It doesnÂ’t matter all that much what Romney really believes, or whether he believes much of anything. Romney will be a very conservative president because thatÂ’s the only kind of president a Republican can be these days. Once upon a time, there was a species in Washington called the moderate Republican. Such creatures served in the administrations of Dwight Eisenhower and Richard Nixon. A few hung on long enough to serve under George H.W. Bush. They backed abortion rights and environmental regulation. They thought government spending on infrastructure was good for business. They believed labor unions were a legitimate part of AmericaÂ’s capitalist system. They supported raising taxes if thatÂ’s what balanced budgets required. If you look hard, you can still find such beings. TheyÂ’re like typewriters, fun to look at, but too antiquated to be of much use. Even if Mitt Romney wanted to stock his government with moderate Republicans who believe in seriously regulating the industries that their agencies oversee, he wouldnÂ’t be able to find them.

While there will always be people in law enforcement and the military who do it for the ability to exert their will on other people, and there are plenty of liberals in the military as well, the vast majority of combat arms types (IE not fobbits, pogues and REMFS) are red blooded freedom loving americans that tend much more to the conservative side than to the liberal.

I think any plan to turn the american military into a force that will work against the will of the american people is doomed to fail, and there are too many of us gun toters that are oathkeepers (at least in spirit and mentality even if we are not affiliated with the actual group).

Back in the 90's when Bill Clinton was driving people nutso,  a woman came out with the theory that the Amtrak shop in Beech Grove,  Indiana was being set up as a concentration camp.  There was barbed wire!  Turnstiles!  Mysterious comings and goings of trains!

The Amtrak repair facility has been there since the Eisenhower Administration.  The worst thing you can say about it is that it is full of railroad workers who spend a lot of their union time there playing pinochle.

It could be that they are going to attempt to find all non-commercial transmitters that are in operation. They won't come for our guns, they will come for our HAM sets!

It could be that we have discovered a very weak signal, extraterrestrial in origin, potentially intelligent, that we need to pull out of the grass.

It could be that we wish to confirm, or reply to, an extraterrestrial signal by simply turning off our large transmitters for a short period of time. A sort of an acknowledgement reply that would demonstrate that the recipient is in control of this continent to a certain extent, and not just little Johnny out in the radio shed cranking out replies to Zeta.
