You guys know the drill.

The Boston-area chapter of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association closed last month. There are too few left.

The Baltimore Sun editorial page on December 8, 1941: "Since force is to be the determining factor, we resort to force."

There are ceremonies all over the place to mark the 70th anniversary of the attack. I'll be at this one. Check your local paper to see if there's one near you.

The story on Alec Baldwin and the plane

Hot-head Alec Baldwin was kicked off an American Airlines flight this afternoon in Los Angeles because he was playing a game on his phone apparently past the point when passengers are supposed to have turned off their devices.

DoesnÂ’t AA know? He is part of the liberal elite. Rules are only for us peons.

Obama nominates a liberal activist judge who is a gun grabber and whines when Senate Republicans grow some balls and block the vote

What I want to know is how did this scrunt make it out of the Judiciary committee? Someone had to sell out. She was nominated and voted out of committee (10/ way back in Sep 2010. This while the Dems had a 60 vote Senate. But at least one Republican had to agree to vote her out of committee then.

The Washington Times says it ends a 6 year truce - hahahahaha

Is it a truce if only one side surrenders? Supposedly the Gang of 14 BS deal from McCain was to allow Bush judges. I think we got 1 or 2 and they still blocked the rest.

New Winthrop University poll in SC has Newt in the lead

I have some serious doubts about this poll. Especially when they say most support a tax increase to “fix the budget”. Tax increases have NEVER ‘fixed the budget” in this country. They always result in spending increases and even larger deficits.

Climate meeting shows its true intention. Keep in mind that Obama has told them he will get around congress on this

This time, the annual U.N. climate change summit is taking place in Durban, South Africa. It looks painfully like another misguided attempt to convince developed countries to shoulder global emissions targets while redistributing wealth to developing countries.

This has always been the aim of the UN portion of this fraud. Same for the U.S. gov portion as well.

And yes, he IS bypassing Congress

I am that what I am. -- antichrist apologia

Obama's Pearl Harbor message to American Veterans? His infamous YCKMA bow to the Japanese following his unsuccessful concerted effort for Japan's permission to propagandize against the USA of WWII. Particularly sick, given his ties to Hawaii. Odd juxtaposition of executive leadership, as if by precedent (fiction) "sovereignty" the Pacific Islands State were to be ceded to China, Alaska returned to Russia, while harnessing the contiguous States as Federal provinces, making us all wards of the Federal State but without tribal rights, let alone Bill of Rights.

46 Not again.

...while redistributing wealth to developing countries.

As if any of the wealth pirated by UN financial interests ever develops "developing" countries. Study the Arab Spring Winter of Discontent, for recent examples of "development" to see investment as the chaos and hardships of war for naught, forcing populations to jump from the frying pan of strongman sovereignty into the jihad fire of sectarian genocide. Stateside, as if any of the taxes our Congress burdens us with to bail-out the too-big-to-fail financial corporations ever benefits the taxpayers; rather, squandered again on more frauds to enrich those who manipulate the purse strings who buy what everyone already knows from consultants like Newt. As if consultation fees amount to much beyond redistributing wealth amongst the wealthy. It isn't as if corruption is thwarted, advice taken or solutions dealt by government bureaucrats whose vested interest is self aggrandizing graft. (Another Oxford reason from Clinton, "Because I could.")

100 Morning all, I hope the precedent gives a respectful remembrance for Pearl Harbor, but I won't hold my breathe. My dad was due to be discharged from the Army on December 8,1941. He and his unit were called in, and got to watch their discharge papers being torn up. He spent most of the war in France and Germany, doing things he refused to talk about. So to all survivors of WWII, to the families of soldiers, airmen, Navy and Marines, God bless you for your service, and for the sacrifices your families made at that time. And God bless those serving today, and those supporting them. War never gets any easier.

