksgiving dinner two year ago in a tiny NYC  apartment. Seven guests in an 11x14 sitting room. A sheet of plywood on my bed was the buffet table. Three guests sat on milk crates. My first time ever buying beer and serving it to underage students, and I had to ask here for advice on what to buy. (Yuengling, it turns out, tastes decent and is cheap enough that even a student can afford too much of it.)

Good times.

90 UC Davis protester admits group provoked police in pepper-spray incident

"We had encircled them, and they were trying to leave, and they were trying to clear a path. And so, we sat down, linked arms, and said that if they wanted to clear the path, they would have to go through us."

Trying to resist the Black Friday urge since I finally have a little money to spend this year.  Daughter really wants to go buy some more $50 jeans and junk for her iPhone.  Son still asleep after going to Walmart at midnight last night with some of his hometown buddies.  Hubby outside battling the leftovers from the Halloween snowstorm that knocked down half the trees in our yard.

Forgot yesterday that I am lactose intolerant.  Paying for it today.  Ugh.  But I did do a nice Thanksgiving dinner.  Made a huge deep-dish pumpkin pie that was actually good.

Called my 89-year-old mom and she sounds great.  My oldest niece and her family went down from Louisville for the weekend and she was happy.  Hoping we can get down to Florida to see her for Easter.

92 <yawn>  turkey plate for lunch and I'm ready for a nap.  I have the shopping gene, but I don't have the patience for black Friday.
The OWS crowd seem to have lost their voice today.  The lunatics out to save today will stampede them, while they whine their little chants.
I cant even imagine what the LSM would do if a Tea Party series costed taxpayers over $13 mil.  What a bunch of losers.  No message, no discipline, no purpose other than to collect that ACORN money and dope in a mob scene.
Would love to see an OWS crowd trampled by irate black friday shoppers headline.

101 I decided to check out mac makeup wholesale and fell in love! I first saw it online and when I went into the wholesale mac makeup store I couldn't believe just how bright it was, I mean even one of the girls that work there was hesistant about it. mac cosmetics wholesale is another of wholesale mac cosmetics is best products imo.

I have it in two palettes as well as my personal one and my skin is light but this used very sparingly (I mean with a 187 type skunk brush) it looks beautiful.
