Despite Repubs agreeing to "revenue enhancements" the communist desire for tax and spend is not sated

Republicans offered a combination of new revenues and spending cuts that would cut the deficit by about $1.5 trillion over the coming decade. Even as they refused to acknowledge the specifics of the GOP offer, Democrats were quick to dismiss it.

They think they have a two-fer here. With the press on their side they can maintain that the Repubs are stonewalling (when it is them) and thus gain traction in the coming election. Also, at the same time they think by getting some of the RINOs to cave on even more taxes they can introduce a wedge issue that will either cause voter suppression for Repubs or 3^rd Party candidates, which is their real dream.

Fuck them with a rotten pineapple wrapped with concertina. I think everyone knows what my opinion of this committee was to begin with. Fuck Boner and McConnell for agreeing to it.

President Obama’s Agriculture Department today announced that it will impose a new 15-cent charge on all fresh Christmas trees—the Christmas Tree Tax—to support a new Federal program to improve the image and marketing of Christmas trees.

Funny, I thought it took an act of congress to create a new federal department and a new tax. But we are dealing with a President who thinks there is no power he doesnÂ’t have.

Nobody is saying President Obama doesn’t have authority to impose his new Christmas Tree Tax — his Administration cites the Commodity Promotion, Research and Information Act of 1996. [otherwise known as crony-commie protection act]

If the company ordered the blanks to a certain size (length, width and thickness) and they were delivered according to those specifications, then the company, as the new owners of the blanks (after having paid for them), are free to modify them in any way they wish.

My wife and I almost ended up in NC instead of Virginia when we moved last year...that part of NC was one of the areas we were looking at. Now, after living just over the border from NC for over a year, we're both very glad we ended up here instead of there. Virginia still has a lot of leftover Dem hangover but seems to be trending in the right direction. NC looks like a little socialist tumor growing in the South. We had no idea how liberal/stupid a state it had become when we were still in Georgia.

52 The internet sales tax is backed by Walmart et al. They have a huge advantage in buying power and shipping, but small sellers  not collecting sales tax on out of state purchasers still have to charge shipping costs. This keeps the playing field somewhat level. hat would change with this new law and add tons of compliance costs to the small sellers.
 
Not to mention the extra $20 billion in more taxes collected annually nationwide. Gee, that won't hurt the economy any.

I think that Perry has in many respects a better record than Newt and he isnt a Bush clone like people often say (he is definitely more conservative than W.), but he definitely shares a weakness with Bush: He cannot communicate if his life depended on it. And dont fool yourself, this isnt just a weakness during election season. The presidency these days means permanent campaigning. I dont know bout you, but I dont wanna see the left running circles arround our next potus like they did during W's presidency.

i'm not from Ohio and have never even taken a step there. I just know it's past history, trends, and demographics. Its one of the biggest union states (even though unions are losing power and influence these days) and frankly a lot folks can talk the talk then walk the walk. I meet so many people who want Big Govt or Big labor out of the way but when they feel their piece of the Govt crack is at stake it's diff. rules. For instance my self-loathing conservative brother is all about getting Govt out of the way but he wants them to fun high speed rail big time and tax anything he deems "unsafe" and "sinful".Old folks want Govt out of the way but dont you dare touch their medicare or social security.

and dont forget that 66% (more then voted for more union schilling) voted against the healthcare mandate

Clinton got away with all his scandals, simply by reminding Americans eloquently and in multiple ways that his opponents are right-wingers.

Bush couldnt even convince the citizenry that the mismanagement after Katrina wasnt the fault of the federal government, with all the facts on his side.

Oy. I hate to say it, but I agree. Newt is now #2 (a distant 2nd behind Perry) on my preference list for the primaries. I'm fervently hoping Perry is still around to vote for on March 6 in Virginia. Jeez...what a mess this has turned into.

he loses to Generic GOP and Romney (barely), its's not that he beats everyone as this far out it's hard to read the race (the fact he gets less then 50% for instance is not a good sign for him) but that he wins by the margin he does. if Perry got w/in 5 points i'd start thinking he could pull it off

That's been my problem with Perry since day one.

As this story continues to unfold I find myself becoming more and more irate.  Eff Joe Paterno for playing at being the befuddled old man who did not realize what was going on and dutifully reported it to his "boss."  Anyone who has ever been at a university with a major football program knows that the football coach is one of the most powerful people on campus.  Whatever the org chart might say, the AD works for him, not the other way around.  Paterno knew there was a problem in 1998 (if not sooner) so whatever the "inappropriate" "sexual" activity that was going on with Sandusky and a 10 year old boy, there is simply no way Paterno should not have reacted more forcefully. 

And how that 28 year old man who, by his own admission went to investigate sounds that he thought sounded like sexual activity, could sleep at night is beyond me.  Pray, tell, why did he go to investigate the noises?  For titillation?  What activity might he have had to see that would have necessitated action in his mind?  This is not some random person witnessing a crime in the dark of night on some street corner.  He saw the whole thing under the fluorescent lights of the locker room - he knew who the perp was - and he couldn't at the very least drop an anonymous phone call to the police?  Screw that.

I assume that he (the grad asst) will be brought up on charges as soon as they find victim #8, but they must need his cooperation now to make their case. 

Paterno is a wealthy man.  I hope they sue him for everything he's worth. 

And that president needs to go, too, but I imagine that they will take a couple of months to do that.