Obama is planning a small-scale reenactment of this tableaux when he hooks up with Bobby Titcomb in a couple of weeks, and they go bodysurfing off the North Shore.  Later, at sunset, he will snuff the last roach of the day, and form a small crescent of pebbles on the beach.

I was pondering last night what it would take to actually declare a war now.  Not a kinetic military action, not a limited multinational joint exercise of robust diplomacy, but war.  Then I decided I didn't want to know.

148 A lunch that will live in infamy? That’s what at least one parent at elite Sidwell Friends (yes, Sasha and Malia’s school!) wondered upon seeing what the school cafeteria listed as its “Pearl Harbor Day” menu Wednesday: A heavily Japanese-inspired lineup, including teriyaki chicken and edamame (as well as more generically Asian delicacies like tofu, fried rice, fortune cookies and “oriental noodle salad”). A school rep told us this was just a fluke — not a meal intended to commemorate the 1941 Japanese attack on U.S. forces: The contractor that prepares school lunches randomly assigned an Asian menu to Dec. 7, and the subcontractor that prints the calendars automatically marked Wednesday at Pearl Harbor Day. “It was completely coincidental,” said Ellis Turner, associate head of the school.

Meh.  Typical liberal professor: the use of the word "victual" in a letter to the editor should have been the first clue.

I'm not even surprised at his idiocy.  To liberals, part of conservative "hypocrisy" is that we "don't help everyone."  Of course, to get to that idea they have to ignore the specialization that we use.  Those College Republicans were sending care packages to our soldiers.  Some church group (not to mention the Salvation Army) has an Angel Tree (or similar).  Yet another group runs a soup kitchen.

To this idiot, the fact that the College Republicans (as an organization- forgetting that individuals within the organization might, indeed, belong to multiple groups) are focused on one niche must necessarily mean that they are ignoring the others.

the necessity to constantly remind ourselves of what was exceptional or "different" about the American Dream before WWII. Before being able to work hard and enjoy the fruits of our own labor with our own property rights, the groundwork was established on the functional premise that we are all equal under the law. Our veterans have been willing to get past the wars in order to return home in expectation of having secured Constitutional Governance. Yes, pray for our service men and women. Pray that our leaders be sober to respect the Wrath of God. And vote to strengthen what our service men and women sacrifice themselves to protect; our Constitution, our Liberty and Justice. Precedence? Take heart. The  more things change, the more they stay the same.

Heh, I actually did follow it.  Seems to me they're coming up with some rather tepid criticisms of Newt at this point.  Probably just saving the "good" stuff in case he actually does get the nomination, but I don't want to overthink it.  I'm at the point where I wouldn't hate Newt winning, but I'm still not convinced he can, given his lack of money/staff.  Who knows though, we keep hearing how different this election will be, and it might.

174 Glee, as usual, was all gay all the time. In this episode, they did an homage to their favorite pedophile, Michael Jackson.

So in other words, you are a tonsil stealing, foot chopping, greedy 1 percenter who is treating your patients by the fee schedule and not paying your fair share.

The funny thing was, I was one of those stupid college students who was working a double major in not one but two useless bachelor's degrees.  Then I saw the light (and lost a close family member to cancer) and decided that I wanted to do something useful with my life.  Yeah, the pay's not bad, but I had to trade the 10 best and most productive years of my life to get there.

178 122 #116, we will find out for sure if Obama is reelected - I am 100% certain we will end up in a shooting war with China and it will not be pretty, but it will end this new Depression just like WWII was what finally ended the Great Depression.

Posted by: rockmom at December 07, 2011 08:39 AM (A0UFZ)

You are a very intelligent woman, though in error on this point.

WWII did NOT end the Great Depression. Everyone in America was on rations throughout WWII. Even the wealthy (though they could still buy off the black market) who'd benefited immensely during the recession were put on rations throughout WWII for the war effort. And times were still hard and lean the first decade for most Americans following WWII. It wasn't until after veterans graduated from college (lean times) that businesses had time to organize for the demands since Eisenhower invested in our infrastructure with construction  jobs literally paving the way to recovery. Given your previous day's comment regarding the housing market boom bearing good times, think again about chronology as well as Eisenhower's postwar administration and departing warning of where we already were, owned by war interests, when he left office.

War against China a not pretty shooting war is an understatement given that this SCOAMF Obama has ordered our troops' reconfigured identity, to be all things (other than warriors) to the foreign nations America serves (foreign mayor, doctor, teacher, leader, voter registrar, banker, baker, plumber, home builder, whatever).

War not pretty... Like Korea? Like IndoChina/VietNam? How did those wars make the US taxpayers wealthy? What did America get out of those wars? Or from wars in Afghanistan, Iraq. We got death, debt and corruption. And Trump or Santorum would attack and pirate to call it a fair day's work.

Unlike the Cold War, N.Korea today has a massive and well trained nuclear communist military. Unlike the Cold War, today China and Russia are closer than ever politically with shared global alliances that you're ignoring, not to mention that China has a modern infrastructure and military that it lacked during our Domino Wars with them. NATO or not, Turkey is allied with its Muslim neighbors today. Counting on our Intelligence saboteurs to take down our enemies? They work for the highest bidder. Word is, the East is on the ascent. Finally consider that our CIA/Military has been forfeiting America's hard earned tax underwritten national defense technology to China for too many administrations already. Skip the economic war? It's already happening. China grabs African commerce. From Myanmar, Hillary sticks her thumb in the eye of what China considers its regional sea faring business monopoly, even while NATO grabs at the Middle East. But since Libya, notice that the Russia/Syria-Iran and China/Pakistan alliances have actively responded to thwart the NATO/MuslimBro cakewalk pirating oil rich nations' central banks. (As if any amount of gold or oil would suffice those who can never have enough, those who spend other people's wealth as if their own, those who consider themselves above any civilized law. There will never be enough gold --or repackaged debt-- to prop up the EU or Euro, or bankrupted IMF, etc.)

On Pearl Harbor Day, remember that Americans instantly vilified the Japanese for having performed the first strike. And subsequently, when America initially responded on Pacific islands, Japanese barbarism against opponents was first interpreted by our newly trained but inexperienced and gullible US troops as evidence of Japanese mental inferiority. Those who would survive first contact quickly learned to respect distrust of the enemy; or by knowing the enemy, to respect yourself. Whether suffering defeat or given ultimate victory, those American troops/veterans did not conclude that the moral of the story is to become the enemy beneath contempt.

Ready for whatever may come. When the opponent expands, I contract; and when he contracts, I expand. And when there is an opportunity, "I" do not hit, "it" hits all by itself.--Bruce Lee

179 Climate Depot's report chronicling the long series of failed Global Warming predictions is now available at the link in my name. "The scientific reality is that on virtually every claim -- from A-Z -- the claims of the promoters of man-made climate fears are failing, and in many instances the claims are moving in the opposite direction. The global warming movement is suffering the scientific death of a thousand cuts. This Climate Depot special report categorizes and indexes the full range of climate developments in a handy A-Z reference guide. The A-Z report includes key facts, peer-reviewed studies and the latest data and developments with links for further reading, on an exhaustive range of man-made global warming claims."

Yup.  Doctors (especially specialists) spend the best years of their lives going to school and working mega hours (residency, fellowship, etc.) while other people are already out earning money.  Then there is the huge amount of education debt incurred, the  whole overhead thing (costs of running an office, malpractice insurance, etc.) and then the delay in getting paid (as you haggle with insurance companies to give you a fraction of what you deserve), declining reimbursements, micro-management from insurance companies and the gubamint, and it's no wonder the best and brightest are no longer going into medicine.  (The quality of our residents has totally declined over the years).

I applaud you for being there for your patients.  What a lot of people (who can't see past the nice houses and cars that doctors have), is that medicine truly is a calling.
